We were passing thru Coos Bay about 1030am and we were getting hungry. (We left Salem at 7am and were heading to Bandon for the weekend). Everything I was finding on Google in the area was Thai or Mexican and then I found this place so we decided to give it a try. Hailey was very friendly and helpful when we asked questions about some of their food. I got the Biscuits and gravy with hashbrowns. Also called the "Half and Half" My boyfriend got the Chicken Fried Steak with hashbrowns, eggs and toast. He said the CFS was got and delicious tho the hashbrowns could have been cooked a little longer. They should be a bit crunchy and these were not. read more

We have eaten here many times and have had pretty good luck on the food here but tonight we experience almost raw hamburger super overcooked bacon and the most flimsy of fries that we have ever had! We will be back, but probably only on our Sunday mornings! read more

The cook, waiter, cashier are all the same person! He tried his best, but shame on the owners for allowing this. There was nobody else in the restuarant and my family went in for dinner. The man took our order, took 20 mins to put it into the computer, and then another hour to cook the food. Everyone's food came out cold except the last dish. The gravy was disgusting, my burger was supposed to have a fried egg on it but it was very overcooked. We also order a red beer and asked the owner (who was bartending at the time) for extra tomato juice and he replied "I put in enough". We will never ever waste our money there again, and never recommend it! read more

With the Blue Moon reopened after being closed for almost a year, it was time to see what had changed and in which direction. Imagine it is 1960. There are no franchises in Coos Bay to eat at. Food is made fresh everywhere and it is regular folks food served in logger sized portions. That is hardly gourmet but it is something that is much better than the frozen SYSCO and Food Service Of America hogslop being purveyed at most local establishments these days. What was ordinary and taken for granted back then is now a delight to see come back since this kind of food is rare. My friend ordered the fried chicken, which is deep-fried, not pan-fried, while I had a burger and fries. We split a shake and yes, it is made from real ice cream and tastes great. If the chicken had been seasoned better it would be killer as the pieces were decent but plain in their flavor. The mashed potatos and gravy with bits of skin were quite delicious. Corn is corn and it was served in abundance so toss in a couple pieces of toast and there you have it. The burger was about half a pound, served on a Franz brand hamburger bun with all the usual sides although the red onion was fragmented and I like my onion white. Fries were just average but lots of them were on the plate. Sizzler still has the best burger in town in my opinion but this one comes close. Inside the Blue Moon the layout looks as before but everything is nicely cleaned up. Service is decent and informal in that small town way that is good. Food will not be served quickly as this is not fast food so be patient and wait. With the back parking lot paved (but needing a couple of potholes filled), it is an improvement over the former gravel and mud lot. The bar area is largish and a place for the band with space for people to dance in a close quarters fashion is in place. The only thing missing from the Blue Moon's last glory days are the blackjack tables. I never had much for luck on them when they were there...LOL! Urban Bistro is not the Blue Moon's theme but if you want lots of regular food made from fresh ingredients, this is the place to go. We will be back to try other items on their menu and maybe we'll like them better! read more

Just a quick note about their "karaoke" night, don't be fooled by the name. The guy in charge of karaoke is more interested in being a deejay and playing several regular songs in a row, while yelling obscenites during what must have been world's worst pool game. Made singers wait a good twenty to thirty minutes to have a turn at the lousy mike provided, though his mike works just fine. One patron said he waited a hour and a half the night before, which had been billed as "open mike", yet he said it was just two crappy bands playing all night, no turns for any other performers. Seems like a private party, don't bother seeking an invitation, it's a real drag. read more

First time I ate here a few months ago, I was thrilled by the old-fashioned diner atmosphere and the typical diner waitress - mature, friendly, helpful - who served me/ I loved their hamburger melt, and overall was pleased. However, recently, I was lured in by the sign outside "3 tacos $6.25) I was served by a young man in a cap, looking more like a denizen than waitstaff or the cook (as it turns out). He eventually brought me a plate on which rested 3 uncooked taco shells with some mixture inside. I protested that the tortillas were cold; he pinched one and reassured me that the mixture inside was warm. Well, isn't that just precious? No lettuce, no onion, no pico de gallo...no resemblance to any taco I ever saw. Give me a break!!! I told him the plate was unacceptable and left, really annoyed that I had wasted my time and energy on the place. read more

Used to work there, owner is absolutely terrible, toilets have been broken for months, the bartender has to dump buckets of water through out the day to flush them, theres a constant mice problem he neglects and leaves it to the staff to place traps. Does not do any maintenance to anything. Takes money from his safe to gamble on the lottery machines while he has the bar under staffed, refers to his staff in derogatory terms. He is constantly intoxicated trying to pick fights with patrons, or will be in the parking lot yelling and pushing his wife around. The owner of the moon should not be supported, but the staff is absolutely amazing besides the blondy with curly hair but thats a separate issue. But be warned dont go in there and talk bad about the place they will call cops and trespass anyone who does. read more

My husband and I ate lunch at The blue Moon today. Where do I start.. The waitress was really nice and attentive. That was the good!!! The bad was it took forever to get our food.. My husbands sat on the counter for awhile before my was ready and his was cold when he got it I ordered crispy bacon on my burger it was limp and looked like it was cooked yesterday. Before we got our food I witnessed the cook going outside for a smoke break and when he came back he started cooking without washing his hands and then the waitress handed him his tips he grabbed the money and put it in his pocket again he did not wash his hands.. While we were there one table was missing an egg on their other and another one sent their bacon back cause it was burnt. We won't be going back! read more

Worst bloody Mary ever! You know when you need a good bloody mary and everything else will be ok. Well, that ain't here. Ordered a bloody mary and got watered down tomato juice with garnish. Didn't finish it even after I doctored it up because the watered down well vodka in this tiny 8 oz cup was undetectable. Should have left right then. Hash browns were not good. Asked for cheese on top and got cold shreds decorating my paper thin potato crisps. Service was good, but the food came out staggered, with my kid getting his food last. My kid ate his pancake, which he doesn't usually do. Eggs were on point. So, good eggs and pancakes...which I can do at home. read more

Not the case today I experience a angry woman named brandy she was rude & very unprofessional...I brought in 6 people for lunch... We didn't have a lot of time so I sent over two people to make the orders in advance. 40 minutes later nothing but angry people the waitress told kitchen staff we were rude then a kitchen person said it to us!! I took a party of 5 for a 2 o'clock lunch (they said they could 't seat 5 together earlier in the day) to celebrate 2 birthdays and an anniversary. We won't go again. We saw only 4 adults and 1 child when we arrived, and they had been served; the saloon did not appear to be very busy. It took 45 minutes after ordering to be served. ALL food was tepid, at best. One coleslaw was forgotten and had to be requested. We did like the coleslaw but the portions were half the size expected. Clam strips were too dark (oil was too hot). Fish was 'okay' and good texture but cool. Oysters were 'okay'. Prawns were late. Scallops were under-done. French Dip: meat was an afterthought and roll was small. Cheeseburger was small and tepid. -- Waitress was good, fast, and friendly (and upset with the cook!) but paid the price for SLOW cook and poor food which also cost Blue Moon AT LEAST 5 future repeat customers plus recommendations! $76.10 for 5 mediocre/poor meals, including $2.25 for iced tea. I tip well, but none for this! read more
