Oh my gosh, love! I've been wanting to try this spot since it opened in historic, downtown Glendale. They have quite a lot of seating for a cafe/bakery so it was nice and relaxing to sit and eat my blueberry lemon muffin. Which heads up, it was HUGE. I also got a cold brew with honey lavender and some whole milk. Quite good. They also have sourdough bread and will slice it for you! Honestly the service gets all the stars on this review. They were super friendly and engaging and seemed to take a lot of pride in their bakery. Please go and support them if you're near!

If you are ever within the Glendale area, please stop on by this amazing indigenous-owned small bakery and cafe! My boyfriend and I had this on our "cafe hopping" bucket list, as we saw this ranked number #24 for the "Top 100 Coffee Shops" within the US. We had a trip out to Phoenix for a concert (We are from Las Vegas), and remembered that this cafe was really close by. So, we had our expectations set high, and let me tell you, this place went above and beyond anything we expected. I want to start off by showing appreciation to all the people there. Shoutout to Trevor, Monique, and Natalie for delivering excellent service and being just the best. They were not only so kind, but funny and made the cafe feel like a second home. It was our first time in the bakery and within Phoenix in general, and they made us feel so welcomed. They offered samples, and even a free pastry or two. That type of service and kindness is rare, so I want to show my gratitude for their hospitality. Besides the great people there, they have AMAZING pastries and drinks. My boyfriend and I were quite speechless during our time there, as every item we sipped on or took a bite out of was perfection. For our drinks, my boyfriend ordered a Passionfruit Jasmine Tea and I got the Desert Pear refresher with Lotus Energy. The tea was divine, as it was herbal and sweet. The refresher? REFRESHING. It definitely gave me an energy boost, and fun fact: it's a healthier plant-based alternative! Now for the food we tried, and we did try a LOT, so buckle up. The Ube Muffin was our favorite. It was rich and sweet, so it felt like I was eating something out of my childhood as I myself am Filipino. The Chocolate Mousse Dome was heavenly decadent. The Cherry Tart was fruity and not too sweet which was amazing. The Spinach and Feta quiche was savory, which complimented all the sweet treats we got. Their in-house baked Sourdough bread is beyond delicious, which paired well with their soup of the day, which was Tomoto Bisque. The Caprese Panini was amazing, and it also paired greatly with the soup. Lastly, my other favorite, the Gluten-Free Honey Lavender Cheesecake. I am not at all a cheesecake person, but this was my favorite thing ever. It was light and subtle, yet sweet and refreshing. I could go on and on about the food, so we took some home for the road as well. Again, please visit this amazing bakery and cafe for yourself. There is amazing people, delicious food, and refreshing drinks waiting for you here. I personally can't wait to come back and try more things!!!

The Protectors of the Salt River, after a Sunday Stinknet eradication effort were fed by Blue Corn. Some months later, visuting Glendale, we stopped in at the home Restaurant. It is mostly bakery, woth delicious baked goods, with a minor in other edibles, plus coffee. We got croissants and a muffin, carrot cake or zucchini. This is a very clean, very busy dining and baked goods buting space. We'll return

About to try this bacon spinach quiche

Actually found this lovely spot on Yelp and was amazed by the reviews so we had to stop in. Immediately we were welcomed coming into the door and caught the variety of sandwiches and quiches available in a glass container. The store is long, and there is seating area in front and then in the back past the counter where you pay. But as we waited in line (looked busy-ish for a Sunday midday) we continued to get more mouth watering sensations with the treats we kept seeing. We were offered fresh sourdough to try, which was SO GOOD, and so we knew we had to purchase a loaf to take home! But what we ended up trying was the bacon breakfast sandwich (2), and the spinach bacon quiche. Also ordered a hazelnut latter, a tuxedo cappuccino and a peppermint mocha cappuccino too! All of what we ordered was DELICIOUS! The quiche was probably the best quiche I've had, it was fluffy eggs on the inside, so nicely seasoned and the outside crust was perfectly crisp. We wished we'd ordered another to try but it was actually enough. The breakfast sandwich they toast for you and so that came out nice and hot too, the gooey cheese inside was so great, and they serve you hot sauce at the table and that just gave it an extra yummy little kick to the already amazing brek items we ordered. Lastly, we decided to try the biscoff cheesecake and unfortunately didn't even get a pic of it, it was soooo goooood! The take home sourdough was fantastic, just had it this morning with some eggs for brek and there's just something about it that just tasted amazing! We'll be back but you'd be finding yourself a regular go-to spot if you choose to come here. You'll definitely leave beyond satisfied! Thank you, Blue Corn Cafe & -Bakery!!

I found this place on instagram originally and had it on my list to try! My husband and I finally made it in on a Saturday and had a great experience. We got the tomato basil quiche and lemon blueberry muffin to share (plus a couple coffee's) both were great! The blueberry Leon muffin was huge and bursting with fresh blueberry when you cut into it. Can't wait to try more flavors. Best part was the pastry chef was coming by adding to the case and he said hello & gave us a lavender crustless cheesecake he was finishing up. Wow - the whipped topping on the cheesecake was amazing. And customer service in general. We got to chat with him on our way out too. He is big on local and fresh ingredients which we appreciate. Definitely will be back!

We made a last minute stop right before they closed, and it was such a great experience! The service was amazing, the vibes were on point, and we felt really welcomed. Definitely coming back Thank you for the great customer service! *noticed a lot of room to chill in case anyone is looking for a spot for some good coffee and study time

Key lime dome and (warm) lemon blueberry muffin
    Sonya P.

We can't rave enough out this little gem!! 10/10 RECOMMEND!! The warm lemon blueberry muffin had the best crunchy, chewy texture!!! I have never had a muffin so superb!! That slightly crunchy chewy texture will have me returning again and again!! My daughter got the key lime dome!!! Which had a chocolate crunch shell with amazing moose inside!!! So pretty, almost too pretty to dig into!! 10/10 recommend this little spot. (Coffee and matcha was where they fell short, but I'm not taking any stars off because bakery items are too die for!!! This is just room to grow and I have faith they will!!) Give them a try!! (Not pictured the Ube cheese cake tart!!! So fresh, creamy, texture again SPOT FREAKING ON, gourmet look!! How have we lived near by so long and this is our first time trying out the bakery. Nick said they are opening other locations and even a quick grab and go. I'm so excited to have this little gem on my side of town to patronize!!!

This was really good too beautiful to eat

We stopped into this bakery after brunch. The zucchini bread was so warm and fluffy. The carrot cake was absolutely amazing! The breads were so light and fluffy. My son had a red velvet cookie and he absolutely devoured it. The service was quick and great. We were able to meet the owner/chef. He was great and told us about each dish. I would love to see more colors in the bakery; the decor is mainly blue and white. Overall we had a great experience.

Gotta say - I have not spent much time in downtown Glendale. Was pleasantly surprised when I ran across Blue Corn Cafe. Stopped in to get a coffee, but ended up with a muffin and a coffee. The service is fast and fast friendly, the vibe is mellow and welcoming, and the baked good were delicious. The selection of baked goods was quite good - cookies, cakes, muffins, croissants, and macarons. I opted from a blueberry muffin - it was tall and full of blueberries. The outside was nicely crispy as well. Almond milk latte (iced) was good as well. The rest of the pastries looked really good, but no way was I getting through more than one.. N*joy!

The desserts were fresh and tasty. Plus they had a variety of coffee, sandwiches and muffins. I recommend and will revisit.

I saw this place on google while looking for blue corn recipes little did I know it was a short drive away I went the same day. Such a quaint, calming little bakery with beautiful native art that makes the space feel warm and welcoming. The owner I believe his name was Alex was incredibly friendly and we even got to see fresh quiche being made while we were there. Everything we tried was delicious! From the sandwiches to the five different desserts we sampled. I can't wait to come back and try more of their blue corn specialties!

    Pastries and quiches!

We have an event in Glendale, but wanted to get some treats beforehand. I've had this place on my list for a while and I'm glad we finally made it! It has such a quaint and darling charm inside and outside! All of their food items are in the front, but unfortunately there's no menu board by the register! So you can either ask incessantly what they have or already know what you want. The service was very nice though and they were handing out free samples for the customers to try! There is a lot of seating - some of it mismatched lol but it's cool. As for the food - omg! The strawberry rose muffin is SO GOOD!! We also ordered the lemon cookie, and two breakfast croissant sandwiches to go. My husband ordered a strawberry lemonade - also very good, sweet like candy. I ordered the strawberry vanilla latte which was a nice touch of berry flavor. I would love to come back again!

Waited maybe a couple min, because they had 4-5 workers helping customers. It kinda reminded me of Porto's in LA (iykyk, so efficient). The lady who helped me was very patient - she helped clarify what items had fillings, and what flavors they were. I made my selection (strawaberry concha, dulce du leche-filled churro, guava empanada, DDL-filled cono rellano aka flaky and caramel-filled pastry, DDL-filled churro, corbata danes aka puff pastry w optionally flavored twist, conos de crema aka cream horn). Ate the cream horn immediately in the parking lot - delish. Loved the churro, which was maybe a foot long! Enjoyed the guava empanada as well. Concha was nice and soft, all the flaky pastries were amazing. Total was just under $17 (7 items) with cream horn being around ~$4. Didn't get any tortillas, but I saw them being made, hot off the press! Will definitely be back, esp for the filled items. They also had sooo many cookies, as well as a white cake topped w fruit. *Extra (small) charge if using a credit card, so cash to avoid this charge.* There was also a pop-up coffee shop in the parking lot (saw they packed up at 1pm though), which would be the perfect pairing for any La Purisima goodies.

On this particular afternoon I surprised as I entered to find that I was the second person in line. They even had six registers going with six customers on each. Funny part is when I was parking I noticed the parking lot was not short of customers but I guess it was a moment in time and I hit just at the right time. It happened to be a little under twenty minutes away from us so we decided let's do it & they were open late. Hell yeah. There's not a crazy amount of pastries but the selection was great. We got two tiramisus, one vanilla custard lobster tail, some mini cannolis, & the wedding cookies. Everything came out to about $50 so beware, prices aren't exactly cheap. But for one, if you're going to do "bad" then do it right & we also shared with our family of 5 so plenty to go around. & Holy cow, everything was incredible. So indulgent, decadent & rich in flavor. My nephews liked the cannolis, personally they're not my favorite, but if you're into it the mini's are a great option to quench the craving. The lobster tail with the vanilla custard took me by surprise. I didn't think I was going to care for it, but the cold custard was refreshing & the flakiness of the bread was crazy, my taster buds were confused by the textures, but in the best way. They complemented each other well. My ultimate favorite was the tiramisu & the wedding cookies. I honestly wish I had gotten more of the wedding cookies, those things took me back. I grew up eating the Mexican ones & the Italians did it right *applause* But damn, the tiramisu was to die for. I would order that again & again. Perfectly chilled, the dusting of the cocoa powder didn't taste like nesquik--incredible. At first the price had me thinking if we were doing too much, like damn, should we have just gone to Sprouts bakery? But after being able to indulge in a great quality dessert, it was worth every dollar. My only feedback, careful when you're paying at the register. If you're not paying attention, the tip automatically defaults to 18% on the tablet. Only thing I didn't care for. I could see if I was eating at the restaurant, but I just popped in to take pastries to go. So, that was kind of annoying. The service was fine, the girl that helped me was nice, but again I just pointed at desserts I wanted & went home. The location is part of the main restaurant, but it has its own entrance & little room making it feel separate to the Sicilian Butcher. They also carry gelato which I haven't tried yet. I believe they have little tables to sit at also. Highly recommend checking this out so save room for dessert!

Older Hopi bakers put in enough sugar for a hint of sweet in their cookies. Modern bakers glaze them. I'll take those traditional ones. When I say the shortbread cup with custard was too sweet for me, that's my 21st century palate speaking. The almond cup was a buy-again item for me, still sweet, very almond.
