Just finished the deluxe Napoli snorkel tour, and what an unforgettable experience it was! Our tour began with some delicious breakfast on the boat. We were given fresh fruit and also some delicious cinnamon rolls! There was also coffee and all sorts of local juices to choose from. Our tour continued and our captain, Evan, knew exactly where to go to find pods of dolphins, and we were able to see so many! They even swam next to our boat which was incredibly cool to see! We even got a chance to see a giant sea turtle, and eagle rays in the water as well. Captain Evan is very knowledgeable about the island, and he even took us up close to different caves, waterfalls, and to places where movies like Jurassic Park and Pirates of the Caribbean were filmed. The tour provided us with all of our snorkeling gear which was wonderful. They had life vests, noodles, and just about everything you need to make your snorkeling experience as enjoyable as possible. They even have a slide on board and you can slide right into the water, which of course my wife and I decided to do because who wouldn't love to slide into the Pacific ocean?! We were then provided with lunch, which consisted of either a ham or turkey wrap. We had one of each, and both were exactly what we needed after a long day in the sun. They also had baby carrots, chips, sodas, beer, mai tai, and many other options! Finally, I cannot begin to explain how grateful and appreciative we were of the entire crew. Huge shoutout to Jayce for being such a cool guy and giving us all the rules and regulations for the boat and snorkeling! And who can forget Nicole and Zolie?! These 2 young ladies were always walking around the boat passing out water, collecting trash, and just making sure everyone was comfortable and enjoying themselves! My family and I did the morning raft tour and while parts of the experience were enjoyable - like snorkeling and riding through the caves - our captain made the experience uncomfortable. We had Luke, who did not seem to enjoy working on the raft and was rude when my dad asked him questions about Kauai. When we stopped to eat lunch, he was speaking with one of the couples and made racist and transphobic comments. Mind you this is a small raft, so you can hear everyone's conversations and it wasn't something he was trying to hide. Jojo who was the other Blue Dolphin Charter employee on the raft was great and the other employees at the office when we checked in that day were friendly as well. I also want to note that I called Blue Dolphin Charters a few days after our experience to give them the opportunity to address the concern before I posted a review sharing our negative experience with one of the crew members. The employee I spoke with said the manager would give me a call back and took down my phone number. However, it's been almost 2 weeks and I haven't received a phone call or voicemail from them. I'm disappointed that they don't take concerns of one of their employees making racist and transphobic comments seriously and would not recommend them to other travelers. read more

A great trip to the Napali coast with captain J Sea, DJ and Chasen. It was a gorgeous day to be out on the water. If you read reviews, PLEASE note that, especially in winter, the winds and/or waves can make for a rough sail for the second half of the ride up the coast. TAKE DRAMAMINE and wear sea bands! There were at least a half dozen people on our trip that got sick - some very much so - and it's a miserable experience when you're stuck on the boat for hours, as helpful as the crew is. If you're prepared, I highly recommend this trip for the views.....it's truly incredible. read more

Spectacular views and an AWESOME crew that made the adventure so enjoyable! All of the staff members were engaging, attentive, and so nice! We loved how the Captain (Kai-I believe), coordinated the music playlist to the route, pathway, and views of our experience. So clever! This was such a great experience esp since it was our first time in Kauai. We knew we wanted to see the Na'Pali Coast by boat and luckily Blue Dolphin Charters had a spot for us on the date that we were available. (a lot of the other charters were either booked or was not running that day) We were on the sunset cruise so we got to the meet up at 2:30pm for check in (they have their own parking lot in the pebbled lot down the street) and we left for the boat promptly at 3:00pm. There were 3 staffs on the boat.. one is the captain (Captain Cole) and the other 2 were the ones serving food and entertaining guests. They were so professional, friendly and knowledgeable. (i'm terrible with names but one of the staff was Elia) They even cleaned up and took care of the kids and some of the adults that felt ill. We were able to see the full Na'Pali Coast and even a rainbow! The sea was a bit choppy but the captain really made us feel safe and warned us when things would get rough. The food that was served was very good! (we had rice, chicken teriyaki, pulled pork and salad) there was also unlimited alcohol & other drinks (water, iced tea, soda etc) This was about a 4 hr tour.. (depending on where sunset is I guess?) but it was so fun and def an experience to remember! I recommend doing this for anyone who visits Kauai. read more

We had a group of 3 and did the NaPali Coast Sunset Dinner cruise. It was an incredible experience and the crew was wonderful! Captain Evan did a great job sharing facts about sights along the way. We had some high wind and surf on the way out and Jayce and Zach were so attentive with the passengers who weren't feeling well. The views on the NaPali coast were gorgeous and unlike anything else! We didn't get up as far as usual due to the weather so Capt Evan got in touch with whale watching boats and we got to see whales and spinner dolphins! The food was luau food, nothing mind blowing but definitely better than other meals I've had on cruises, and the dessert cookies were warm. Loved the champagne that got passed around at sunset. We'd definitely recommend sailing with Blue Dolphin! The staff here are incredibly attentive and helpful. The cruise itself is lovely unless you get even the slightest bit seasick. I have never gotten seasick before in my entire life and have ridden in many boats before all around the world, but I got extremely sick on this ride despite the crew saying it was the smoothest day. Definitely not the crew's fault and you could definitely see they were used to passengers getting sick as they have many barf bags handy and were always ready with napkins, ice chips and a consoling smile. If you do not get seasick on this ride (ours was five hours long and I got sick pretty soon after we pulled out), it is quite lovely and you get lunch and there's a full bar as well. Just be aware it's a very choppy ride and to take your Dramamine the night before. read more

We took the snorkel tour in the catamaran and it was absolutely amazing! Captain Nate took a lot of time explaining everything that goes on with the boat and then lots of history and other information about the Napali coast that made the trip lots of fun. The snorkeling spot had tons of fish, eel and sea turtles. Now let's talk about hospitality.....I have been on many a tour around the islands and this one was a 10 when it came to taking care of the guest! 1st mate Jayce and 2nd mate Mazie were incredible! We never wanted for help with gear, pictures taken, explanations of the island and of course the food and beverage service was the best I have ever had on a tour. I highly recommend Blue Dolphin Charter sunset tour with dinner up the Na'Pali coast. Experiencing this beautiful part of the island is a truly wonderful experience. We drove up the Canyon in the am and ended our day on the water and it was a perfect combination. Now, why choose Blue Dolphin Charters over other ones? Well the boat, crew and whole experience was pretty fantastic. Captain Joe, crew Ajahj and Megan made the 4 hour tour safe, enjoyable and fun. They made sure everyone had a good time and with a 3 person crew accomplished this well. The food and drinks were good, the information was enough, and the music made for a fun soundtrack. Sunset dinner. We've found this trip in a Google search and did not bother ourselves to check other proposals, this is definitely worthy of attention, however, we've found that out only when arrived at the port. Several stunningly beautiful catamarans met us, but unfortunately none of them was ours. Our BlueDolphin catamaran stood aside and looked more like a ferry compared to them Inside, our vessel was worse than a school bus, plastic benches, terrible engine noise and unrealistic vibration throughout the hull. All of those made the trip even less comfortable On the front part of the catamaran are two cool nets that are great to sit on and watch the ocean, but this is on other boats, our captain forbade passengers to use them Soda and airplane food hardly sound like a sunset dinner, but that's what they call it, and it's ok, you most likely will accept it. I'll tell you a secret, the Sunset Diner is not what you thought, the food will be in the middle of the trip and the sunset that you will watch with a Mai tai in a plastic cup at the very end of the trip, right in front of the port from which you departed The ocean was calm, but even small swell threw the vessel up and down. Less than in an hour, some people began to get sick, another half an hour later, when the views opened, no one cared about them. Half the boat was sea sick and some were throwing up. Crew drives everyone who feel sick to the stern where they supply people ice and plastic bags. It shakes less at the stern, but the noise and vibration from the engine are even stronger + a slight smell of engine exhaust. Take Dramamine a day before, it could help Fun fact: during the briefing, the captain said that he would slow down if anyone got sick, but when people began to ask him to slow down, he said that he can't, since we were already behind schedule During the whole trip I wanted to jump off the vessel and swim back to land, but swimming was prohibited The way back was a little better, we overtook all the other catamarans and the captain slowed down a bit. For ten minutes they even raised the sail, but only for props, no one was going to turn off the engines We did see some spinner dolphins in the first 30 minutes and waterfalls at the half way mark, however, that could easily be archived in a half an hour trip, no need to wait hours. Passengers from another catamaran saw the monk seal, apparently because they stayed closer to the shore and stopped near beaches. As a result, I was left with a feeling that I participated in a four-hour boat race while the boat itself was only suited for a 5 mile an hour, parking lot speed limit It would be unfair not to say that several people look pleased at the exit read more

We did the sunset boat cruise. The crew and captain are absolutely wonderful and do their best to show you the best views and a great time however if you have motion sickness like my husband and I did than this will be the worst 4.5 hours of your life. I took a dramadine about an hour before and I didn't feel that it helped in anyway. It's insult to injury when you're paying over 300 dollars to be miserable. Once you are sick, you won't be able to enjoy any of the views because you will want to be looking straight ahead in your seat rather than off to the side nor will you want to eat any of lovely meal they serve to you or sip champagne at sunset or enjoy the open bar. Nicole, one of the crew members, was so kind and offered to make us a dinner plate of everything to go for when we felt better and even threw in some cookies. She spent 30 minutes diligently doing this for all the passengers that were sea sick, it was so generous. The staff do have saltine crackers, ginger ale, ice chips and barf bags and Nicole especially was quick to ask and bring you whatever you needed. If you are able to enjoy the ride, there is a beautiful sunset to see, waterfalls and costal views and the captain will make sure to point those out for you. Captain Evan will also warn you when it's about to rain and you may want to go on the main level for cover and when it's about to get bumpy. They take your safety very seriously. Make sure to bring layers because it does get windy and cold and a rain coat if it rains (it did 3 times for us). Don't concern yourself about footwear because you leave shoes on land and go barefoot. In summary: blue dolphin charters offers a very well organized tour and the staff are fantastic and in theory this should be a great five star excursion but if you are prone to motion sickness and dramadine doesn't seem to help, I would avoid this one read more

Great experience with Captain Chad and his entire crew during the Sunset Cruise experience. The water and weather both cooperated with us for the trip and we never had a bad place to sit or a bad view. We lucked out and saw plenty of whales and a pod of dolphins along the way. You of course get a great view of the Na Pali coast, but I was happy with how friendly and accommodating the crew were between taking photos, serving refreshments and making sure everyone was comfortable. Cannot say enough good things about our sunset cruise experience with Blue Dolphin Charters! My husband and I celebrated our anniversary with a truly memorable cruise. Captain Nate and crew (Rob and Jeffrey) were excellent in terms of tour-guiding, food/drink service, and everything in between--Jeffrey even recommended a hike for us to try, which we did the next day, and it ended up being the most incredible hike of our lives! (The Ho'opi'i Trail near Kapa'a, where you can swim in waterfalls. Utterly spectacular. Do it.) This was definitely a five-star excursion, but here are some pointers I wish I had known going in: * if you, like us, saw The White Lotus on HBO and thought "a sunset dinner cruise looks so romantic!" (Jennifer Coolidge's antics aside), this is *not* that cruise--if anything, I'd call this a "ride" rather than a cruise, since the boat is constantly moving with the exception of one or two moments when we stopped to look at certain things, including the sunset. It's not THAT rough, but you can't walk around freely without holding onto something to feel steady, so don't expect this to be some smooth, intimate trip. * in that same vein, I recommend that you do NOT try to look cute/nice for this cruise, as I tried to do (anniversary and all) knowing that it was probably a risk to even bother--your hair will be whipping in your face, your loose maxi dress will be flying up Marilyn Monroe-style but much less sexy, and your makeup will sweat off in certain sunny areas on the boat anyway. Just dress comfortably and be prepared for the wind/sun. Also, it's a barefoot cruise due to how they treat the deck in order to ensure better balance and grip for everyone aboard, so the shoes you wear also won't matter (they're stowed for you before departing); be aware of this in case you want to bandage a cut on your toe or, I don't know, wash the stains from your heels or something. I liked the barefoot policy, personally. * our cruise went all long the Napali Coast, making for absolutely incredible views and photos, but if I can offer any advice in this regard, sit on the right side of the boat (so the side closest to the dock when boarding, rather than the left side that faces the nearby rock jetty) since that is the side where the island views are; the left side is just ocean, and it's also the most sun-exposed so you'll get a little crispy over there without the benefit of the best view. This means that, of course, on the way back, the left side gives you the island views as the sun is setting (we never even went up to the uncovered seating on the second "floor" since I wanted some shade, and I do recommend our spot for both comfort and those heart-stopping views). * I ended up not even eating the dinner provided since I wasn't hungry, but did enjoy the complimentary drinks (water, sodas, Mai Tais, all included!) and my husband liked the food okay. Dinner included teriyaki pork/chicken, salad, macaroni salad, and cookies for dessert. In reality, you're not there for the food, but for the tour, so this all felt like an added bonus to the boat ride we came for. * lastly, listen to their safety instructions at the start of the trip so that you don't fall or do something silly, even if the latter is fairly memorable (a guy on our cruise lost his hat suddenly and we did a funny U-turn to fish it out of the water). There's a specific way to walk carefully and use their stairs (ladder-style, walking backward slowly) so that everyone stays safe and enjoys the trip. Also, be mindful of the 30+ people on board with you and don't stand in front of someone during the tour, as this one couple kept doing to everyone to get a bunch of selfies. There's plenty of room for everybody to gaze past the railing and enjoy the scenery, whether standing or sitting. All in all, we will 1000000% be doing this again the next time we visit the island. We loved our experience with Blue Dolphin Charters - truly one of the more memorable experiences from our honeymoon trip! Despite the early morning start, the day tour of the coast was terrific and well worth your time. We saw what seemed like 50-100 dolphins and they delighted in swimming right under and around our boat, providing several minutes of delight from everyone. The Na Pali Coast itself is incredibly beautiful and the crew was stellar. Friendly, informative, everything was top notch. My only notes - the water was pretty choppy for our mid-April trip, which we were warned about. It meant unfortunately that we had a very early snorkel and the water was not super clear - but nothing to be done about this. They did what they could do get some good fish involvement going on. The cinnamon rolls were delicious, though I am not sure I would call this + fruit a hearty breakfast - and came pretty delayed due to the early snorkel. We were quite hungry by then with the early morning start. The lunch was reasonably good, and the Mai Tai's were very solid, though the bouncing of the boat seemed to take its toll on a lot of folks. That said, this tour was lovely and can't recommend these folks more highly. read more

Yes! Overall a great experience. We did the snorkel/caves rafting tour. Nohili was our captain, assisted by Ruth (I think), and both were so enjoyable. We saw spinner dolphins and bottlenose dolphins and sea turtles; the views of the coast were stunning and the caves were a cool experience. Both Nohili and Ruth were friendly and open, sharing about their lives as Hawaiians. We felt safe with them and like we got our money's worth. My only criticisms were that we arrived promptly at 6:50AM as requested but did not start our journey until closer to 8... I guess we were operating on Island Time! Also, I did not know exactly what I expected a "raft" to be, but you are essentially clinging to a rope while sitting on the edge of an inflatable raft for the entire excursion. No seats, absolutely no sipping of cocktails while taking in views, and the water was ROUGH at points. You will get wet and you will get cold. After our 60-90 minute return trip, we were soaked, shivering, salty and sore and very ready to be back on dry land. Our backs hurt the next day. I also sunburned my lips so badly on this trip that it ruined the rest of my vacation. HOWEVER... it was worth it and we would use Blue Dolphin Charters again. Wear your SPF!! read more

We just came back from a tour of the Napali coast with Blue Dolphin Charters. Wowza! It would have been enough to sit on a row boat. The scenery was spectacular. But the Blue Dolphin crew Captain Nate and crew Jayce, Lily and Matthew, made it a white-glove experience. If you haven't noticed-everything in Kauai is gorgeous so the minute you get on the boat, you're in for a treat. I'm a bit of a worrier, so I was pleased to hear the catamaran was certified by the coast guard. The captain and first mate gave an entertaining yet thorough run down of the rules and safety procedures. There was plenty of food and drink on the boat and while we snorkeled, Lily was close by on a surf board--quietly taking our safety seriously. It's not fair to give credit to the crew for the stunning views but Captain Nate's knowledge and stories made our time there feel special and like we got something more than just a WOW-would-ya-look-at-that endeavor. I don't think Blue Dolphin is the cheapest, we booked through our hotel concierge, but they were definitely worth the price. I will never regret not forget my day. read more

Napali Coast Sunset Cruise. J Sea (Captain), Naya & Jarrett (Crew) did a great job. The boat was clean & in good shape. The restrooms were clean. We left around 3PM and were back at 7:30PM. The upper neck had a lot of seating & was the best place to see the Coast. There is no shade on the upper deck; be sure to wear sunscreen. It is also very windy so hold on to your hat. The lower deck has seating & some shade. The lower deck is the best place to sit if you get sea sick. J Sea did a great job trying to minimize the rough waters. It was still very rough in areas & people got sick. Tip: No matter what take the non drowsy Dramamine!! Just do it!!! Plenty of canned juices, teas, & soft drinks offered. Tiny cups of water also offered. I would have liked larger cups of water offered. Take a large bottle water if you want lots of water. Unlimited Beer / Wine/ Hard seltzer & Mai Tai also offered. The champagne at sunset was a nice touch! The food was okay; not horrible & not great. There was plenty of it. Overall a good experience. It was expensive; $200 per adult. Book 10 days in advance for a discount. The sunset while pretty was not magnificent. The Napali Coast was amazing to see & made the trip worth it. If you have a day, go with Blue Dolphin Charters for a chance of a lifetime to see the Nā Pali Coast. You will not regret it. Yes, it is a very long boat ride. Yes, it sometimes feels like you might crap your pants (whether that be from excitement or the waves). It is worth ALL the views! The crew: Captain Joe, Kealoha, Nohili, and Serg were amazing. They took their time to talk to everyone on board and get to know us. We couldn't have been in better hands. Our charter did lucky, as the swells were not as big, so we were able to go across the channel to the forbidden island to snorkel. Snorkeling was amazing (although since I was a first timer, this was not my forte). I liked what I saw underneath the water for the time I was there. The crew definitely have me great tips for beginning snorkeling. Captain Joe was very knowledgeable and helped me with some tips for the next time I decide to go snorkeling, helped calm my nerves! My husband, Tyler, LOVED this entire adventure and would do it over and over again. Although the ride back was ROUGH, I would do it again. Food was served. Drinks were served. Went on the sunset cruise and highly recommend Blue Dolphin Charter! Our tour ended alongside an entire pod of dolphins! Not only did we have a great spot for the sunset after seeing the beautiful coastline, but we had a full show with dolphins flipping next to the boat! Captain J-sea and her crew, CJ and Nicole, were highly attentive and awesome throughout! The dinner and drinks were excellent, too! read more

We had an amazing day with Captain Joe, JR, Dylan and Nicole. Everyone was so helpful with accommodating my 80 year old mother, two teens and myself on a pitching boat. Staff worked non-stop to make sure everyone was comfortable and safe. We went on a "calm" day and still got tossed around so this is not for the faint of heart! Had an amazing experience on the 5 hour raft tour! Captain Kai and Vaiden (I don't know the spelling) were amazing and funny. The whole voyage was a bit tiring yet fun with the extreme speed and sites. The snorkeling was great as they provided us with all the right gear. Saw some amazing sights under the water. The food was great (especially the cookies). This was a 10/10 I would definitely recommend to do this if you're thinking about it! read more

Had the most incredible sunset whale watching tour last night. The crew, Capt Kai, Dylan and Lily, were incredible. They were fun, knowledgeable and attentive. They brought drinks and food around - wasn't expecting that! - and they clearly enjoy what they do. It was so nice to see how they interacted with each other and everyone on the boat. You have to go when Captain Kai and JoJo can take you. This is arguably one of the best experiences we have had in the islands or traveling anywhere frankly. Not for the faint of heart but an absolutely awesome experience. Kai is like an encyclopedia of Kauai history and a seriously bad ass boat driver and JoJo was awesome and helped us create an amazing memory. I highly recommend Blue Dolphin and when they say you will see Dolphins lol! They get you up close and personal. read more
