I was having breakfast yesterday here, and I went in around 1:46 after our milkshake was dropped off by the (manager) tall server took our order. It was about 2:15, I heard her say to the 2 other servers to hurry and bring us boxes, because she had "shit" to do and she didn't think we heard, hard to miss when she was yelling at the server as to why she didn't bring us a box, I enjoyed the service of the two other girls, sadly to see we won't be back due to her rudeness. read more

The food was okay and the portions are large. They said they had fresh squeezed orange juice and it really wasn't. So the 2 stars are for the food. What was really not good was the feeling of the people seeming like they were uncomfortable with Black humans. I will say they really tried to be pleasant despite the uncomfortableness. Sometimes you go to a place and things are a little off, and you're not sure why and you try to think the best. That's what happened here. DO NOT EAT HERE. Save Your Money and Your Patience I have given this restaurant more chances than any reasonable person should. Two years of chances, simply because it is across the street from my gym. Let me make this clear. The food is below average, the prices are insulting, and the chef is consistently unable to cook even the most basic breakfast dishes. I have sent back potatoes over a dozen times because they were so undercooked or poorly prepared that they were completely inedible. I even tried to work around this by ordering french fries instead. They charged me extra just for the privilege of edible potatoes. Today was the final insult. I asked politely for them to fry the potatoes properly, something they have done before, and they flatly refused. Think about that. After two years of serving me bad food, they would not make a small accommodation for a loyal customer. The only redeeming thing here has ever been the kind wait staff. But no amount of friendly service can make up for consistently bad food and an arrogant kitchen that refuses to improve. If you want breakfast done right, spend your money somewhere that actually respects you. Here are better options nearby. While the wait staff were friendly and welcoming, the food was really bad. First French toast was obviously burnt- to the point Im surprised it was even served. I took the dish to the waitress and told her. She apologized and I was brought a new order. The next order, while it wasn't burnt tasted very bland with little flavor. I have eaten here 5+ times. Not a single time did they get my order right. I often get cold food. It's as if the cooks & waitresses hate each other. And the waitresses seem to hate life. They're always in a super foul mood - and they're not shy about it. They're miserable and anyone within earshot has to listen to them gripe. Hire a manager. I want to start by saying that this place has come a long way since it opened. Breakfast is now my favorite meal at Blue Moon. The staff is friendly, and although the space is small, it feels like a "real diner"--a pleasant surprise along Donald Ross Rd. Sitting outside on nice days is wonderful. I recommend their omelettes and the accompanying dishes. The crispy home fries and biscuits are also great. Meals range from $8-11 depending on orders, plus beverages and tip - expect to pay ~$15pp. I enjoyed an excellent omelette to my liking, and the service was super friendly, engaging (with a wit) and speedy! I chose the Blue Moon omelette with Bacon, Avocado (perfectly ripe), cheddar cheese and they substituted fresh grilled mushrooms for tomato. Comes with fresh home fried potatoes which I ordered extra crispy, and they delivered. This meal was perfect to break my fast for the day, yummy! A quaint, homey diner that has been my favorite morning breakfast spot as of late. During weekdays it is generally quiet and service is fast, with no waiting times. I went once on a Sunday and I had to wait about 20 minutes, which is the standard for most coffee shops/diners in the area anyways. The breakfast is a great deal and my boyfriend and I have become regulars here. I highly recommend the blue moon omelette which has bacon, avocado, spinach and tomato as well as the short stack of pancakes. The waitress Laurie is super sweet and very attentive as well who goes out of her way to make sure my food is out quickly before I have to go to work. This is a absolutely the spot. The breakfast is very consistent no matter what you're having- eggs, pancakes, salmon Benedict is very good. Lunch is just as good- great burgers, fries are crispy. This is a real diner, with outdoor seating, and friendly service every time. It's not normally crowded and it's not disgustingly overrated (cough berry fresh cafe cough). To anyone- but especially to a New York transplant- if you call yourself a New Yorker, this diner needs to be part of your rotation. read more

Today we had multiple problems which changed how I feel about this diner. They use to have great food and great service. Now both areas are lacking. 1. They were unable to make us soft bacon. The waitress even said," that's as soft as your gonna get", even though the bacon was CLEARLY crispy. 2. There were lumps in our grits. 3. The waitress spoke rudely to the chef. 4. A Customer came in with a puppy. The waitress asked to hold the puppy and placed it on her body. Then proceeded to serve customers without washing her hands. Nasty, I had a truly unpleasant visit here. Firstly I must have bad memory because I had a bad experience previously, but my husband really liked the place. So we tried today and was worse than ever. One of the waitresses was sneezing like crazy, no wearing mask and wasn't covering her mouth while sneezing, so bad. Second was a dog inside and didn't had any emotional or support jacket but was a cute little dog and well behaved (a live animals more than I like people) the problem was that my waitress was petting the dog and bringing food to the customers without washing her hands so after we placed our order and waited for 10 minutes looking at that scene we just paid our check and left didn't even received our food but both of us didn't have the stomach to process the food. So please someone report this to the health department, is unacceptable. read more
