Okay, my colleagues and I have mixed reviews on this one; some of us voted to give it a 5 while others marked it a 4. The night started out with me putting my name on the waitlist...only to be told they will hold my table for only 5 minutes. HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO GET THERE IN 5 MINUTES? Thus, it loses a star. We sat almost immediately despite our name getting taken off the waitlist (we went around 3:30). The sushi rolls were good, but I honestly felt like we could get them anywhere. The scallops and vegetables and sweet and sour chicken were phenomenal (I don't like sweet and sour, but my colleagues were big fans). PAUSE--I can't believe I didn't mention this until now. THE MIXED DRINKS ARE TO DIE FOR. I got the Blueberry Lemonade. As I reflect, I would go back strictly for this drink. Service was great; our server kept calling us "honey" which I thought was nice. Interior looks like you've stepped into a traditional Japanese home, and instead of a large open room, sections make for a more intimate dining experience. For off season, a tent enclosure to the patio was added, which gives full year dining space as needed. Service is always excellent, tonight KenZ was our waiter who was very attentive, lovely addition of fresh flowers on the table in a very clean environment. Food presentation is gorgeous no matter what you order, sushi or Chinese dishes. Tonight I ordered the real crab California roll (excellent) and the Hawaiian roll (delectable). My hubby ordered Sesame Chicken which came with broccoli and was very tasty. Another win with a Pepsi establishment. As far as Asian restaurants go, don't expect free hot tea served, but it is available if ordered. No service charges for credit card usage. read more

The smell comes to the outside of the restaurant and everything was impeccable and delicious! We ordered the lychee lemonade, perfect! We ordered some appetizers and sushi rolls. Everything came out so quickly, and everything was so fresh, and it tasted so good! It's definitely our favorite spot in the area! Our first visit, and it won't be our last! Family wanted sushi and were very happy with the selection and quality. I wanted something cooked, so I ordered drunken noodles which were hot and tasty. We shared an app of "hand folded" crab rangoons. I'm not sure if being "hand folded" made a difference but they were decent. I was excited to see Japanese cheesecake on the menu (I've been wanting to try this spongy treat). One slice was a shocking $15 but it was a generous size for the three of us to share. It was good, not very sweet at all. Service was very quick and friendly. It was decorated nicely inside, maybe for Chinese New Year, and it was lovely. Inside they had a few chairs with menus and local newspapers to read while waiting for a table. Some of the freshest sushi I've ever had. Great service and attention to detail. The drunken noodles flavor is rich and savory. The basil adds great aroma and the noodles stayed hot even after we were full and took the rest home. Sooo..... I love sushi. This place was not it. The rolls all taste the same. I came here with a group of friends, 4 people 8 different rolls. All the rolls taste the same. Not flavorful. Not complex. Nothing special. You need the soy sauce to appreciate the rolls. Good sushi doesn't need to be dipped in soy sauce to taste good. The fish isn't fresh. I've had salmon that melts in your mouth. This sushi is just not good. Haven't tried the regular food menu items but don't come here for the sushi if you love sushi. read more

This is a nice place to go for Asian food in the OC. They have a large zen like dining room, and they serve good food. We had a happy family, which is beef, chicken, and lobster tail with vegetables, and shashimi. They have a big menu with lots of Chinese food, and sushi options. I don't know how this place has a decent rating. Do not order it's disgusting and not real Chinese food. We ordered carry out and the only thing I will say is the food was packaged well and temp was hot. Nothing was cold! We got the chicken Kong pao which was insanely bizarre and not what I've ever had it was 90% celery. Wtf? And a few green peppers. Their sauce was bizarre too. The drunken noodles had zero flavor. Last item we got was chicken pad thai the color of the noodles was white and zero sauce added it was the most disappointing meal ever. I prefer McDonald's over this place! read more

Blue Fish is a solid spot for sushi. They have other main entrees that are chinese and thai fusion. I opted for the Salmon Donburi which has eight pieces of Salmon Sashimi topped with Salmon Roe on top of rice. It also came with a side of raw squid in a wasabi/soy sauce on top of seaweed salad. Of course wasabi and ginger were provided. My only feedback was that the rice was a little dry but that's just my preference - otherwise the dish was delicious and fresh. I ordered the house sake which came out hot so be careful when pouring it out. It was enough for four glasses worth. I also opted for the seasonal Pandan Creme Brulee which was delicious. It's a dessert big enough for two people. We came around 3 PM and it wasn't too busy, but the manager was working to train the servers and helping to educate them on the ingredients used in some of their dishes. An example was lemongrass and how it has anti inflammatory properties, but I think more importantly it's good to educate the Ocean City local community on what it is and how it tastes. I'm not from the area, but being around local asian food, it would be great to see more introduced here. Anyone looking for other options besides overly fried food or steamed crabs, this is a nice place for alternative food options. This place is DELICIOUS, fast, and beautifully done. All of the party group (15) were able to sit right away with no reservations and get meals at a quick pace. Real We had an early dinner at Bluefish and chose to sit outside. No wait when we arrived, but it was getting busier as we left. Fortunately, they have outdoor benches for those waiting, and parking was ample. The service was excellent--everything arrived promptly and was beautifully plated. The menu featured fresh ingredients, well-balanced dishes, and plenty of options to choose from. I ordered wonton soup, a Maryland roll, chicken fried rice with generous portions of protein, and mochi for dessert. Everything was tasty, though I wish the crab and cream cheese in the Maryland roll were separated--the texture was more like a tuna salad, which wasn't my favorite. Seeing the fresh crab meat separate from the cream cheese would've been preferred. I will say - I am not a sushi connoisseur. I also tried a piece of the Hawaiian roll, which was a sweet treat with shaved coconut and mango slices--almost like having dessert early! Overall, Bluefish is a solid choice for Japanese cuisine in Ocean City. While it might not be my absolute favorite sushi spot, it was still a delicious and enjoyable meal. read more

During a recent visit to Blue Fish in Ocean City, MD, I discovered a sharp metal thread in my food -- later identified by staff as a piece from a kitchen scrubber. I alerted the server immediately, as I had nearly ingested it. The item was replaced, but the response felt minimal with no real apology or concern for the seriousness of the situation. There was no offer of a discount or any formal acknowledgment beyond a quick remake. My wife and I ultimately chose not to eat the replacement meal. I believe the restaurant should review its food safety protocols and take this type of incident more seriously. read more

Midweek dinner visit. We got there a hair before 6pm and the restaurant was starting to get packed. I'd get there by 5:30 during the busy season. It is very popular as there's not a ton of gourmet Asian/sushi options in OCMD. There menu hovers around Japanese, Chinese, and Thai dishes. We went with some sushi and a hot & spicy chicken dish, and some lo mein. It's overpriced, but very tasty. Kids (two boys) keep talking about Blue Fish as their favorite restaurant (disclaimer, they say this about a lot of restaurants that they try for the first time, but Blue Fish is a recurring mention). Sushi is fine but overpriced. Chinese is far better than basic takeout. We didn't try anything that would be classified as Thai. read more

A beautifully decorated restaurant with wonderful service. The food was fair and perhaps my friend and I just ordered the wrong things. We had the shrimp shumai which weren't very flavorful and the wrapper was pretty chewy. We also ordered a roll each. I got a spicy tuna which came out super red but wasn't very spicy. My friend ordered the shrimp tempura roll and her shrimp were very over cooked which made them hard. Lastly, we ordered the Thai chicken curry which was lightly flavored. As you got closer to the bottom of the bowl, it tasted more peanut buttery. All and all, I'd come back and try some other things. This was my second time at Blue Fish. My first was great, but this time was completely different. The restaurant was chaotic with people running around everywhere and no crowd management. The seats were not comfortable and service was sporadic. The pork dumplings were the best thing we ordered. The sushi rolls were large, but not the best and were very pricey. The pad Thai was a major let down, it seemed more like a ramen and was really soupy. The sesame chicken was drenched in sauce and the rice was cold. I would not recommend coming here, there are plenty of other great Asian restaurants in OC that are more affordable and offer better cuisine. read more
