Look- this place is 5 stars for customer service and what it really is and doesn't try to be. This is a Chinese takeout with quality food for good prices. I've been eating here for 2 decades now. From when we vacationed at the grandparents place, to when we built our home down the road. I've been coming here for a long time and have eaten probably 50 meals or so from this place. Not 1 of them was bad or had an issue that bothered me. Maybe a greasy egg roll or two out of 100, but that happens on busy nights when the fryer is getting worked hard and can't hold temp or gets over crowded. It happens to all places. That being said, the egg rolls are really good! Tons of fresh veggies and usually fried to a perfect golden brown with very little residual grease left behind. The mixed combo platters are always very fresh and a good portion. From the chicken and mixed veggies, Gen tso, Hunan chicken, noodle dishes, it's all typically very good food. This place doesn't overly salt their food. They don't cover up things by adding MSG or sodium. Most dishes are simple and fresh, left for the consumer to add soy sauce as needed. I don't usually need anything unless a dab or two on my white rice when I choose that over my go to pork fried. This is fresh, quality ingredients done right. read more

Got Chinese carry out after Raven game.. shrimp and lobster sauce combination dinner with white rice and also sesame chicken with the pork fried rice and came with eggrolls. We got the Poopoo platter for the kids. Shrimp and lobster sauce was with the basic white sauce with pieces of ground pork and six large shrimp. The sauce was pretty tasteless.The Poopoo platter had to spareribs to shrimp toast, two pot stickers, Two spring rolls , 2 fry shrimp and 2 Imitation scallops, and two beef on a stick. Nothing to write home about with the appetizer tray. The sesame chicken combination with pork fried rice, The chunks of chicken had a nice sauce but the chicken was very dry and fried too long and the fried rice and it came with was fair with nice pieces of pork read more

Unfortunately i gave this resturant 3 stars instead of 2 or 1 because honestly you should know what you're buying. It's the cheapest chinese in the entirety of Ocean City so if you don't know that you'll have to sacrifice some quality for price then it's sort of your own fault. Aside from that our food was taken back to the hotel and devoured because it was still good, just not the best chinese you'll ever have but places like this have a place in OC where a lot of us are broke college kids who need take out but can't spend too much. i would recommend- only if you don't want to spend large amounts at other places. read more

Great take out near Assateague island. I'm from New England and this is the kind of Chinese food I am used to. With every meal you get two egg rolls ( not those tiny spring roll things you get in most places). My wife liked the sweet and sour chicken ( the sauce comes on the side) and the boneless rib combos. The garlic beef is terrific and not too spicy. The pepper steak combo is also very good. read more

Really good and would go back. Items are hit or miss so find what you like! Pros: above average general tso chicken and lo Mein. Szechuan beef was different from what I'm used to but tasty. Fried rice was just random yellow rice but not a big deal to me but if I loved FR I think I'd be disappointed. The steamed/"boiled" dumplings were terrible and doughy, avoid. We were looking for good, quick Asian food. NOT here. The dumplings were ALL heavy dough. The fried " rice" was yellow rice with a ton of onions ??? My Garlic Chicken had soo much red pepper flakes, I thought it was breaded with them- completely inedible and painful to try. Happy is a Chinese take-out joint and nothing else. Food is prepared for takeout piping hot. The prices are about as cheap as a Chinese restaurant can get (~$7.50 gets you an entree with steam or fried rice, two egg rolls, and a bowl of soup). Quality is a mixed bag. Their Chinese Mixed Vegetables are excellent. And their spring rolls are nice. However, on a recent order of combination lo-mein (I fell off of my vegan "wagon" briefly due to work stress), the meat bits were generally very poor cuts and included a fair amount of dark meat chicken. Also, their soups are generally weak. The hot & sour is neither one or the other and wonton soup is only adequate. And the fried rice is "brown" but it's not from being brown rice and it's unclear that it's from soy sauce. It made me yearn for their simple and fresh white rice. The one place that they excel is that they are predictably fast at preparing meals for takeout. If I'm in West Ocean City and I'm craving some quick Chinese, I'll order and pickup from Happy. Otherwise, I far prefer Ho Feng Garden in Ocean Pines (see my other reviews for more on it). read more

Happy is very very good. I have eaten many a meal from Happy. Lunch Special is a good deal, for little over 5 bucks, you get basically a dinner portion w/rice plus Soda. Dinner is good too; I go enough that they sorta let me make up my own thing, I like to get the fried Tofu with Chinese spicy Pea Pod. It is a good Vegetarian meal. I am not a Vegetarian,but, my girlfriend's a Vegetarian. Which more or less makes me a Vegetarian. read more

My hotel pointed me to this restaurant when I asked about nearby take-out Chinese. It looks pretty unimpressive, so I was delighted by the delicious food! I enthusiastically recommend a visit if you're nearby but note two thing: 1) It's a cash-only operation. They have an ATM on premises if you don't mind paying the fee. 2) It's not an eat-in place, so only go there if you're taking out to eat elsewhere. Enjoy! read more

Happy Chinese is hands down the best Chinese restaurant in the area. Many people do not know about them nor do they know where to find them. If you are ever over at the Ocean City Factory Outlets and are looking for a great place to grab something to eat I strongly suggest you head over to Happy. If you want to find the exact location ahead of time use Google maps to find the Food Line in West Ocean City and it will be 4 stores down from there. Surprisingly good food here, but be warned- the place does not look good on the inside. Its dingy, it's maybe even a little dirty, but the food is good. I found no off flavors on the two visits in two days, and I didn't get sick (yay). This is really basic Chinese carryout. We had the Singapore noodles and the combination fried rice. Both were fine, even if neither had a lot of flavor. The noodles were a little better than the rice. That said the staff was very friendly, the food was ready quickly and I got a good amount of food for the price. Food was great and on time. Just be sure to be ready to pay with cash there is a Wawa and royals farm near by you can get money out on short notice if you need to. You get a decent amount of food for cheap and well cooked and seasoned. I would eat here again when visiting OC in the future. read more

I lived in Ocean City for two summers and we quickly found out there is really only one place to go for Chinese takeout, and this is it. Hidden in a strip mall in West Ocean City, you won't find it by looking for a sign for Chinese Food. The quirky sign out front only says, "Happy". Which, I guarantee you will be after eating there. If only they had a dining room and if only I still lived nearby. Prices are also very reasonable. If you are staying anywhere near the inlet or downtown Ocean City, it is well worth the drive. read more

Unbelievably tasty food. Ok, it doesn't look all that nice and I think it has one table but honestly no one is going to be eating there, it's perfect for take out. Beware, they only take cash and the two sketchy looking ATM machines give you pause but man oh man the food was great. Talk to the people behind the counter to tweak a dish, I asked for extra spicy with the main meal and the fried rice and they nailed it. Everything was cook well and it was a joy to eat. Not bad we had never heard of this place as we visit OC often. I had orange chicken, a hot and spicy soup which was exactly that. My wife had won ton soup and egg foo young it was a bit salty. Spring rolls were small but tasty. Give it a try, I will on my next visit. read more
