Food was great, service was even better. We were a few hours from home and were in the mood for Pizza and Yelp pointed us in the right direction to this roadside gem. It's been over a week since we celebrated our annivesary here. Our pizettas were scrumprious. The best pizza since leaving NJ 29 years ago. Not only were they unique, the leftovers made the 3 hours trip home (we had plastic containers and a cooler) and reheated nicely the next day. All week long, when my husband asked what I want to for dinner (he's the cook, I'm the dishwasher) my answer has been BLUE HIGHWAY. I have it mapped. If we leave home @9a.m. we can be there for lunch, spend some time exploring Micanopy or Ocala and be home, with leftovers, for dinner. Seriously considering a one day road trip! Awesome spot that I've been hearing about for a while! Loved the ambiance of the place, and the pizza was surprisingly good as well. I've always been a big fan of NY style pizza, but ended up trying the Sicilian style pizzas here since everyone hyped them up. We ended up getting a buffalo chicken style pizza, and another that we mostly created for ourselves - it had tomatoes, red sauce, spinach, mozzarella, and chicken. Both of the pizzas were very tasty but honestly the sauce/topping to bread ratio was just all off for my likings. But then again, this is why I like thin crust. Of note, I got some spicy wings which were on point. Not bad at all for a pizza spot. Overall, this is a really chill small spot with some good pizza for great prices. It's definitely not my favorite pizza but for people that like thick crusts and lots of bread, I'd definitely check it out. What a great little place right off of the highway. It's been open for roughly 18 years now and they deliver on taste. All of their dressings (salad) are made in house. The ranch is different, but not terrible. Their Caesar dressing was very different, it had a tang to it, but not in a bad way at all. I got a large Caesar salad and are it all because I loved their dressing. Their pizza was indescribable. We got their wings which were delicious and their homemade chips were perfect. Not too soggy, salty, or crispy- just perfect. No one had a complaint. We will definitely be back! read more

The wings were good but I wish they were spicier and crispier. The meatball pizza had a good sauce and cheese but I thought the meatballs were just ok, I wish I would have ordered the pepperoni to be honest. The white pizza was where it was at. The cheese blend was super addicting, the thinly sliced tomatoes really added to the pizza as did the perfectly roasted garlic slices. The pizza dough is perfect. Every bite was crispy and full of flavor. I say skip the meatball, get the white and call it a day. There are two locations but we like the OG vibe of the first restaurant. read more

I highly recommend stopping by here if you're ever in the Micanopy area. The customer service was great. They offered me and my pup water and we never asked. We'd been planning to eat in last night, but our oven was so cooperating--so Blue Highway pizza it was! I'm from Newberry, so I'd been to the Tioga location; however, neither one of us had been to this Micanopy location. It's an absolute gem. The outdoor seating is adorable with lots of sweet lights strung around. Inside, there are tables, a booth, and a bar. It was a little confusing being new comers coming in. There wasn't a hostess, but one of the servers at the bar helped us and advised that we could sit wherever we wanted. We chose a booth (as one does). There is plenty of art to look at here, lots of interesting pieces. There were real flowers in a vase as decor and a fake candlelight as well. We ordered the Spinach and Brie flatbread as an appetizer to brighten our mood. It was kind of out there for us (it cost $11.50-wicked expensive for a pizza place), but when it arrived, it did appear as a personal pizza sort of thing. I think it could be a great entree for someone not looking for lots of food. It can be made gluten free (for like $3 extra). For pizza, we ordered the BBQ chicken pizza, Sicilian-style (think deep dish). Because of how the pizza is made, it honestly does take a while. Coming out, it is incredibly delicious. It was hard for us to save some for the next day. Would definitely eat here again, but maybe order for pick up to lessen our wait. As a tip for Yelpers, this place is kind of expensive for a pizza joint. However, the vibe is great. The food is great. And, unlike Satchel's, they do accept card. You can bring your dog and eat outside under the tent, or leave him at home and eat inside in the cozy, unique interior. The salads are fresh and delicious. My husband and I just happened to find this place while on the way back home to Georgia. They were extremely busy, and for good reason! There was only waitress, and she was killing it. She did a great job, and was super accommodating and friendly. We both got pizzas, and we both agreed it was the best pizza we have ever had. The chicken salad sandwich was amazing, so fresh and delicious (it had what seemed like sweet house made pickle slices on the side which were not too sweet). The women's bathroom was clean. Some years ago I read the terrific travel tome Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon . Great name - and the book title ain't bad either . Nice to come upon this outpost of hand tossed pizzas with quality ingredients right close to the b&b where we were staying . Amazing how few places can do a (seemingly ) simple Caesar salad right - here they do indeed do it right . Deep green of the romaine , homemade croutons , ditto the dressing and anchovies ! Yay! A fine start . We decided on two basic pizzas - we'd have extra slices for tomorrow too - the four cheese Bianco and the margarita to which we added some spinach and mushrooms . Asked for crispy and they came out just right . A toothsome crust and quality ingredients as I stated earlier - how many pizza places you know that offer say, Gouda ? Capers ? Etc. we sat on the side patio as it's nicely dog friendly. Water for the doggy ? Yes please . Nice waitress glad you're there ? Asking if you'd like another of the local Gainesville brewed craft beer ? Yes please ! My one caveat here would be - the four tables and their occupants can get punished in the back and front as in full sun on my back or in my wife's face midsummer . I'd suggest a roll down and up screen - they're like forty bucks at Home Depot . Two screws and presto ! Comfort for your customers . But I digress . Glad we found you on the road of blue highways .
