Blue Ice has been around for years, service is ok, prices are ok but nothing that makes this bar/club really stand out! Mostly a hip hop and Latin music venue. It will get packed on event nights as this place is fairly small. Drink specials during the week days is a plus but not a place you really want to hang out at unless you are going to a planned event. read more

I always have a great time when I come to blue ice. The music always makes me get up and dance. I had bottle service the last time I went since my friends were in town. I have never been more disrespected ever like I have here. My friend and I felt like we were judged on because of our race. The waiter was so rude and told us we had to leave even though the owner was trying to have a decent conversation with my friend about the problem we had encountered. During this whole mess all I was waiting for was an apology from them for treating us the way we were treated. Then some of their employees laid their hands on me and started pushing me out. (Mind you they were not wearing masks) I stood there without putting my hands on them and the waiter came and took my personal things from my hand and threw them out the door. This is not the way to be treated! Ever! Yes, I was filmed by them but I hope they realize that I was not doing anything but standing there waiting for an apology and that they realize how horrible of person they were to treat customers that way. read more

This was only my second time at Blue Ice, but I don't think I'll be back. I went for Latin dance, and instead I experienced a metric sh*t ton of extremely over-served college kids. I saw a lot of people keep going back to the bar and they were clearly wasted. That is not why I paid an $8 cover charge. At La Rumba, they don't seem to have the problem of super drunk people jumping up & down and breaking bottles on the dance floor (I stopped counting at 3). Not to mention the girl doing backbends on the dance floor. I felt like I was at a frat house. And nothing but reggaeton after 12:30 or so. I get it- it's south broadway, but you need to work on classing up your act a little, at least on Latin night. read more

Went here off a recommendation from a friend. Paid $14 to get in when the place was 70% empty. Music was good, but immediately after entering I was told to take of my hat. I wish they would have said something before I paid to come in. I am dressed in a $200 Robert Graham shirt, nice jeans and $300 boots to put it into perspective so it wasn't like I was inappropriately dressed. They played salsa / mambo style music most of the night, not club beats. Crowd was fun, lots of people were up dancing. Door staff were courteous and warm, service was great, and drinks were strong. Blue Ice is my favorite Tuesday night hot spot. Dark Tuesdays provide excellent goth/industrial/new wave/80's music to dance or just chill out to. Cover is always FREE!!! The drink specials and bartender (Michelle) are outstanding in every way of the word. The club is spacious and there are always plenty of places to pop a squat if you aren't dancing. It might not be everyone's cup of tea but it sure is mine!! Give it a chance before everyone makes your mind up for you!! I always have a blast!! read more

I've only been here during happy hour, which is 2-4-1! This place isn't your typical south Broadway bar, but the drinks were good and cheap. It was totally empty, which is one of the reasons why we went in and offered a great happy hour. The music was alright and we sat at the bar. We were just there for drinks but the bartender offered to stamp out wrists so that we could come back later that night and avoid paying the cover, which I thought was super nice. We didn't end up going back, but it's an option if you want to grab a happy hour drink, have dinner somewhere else and come back to dance. St. Patty's Day weekend was walking and happened to notice a little sign but it had the best deal. So we went in and had the place to ourselves because it was pretty much empty. After a few enjoyable beers more people began to flood in and after they noticed the cheap prices they stayed. Last night was the first and last time that I will step foot inside Blue Ice. My partner and I went to specifically hear and see DJ Rockstar Aaron as that is always a treat. He certainly lived up to our expectations and then some but Blue Ice in particular? I think not. I had given the female bartender my card to keep the tab open when I first placed my order of two, Cranberry & Soda Water with a Lime drinks (no alcohol). I knew that we would be staying for at least a little bit, hence the open bar tab. When we finished with those two drinks, I went up to order one more Cranberry/Soda Water/Lime drink and a Mandarin Orange Vodka and Soda cocktail. The bartender asked what the last name was and I gave it to her. (Mind you, my last name is definitely no "Smith" so it would be highly difficult for anyone to add anything to my bar tab because of the difficulty in the pronunciation of it!) Then, my partner went up to the bar to simply order a glass of ice water. (No charge mind you) We decided it was time to leave and I went up to the bar to close out. I got my tab which turned out to be $18.00!!!!!!!!!!!.....Wait, $18.00 for 3 Soda Waters/Cranberry & 1 Vodka/Soda Water????.....So I inquired about it.....The bartender stated that the 3 Cranberry / Soda Waters were $3 each along with the special on the vodka drink which was also $3. Hmmmm.....So that would be 4 drinks at $3 each which should total $12.00 not $18.00.....She went to the register and hit the itemized print out which included a PBR? The people at my table were the DJ, my partner and I and two other friends one which was drinking a cocktail and the other was drinking a coke which he paid for himself in cash. Not one person was even drinking a beer? She rudely explained that I......"shouldn't have my friends come up and put their drinks on my bar tab!"......EXCUSE ME????.....None of my friends are coming up and putting anything on my tab because they're not even drinking beer???......She responded by literally throwing her hands in the air, turning around and making a frustrated "UGGGH" sound as if we were bothering her. Then she completely ignored us while she took not one, not two but three new drink orders from 3 new customers while we were there trying to rectify the issue. As she came walking by she looked at us and said, "Can I just take care of these people first?" and I said "Um no, we are trying to close out and you can take care of our problem first." I proceeded to explain the discrepancy in the price and she just said "Just take the difference off the total"..........Um...............How in the world am I supposed to just "take the difference off the total" when my credit card was charged the wrong amount?!?!?!?!......My partner decided to chime in because she is a bar manager and stated that she would have to make that change in the computer to reflect the proper charge and to fix it in the system......So I gave her my card but at that moment, my partner said that I might get charged twice because the bartender obviously didn't know what she was doing. Meaning, she would have probably charged me the original $18 which was incorrect and then simply run my card again for the lower amount and not do anything about the original charge. So I immediately said, "Just forget it.....Give me my card back." I proceeded to leave her a tip in the amount of ZERO. I will be keeping an eye out on my bank account to make certain that the charge shows up exactly in the amount of $18 and nothing more. The bartender was rude, was short, didn't know what she was doing and seemed totally confused. It was quite awkward. I will never be back again. HORRIBLE. read more

This place is so hit or miss. Some nights, I've had the best dancing nights of my life, other times, I run as fast as I can from here. I love when I come in and it's fun top 40 music, and the goth music can kind of be fun as well. We stop by here after we hit up Historians or Irish Rover, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here. I do love how the crowd isn't pretentious and the drink prices are great. I wish I had moves good enough for salsa, because I'd def come for that! read more

STAY FAR AWAY. Great venue, just horrible service and drinks. We even got the $250 bottle/table service and still couldn't even get the wait staff to give us glasses to drink out of. Five people around a table drinking out of a bottle for $250. Not a fun time. We didn't tip when we paid and then they went ahead and charged us a $30 tip anyway. Now I have a dispute with my bank. Poor customer service. Make sure they give you the right debit card back and not give yours to someone else. Always ask for a reciept and get names of staff if they help you with a negative interaction. Use to love the atmosphere here and the dancing venue but poor I teraction with management and others made it horrible. read more

What the hell is this place still doing in business? They used to have a velvet rope, bouncer, and parked Ferrari in front trying to draw the cool(?) Crowd, but appear to have abandoned that. I'm so glad they're no longer blasting crappy music to the sidewalk. I walk past all the time, but have never seen more than ten people there. It doesn't take much to load your bar with people in Baker (see historians next door, hornet, hell, even Badgers!).
