Service here has gone way down hill. Took 5 mins to take our drink order and others that were seated before us got taken care of before we did. No one has been by to give us our check and we've been sitting with food untouched for a while. I've always loved the food here...their egg rolls are perfect, and I like to get chicken fried rice made to order. The "fried rice" that comes with lunch combos, though is just like plain rice tinted brown. I adore egg drop soup but this restaurant's refusal to include the crispy won tons with the soup has led me to make an extra stop to buy it elsewhere! The lady wanted to charge $1.80 extra to have a few pieces of wontons! No, thank you. My other fave is the Hawaiian Chicken, but the last time I ordered it, it was really thick, tough and strangely rubbery. Not very enjoyable at all. Hoping that was just a fluke. read more

It is outrageous how implausible some people's ratings/comments here are. I get that when it comes to food and dining experiences many things can be subjective, but Blue Moon is no doubt a four-starred Chinese restaurant in Edmond, Oklahoma. First, Blue Moon is reasonably priced. They have lunch specials, dinner meals, and family meals, all of which are in the price range of 8-10 dollars. Their dinner meals and family meals come fried wontons, egg drop soup and a drink. Second, you receive excellent service here at Blue Moon. I find the staff to be always very friendly and accommodating, and my friend who has been coming to Blue Moon for at least twenty years reports that their high quality of service has remained consistent over the years. We have been getting to know some of their staff more personally and it has been nothing but a pleasure knowing each of them. Third, of course the food. What I probably like the most about Blue Moon is that they have a rather well-balanced menu of authentic-ish and Americanized Chinese food. No, they do not have truly authentic Chinese food, but they have quite a few dishes in Chinese food's spirit. Speaking as someone who has been eating authentic Chinese food for more than two decades, Blue Moon satisfies me most of the time and sometimes surprises me. Of course, they also have decent Orange Chicken, Beef Broccoli and such. I would also like to mention that they are very generous with their offerings. We almost always ask for a to-go box because there is always so much food left. Last but not least, they also have *very* good iced tea. It is a killer selling point for me. Blue Moon is the best Chinese food in Edmond, hands down. I'm so shocked that the reviews aren't better! I've been going here with my mom & grandmother since I was a baby, and their food hasn't changed at all. It's the same great food and service that it's always been. They have the BEST: - Egg rolls (made with peanut butter... so yum!) - Sesame chicken! The sauce is unbelievable, and the chicken is always crispy, never greasy or over breaded. - Crab Rangoon! It's perfect! - Garlic Frittered Chicken I love to take family and friends from out of town to eat here, and they are always throughly impressed. Their lunch specials are great, and they serve lunch 7 days a week until 3:30. Love that! I hate that other places only have lunch specials M-F. Been coming here for 20 years and I feel like all of a sudden they forgot what good service is? Anytime you order egg drop soup it ALWAYS comes with a crispy wonton for the top. I drive all the way to north Edmond all to get home and get no wontons. I call them back and they tell me "it costs extra and you have to ask for it." Never had that ever happened before. The last time I ate here was 5 years ago or so, and I wasn't very impressed. We decided to give it a try again. I got the sesame chicken combo to go. Whatever it was tasted nothing like any sesame chicken I've ever had. The sauce was orange, but didn't taste like oranges. So, I'm not sure what I got. It it was sesame chicken, it tasted nothing like any sesame chicken I've ever had before. It was super salty and tasted like soy sauce. I ate two bites and threw it in the trash. The egg roll was okay, but nothing special. Don't think I'll be giving it another try anytime soon. read more

Blue Moon has been my family's go-to Chinese restaurant for my entire life. Literally my entire life. My parents have told me stories about how the wait staff always got so excited when my mom would bring me in with with her as a baby of only a couple months. I've grown up eating there. And of all the Chinese restaurants I've ever eaten at, I've still never found a better egg roll. They have very decent prices and their new renovation has definitely provided a nicer environment. I'm giving them 4 stars because like with any business, occasionally there will be days when things just don't go as well as normal. So I have had a couple dining experiences in which the food was not up to their usual, delicious standards. But it is very uncommon. Overall, I really love Blue Moon! read more

From what I can gather, this place has been here a long time and therefore a lot of Edmond residents grew up eating here. It seems as though many have a fondness of this place associated with their memory as a kid, which is great and I'm glad this place has been able to stay in business for so long and that so many people enjoy coming back here. I am not one of those people. I've heard about this place for years and just never came. Well tonight I decided to give it a shot and judge for myself. The service was really good and everyone was extremely friendly. The prices were fair and the atmosphere was about average. The food was below average in my opinion. Things were over cooked, some were over battered, most of the chicken was dry, chewy and completely bland. It was edible and the portions were large. There are so many other nearby Chinese places thought that have much higher quality food with such better flavor. Therefore I cannot recommend this place. It's fine for what it is and I'm glad several enjoy it, but I won't be returning. read more

I wanted to like Blue Moon. I went there for take-out for the first time last night. I drove all the way home and part of the order was wrong, so I had to drive all the way back (during rush hour, of course). They apologized and fixed the order. The food seemed pretty mediocre quality to me. The tiny chicken squares in the chicken fried rice were so unnatural looking, and the Cantonese chicken chow mein was an inedible mess. This the second worst Chinese restaurant food I've had in Oklahoma City's metro area. I thought that when you fry something, it must turn out delicious; even the egg rolls were disgusting. Sigh...it makes me sad when I eat bad Chinese food. There is just nothing worse then overbreaded dry chicken in sticky sweet syrup. Maybe I'm too harsh on this suburban restaurant but I found my order of orange chicken inedible. The restaurant itself is run down and has several ceiling tiles stained with leaks. The few strong points of this establishment would be the wonton soup which was excellent and the service. Sometimes I'll throw in a crab Rangoon. I've never been disappointed when going here. The staff is super friendly and willing to help any way they can. When I lived in Edmond I would come here specifically for the egg rolls. I would mix some soy sauce with the orange sauce that they have at the table and dip the egg rolls in it. It has been many years since I have moved but I still deem this place as my favorite Chinese restaurant. I love that the chicken is white meat and the breading is nice and crisp. My favorite being the Hawaiian chicken having those little pineapples on top just make the meal. Their crab Rangoon is also something special. The taste and the texture of these is a real treat. I moved away to San Diego and have only been back to Oklahoma once. Even tho I went to Tulsa to visit friends I had to make a special trip to go out there. I haven't found another place like it I wish I could figure out how to make those egg rolls and that orange sauce they have it would make my life really! read more

This restaurant was the top rated one by our "neighborhood" group, so we tried it. Saturday night, about 14 folks there. Prices were moderate to low. Wonton soup was really good except for some cubes of meat they put in that was chewy. Fried rice was pasty and not very warm. The Teriyaki chicken was so dry I was wondering if it was reheated from lunch. Teriyaki flavor was ok. The "Four Season Delight" seemed to have real chicken and shrimp, but the scallops were rubbery and likely fake- as was the crab. It was served fairly hot, but lost it's heat quickly spread out on a large plate. Nice server, but not very attentive. Not going back. read more

This is an amazing Chinese food place I have been to in Edmond. I go to Blue Moon to eat with my friend and the place is very nice inside. My friend's mother had been eating there for a while and she had no problem with it and Neither do I! Their Hawaiian chicken is amazing and so is the fried rice! (Egg rolls are delicious!)
