Great dive bar that ticks all the boxes. Cheap drinks, Keno, good bar food, and even an outside patio and bar. They have daily drink specials and Saturday and Sunday it's $2.50 well drinks. I haven't seen prices like that in years. Our bartender, Carrie, immediately welcomed us in and asked our names. She then introduced herself and brought us a drink. She just moved up here from Tennessee and was really cool. We got an order of the 10 piece wings and they gave us 12 big wings. This bar used to be the go-to hangout spot, but now it has taken a turn for the worse. The service has drastically declined and is now incredibly poor. I recently met some medical professionals at another bar who shared that they stopped coming here for the same reasons. In the past, I visited frequently, where the bartenders were friendly, made an effort to remember your name, and created a welcoming atmosphere--except for their manager, Bob, who often came across as borderline rude. Unfortunately, he appears to be a privileged individual who has never faced any consequences for his behavior and shows no signs of change. He must have ownership ties or be very close to the owners. They have since replaced an entire roster of cool bartenders with arrogant ones who fail to understand that just because someone isn't a current regular doesn't mean they weren't one before and that quality service attracts both loyal and new customers. They do have a fantastic breakfast and late-night kitchen hours, but it doesn't matter if the bartenders aren't offering good service to patrons. As mentioned, several former regulars who are medical professionals, have noticed these issues and have taken their business elsewhere like me. Observing the owner's responses to reviews only reinforces the idea that they are another arrogant owner who believes that "the wheels will keep turning," that everyone is replaceable, and that they lack genuine care. I wouldn't be surprised if there were issues like money laundering, given how empty the place often is since the good bartenders left. In reality, when multiple people mention the same concerns about your business or Bob's attitude, it's not the patrons, it's the business. Please do better. I was very disappointed this last Saturday. I walked in around 730pm and sat down for dinner. I brought in a friend which if I go there I often do because I have always really liked the food. Waitress came over and asked for drink orders and I was on the fence on whether or not I was going to get something to drink because of a medical condition where I am not supposed to drink and eat at the same time. My friend was just gonna get a water because he wasn't very thirsty. We were told until we actually paid for a drink we couldn't get food and there was a one drink minimum to get food. If I had brought another friend with the same restrictions as I have we literally wouldn't be able to be served food. My friend ordered a drink of which we split because I was going to sacrifice being able to eat a full meal just to get us out of a restaurant that I often spoke very highly of. I hope this "manager" that made this rule knows that not everyone can eat and drink at the same time for medical reasons. We were willing to drop 50-60 bucks there and often do when we go there but over a bottle of water compared to a glass of water you lost a customer who will also tell everyone that she can. This place is there when you need somewhere to go to post working third shift, always friendly in the morning and willing to make whatever food you're craving. It's a bar, so I don't expect a delicacy. However, I made the mistake of going there at night and while they're still friendly, my food had the longest hair I've ever seen in it. It's like this place is willing you to never return... Service was comically slow, couldn't place an order for the life of us but then tried to make it easier on them by asking for a bucket of beer because the table next to us had one; we were told we couldn't order one as it's not their policy to serve beer in buckets. Got overcharged for our tab and when we brought it to a managers attention in a civil fashion he became instantly combative, and said among other things that we were ignorant and couldn't possibly know how many drinks we had because we were alcoholics. Terrible experience! We come here every Sunday. Bob the supervisor and Gio the bartender are beyond racist. This was the most disturbing experience I've had at this establishment. We were refused service because I asked can I order my food before my drink. Gio off jump responded with an attitude. We stopped in solely for the fact that someone gave us a Groupon to try it out. Finally getting some time to drive out here, we almost passed the place as it's nestled within industrial-style buildings and only the bright illuminating sign stuck out to us. Truly a dive bar, the dark and musty feel to it made us feel relaxed, despite being fairly "overdressed" for the joint in my jeans and blouse from being at work. The staff are all extremely friendly and greeted us immediately. We took a look at the menu and immediately knew that this would be our "cheat" meal for at least the next 1-2 months. The place is known for their burgers and they take no shame in trying to out-do their own menu items one after another. Me not having a burger in way too long, I decided to go with the classic hamburger with just one 1/3 pound patty (although it called for two 1/3 pound patties). My fiancé decided to go all out and go for the half pound burger with bacon, barbecue sauce, and onion rings, probably sprinkled with a few vegetables in there too (or maybe not?). Each burger came with a basket full of French fries. While we waited, we sipped on our beers which from the tap were perfect and hit the spot. The joint wasn't busy at all so our food didn't take too long. It came to the table and our eyes opened up even wider and we laughed a little at the sight of my fiancé's burger. It almost toppled over with toppings and fried deliciousness. We both bit into our sandwiches and for a moment, all was quiet in the world. My burger was perfectly cooked medium, as requested, and the bun soaked up the massive amount of ketchup I placed on the burger. It was juicy, hot, and it was a slow song of perfection when matched with the salty crispiness of the fries that came with it. Next thing you know, while I'm only one bite down, my fiancé is almost halfway done with his burger. You can see the juice just dripping from his burger and he has the biggest smile on his face. Needless to say, the burgers were awesome. Service is friendly and sure, it's a dive-bar and maybe not the best place for a first date or vegetarians/vegans, but it clearly satisfied our burger craving. I had high hope for this place based on their website and menu. I was looking for a real burger WIN. What I got couldn't have been farther from the truth. 4 of us made the 15 minute trek up for lunch. The first thing I can say is the place is sandwiched between industrial buildings and set off the road with minimal signage. Very hard to find. After some u-turns we finally arrived. The first thing I noticed was no windows. Hmmmm....The second thing I noticed as we entered was the smell. Stale beer, cigarette smoke, and urine. Yuck. We sat ourselves, and after a few minutes the one girl working came over to take our drink orders (water & pop of course). She then shuffled off and returned a few minutes later to drop off the drinks. The she basically disappeared for 5 minutes. She had gone outside on the patio to smoke. There were only about 4 others in the place at the time, and they were all there to nurse drinks, but we wanted to order our food. She came back in and then took some keno slips, refreshed the other patrons drinks, and finally came back and took our orders. 10~12 minutes invested at this point. So now we're talking and waiting on our premium burgers (I ordered one with bacon and grilled cheese sandwiches as the buns!), and we waited, and waited... It became sort of a joke, "they're still slaughtering the cows", or "maybe they went to McD's to pick our food up", and so on. Then it became frustrating. Now there are about 10 people in the place, all milling about and having their afternoon refreshments, except us. Just nursing our pop's and waters...sigh. Finally a guy comes in with a paper bag and I joked "well it's about time our food got here", at which point he actually got set to start cooking our hamburgers. He was the owner/chef returned from an errand. Our time invested at this point...40 Minutes!!!!!! Unbelievable! We immediately cancelled our orders and left to go back to work. What a disappointment. (we did stop in at a famous slider place at Farmington & 5 mile on the way back!) A couple of things to note. 1. The website is deceptive. It's not nearly that nice and the "atmosphere" was nothing close to what we were greeted with. 2. I have my doubts about the quality of the burgers in a place that has no real kitchen to speak of and the cooking is taking place behind the bar on a VERY small flat top grill and two deep fryers. (Millers this was not!) 3. The smell. Again, Yuck! It's probably not necessary for me to say, but even if they made the worlds best bad ass burger, I would never go back to the Moose. read more

I reviewed this place when it was a sleazy, dirty bikini bar called Pony Express. In addition to the half-nekkid women, I liked the greasy, cheap food. Now the place has been cleaned up and "rebranded" as the Blue Moose Tavern. This new incarnation seems straight out of an episode of "Bar Rescue" with Jon Taffer. I guess for some people this is a good thing, but not for me. The bikinis are gone and the menu is now pro-quality with lovely photos of the food. I liked it better before. read more

We gave this place a try after purchasing a Groupon... after ordering, our waitress came back to the table three times, each time to tell us that they were out of something that we had ordered. (No ingredients to make the burger that I ordered, and out of both beers that we ordered). To top it off, we were told at the end of the meal that they no longer participate with Groupon, and they would NOT HONOR THE GROUPON THAT WE HAD ALREADY PURCHASED. Went here on Friday night for Karaoke and to celebrate my little sister's 22nd Birthday. Before I grew up and decided to adult by getting married and move across the country with my husband I was here every weekend when it was the Pony. The ambiance is still the same, and I still love it. Karaoke selection was good, but the books were disorganized and it was hard to find songs you wanted....and got even hard as the drinks continue to flow. They didn't have all of my staple songs in like to sing, but it was a good variety. I don't know if it's because I'm older now, or because we were drinking "premium" beer, but the prices seem to have increased quite a bit. $5 for a bottle is high, and the tiny little tap glasses are laughable at $5. They had $3 Fireball and Jack Fire shots, that's a good price. However I had to get my sister a birthday shot, which in my circle is a Blowjob. I've never seen one rang up by what's in them. It coat nearly $9 for ONE SHOT! Rediculosness! I didn't want to make a scene at my sisters birthday, so I let it go. I would expect that at a high end bar, but not here! I've paid $20 for one drink in L.A. or Vegas, but NOT here. Then, the last thing that was annoying is that our party of SEVEN, was all on one tab. Ordered the burger medium rare... it was medium well. The fries were a small portion in a basket - skip those not worth it. No napkins and after four bites of the burger I went up to the bar to grab some cocktail napkins myself because the server was busy. The one server working was literally running all over the place even though most of the tables & booths were empty. The bar was full. I assume she was taking care of the regulars.
