I picked up a little Bob Ross finger puppet for my FIL - they collect the artist ones of the finger puppet collection. I think I saw more selection here than at most museum gift shops. I'm so glad I stumbled on this place by accident by hunting prints because I can see myself coming in for random gifts for people now.

In the end, it would have been faster to order it myself online. More recently, I tried to exchange a gift I received, a biography (not a musical score), that I already owned. I simply wanted to exchange the biography, which was clearly unread, for a different one that was actually more expensive. I was happy to pay the difference. I even had the physical receipt. Both were full-price books, not discounted items. The exchange was declined under their umbrella policy. I understand having a policy in place to protect publishers, but it would be clearer to simply state "All Sales Final on Printed Materials." Instead, the language references "copyrighted materials," which suggests there may be exceptions, when in practice there are not. I want to support a neighborhood brick and mortar music shop. But when selection is limited, flexibility is minimal, and communication is inconsistent, it becomes difficult to justify staying loyal. I am disappointed to say, that I will likely purchase my scores and books elsewhere going forward. At times, the store feels oriented more toward internal or institutional purchases than toward the musicians and readers who live in the neighborhood.

They literally carry thousands of publications here on Fashion, Entertainment, Lifestyle, Art, Home, Food, Travel, Technology, News, Business, etc. They feature domestic and worldwide titles, plus hard to find publications. They have a good website where you can order from and ship for free in the continental US. if you love reading and are a magazine junkie this is a must visit.

Since that time there have been ongoing issues with magazine delivery delayed or arriving 1 month late, (only after I prod the distributor). I understand that this is an international magazine. Magazine Cafe provided a complimentary upgrade from Sea Copy to Air Copy, but that did not hasten delivery. I expect more rapid delivery of this expensive magazine. Perhaps another distributor provides better service.

If you ordered from the Parisian equivalent of BN, you would have to pay [exorbitant amount] euros...." They've got some gall. I asked the shopkeeper what they would do when the store closes. He said the internet. If you come across them, I wouldn't recommend them.

I have been trying to hunt down a particular Doctor Strange comics for years so when I was visiting…read moreNew York City, I knew I had to check out the infamous Midtown Comics. I figured they had to have it in stock. Especially given their massive online store presence. The spot is very unassuming and you have to go up a flight of stairs to get there, but once you get in, the space is warm and inviting. They have racks and racks of comics and trade paperbacks not to mention tons of bins to flip through broken down by character. Unfortunately they didn't have the issue I was looking for, but an employee was quick to look through their system. They did mention that they had it at another location, but it was basically their warehouse & it could be tough to find in person. He was, however, quick to suggest a place like NYCC. When I mentioned I was from LA, he mentioned that if I were to buy it off their website, they usually have discounts that would equate to free shipping. So, while I was unable to find what I was looking for, I was given incredible customer service. I really appreciate that they suggested looking for the issue at a con before even suggesting online purchasing. It showed that they care more about helping me find what I am trying to get vs just making a sale. It shows that they care about what they do and the comic book community as a whole. I'm glad I visited Midtown Comics. And If I am back in the city, I will absolutely return. Until then, looks like they're going to be getting an online purchase from me very very soon.

Our first experience with Saint-Petersburg was last year when there was still a store on the east side of 5th Avenue near 29th street in Manhattan. Just recently my wife and I had a chance to visit the Brighton Beach store which was far larger and had a wider variety of goods, especially books. My wife is a lover of Matryoshka nesting dolls so naturally since we were nearby visiting Coney Island beach it was understandable that she wanted to visit the store to see if there were anything that would peak her interest.

What a treasure trove of incredible books, all at great prices!…read more Friends of Library groups are such an incredible force and I'm so inspired by the Friends of Webster Library for running this wonderful store, the proceeds of which benefit the Webster library and other east side branches. I stopped by one afternoon and could have spent all afternoon browsing! I was lucky enough to snag a few copies of Demon Slayer, a few Julia Turshen cookbooks, a Christmas movie, and more! The prices were great - I don't think anything was more than a few dollars. The staff was really friendly and pointed out a second Julia Turshen book when they saw one in my pile. I'll definitely be visiting the Book Cellar again! To enter the Book Cellar, enter the library branch and walk straight ahead. You'll see a sign that will guide you down the stairs to the book shop.
