Used to live in Coos Bay when 7 Devils was still getting started. Recently had a chance to drop back in for a meal. The food is just as excellent as it has always been, and the beer has only improved over time. The service was excellent, and our server Becky was friendly, fast, and knowledgeable. The tuna melt continues to be reason enough to stop in for a visit, and Annie has elevated her craft to new heights. The other night I found myself at 7 Devils. As usual I was expecting good food and conversation, which I thankfully received. What I didn't expect was the absolute master class of a server we were provided with. When I say the name Kai, the world almost seems to slow. Im telling you, I might not be able to be served by another being in the rest of my existence on this rock. Kai never let our glasses empty, never let our table dirty itself, never left without cracking a classy joke, and he always made sure our needs were met. I cannot even say enough about this guy. If it was socially acceptable I would promise the hand of my first born daughter. To 7 Devils I say this: my deepest respects to your establishment, for cultivating such a fine and legendary specimen as Kai The Server, the world will forever remember his name. read more

We specialize in hand crafted ales made with hops and barley grown in the Pacific Northwest. You can try our beers at our onsite tap room. Our thoughtful, locally sourced food menu also celebrates local and seasonal products. You'll find a selection of plates that changes with the seasons and has an emphasis on sustainability. Come enjoy our outdoor fire pit in the evenings, and make sure to check out our events page to see if we have live music! Seasonal beers are released often, as well as seasonal cocktails. We also have a wonderful selection of whiskeys and scotches from our "barley bar" as well as a full bar menu. Wines are also available, with emphasis on Oregon vineyards.

History

Established in 2013.

Carmen and Annie had been brewing on their one barrel system since 2010. In 2013 they made their dream of opening a 7 barrel brewery/public house a reality. Since 2013, they have expanded the seating area at the pub, and installed a 15 barrel brew house in the brewery, and increased production and distribution significantly. Thanks to a groundswell of community support, 7 Devils has become a sustainable business in the community.

Meet the Business Owner: Annie P.

Annie Pollard is the co-brewer and co-owner of the 7 Devils Brewing Co. She received her Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Oregon in biology and later received a Master of Science degree from UO for her research on marine bird nesting ecology. Her career in ecology has included rehabilitation of endangered songbirds in Hawaii, science education for grade school students in Oregon and Alaska, research on Antarctic penguins, and research on Oregon's near-shore marine reserves. Her background has lead to a strong commitment to the conservation and restoration of crucial ecosystems both locally and abroad. Annie is an active organizer for the local Surfrider chapter. She is also an artist, working with a diverse array of media including ceramics, oil paint, and textiles and instructs a community ceramics class at SWOCC.She works with her husband and co-brewer/owner, Carmen Matthews.

Sometimes the best discoveries are the ones you don't plan for. That's exactly what happened when we found ourselves at 7 Devils Brewing after our original lunch spot was closed. It turned out to be a fantastic surprise! Upon entering, we were greeted by the warmest and friendliest staff. We were seated in the room on the right-hand side of the restaurant (facing the front doors), which had a cozy atmosphere. The talented folk guitarist playing in the background really tied the place together, creating a low-key vibe that made our experience even more enjoyable. Our server was attentive and efficient, contributing to the overall great service. The food was nothing short of amazing. I ordered the scallops, and they were cooked to perfection - simply phenomenal. The homemade bread on the side was also a delicious treat. 7 Devils Brewing truly excels in both food and atmosphere, making it a must-visit for anyone passing through the area. I'd recommend it to the locals as well, but it seems they've already discovered this hidden gem. To top off the experience, we enjoyed their locally brewed beer, which paired wonderfully with our meal. My daughter and I went in yesterday (Sept 26th) for lunch at about 12:30, it was not busy (only 4 tables with customers and 3 men who had already finished their lunch sitting at the bar). We were directed to sit at one of the tables in the bar area (although there were empty tables in the dining room area), we were provided menus and a glass of water. We waited and waited for the waitress to come take our order (we could hear her back in the kitchen talking and laughing with someone). When she finally came out of the kitchen, she went directly behind the bar and started chatting with one of the 3 men that were sitting there (finishing their beers). We watched her and waited a few more minutes to see if she would come take our order, but she didn't, she just kept chatting with this man (although there was another person behind the bar who was the bartender)...so we got up and left (and went elsewhere for lunch)....which is too bad for her because we would have spent a considerable amount of money there (2 lunches, 2+ beers, and T-shirts), in addition, my daughter and I both work in the restaurant industry as servers, so we are VERY generous tippers! ‍ read more

For all about being and supporting "local" Not a single worker I talked to is even from this town. How do preach so much about being local and only one of your workers is even from this town, from what I gathered from the gal I spoke with. Service was decent, not hard to give decent service when it's slow. (Drink order, food delivery, check" Food was overpriced and small portions. None of the brewers are even local from what I gathered as well. For as much as I read from how "local" this place is, not having a single local or very very few "locals". I think it's just a selling point, doesn't look good when nobody can answer simple questions about the menu and local ingredients. We were on our way to the coast needing a break, this place was excellent!! Becca, our server, was wonderful as well! We really enjoyed this place, the beers were excellent, the food was great, and the ambience and artwork throughout the brewery was awesome!! Everything was very thoughtfully done, we really enjoyed it!! Wish we were closer and could make this our fave hangout! The artwork was all different types, from wrought iron custom lighting, great woodwork around the bar, to great artwork in the walls- all from local artists!! Loved everything about it!! Don't waste your time or money at either establishment. Food wasn't great what so ever and super small portions. For as slow as it was, food took longer than expected seemed everybody just wanted to stand around and chit chat. Had to wait until my drink was completely empty until being asked for another. I've never seen so many snappy/snarky people working in one place. No wonder why this place is always looking for people to hire. I feel bad for anybody who gets treated the way we did. From my understanding of replies I got and local regulars the boss is a sexist. Makes sense why you only have females working. Trying to compensate for something? read more

Im not one who usually does reviews, but this place definitely needs a review. Probably one of the most disorganized brewery/restaurant we have been to on our entire trip up and down the coast. We stopped by on our way up north and weren't satisfied but figured we would give them another chance on our way back home. Beer was sub-par, food was mediocre, service was inadequate. Beer was good but there staff are idiots, at about 11:30 a couple ladies came in to use the bathroom, the bartender told them that they couldn't because they had accidents in the past??? What's up with that, what do they mean by that? I saw the ladies earlier they were drinking a sample flight. The staff should be more aware of their customer base! read more

We are dive bar people, but we are also really particular about the quality of our food, and Old Town never let us down. They offer the standard bar fare (amazing wings, burgers and fries), but also some interesting things like chicken schnitzel (so good) and Korean style short ribs.
