Blue Monkey Shaved Ice is an awesome hot day treat stop. The flavors are really good without being overwhelming, and the shaved ice itself is perfectly shaved and the ideal texture. The customer service was also great and made the whole experience even better. Definitely a fun spot for a refreshing treat, especially on a hot day. The Cool Springs location is card-only, so keep that in mind before you go. I'll definitely be back to try more flavor combinations. read more

On a hot Tennessee day, this shaved iced was exactly the thing to cool us off for a few minutes. The amount of syrup coating the snowball shaped shaved ice was sweet & just the right amount. From the vast menu of choices, our group tried: Sour gummy worm, tart cherry/lemonade, watermelon & rainbow. So delicious! We got coconut, banana, pineapple. After we got back Hawaii we craved some shave ice like we had on the island. We found a perfect treat to satisfy our craving with Blue Monkey! They didn't have ice cream when we went so hopefully they have it next time but they did have the cream for kn top. We loved it! So yummy! read more

Loved this little truck! It was located across from Draper James in the 12South neighborhood of Nashville. They have lots of flavors and the ice is real shaved ice. Had a wide variety of classic flavors like blue raspberry, watermelon, strawberry, piña colada and such but also had 'premium' topping flavors such as Key lime pie! Had blue raspberry and strawberry. The strawberry was so natural and delicious! The blue raspberry was good too. The only criticism I have is that it is a bit expensive for shaved ice. I paid $5 for a medium which is a bit steep. It also took a while to get the ice because there were only two people working. Nonetheless very yummy and would visit again! read more

On a hot day, this shaved ice really hit the spot! I got the piña colada flavor and was pleasantly surprised. I've been to shaved ice spots where all of the flavoring sits at the bottom, but here all of the ice was pretty evenly coated. For the price, you don't get a ton of shaved ice, but it was still worth it in my opinion. If you see this little truck on the side of the road, you should definitely give it a try! read more

I'm not usually a fan of shaved ice. Mainly because of the artificial flavorings & sugary syrup it's doused in, BUT this place was awesome. Very disappointed in service!! The sno cones themselves were delicious but the service was terrible! Three teenage girls were working and were snarky and rude. They proceeded to make faces at my daughter then laugh and whisper. It's a shame the workers ruined the experience! Won't be coming back unfortunately. Even as we walked away two of the girls were still laughing and making faces. read more

Understatement of your life, Alex P. This place is AMAZING, definitely the BEST shaved ice you will ever experience. Ice so smooth you'd swear you were eating frozen clouds from heaven. Seriously folks...the Watermelon Basil will change your life. I also love Pineapple Cilantro! These savory flavors can make you feel like you've just had a well balanced meal; get the ice cream in the middle and you DID just have a meal. I can't say enough great things, their staff were so genuine and helpful. **I've never even had a Help account; but felt like it was my duty to enlighten the world after eating there! The staff is always so warm and friendly. Most restaurants with white table cloths and prices we can't really afford, give me the feeling that I do not belong- no matter how I dress or how I talk, and I often end up feeling small. This is not Locust in the slightest and it is clearly on purpose. The chefs always bend/squat down at the table at eye level, explaining any questions you may have about the menu and giving great suggestions. As a guest here, I don't feel intense hierarchy here, and I don't feel a lick of condescension. It feels like they just want to share some truly delicious and special food with you. You, no matter who you are, are more than enough at Locust. The only thing on the menu we did not get was the caviar. We saved up for a year for this meal and every dish was wonderful. Every dish feels so lovingly thought out and intentional. Each one made me close my eyes and smile as the flavors and textures invited me to be present and here with this food, not thinking about anything else in life. My favorite dish came alongside our pillow-y potato bread with perfectly toasted exterior. This was the scallop and yellowtail with black currants. I took a bite of the scallop and lost myself in the gorgeous flavors while I chewed. Then, I felt my eyes well up. "Wait wait, what? Am I about to cry from how incredible this dish is? I can DO that? But I love food and I've never felt this before?" I panicked, trying to stop myself- embarrassed at the thought of crying in a restaurant full of people. Eventually, I realized I needed to go to the restroom to splash some cold water on my face and fix my notatallwaterproof mascara. I returned to the table and told my husband that I was worried about my crying and he said that a member of the staff checked in with him when I went to the bathroom and asked if I was alright and my husband explained the situation- joyful tears. For the rest of our meal different members of the staff would often relay stories of how people have had tears of happiness after eating certain dishes there. It was a compliment to them. Suddenly, I felt at ease. This is the first time that's happened to me, and it was their amazing food that did that. What a testament to the dishes they create and the environment they provide. Stunning. The food at Locust moved me. As did the staff. It is absolutely the best meal I have ever had. I hope whoever reads this will take the chance to experience that for themselves too.

The bowl is literally made up of two tiny scoops of açaí that they press down, hollow out in the center, and smear up the sides to make it look full. Once you add toppings, the whole thing is maybe half full at best. For reference, two bowls cost $38 before tip. For that price, I expected a legit serving, not an illusion of one. Usually I'm NOT a small size orderer when it comes to iced treats but I feel full and completely satisfied. A bit sad that it's over but glad that it happened! Cannot wait to go back. When purchasing two bags at the Titans game, we were tracked down by one of the workers on the way to our seats as the purchase had not gone through. Totally understandable; however, she wanted me to stay put out of eyesight from the stand while she went back to the stand to run my card. I was not okay with that, so we followed her back. I watched her run my card two more times minimum, and I had a feeling she overcharged me. She told me to reach out on Instagram or email if the charge was wrong, and sure enough I had been charged twice. I reached out with my receipt info and details of the charge and have yet to hear back...all while they've posted on Instagram plenty more times. Again, the kettle corn was fine -- not bad or I would give it a lower rating. The service really did rub me the wrong way as I followed their instructions to then have to dispute the charge. If they are going to have a social media presence, they need to respond to customers. I'd try it again if someone else buys it for me. Update: I changed my review to four stars as I do appreciate the message to try and make things right.
