I can't tell if i liked my cupcake or hated it, so we'll just go right down the middle. I came here before driving back to Vegas and was amazed at the row of flavors they had. While the cashier didn't care if I lived or died after I told her how hard the decision was of choosing a pastry, i settled on a regular vanilla with vanilla icing. The crumb reminded me of the heavy butter cake from Mastro's. Kinda like cornbread if you've never had their butter cake. I prefer my cupcake slightly less dense. The frosting was good but felt like it didn't go well with the cake for some reason. After looking at the photo I took i wish i had leaned for a more adventurous flavor, but I'm just thankful I didn't get their gluten free/vegan option on accident! read more

The saguaro sugar cookies here have me in a chokehold. They're so well balanced flavor and texture that I have to buy one every time I darken this shop's door. I also recommend the snickerdoodle. It's like the snickerdoodles of my childhood. I also enjoy the cupcakes, but those are a once in a while treat as opposed to an every time I go into the shop treat like the saguaro sugar cookies. Wasn't a fan of the cowboy cookie, but I know some people really dig that cookie and to each her own. That's why there are so many cookie varieties in the world. I appreciate the care this team puts in to their baking and flavors. The shop stocks a boxed water for sale which doesn't do it for me. Totally get wanting to be sustainable, but the boxed water tastes weird. Maybe it's that brand? I don't really have much of a boxed water frame of reference. Anyway, totes recommend this place. I love this place, they are very delicious and not too sweet. My fav is the churro cake, I always get it for my bday and everyone loves it!! I wanna try the chocolate one but I am always biased. I haven't been to urban cookies in a long time, but I was in the area and so I picked up a few treats! I got the orange cupcake, strawberry cupcake, and chocolate chip cookie. The cookie was good, but it wasn't my favorite out of the three. The cupcakes were both really good! I loved the strawberry flavor and filling, and the frosting on the orange cupcake was delicious. So glad that I did not let the street being backed up stop me from stopping by Urban Cookies! As soon as I walked in I was greeted by an amazing aroma of fresh Cookies and cupcakes! I went with the oatmeal raisins and dump truck cookie that was sugar based with sprinkles, dusted with sugar sprinkles, and other amazingness! I could not get enough of that cookie! This place was awesome! Lots of dessert options including cupcakes, cookies and some other yummy looking snacks. I tried one of the margarita cupcakes, a seasonal flavor, and it was delicious! The icing was creamy and the cupcake had actual tequila in it too! The cowboy cookie was also very tasty, the kettle potato chips were definitely a fun addition. Went here on a Saturday morning shortly after they opened. The space is small and comfy. It's very welcoming and the desserts are on full display as soon as you walk in. They are stunning. Staff is sweet. I got the brown sugar grapefruit cupcake and banana coconut cupcake. Both of them were PHENOMENAL. The frosting was a little sweet for my liking and there's a lot of it, but that's an easy fix and a personal preference so I just scraped it off. The cakes were so moist and just... mouthwatering. I'm still thinking about them and will be back in before the grapefruit one is off the menu since it's a special. Note that it is easy to miss the turn into their lot but there is plenty of parking once you get back there. read more

I've had Urban Cookies dozens of times in my life -- literally have had just about every staple cupcake, cookie, and dessert bar on the menu -- and I can confirm: They do not miss. My favorite thing about this shop? The basics are done incredibly well. Some of my favorite items -- like the milk & dark chocolate cookie and birthday cupcake (chocolate buttercream on vanilla cake) -- are among the best I've had locally. The salted caramel nut bar is also criminally underrated. That said, don't sleep on their more creative flavors. When their tomato soup and grilled cheese cupcakes rolls around, be sure to try it -- it's surprisingly delightful. The gluten free brownies are amazing!! I tried Urban Cookies over a year ago and didn't really enjoy what I ordered. Tried it again recently and enjoyed it much more :) I tried the brownie and strawberry cupcake because they were gluten free. Too much frosting for me but I just scraped the extra off. Very sweet but not sickeningly. I also sampled the orange olive oil and thought was was pretty good too. They have yesterday's baked goods for half off. I think it's a pretty good deal but haven't tried it because no guarantee it's gluten free. The staff could use some training. The woman helping me couldn't answer any of my questions and became annoyed and dismissive. Not great customer service and not impressive as the face of the establishment. read more

Urban Cookies is a neighborhood favorite. They offer lots of options in both flavors and dietary preferences. This month they're offering Mexican-inspired flavors an honor of Cinco de Mayo. They were sold out of the Churro but I did try the Mexican Hot Chocolate which had just the right hint of spice and deep cocoa. I also got the Honey Lemon which was so tangy and well balanced. Both were wonderful! Their cupcakes are thick, dense, sweet and crispy with the creamiest buttercream on top. I grabbed some cookies for the fam and no one was disappointed. The service is quick and knowledgeable plus the downtown location has a walk up window. The only downside to this place is that they are closed every Sunday. read more

I found Urban Cookies Bakeshop on Uber Eats while trying to find last-minute cupcakes for a colleague's birthday during a work conference in Phoenix. Although I can't speak to the in-store atmosphere, I can say this: the cupcakes were DELICIOUS. Because I have celiac disease, I usually proceed with caution, especially since the bakery clearly notes that it is not certified gluten-free. But when the cupcakes arrived and looked exactly like the photos online, I thought, "Oh well" lol. I opted for the gluten-free strawberry cupcake, and it was fantastic--moist, flavorful, and beautifully decorated. We ordered a 12-pack assortment including chocolate, vanilla, brown velvet, birthday, marble, lemon, and carrot, and every single colleague who tried one raved about how good they were. The cupcakes disappeared so quickly that I forgot to snap a picture. I experienced some celiac-related symptoms a few days later, though I can't say for sure whether it was caused by the cupcake or another source of cross-contamination while traveling. That said, the taste and quality were good enough that I will absolutely check this place out again the next time I'm in Phoenix, just with the usual gluten-free caution in mind. First time trying this place after living in this area for 2 years. They had so many options it was hard to make a decision without getting everything. I always pass by this place, and was so excited to try it. Heads up parking can be found in the back of the bakery by the taco place next door. I got the prickly pear sugar cookie which was delicious, and nice and soft on the inside. I also treated myself to the strawberry cupcake, carrot cake cupcake, and their seasonal mint one. The mint one, wasn't my favorite, but it was still good. Everything is veryyyy rich here. I loved the sweetness of the strawberry cupcake, it was nice and refreshing. And the carrot cake cupcake was good too, but very nutty. I wish they did samples here so you could try something here before buying, but they do not. Lemon Honey Pistachio Shortbread: lemon Shortbread cookie dipped in a local honey glaze and sprinkled with crushed pistachios (4/5). Subtle lemon flavor, nice flakey cookie. Prickly Pear Saguaro Sugar Cookie: Saguaro Sugar Cookie dipped in natural pink icing and sprinkled with clear sanding sugar (4/5). I liked this cookie design and simple flavor. Chocolate Chip Cookie (3/5). Everybody agreed that this was just ok. Cowboy Cookie: a brown sugar cookie filled with dark chocolate chips, Butterscotch chips, pecans, oats, and organic corn chips (3/5). I wanted to try this, and it was good, but I'd try some of their other flavors Peach Berry Shortcake Cupcake: peach corn cake topped with vanilla buttercream, peach berry compote, and a tarragon shortcake (4/5). Service is friendly. There are no seats around so it's just a place to buy and pick up your treats. It's better to celebrate in your car. The delicious baked goods I picked up from this place were so good! I couldn't believe how moist the margarita cupcake was! I've never had a tequila induced cupcake before today! My order was ready for pick up at the allotted time the very next day and service in-store was quick. They were very friendly as well. I forgot to ask about how long the cupcakes will keep for and how to store leftovers, so I texted their number from the website and got a quick response. Love that level of customer service. I'm not a huge sweets person, but these cupcakes were really tasty! The lemon was banging, omg it was so good. The cake is very fluffy - just the right texture. The frostings were not too heavy. I've had cupcakes here a couple of times but had never had the cookies. Hence the name, urban cookies... but I heard most people rave about the cupcakes. To be fair, I'm more of a cookie girl. I've been craving a snickerdoodle and bought a couple from random other shops and it wasn't hitting the spot. The one here though... wow! It's like the perfect amount of fluffy and chewy with that slight crunchy edge. Yum! Ok, so the cupcakes I tried prior I was underwhelmed. Not disappointed. They were still really great flavor. Looking back, I think I had buttercream icing I ate straight from the fridge, bad move. I tried them fresh from the shop this time (and didn't get the gluten free because it's not my thing but still glad they carry them for others) and it's a game changer. They're so delicious. Moist, flavorful. All of the things. The shop itself is cute. They'll always give recommendations for flavors. Overall a great experience!
