I am loathe to leave lower reviews unless absolutely necessary. This massage was a good massage. However, there were a few issues that really made this experience not great. Let me begin by saying my family loves massages and my parents go to these small massage parlors regularly and we typically will join them when we are in town. The massage was $70 for one hour. My time did not begin on time, which was ok, I'm not a stickler. Once we began all was fine at first, but shortly after she began she answered the phone while in the room and massaging me. Not great, but it was a quick conversation and I was not that bothered. A little later, someone enters and she leaves to help them. I understand the hustle, I realize they only have a few employees, but it doesn't seem right to continually greet others while a paying customer is already on the table. She leaves a minimum of four times(!), but I believe it was actually five times. Each time she leaves around 3-5 minutes. I can hear her greeting people, scheduling them, or accepting payment. I was willing to look past the first interruption but am growing increasingly aggravated. The last time she leaves, I hear her accepting payment, not sure if it's cash or card but she comes back in and touches my feet before moving straight to massaging my face which just - I'm not a germaphobe but I just...this bothers me. She ends about three minutes after the time it should have ended if we started on time. I'm sorry but between all the interruptions I feel like I was shorted nearly 15-20 minutes! I'm really not the type to complain like this, but I've been to many many massage parlors here and in LA and have never had this experience of the massage being continually interrupted. Not relaxing. :( As I'm getting ready to leave she is demanding a tip. She snaps at me and puts her hand out. I was debating how much to give her and this was the last straw. I give her a $5 and she says no you need to tip $10. I explained to her I would have but she left the room several times throughout the massage and that's really not fair to me. She demands more and when I politely explain again you can't just keep leaving the room throughout, she snaps - then don't come back here next time. You got it. read more

11/21/21 *First thoughts and observations * The Blue Moon...the song comes to mind. However,  this is Blue Moon Spa. This is a new massage place I haven't been to.  I saw the sign outside saying Annie's Massage, but the sign on the door says Blue Moon Spa.   The sign says "$50 Whole Body Massage for first timers." Okay cool. Yet inside there is a sign saying $50 for Foot Massage.  Quite the contrary I must say.    I was meaning to bring this up after the massage, but forgot at checkout.  Maybe it had something to do with what happened at checkout, but I will get to that. Blue Moon Spa has undergone a makeover since 9 months ago.  The photos I saw today show curtain areas. The floor was changed from carpet to vinyl flooring.    The curtain rooms were replaced with actual doors.   *The Massage* The massage room I was let to looked comfortable.  The massage table which is obviously the centerpiece  has the option of being heated.  My table wasn't heated during my massage.  The idea of a warm table would have been nice, but it wasn't nessasary.    My masseuse for today went by the name of Sophia Moon.  (I consider anyone who works here having the last name as Moon.  Because of the business name)  Anyhow, Sophia greeted me warmly just before getting on to the table.  I didn't care that she arrived early, because she would be seeing areas of my naked body during the massage anyways. Sophia,  hands were very hot and the oil/cream she used went on smoothly.    Sophia asked me what kind of pressure I wanted and I went with medium.  The preliminaries  of the massage was with a large towel on me, but soon the large towel was pretty much nonexistent.   I am not shy about my body so I did not care if the draping was removed. Sophia mixed up her techniques,  but eventually they became repetitive.   Still the massage was good by giving her a thumbs up sign.  I do this when I don't wish to talk during my massage. When the time came to flip over, a small cloth went over the genitals and the massage continued.   I asked Sophia to mix up her technique between medium and light massage and Sophia obliged. Sophia did a great job and it was upsetting when the massage came to an end.  Sophia thanked me and left the room.   *After The Massage* While getting dressed, my mind was thinking about updating my necklace.   This is why I forgot to check my receipt.   I gave Sophia a ten dollar time for the massage and she pouted. Clearly Sophia wanted a higher tip and her facial expression showed it; as well, as her body language.  Her tone changed just a bit, but she wasn't rude.   I now recall  the feet were not massaged in this whole body massage.  I just got off the phone with the manager in charge and she told me "if you get $50 dollar massage you don't get your card stamped. The card stamp is for those who pay $60 and if you do this 10 times, your 11th visit is free."   This does not change the fact that I was charged $60 with $2 Service fee.  It is my first time to this massage palor called Blue Moon Spa. Nevermind the name of the last store Annie's Massage is still labeled on the outdoor sign and Ritchie Center Sign. It's not the stamp I care about, but the principle  of showing one sign saying $50 and charging your new client(s) $60.  The words Bait and Switch come to mind and leaves a sour taste in my mouth. Think twice before coming here.  Especially when you tip someone and they demand more money. read more

I had a good experience here and will go back. I walked in without an appointment and immediately received a decent 60-minute massage. I was not expecting a spa experience, it's not a spa. The massage was good for my pain management. The lady focused on the areas I requested, so it was a custom massage. Wonderfully relaxed all over after a full body massage. First time guests get a $50 special for 60 minutes. This review is for my first time here. No paperwork required. Got started pretty much right away after calling in like 10 minues ahead for an appointment same day. The ambiance is not much to write home or write on Yelp about, with each person's area curtain-drawn. It's not a fancy closed-door session or candle-flickering aromatic room, but there is soft music in the background. During my session's playlist, that even included a lullabye and a rock song, so you might say it's quite an eclectic experience. Susan showed mastery with hands and feet, a unique blend of techniques with skills, stretches, and touch. The neck, shoulders, arms, legs, and feet all got ample attention, and even the gluteal muscles too, just for the record. I've been long overdue for a nice soft & strong hands for a massage therapy session. Working on the Internet more-or-less full-time, my neck and shoulder muscles get tense and tight more quickly than the average joe. where to start. a bit dinky and dark. the place seems to be chinese run so there might a language barrier with some of the massuesses (luckily for me I speak chinese). i pointed out the areas that needed were the most tense/sore and my person took care of them with attention to detail. I was impressed with their thoroughness and the responsiveness to my requests for more pressure/location adjustments (what felt good/effective) Whenever they used fragrant oils, after massaging effected area, they promptly cleaned it with a fresh warm towel. I can't begin to explain how wonderful it feels. the 60 minute session felt like 15 minutes. TLDR: Reasonable Price. Knowledgable Massuesses. Facilities meh (But who cares!) read more

I went for a massage at "Blue Moon Foot Spa" after finding a $48 deal for 60-mins on Groupon. I called beforehand to ensure they accept Groupon. I was told by the receptionist that they do. When I arrived for my appointment, the outside of the establishment looked very cheap and tacky with flashing neon lights. Almost looked like I was walking into a Chinese takeout restaurant. Part of the name was missing on the sign so it read "Foot Spa." When I got inside I was pleasantly surprised because it looked like a nice clean relaxing place. It was unusually dark in there. Typically, only the room that you receive the massage in should be dimly lit but the whole facility seemed a bit dark. I immediately was escorted into the cubicle with a curtain. I do not know which one Annie is. There was no paperwork involved to sign a waiver. I undressed, keeping only my panties on. There is crepe exam table paper covering the massage bed (same as at doctor's office). The breathe/face hole smelled used. I could smell perfume and other cosmetic products. It just smelled "human" like it has not been washed - ever. I asked for a tissue to cover my face because I did not want my face going into that hole plus it was so dark and I couldn't really see exactly what was in the hole. The masseuse started out with a towel over my body and massaged me through the towel. Then she removed the towel, rolled down underwear about 3/4 of the way, applied oil to my back and began to massage. The massage was very well performed. Each part of my back received great attention, clearing out all of the knots. She pressed very hard on my neck but I guess it was needed. The right amount of pressure was applied for a deep-tissue massage. At times I could feel her nails interfering by digging into skin - that was a bit annoying. It was a very thorough massage. After working on the back (arms and hands too), she massaged the gluteal muscles, hamstring area, calf muscles and feet. Once the back part of my body was complete, she used a warm damp towel to wipe off all the oil. I didn't see the towel because I was face down (who knows if it looked clean) but I can tell there was a tear in the towel because it kinda got caught up in my heel. I was then turned over onto my back. A towel was placed over my entire body. She separated my legs and began to massage my shins, knees and all the way up my thigh just outside of the groin area. She did that on both legs and massaged my feet again. Once the massage was over, I dressed and went out to the front desk. The Groupon was honored and I tipped $10. Exiting the establishment, I knew that I would never return. All the positive reviews seem bogus. Seriously hoping that I do not end up with a rash on my body/face in the morning. read more

If you're looking for a light, relaxing massage, then by all means this is a great place. The lights are dim, the oil is warm. If you're looking for a serious, therapeutic massage, like I was, this may not be the right place. I can't speak for all the therapists there. Mine looked like a young girl. I asked for deep pressure, but it was very light. except when she walked on my back like an Olympic gymnast, which felt good. read more
