Family dinner at the light house !
    Anthony O.

Took the family here for something different for a send off for a family member. I can say the staff is not used to dealing with more than a group of 10 as they weren't sure how to split the bill with everyone and made it more of a us problem . I will say this is not a kid friendly place as they don't have any kid menus options or kid choices on drinks but this was to be expected when checking reviews before hand. I was disappointed in not seeing drink options on the menu and when asking about alcoholic drinks i was told the bar is open. To say the least they where still very friendly for being low staffed and a little on the busy side. I ordered the Boom Boom shrimp which was a little surprising how good it was with a little heat kick to it. Main coarse was the Philly Cheese which which was a little bland on favor but got the job done. Now with my other family members meals they where a few missing items, orders cooked and placed wrongly, and was pretty disappointing in flavor with steaks as they tasted of propane. Don't get me wrong i love supporting small and local business but food and experience was a little of a let down.

    Fried Mushrooms and chicken fingers!

I have been here several times in the past over the years as this is my parents local cheers...literally. When you walk in they all know each other around the bar and have formed a bond here at the Blue (as the locals call it ;)) The people are all very friendly, the prices are reasonable and you are never left waiting for a drink! Last night, we sat at the bar and ordered the Bam Bam shrimp...delish. Five very plump shrimp flash fried and then doused in this creamy spicy sauce. Next up were the chicken fingers and fried mushrooms. The chicken fingers are phenomenal. The plate of mushrooms were heaping and had melted cheese sprinkled over the top. YUM. Last nights specials were the prime rib for $9.99 and the smothered steak for $11. The prime rib seemed to be a local fave. In addition to the bar, there is a large dining room that is usually quite busy on a Friday or Saturday night. OH, and lets not forget the best part about the Blue...Pull Tabs! $1 a piece with winnings up to $500 if you're lucky! On several occasions we have pulled a $100 and a $300. VERY fun! If you're in the area looking for a fun place to check out definitely stop in at the Blue. Who knows, you might just be a new addition to the Cheers club they have formed there. Be sure to ask about the "Drink of the Day" club. Its $30 for the year and you get a free drink everyday as well as a birthday dinner for $10. Oh, and ask for Kim, she is a hoot :)

This was without a doubt the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The service was awful. The food was mediocre at best.

The service was fantastic, even made a few jokes. The place is beautiful and the views are nice. Focaccia - $13 - I asked if this was house made bread, and they said yes, so I went with this over the Burrata appetizer. The bread was fantastic, and the whipped ricotta was delicious. It's simple but very good. 5/5 stars. Lobster Bisque - $15 - Good flavor, decent amount of lobster. I was pleasantly surprised how good this was. 5/5 stars. Cascade Salad - $9 or $14 - This was pretty good as well. A different family member ordered this and I was also pleasantly surprised again. It ALMOST makes me want to order it (if they didn't have lobster bisque). 5/5 stars. 16oz Ribeye with Black Truffle Butter - $78 + $4 - The sear was perfect, the medium rare cook was spot on, and the flavor couldn't be better (well, almost, because my Black Truffle Butter was more like wine butter). Here's my gripe, if you put something was Black Truffle Butter why on earth is there wine?! My body can't process alcohol (which is why I don't drink), and when I taste uncooked alcohol, all I taste is alcohol. So, this was my only gripe. I couldn't taste any truffle, just alcohol. I had to switch with my husband for parts of his New York Strip, and he took the parts of my steak that had the truffle butter. 5/5 stars, but the Truffle Butter 0/5 stars. 14oz New York Strip - $69 - Perfect sear, cook, and flavor. You really can't go wrong with the steaks here. 5/5 stars. Grilled Asparagus - $14 - Perfectly cooked, and not stringy. 5/5 stars. Au Gratin Potatoes - $14 - These potatoes everyone loved. Normally, I'm not a bread crumb topping person, but it works here. 5/5 stars. Mashed Potato - $12 - These are just typical steakhouse mashed potatoes. Smooth and good, you couldn't make them better, but they get outshined by all the other dishes. 5/5 stars. Creme Brulee - $9 - This was to die for. Whatever cream they use is so good. One of the best creme brulees you could ever get. 5/5 stars. I apologize for the lack of picture, apparently I was so excited that I just forgot to take one. This place is one of the best restaurants in Indiana. You need to go here. Just don't get the truffle butter, unless you like alcohol. Everything else is amazing.

The restaurant is clean and attractive. I had the Croque Madame, which was literally perfect, and better than those I had in Paris. The bread was perfectly toasted, the cheese perfectly melted, the egg perfectly cooked (not runny, not overly hard), the ham perfectly salted. Others in my group enjoyed the Short Ribs Benedict, Grand Bebe, and Tortilla de Patatas. (I'll note our first visit was the morning after a Notre Dame home game, and their stores were depleted: we could have anything on the menu as long as it was chicken. :) The chicken dishes we had that visit were very well done as well - moist and juicy on the inside and lovely on the outside. Obviously we came back, just not after a home game!)

Onion Soup Gratinee - $11 - Needed salt and wasn't very flavorful. 2/5 stars. Chorizo and Shrimp - $22 - This was easily the best dish. Cooked well, good flavor, and a decent portion (probably because the price is so high). 4/5 stars. Chicken and Leek Puff Pastry - $26 - The pastry was lacking. It was soggy, weird taste to it, and just not pleasant. The filling was also mediocre. Don't get this. 0/5 stars. L'Entrecote de Paris (Steak Frites) - $45 - The steak was chewy, the fries were over salted. For $45, this was not enough steak, whatsoever. Not like it was a good cut either. It's a rip off. 0/5 stars. Pan Roasted Duck Breast - $36 - My mom and I both ordered this, and we could combine both of our dishes to make ONE duck breast. Portion was horribly small. Never have I ever been given HALF a duck breast. The sauce wasn't good either and it was broken. 2/5 stars cause the rest of it was cooked fine. The birthday dessert was a scoop of ice cream and some stale cinnamon pastry thing. This was wildly bad. If the flavors were on point, the prices would be understandable. But the flavors were bad, the prices are expensive, and we waited a very long time to get our food. We couldn't get into a different restaurant that night (it was a Saturday night on move in weekend), but this one we could get into, and now we know why. Don't go here.
