First time coming here and had a wonderful experience. We came here on Monday before 5pm and it was quiet. We made reservations in advance and once we arrived we were seated promptly. There was only one waitress, she was very helpful and attentive. We ordered the bruschetta appetizer it was good but wish the bread was crispier. The meals came with either a soup or salad. Caesar salad was okay and the lobster bisque was really great. We ordered the lobster ravioli with shrimp it was delicious. My husband ordered the Filet Mignon with Scallops and pasta. Since we were celebrating our anniversary they provided us a complimentary dessert which we chose the Kentucky Bourbon Pecan Pie. read more

I can't say enough good things about Antonios! What a gem of an Italian restaurant. Located in Micanopy, a rural area between Gainesville and ocala. If you're driving by around dinner time, make the stop! Or, if you're willing to make a short drive out of town, know that The food here stands up to the highest big city standards. I personally love the gnocchi Genovese. The gnocchi here are handmade daily and prepared with care. This dish is on the sweeter side, but I love the creamy pesto combined with balsamic glaze. Divine! One time I stopped by and had a daily special of eggplant rollatini- also extremely delicious. You can't go wrong! Their side salads are fresh and tasty, and their desserts are impeccable as well. I love the tiramisu. The homey atmosphere and conscientious waitstaff are always consistent. Antonio's is one of my favorite Italian staples around northern Florida. Well done, chef! read more

I just want to rave and rave about Antonio's! We made reservations because it's a small restaurant inside a cute old house. There was only one girl working the restaurant besides the chef. She worked the bar, took orders, bussed tables, she did it all, and not only that, she did it well! The food was seriously amazing (I had the pesto gnocchi, decadent!), the ambience was relaxing and intimate, and the service was awesome. Absolutely would return, a very easy 5 stars! Pro tip: Make reservations! It's a very small restaurant with only a few tables, and it is so worth it! read more

We went to Antonio's for a date night last night and really enjoyed our meal. We had the bruschetta as an appetizer - I do agree with previous reviews that we wished the bread was crispy. We were pleasantly surprised to have been given complimentary bread with oil and that our meals came with a side soup or salad. We both had the Caesar and enjoyed it. I ordered the gnocchi, my husband ordered the fettuccine. We both preferred the gnocchi; there was something really incredible about the balsamic with the creamy sauce. The ambiance is tough to judge. The restaurant is a bit in the middle of nowhere and there is a sports bar on the same plot. There are cute chandeliers above each table and fun art of Italy on the walls. It feels like it wants to be fancy, but other diners were in sweatpants - it seems to be a come as you are atmosphere. All of the found came out quickly. Our reservation was at 7pm and we were done by 8pm (although we didn't order dessert). Overall, I would definitely recommend Antonio's. As I read some of the other reviews I find myself wondering if it was the same restaurant. Let me start off by saying this establishment significantly exceeded my expectations! Located just minutes from the bustle of Gainesville. Staff, quaintness, charm, service, choices, variety and food freshness and taste... I have nothing but high praise. Let's start with the ambiance and decor. Interesting art, textured wallpaper, cloth linens. Somewhat retro but still classy. Nothing felt cheesy or tacky. Staff- warm, cheerful, friendly and helpful. Big smiles at the door by a cheery host. Our server was delightful! I so wish I could recall her name. She had extensive knowledge of the menu and no question was too much. Efficient but not overbearing. She was excellent. Food- we each had a soup and ate half and traded. 5 stars as the soup was clearly homemade and delicious. You must order the bruschetta!! (See pic) I had eggplant parmigiana, cooked to perfection and flavorful too. Served with a side of pasta that was cooked perfectly. Hubs had the fish special and he is still raving about it. OMG! We had a birthday dinner tonight at Antonio's Made in Italy. The room was beautiful and quiet. The food was over the top! Cooked perfectly, so tasty. There was 4 of us woman. Two of them had lobster ravioli with shrimp on top. So good! One of them had the early bird special. I had Cedar Key clams in the wine sauce. They were wonderful! We started with the Caprese. That homemade mozzarella was out of this world! Then it was dessert time.... One had the Bourbon pecan pie, two had taramasue. I had Canolli. The service was beyond good. We were greeted by Kerra who was the host. For so young, she literally was totally professional. Our server was Deavon. Ask for her. She goes above and beyond. I really wanted to love this restaurant after searching for a quality Italian spot ever since Leonardo's 706 closed, but sadly it just didn't quite do it for me. The service was amazing, the ambience was nice and quaint, but sadly the food was just decent, and nothing mind blowing. We ordered a burrata to start, and it was definitely the toughest burrata I've ever had. Usually I think of a creamy soft inside when I cut into burrata, however this version was rather tough inside. The burrata was still tasty, just different. Next we went for the chicken parmigiana and the lobster ravioli, and both just left more to be desired. The chicken was somewhat tough and didn't taste well cooked throughout. The lobster ravioli was decent on first bite but the lobster was just overly powerful, and the creamy sauce just made the dish too decadent to eat more than a few bites. I will say the tiramisu was interesting in terms of its deconstructed presentation, and I enjoyed it. I don't think I'll sadly be making the drive out to micanopy for anything other than the pizza up the road, but I enjoyed the pleasant people that I met in the restaurant! read more

Quaint, cozy, very little Italian restaurant. Very small in size, very large in charm and ambiance. We were part of a very large party of ten celebrating a birthday and a graduation. We were able to make a reservation for our large group which was a pleasant surprise. The wait staff were very friendly and efficient. Drink orders, followed by appetizers and entrees. The waitress recommended the Gnocchi and the soup. I had the gnocchi and I thought it was delicious. Others in our group had chicken Parmesan and fettuccine Alfredo. I heard no complaints. They have a good wine list and very good selection of bourbons. One thing I liked the best was that this restaurant has virtually zero cell service. That means your kids won't have their faces buried in their phones . They will actually have to talk and have a conversation with all at the table. I only gave it four stars because the wait staff did make us feel a little rushed. I recommend this restaurant to everyone. read more

I have been here a few times and I really want to like it, but, can't get past how management handles customer complaints. My clams in white sauce were gritty with sand, and on another item the price on the menu was lower than on the bill and the bread was at least a day old. A simple here's a limoncello on the house for your troubles would go a long way. But as happened during a previous visit, they just say oh sorry about that. Given their prices and attempts at being a fine dining establishment, their customer service falls short. read more

Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes. The food here is by far the best food that I've found in a restaurant in Ocala ( technically it's in Micanopy ). It's about a 20 minute drive from downtown Ocala and it is absolutely worth the drive. If you've read my other reviews, you'll know I'm a tough but fair critic. This place left nothing to be desired. Side note, we had a very nice young waiter who was great. Said he lived across the street and his mom raises goats. I bet his mother is proud. Good kid. Anyway, yes yes yes yes yes yes yes. Go. Staying in Micanopy overnight & wanted to eat locally. Most restaurants in the historic district close around 4-5:00, so we thought we'd be driving to Gainesville for dinner, but then found Antonio's. We found the restaurant through our GPS. Parking isn't really defined, so we parked on the grass adjacent to the building. The building looks like it was a farmhouse? The interior though, is quite nice. Linen tablecloths & stretchy covers over the chairs. We were greeted as soon as we walked in & since my husband had called to find out if they were open (we were out front and about 6 minutes too early), had our table ready with glasses of water. Our waiter was very nice (don't remember his name & not on our receipt). We each ordered a glass of wine & Bruschetta Napoletana as our appetizer. The bruschetta was on a house-made bread with fresh local tomatoes, a thin slice of house-made mozzarella & drizzled with a thick balsamic vinegar. Very good, but a little hard to eat because the bread is sliced thick (there was one for each of us). I used my fork to eat the tomatoes that fell onto my plate. For our entrees, my husband ordered the prime rib special (2 sizes & he ordered the largest at $54). I ordered the Ahi tuna over risotto special. The meals come with soup or salad; he ordered the chef's soup of the day (meatball...I'd say it looks like Italian wedding soup but with larger meatball halves). I ordered the Caesar salad. He really enjoyed his soup & my salad was good, especially the dressing. My husband's prime rib arrived, as well as my Ahi tuna. His came with mashed potatoes & green beans. Everything looked & tasted good (I tried a bite of each). He really liked his dinner. My Ahi tuna was cooked just perfect; seared on the outside, nice and raw/pinkish in the center. Seasoning on the outside was delicious. I did not like my risotto with artichokes & olives. The flavors in the risotto did not pair well with the Ahi. The portion of Ahi was huge! We called for a reservation for dinner for my son's graduation from UF. Antonio's is one of the few nice restaurants nearby that starts dinner at 4pm so that we could have a nice family dinner before the graduation. The team at Antonio's couldn't have been nicer. They set a beautiful table, gave exquisite service and made sure to serve us quickly enough to get to the graduation but still made the dinner perfect. The food was amazing. Everything was cooked perfectly and their homemade burrata and mozzarella is absolutely delicious. Rebecca explained everything in such a way to make our mouths water and she didn't let us down. Unique is the best way to describe this place. The restaurant is an ancient small home turned restaurant with old chandeliers and archaic wallpaper to go with the theme. There is no music playing so it can be a little eerie with how quiet it gets at times. Our waiter was even whispering to us due to how quiet it was, trying to not disturb other guests. The place is tiny with room for only about 10 or so small tables. Make sure you have a reservation since they may not be able to seat you without one. The setting of the restaurant and its quaint feel does give a unique and personalized service that you won't really find anywhere else. The service was the high point. They had 3 waiters working and since the place is so small it let our waiter be extremely attentive and personable to us. We ordered a bruschetta appetizer that was just very simple. It tasted fine but was basically just stale bread with chopped tomatoes on top. I ordered a chicken parmigiana that came with choice of soup or salad. I went with a Caesar salad that ended up being literally 3 lettuce leaves uncut with Caesar dressing drizzled and a few croutons. Again it was extremely basic. The chicken parm was delicious however, the sauce was really good. This place is not cheap, and for the quality of food received and for it being a restaurant in an old home from likely the 1800's I don't think it's entirely worth the price you pay. However if you want a truly unique experience and great personalized service, this place would be worth checking out. read more

Absolutely Delicious! I have wanted to eat here for over 5 years but it's not exactly right around the corner for me. Sunday was my birthday and my boyfriend brought me over an hour to this house of delicious bites. We started with the bruschetta which was the low point of the dinner. The bread wasn't crusty and the tomatoes were watery and lacking in flavor. But, a good grind of pepper, a drizzle of their spiced bread oil and I gobbled them right up. It's hard to get good tomatoes without growing them yourself so I'll cut them some slack. When it's your birthday you are given a complimentary cannoli. They import the shells from Italy and the filling is creamy and delicious. I opted to have mine as an appetizer which, I believe everyone should have dessert first but especially when it's your birthday! For our entrees, my boyfriend ordered the gnocchi which were just airy perfection. He ate every single one and remarked how these were better than any he had had in Italy. I ordered the seafood pasta special that had hand cut homemade pasta noodles and perfectly prepared seafood with a light and bright tomato broth/sauce. Just brilliant and balanced. The bread for the bruschetta was, in my opinion, a little too thick and could have been toasted. While the waiter boosted about the owner's homemade cheese, there was only a thin sliver of it on top of the tomatoes. The tomatoes were fresh and very tasty. My prime rib and the ahi tuna was very good. The ahi tuna came with a risotto that tasted good on its own, did not pair well with the ahi. Restaurant worth a try. read more

We come here every time we're on this area. Very nice owners. We brought 2 very well behaved pups and were seated outside at the Depot. A very nice young man ( did not get his name) served our table from the main restaurant. Service was perfect, owner very accommodating. Our dogs are better behaved then most children, see above review! Our food was absolutely delicious. We were yo Italy twice this year and we never ate food this special. My husband is a big fan of the Spaghetti sauce. I prefer seafront. Excellent mussels and Ahi tuna. Homemade Lemonchella. Don't let the one star review influence your decision. Our reservation was at 5:30. We had a great experience at our last visit, but this time was very disappointing. The Seven Layer Lasagna was, at best,two layers and tasted like sauce from a jar, very runny! The Blackened Grouper and rice was terrible as well and extremely disappointing. The only thing that was "good" was the asparagus on the grouper plate. The service was extremely slow, 40 minutes for salads and drinks. The servers are all over the place. I would think with the way the "house/restaurant" is sectioned, you would expect to have one server in one room vs 3 servers in a room fighting to get around each other. The waitress (Kirsten) was the slowest we have ever experienced. Our drink glasses were empty and never refilled even after we requested. The meal finally came and the chicken picatta had great flavor but the chicken was chewy. After dinner we asked to order tiramisu and was told there was none left. Obviously because she was slow everyone else got some and we didn't. As I was coming out of the restroom the waitress (Kirsten) turned over to me with an attitude, and said for future reference the establishment was a reservation only at which point I had had enough of her attitude along with poor service. I told her that she was the worst waitress we have had and She continued to argue with me and told me that she had a lot of tables. The restaurant doesn't have that many tables. I had heard a great deal--all fully encouraging--of Antonio's long before dining there today. A close friend says his parents eat there often when in the Gainesville area for UF football games despite all the restaurants in Gainesville itself and the reviews on Yelp are overall very good. So I had very high hopes, and having dined at two of the best restaurants in Florida two days prior in Saint Augustine (the Floridian and the Ice Plant) my standards and expectations may have been too high. While I want to give Antonio's a five-star rating, I honestly cannot. It's certainly "good" and probably quite authentic, but it's not perfect and I noticed a few issues. The space is charming, a word I rarely use for anything but the best term for this restaurant. It's an old house converted to serve as the restaurant and located at what long was an antique market and now contains this old Cracker-style house, a train depot that was moved to the site, and an old Texaco gas station. They have a deli in the train depot that's open during the day and the restaurant; I'm not sure what their plans for the rest of the property are now. The restaurant's interior is homey and appropriate for a family-run Italian restaurant. It's clear a lot of care and love went into this business. As to the food, my salad was fine: it was clear all the ingredients were very fresh and the menu claims all are sourced locally when possible. I have no complaints over the salad. The gnocchi in a pesto cream sauce was a great concept and overall good, but both too salty and too sweet. The ingredients seemed top-notch and the gnocchi were certainly homemade, but the sauce was just a bit too sweet, too salty, and even too creamy (though I know it ought to be creamy). For Easter they has a special, traditional, Italian Easter panatone cake with lemon curd. The lemon curd was very good but the cake--which resembled a typical coffee cake though I have no doubts it was homemade and made as it should be made per tradition--didn't impress me greatly. The prices seem high: $22 for even a generous serving of gnocchi without any type of meat in a pesto cream sauce seems a bit steep. Obviously, they are running a fine dining establishment and that's great, but all the prices for the pastas seemed high for what they were. The chicken and veal dishes appeared reasonably-priced, however. Thus, the prices and the saltiness and sweetness of the sauce deduct a star from five down to four in my view. All that said, the claim that Antonio's is the best and most-authentic Italian food in our region is quite possibly true. It's only competition would probably be Manual's or Amelia's in downtown Gainesville. As to complaints some reviewers had of the remote location, I think it's nice actually to have something of this caliber between Gainesville and Ocala and it probably gets plenty of business from both cities, as well as Micanopy which is for its size pretty affluent, too. read more

"Disappointment" doesn't begin to describe how I'm feeling after the meal we just ate at this restaurant. First of all, I absolutely loved Antonios' when it was owned and operated by culinary master Antonio (FYI it no longer is!). In fact, I strongly recommended it to more than a dozen people- I urged them to make the drive from Gainesville for the best and most authentic Italian food. I'm now going to have to apologize to the last few, because unbeknownst to me, it has gone downhill big time. Across the board our food ranged from mediocre to bad. For example, the caprese salad was utterly under-seasoned; the Caesar salad looked like it came out of a grocery store kit; the marinara sauce was a watery mess. Speaking of the marinara, it also tasted worse than at least two different jarred marinara sauces currently available at Publix (e.g., Mezzetta, Michaels of Brooklyn). In addition to poor food quality, our meal was also characterized by taking an extremely long time (literally 55 minutes elapsed between seating and bread arrival) and exceptionally bad service. Our waitress, Kirsten, was generally very bad at being a waitress and at one point, she actually blamed an improperly cooked meal on "that meal was made by the sous-chef and he's autistic." Even if he does have Autism spectrum disorder, you don't need to be telling people that, and also that condition doesn't cause people to forget ingredients. The rest of the wait staff also seemed quite awkward and generally had no idea what they were doing. Overall, compared with other Italian restaurants, this formerly-fantastic place is still better than Fazoli's, but worse than Olive Garden. On ethical grounds, the new owners should rename it- to continue to call it "Antonio's" is an affront to that man's good name. read more

My husband is Italian and grew up with the authentic Italian food being cooked in his parents and grandparents kitchens. We tried out Antonio's yesterday and it was amazing to say the least. The cannolis were the best cannolis I've ever had. My husband even said that the food tasted better than the food you get in Little Italy in New York. Maybe my hopes were too high. I really wanted Antonio's to be the Italian that was missing in Ocala. The drive to Micanopy wasn't bad. I was confused when pulling off 441. Is this a barn? Flea Market? Am I in the wrong place? Walking in, we were greeted by the host who told us our table was not ready because they positioned it in such a way that people couldn't get seated. He also let us know it was his first day. We waited outside in a light rain while our table was reconfigured. Once seated, we see there are only a few tables. Ours was beside a suspicious water stain on the ceiling and dark possibly moldy spots nearby on the elderly wallpaper. (I chose to ignore this - still eager to enjoy house made Authentic Italian). Our host returned with menus and whispered that the soup was mushroom. We had wine, and ordered appetizers... they came out in stages- one long after finishing the others. The buratta was good, but needed a bruschetta to spread it on, or a much more substantial salad to offset the significant amount of cheese. Clam and mussels starter had a delicious tomato and garlic sauce, but many of the mussels did not open making me worry about the freshness of ... everything. Entree's were just ok. Chicken saltimboca- sauce was rather sweet- more than a Marsala needs to be. Seafood fettuccine in white sauce was very tasty, and shrimp not over cooked, veal piccata was so very small. Maybe a 3oz portion. Prices would have been fine IF they had delivered on service AND execution of dishes. Been there, did that. No need to go back. read more
