Anytime I get/ have to take a field trip for / during working hours, I always look to Yelp for coffee and or baked goods. I recently had to be in the downtown Glendale area - the Yelp machine recommended I hit up Blue Corn Cafe. There's some development / construction in the downtown area so parking is a little limited. However - I was able to snag a spot right along 58th Ave and get a good view of all the cute shops to check out at a later date. Blue Corn was surprisingly busy that morning due to hosting a Coffee with Cops event. I got the low down from a few of the GPD staff that they are consistently rated as one of the best cafes in the city, maybe even the West Valley. They have recently-ish opened up a second location in DT Mesa, which definitely fits their vibe. I was told the owner gets up early every day to bake - I love the dedication to his craft. Like many mom and pops, there are times when quantities are limited. So ofc I had to buy some baked goods to go for my work team! Their muffins are HUGE - like 2 -3 servings per *singular* muffin. I didn't know what I was getting into when I bought 6... hello carb heaven for us. I noticed a lot of sweet and savory options - croissant sandwiches, cookies, you name it. Definitely the muffins were well-enjoyed by all (PSL, lemon-blueberry, red velvet), and the general consensus was lemon blueberry as the winner. It's a small space with not a lot of seating options however there appears to be a back patio that might be shared with other restaurants. I couldn't get a view on my way out. Came for a quick stop--left planning my next trip back. I had about a two-hour break during a track meet and noticed a small line forming outside this bakery in downtown Glendale--so I decided to go on a little adventure. This was my first stop, and I'm so glad it was. The café itself is absolutely charming--spacious, clean, and with plenty of seating. But what stood out immediately was the customer service. From the moment I walked in, everyone was smiling. You can tell this is a team that genuinely enjoys what they do. Despite the line, they were patient, welcoming, and incredibly knowledgeable about the menu. Their coffee selection is wide but not overwhelming. . I went with the matcha latte with pistachio, which was well-balanced. When it came to food, I couldn't decide between my usual go-to (broccoli and cheese quiche) or the bacon, spinach, and cheddar--or even the tomato basil, which sounded amazing. I asked the barista/ server to choose for me, and she recommended the bacon, spinach, and cheddar. It did not disappoint. The crust was thick and perfectly done, and the filling was layered and flavorful--just incredible. I also ordered an ube muffin and was given a complimentary lemon tart (no complaints here!). The ube muffin was exactly what you'd hope for--lightly sweet with a delicate blend of vanilla, nutty notes, and a hint of coconut. The lemon tart was perfectly balanced--bright, slightly tart, and complemented beautifully by the whipped topping. Before leaving, I grabbed a loaf of sourdough to go. They even offered to slice it for me--small detail, big win. And I have to say, coming from San Francisco, I do not say this lightly: this is hands-down some of the best sourdough I've had outside of San Francisco. Honestly worth the 45-minute drive just for that alone. I come from a background in the restaurant industry, and great service doesn't go unnoticed. Everyone here was attentive, kind, and truly invested in the experience they provide. The customer service alone is worth the visit. They so offer Panini's and daily soups.. Their menu changes daily. I stumbled upon blue corn bakery in downtown Glendale, Az. So grateful and lucky for me! Iv been twice, their sourdough jalapeno bread and quiche is to die for. You must try both- they are both melt in your mouth divine. The muffins, quiches and sourdough bread -all so beyond delicious. Adorable seating areas and tables, enough for everyone. They had hot sour dough bread as samples and it's so good, like melt in your mouth good, grandma good, I'm happy I'm here good and drive across town to get some --cuz it's that's good ! I also got a matcha muffin- which tasted divine. I could hear Angels sing, it had so much delicious matcha flavor. Red Devils food muffin, which almost brought tears to my eyes of how delicious it was. I had a lavender frosted cupcake, quite good but not like my other goodies. Oh my gosh, love! I've been wanting to try this spot since it opened in historic, downtown Glendale. They have quite a lot of seating for a cafe/bakery so it was nice and relaxing to sit and eat my blueberry lemon muffin. Which heads up, it was HUGE. If you are ever within the Glendale area, please stop on by this amazing indigenous-owned small bakery and cafe! My boyfriend and I had this on our "cafe hopping" bucket list, as we saw this ranked number #24 for the "Top 100 Coffee Shops" within the US. We had a trip out to Phoenix for a concert (We are from Las Vegas), and remembered that this cafe was really close by. So, we had our expectations set high, and let me tell you, this place went above and beyond anything we expected. I want to start off by showing appreciation to all the people there. Shoutout to Trevor, Monique, and Natalie for delivering excellent service and being just the best. They were not only so kind, but funny and made the cafe feel like a second home. It was our first time in the bakery and within Phoenix in general, and they made us feel so welcomed. They offered samples, and even a free pastry or two. That type of service and kindness is rare, so I want to show my gratitude for their hospitality. Besides the great people there, they have AMAZING pastries and drinks. My boyfriend and I were quite speechless during our time there, as every item we sipped on or took a bite out of was perfection. For our drinks, my boyfriend ordered a Passionfruit Jasmine Tea and I got the Desert Pear refresher with Lotus Energy. The tea was divine, as it was herbal and sweet. The refresher? REFRESHING. It definitely gave me an energy boost, and fun fact: it's a healthier plant-based alternative! Now for the food we tried, and we did try a LOT, so buckle up. The Ube Muffin was our favorite. It was rich and sweet, so it felt like I was eating something out of my childhood as I myself am Filipino. The Chocolate Mousse Dome was heavenly decadent. The Cherry Tart was fruity and not too sweet which was amazing. The Spinach and Feta quiche was savory, which complimented all the sweet treats we got. Their in-house baked Sourdough bread is beyond delicious, which paired well with their soup of the day, which was Tomoto Bisque. The Caprese Panini was amazing, and it also paired greatly with the soup. Lastly, my other favorite, the Gluten-Free Honey Lavender Cheesecake. I am not at all a cheesecake person, but this was my favorite thing ever. It was light and subtle, yet sweet and refreshing. Actually found this lovely spot on Yelp and was amazed by the reviews so we had to stop in. Immediately we were welcomed coming into the door and caught the variety of sandwiches and quiches available in a glass container. The store is long, and there is seating area in front and then in the back past the counter where you pay. But as we waited in line (looked busy-ish for a Sunday midday) we continued to get more mouth watering sensations with the treats we kept seeing. We were offered fresh sourdough to try, which was SO GOOD, and so we knew we had to purchase a loaf to take home! But what we ended up trying was the bacon breakfast sandwich (2), and the spinach bacon quiche. Also ordered a hazelnut latter, a tuxedo cappuccino and a peppermint mocha cappuccino too! All of what we ordered was DELICIOUS! The quiche was probably the best quiche I've had, it was fluffy eggs on the inside, so nicely seasoned and the outside crust was perfectly crisp. We wished we'd ordered another to try but it was actually enough. The breakfast sandwich they toast for you and so that came out nice and hot too, the gooey cheese inside was so great, and they serve you hot sauce at the table and that just gave it an extra yummy little kick to the already amazing brek items we ordered. I found this place on instagram originally and had it on my list to try! My husband and I finally made it in on a Saturday and had a great experience. We got the tomato basil quiche and lemon blueberry muffin to share (plus a couple coffee's) both were great! The blueberry Leon muffin was huge and bursting with fresh blueberry when you cut into it. Can't wait to try more flavors. Best part was the pastry chef was coming by adding to the case and he said hello & gave us a lavender crustless cheesecake he was finishing up. I walked by this place several times before finally stopping in. I just scarfed down a cookie from somewhere else, but I thought I could grab something for the next day if I wanted. They had so many beautiful and yummy-looking options. Before I could even make up my mind, I was offered to try their sourdough bread. Soooo delicious! If I had time to eat a whole loaf before my flight in two days, I would have bought some. Anyway, I decided on a coffee cake treat. It looked amazing. That slightly crunchy chewy texture will have me returning again and again!! My daughter got the key lime dome!!! Which had a chocolate crunch shell with amazing moose inside!!! It pains me to give this review because it's such a quaint little place and family owned. I love the vibes and the feel inside. I give it a 5 for vibes and aesthetic but a 2 when it comes to food. I've gone 5 times now and the last couple times havent been the best experiences. I had the blueberry lemon muffin the time before last and it was super dry and crumbly. It was amazing and moist the first time I had it. Last time I tried the chocolate muffin and was so disappointed. It was gummy and tasted like cocoa, not pure chocolate. Best chocolate muffins have pieces of chocolate baked in. Not sure if they have someone new baking but they need to look into this. I had a busy work day after breakfast and had the chocolate muffin in the car. I was starving and didn't have time for lunch so essentially forced myself to eat it to not be hungry. It's a problem when you have to force yourself a baked good. Everytime I've gone, I've gotten the quiche and it's delicious, but I didnt realize until i got it the fifth time that they microwave it to reheat and that always turns me off immediately. When restaurants microwave to reheat, to me, it shows laziness. I'd rather they take 10 min to reheat my quiche then put it in the microwave for 1 min. To me, it's a true litmus test of respect toward food whether or not an eatery microwaves their food. Im just disappointed at this point. read more

The service is fast and fast friendly, the vibe is mellow and welcoming, and the baked good were delicious. I saw this place on google while looking for blue corn recipes little did I know it was a short drive away I went the same day. Such a quaint, calming little bakery with beautiful native art that makes the space feel warm and welcoming. We have an event in Glendale, but wanted to get some treats beforehand. I've had this place on my list for a while and I'm glad we finally made it! It has such a quaint and darling charm inside and outside! All of their food items are in the front, but unfortunately there's no menu board by the register! So you can either ask incessantly what they have or already know what you want. The service was very nice though and they were handing out free samples for the customers to try! There is a lot of seating - some of it mismatched lol but it's cool. As for the food - omg! The strawberry rose muffin is SO GOOD!! Hubby tried their Caprese Panini, which he liked a lot. He also got a Key Lime Dome, which looked very good. I got a Croissant, which they warmed up for me. It was lovely. However, they didn't have any butter for me to have with it. Neither of us are really coffee drinkers, so we didn't partake. Everything is freshly baked by Chef Nick and his great team! I especially love how this bakery offers sample of the sweet and savory pastries so the customer will know what they are getting before they make their purchase. They also offer various drinks and soups that pair very well with either a sweet pasty or a savory one. I almost forget to mention the delicious jalapeño cheddar sourdough bread. I always wanted to go back, but the hours are not convenient. I randomly swung by one day when I was driving home from the office or driving to my other job. Anyway, what I got was so good that I wanted to go by again between jobs. That visit was great and then I went another day and was telling them I wanted to come the day prior but they were closed. Say less, cause now they are open seven days per week 10am to 2pm! I don't want to spoil it, but they give samples. I have had samples of lemon cookies, sourdough bread, zucchini bread, and jalapeno bread. One day when I was leaving they handed me a zucchini muffin and told me to warm it for like 20-30 seconds. I am not a tomato eater, but I ate one of their ready-made sandwiches that has tomato in it, and I did not even remove it, that is how good they are! They generally have a crowd hanging out at their tables. It is a nice place to sit and have a chat or quick meeting. They have seating in the front and back. Stop by to the coolest bakery in Glendale! Right when we walked in, the music selection was on point. I enjoyed the vibes inside the cafe. The owner, Nick, was very friendly and offered free tasting of sour bread. Very tasty! I wanted to try everyone the menu. My mom got a cup of coffee with a carrot cake. I took a sip of the coffee and it was delicious. The carrot cake was perfect, not too sweet, just right. I got an iced chai tea- great sweetness and more on the milky side. I visited with my family and bought 3 breakfast sandwiches (each one different and all pressed before served), a strawberry muffin (absolutely a must have and I'm not crazy about strawberries), a carrot cake, and a chocolate chip cookie. I stopped in today to pick up a loaf of sourdough after trying one a month ago that my girlfriend had gifted me--and wow, it was just as incredible as I remembered. This was my first time actually visiting the cafe/bakery, and I ended up meeting the owner, Nick. He made both me and my friend Ruthie feel so genuinely welcomed. You can tell he truly cares about his customers; he even greeted other guests by name, which says a lot about how many regulars love this place. While we were waiting for the next batch of sourdough to come out, Nick surprised us with a mini cheesecake he had made. Such a thoughtful gesture and absolutely delicious! As someone born and raised in Arizona, being back in that part of Glendale brought back so many memories. I came here for a meetup and enjoyed some delicious food and tea! The cafe is very big, lots of places to sit. However, when I arrived, there were a ton of people there, and the line to order was pretty long. But it moved quickly and I was still able to find a seat. This place has a HUGE selection of baked goods including breads, pies, cakes and cookies. First, I tried the apple pie tea and a red velvet cookie. The cookie was delicious and I would probably order one next time too. Soft, and a little chewy. The quiche was soft, fluffy, and flavorful--comforting without being heavy. I also went with the zucchini muffin, which had been recommended, and it was spot on: moist, slightly sweet. For something sweet, I sampled both the lemon cookie and a croissant. I'll admit, I don't usually go for croissants, but theirs won me over--they were warm, buttery, and tender, without the dryness or flakiness that can be off-putting. Lemon cookie was soft and sweet, I do wish the lemon flavor was a bit stronger or more tart, but that's a personal preference. The snickerdoodle cookie was good, but not great. It was a large flat cookie, cheer in the middle but was too crunchy around the edges for me. I was pleasantly surprised to discover they serve tiramisu by the slice! On top of that, I noticed they keep breakfast sandwiches wrapped and ready to go--a thoughtful touch for anyone in a rush. The atmosphere inside is cute and welcoming. It doesn't try too hard to be overly modernized; instead, it has a comfortable charm that makes you want to stay awhile. Their tomato medley, basil, and Boursin cheese quiche was downright divine -- flaky, rich, and perfectly balanced, like it was crafted by someone who understands both flavor and feelings. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better, the incredibly friendly owner handed me a strawberry cheesecake tart "on the house." I'm convinced this was an act of both kindness and sabotage, because now I'll be dreaming about it for weeks.
