I was pleasantly greeted at the entrance and immediately seated. This is a cozy/comfortable atmosphere. My waitress was very pleasant and welcomed me with a warm smile literally within 30 seconds of being seated!! So far, so good! My baby Caesar salad arrived literally within about 3 minutes of when she took my order!! The fish n chips were the best fish n chips I've EVER HAD!!! Lily , my waitress is a rockstar! Moved from their original location to the Laurel Park Mall, I decided to book a meal for the Meetup group and everyone was glad I did. While the menu isn't as large as other places, the different types of choices are included like fish, chicken, beef, salads, soups. The prices are very reasonable for the potions. Everyone loved their choices. I had the French Onion soup and it became my top one over my old tops of Webber's and One Eye Betty's. Others had salmon, chicken Caesar salad, and turkey wrap. All said it was some of the best they have had. The dinning room had plenty of space with a raised bar level and lots of big screen TVs. Windows looked out to the mall or the parking lot. Service was friendly and their when you needed them. Lots of parking. I will be back along with the others. It has been added to our "must repeat list" for our Meetup meals. read more

There is more to being a bartender than slinging drinks and serving food. You have to have a personality. You have to engage your customers. Server number 200 did not do that for me this evening. I went to Archie's on a recommendation from my local host. My Cajun chicken salad was decent, nothing to brag about, nothing to complain about. The bartender took my drink and food order, but someone else delivered my food, and kindly asked if I needed anything else. I said no. The bartender passed by me no less than a dozen times, never stopping once to check in. She busied herself with socializing with the locals at the tables, but couldn't offer a simple check in to see if I liked my food or needed anything else. Before that, my tip was going to be 30%, which is standard. By the time I left, it dropped down to just under 20%. She was not even deserving of that, but I am a decent guy. As I walked out, I expected a parting greeting from the bartender who was at another table. Nothing. As I passed by the host, I expected another greeting. Nothing. There is absolutely nothing about this restaurant, the food, or the staff that would encourage me to return or recommend it to anyone else. Nothing. read more

went here with my grandkids for dinner one nite and was quite pleased with all aspects of our dining experience except for one area. The Smoke House burger and Mushroom Swiss burgers were quite large (two hander 1/2 lb burger) , well made and quite tasty. The accompanying fries were equally tasty with a nice crunchy texture. The two younger grandkids ordered off the kids menu where both got the grilled cheese and fries. They ended eating everything on their plate, which is a 50 50 proposition on most outings so they were equally pleased and grandpa was as well! Lastly I ordered a House Margarita on the rocks that was well made and quite tasty in its own right albeit a tad light on the tequila per my calibrated palate (: The one downside and reason for me not giving 5 stars is the service. Though friendly, it was very slow with no follow up during the meal. I had a strong desire to get a second Margarita but just couldn't get the order in. We actually had a hard time even getting our bill and when you are sitting at a table with some figety kids you really dont want to be sitting around waiting on your bill. Not sure if this is an ongoing issue with this business as I saw no evidence of it in the excellent reviews this business is getting. Probably our bad luck to get a server who was just not up to par. Service aside, we really enjoyed the food and enjoyed watching the live sports that were on the many TV's strategically placed around the bar/restaurant and definately would eat here again the next time we are in this area. read more

My wife and I were looking for dinner the night before Christmas. We were both craving a big salad and Archie's menu seemed to have some good options. We live not far, so we decided to give them a go. When we arrived we were greeted right away and offered a table by the front window. Our waitress was quick to bring drinks and take Our orders. My wife ordered a Cajun chicken and avocado salad. I ordered the Cobb salad with extra chicken breast. These salads did not disappoint and they did not skimp on the chicken. The restaurant was clean and inviting. All of the staff were friendly and prompt. The prices were very fair and portions were spot on. We will definitely be back soon. read more

Really nice bartender lady. Came in there for the World Cup semi final and she was really sweet and patient with me. I got ribs and fries at $22. Got a good sized portion for the price and the sauce was nice, idk if they made the sauce themselves or it's a high quality brand but Iit was good! The ribs themselves were also excellent, not too many tendons or fat that gets in the way of eating. Ambience was excellent as well, there was a nice darker tone but it liveliness and kindness of the people in there made me want to experience it by myself again. Excellent place, and I will be coming back to try the chicken parm and recommending it too others! read more

The staff is very friendly and upbeat. The place is clean and kept up. I like they have trivia nights on Friday's. We have ordered the tuna melt, saganaki, fish and chips and the Rueben. Their tuna melt is so big and so fresh and flavorful. The Saganaki Opa is done table side and it is so gooey and great with their Greek bread that they give you in the bread basket. The fish and chips is so crispy and flaky and the pieces are big. The tartar sauce is ok especially with when everything else has so much flavor but not so much the tartar sauce. The turban a huge and they crust the bread and the layers of meat and Sauerkraut are caramelized inside. I highly recommend. Will need to go through the menu and order more things to try out. read more

I travel to the Detroit area a few times a year and usually stay in Livonia. I started going to Archie's when it was Grand Tavern. When Archie's took over, I was very pleased to see that they retained a lot of the former staff. I usually sit at the bar and Darya has been an awesome bartender everytime. After my 2nd visit (months apart) she remembered what my preferred drink was which was impressive! The food is good and employees are all very nice! I would recommend Archie's to anyone who is in the area! Don't let the fact that it's attached to a mall fool you!! Love Archie's! read more

Oral surgery, ugh. Dentist limited me to warm-ish soups and yogurt for a week. On day three I had a craving for onion soup and Archie's was the closest. It is damn good onion soup. Not the same Archie's we were all used to years ago. This one is a bit more upscale than the one on Plymouth Road. Definitely an upgrade from the former restaurant that occupied that space. Service was great, However, food was a bit hit and miss. Reuben sandwich was average, steak bites were a bit tough but fish and chips was excellent. This place surprised me. Basic setting when you walk in. Replacing the grand tavern. Archies seem to be a good option. Service is nice and very attentive. I went with the Mahi tacos. It came with a soup which I went with French onion. They hooked this soup up better than no other. It was very good. The Mahi tacos were a first for me and they were okay. But they were lacking something. So who I went with got a burger that came with some type of garlic sauce. She didn't want it. So I added that to my Mahi tacos and that was a GAME changers. These tacos became very good after that. I would strongly urge y'all to try it. Maybe add it to the menu. The chicken tenders were fresh & hot. Not hand battered not home made but okay. Lemon meringue pie to top of the dinner was tasty and exactly what I expected. Overall so far a good place to eat. This place is a hit. I forgot to mention. They do have sagnaki (opa! cheese). Archie's Tavern is the former Grand Tavern connected to Laurel Park Mall. If you are from Livonia, you probably remember Archie's on Plymouth Road, which was a Livonia institution for family dining for many years and a favorite of senior citizens. I believe Archie's Tavern is the same ownership as the former Archie's. However, Archie's Tavern is not your grandma's Archie's. It is a typical sports bar complete with TVs, a full bar, and a few beers on tap. This was my first visit since the change in ownership and I came with a group of friends. Food Quality: 4/5 To be fair, I only ordered a simple burger and fries. The fries were hot and crispy and the burger was pretty average but about what you might expect. 1/2lb of beef and fresh produce on a toasted bun. I'm kinda a burger snob and I would suspect this was a frozen patty. Not bad, but not memorable either. My friends ordered chicken wings which were tossed in sauce. They looked pretty good. Overall, I think most people could find something they would enjoy on the menu. The fish and chips were a top seller at the former Archie's and I saw them on this menu as well. That would be what I would get next time. Service: 4/5 Our server worked at the former Archie's for over 20 years. She was polite and efficient, but still learning the new menu. I'm confident service will be consistently good here. Ambiance: 5/5 No complaints here. The interior decor is much nicer than the former Archie's. It looks like any other modern sports bar. Cleanliness: 5/5 Our table was clean and the restroom was clean during the dinner rush. Value: 2/5 The menu prices seemed a little higher than average for comparable quality food. $13.50 for a burger with fries + $7.50 for an IPA on tap. After tax and tip, you're looking at ~$27. Again, not outrageous, but most menu items seemed kinda high for what they are. Overall: I hadn't been in Laurel Park Mall in years, and after walking around, it felt like a dying mall with many vacancies and mall walkers, but few shoppers or reasons to visit. I'm curious why Archie's decided to make this move. I'm rooting for Archie's Tavern and hope they have many successful years in this location. There is a lot of competition in the area and other places like HopCat, Granite City, and BJ's that offer a larger beer selection and similar offerings. I don't want to say it, but my gut tells me they will struggle (especially with rising minimum wage and food costs) unless they can find a way to differentiate themselves and find a way to offer value. read more

Surprisingly good place for being in a mall. Appetizers were excellent. We especially enjoyed the spinach artichoke dip. You can get sandwiches or full meals. We went as a family of 4. Couldn't finish the pork chops or nachos. Great desserts that you "could" eat by yourself - but we shared. Has tables as well as bar seating. Many TVs. My family lives in Livonia, so when I visit- Archie's is the place that we used to visit in their old location on Plymouth Rd. Imagine my delight when I find out it has moved to this new location in the Laurel Park Mall replacing what used to be the Grand Tavern as it's much closer to my mom's house. While it's nice in the inside- sort of a sports bar feel, most of my orders these days are for take out, and they surprised me with how efficient they are with this aspect of their business. The order has been right every time I have ordered, nothing is forgotten and even the sauces and changeouts are correct. They make it easy as the food is prepared and bagged so that you can pick it up at the hostess stand, or on slower nights at the bar. I like to come early and have a drink while I wait but they are usually SO fast that I never get to finish my drink! The menu is huge so everyone in the family can get what they want- and just like the old Archies- soup or salad is included in many meals which makes this very economical. My mom loves their turkey dinner while I'm a sucker for their patty melt but no matter what I order- the food is hot, tasty and ready to go. Love that their new location is close and more upscale than their their last location, but the food is just as good as I remember it! read more

Tried the roast turkey. It seemed like it was just sliced, pressed lunch meat turkey. The texture was odd and very salty. The dressing had very little flavor and the gravy tasted like it was out of a jar. I'm very picky when it comes to turkey, but if you are not you may love it. Knowing what the old Archie's was like and how Grand Tavern was like, I was not expecting a 5 star sports bar. First of all, the Wings were MUCH better than when it was Grand Tavern. I was amazed. Keeping Darya behind the bar was another excellent decision. She reminded me that she's the epitome of a professional behind the bar. Archie's should be extremely fortunate to have her. The place also was cleaned and well maintained. It is a welcoming atmosphere. I highly recommend giving this place a try. read more
