Their pedicures are very relaxing and they've recently added hot stone massage and wax treatment to their pedicure options. Regular nail place didn't have any openings and I needed to get in so I decided to try blue ocean. I was seated right away for a pedicure but sat for about 10 minutes before someone came over. I did like that they line the bowl with plastic but otherwise I won't be going back. I paid extra for the "deluxe" which was a joke. Staff seemed rushed, annoyed and honestly a bit rude. I went in here on a Sunday. They were super busy, and I did not have an appt. After about 15-20 minutes of waiting, they put me in a spa chair for a "Deluxe" pedicure, which was to be followed by a shellac manicure. Two girls that arrived before me were sat at the same time as myself, and they began working in them right away. After maybe 10 minutes, they filled up my tub. They rushed the pedicure. I asked them to please make sure they did the callus remover, as my feet are dry from wearing flip-flops all summer. The girl smiled and nodded. 5-minutes later I had someone rubbing my feet and soaking my hands for a manicure. Personally, I prefer them to do them separately, so I can enjoy each. Anyways, they never did a scrub on my feet, use the paraffin wax, and they did not cut my cuticles on my feet or hands. I was done within 15-minutes, and put into a manicure seat to finish my nails. My toes were still wet and got smeared from having my shoes put on. I asked if I should come back when they slow down, and the girl now doing my hands told me I would be done in 5 minutes. She quick did my shellac, and jumped up to attend the next customer. So, I guess I was all done? I went to the register to pay, $60 the 3rd employee had told me. I gave her my card, and she ran it, handed me my receipt and walked away. I noticed while getting my nails painted (or whatever you would call what they did), they had a sign saying tip in cash. Obviously, to avoid taxes. So, I walked to the different people who worked on me and handed them each $8. The girls who were sat next to me were just finishing with their pedicures, by the time I was all done and leaving. By Monday, my nails were chipping, I had also noticed that the paint was all over my skin, and my cuticles looked like crap. My feet were on about the same level. On Wednesday, after dropping my son off at school, I decided to drop in, so they could correct the mistakes and finish what I went in there for. They began talking back-and-forth, which was not in English. They then told me to show them proof of what I paid for as well as who had done the work?! I pulled up my receipt and let them know I had no clue who had done the work? About 25 minutes of waiting, they dipped my fingers into some nail polish remover, then chipped it off. As she was doing this, the owner, Amy, walked in and the girl who was fixing my fingers started talking to her. Amy came up to me and said you had wax and callus remover on your feet, I was sitting right next to you! I said no, you did the girls next to me, but I never received it. "Yes you did, how can you not remember?" She demanded. Again, I said "no, it wasn't me, you guys did the girls next to me." She then walked away and threw some toe separator thingy's. I asked the girl working on my nails to cut my cuticles and file my nails, as they were jagged and my cuticles were dry. Without soaking them, she cut away at the cuticles then filed them. (If this had been properly done or done at all, she shouldn't have needed to file or cut them.) She soon finished, no lotion-no hand massage, and jumped up and said "all done" and walked away. I sat there waiting for them to direct me to a pedicure chair. My son was asking when we got to do our feet? And I told him in a minute, and the girl once again said "all done!" So I got up and said, "are we finished?" And Amy said "ALL DONE!" Needless to say, my son was not happy! I cannot believe the treatment I received, and I have them an easy opportunity to make it right, and instead, they made it 1,000 times worse. Do not waste your money or time on this overpriced under serviced, unprofessional, and quite rude establishment! I should have waited until Monday and went to Rebecca's! I used to go to Blue Ocean, until the last time I went before my daughters wedding for a pedi and fill. The young girl took maybe 7 minutes total on my feet, barely rubbing my heels with the pumice stone and then quickly rubbing some lotion on my legs. My feet were still scratchy, so as I sat with the owner as she did my nails I asked if next time I could request someone other than the young girl and told her why. She starts reprimanding the girl in their language, and they start arguing, all the while looking and pointing at me. The girl now has tears in her eyes and everyone in the salon now knows that it was because of me. I kept trying to tell the owner that it was ok, but she kept saying loudly "No, she needs to know her place". I was humiliated and will never go back Very unprofessionally handled. read more

They were busy but sat us anyway, and we waited over 15 minutes just for service. We went in for 2 shellac mais and seems like the laundry girl was doing ours. They filed and scraped our schellac off instead of softening it first. I went in with long beautiful nails and she chopped my nails to the finger tips without asking, and broke a nail. I left with cracked skin on several fingers because she trimmed the skin too far. My daughters shellac coverage was not consistent and she had to ask for a third layer, after they applied three to me. agree with a previous comment that my nails were short! crooked, and poorly shaped. It was obvious before the shellac was applied but at that point it was too late and there was nothing left to chop. While they were friendly with a lot of customers we had two that didnt speak a word to us and didnt understand our requests. No need to return EVER. read more

Went today for a basic manicure. Thought everyone working there was friendly and the prices very reasonable. But, the manicure was horrible. My nails are crooked, way too short, poorly shaped and on two nails the polish is streaky. Gave them two stars for price and friendliness. This company is doing some shady business practices and most likely illegal. I have gone to this salon several times and they do a pretty good job overall. My issue the last couple times has been when it's time to pay and give them a tip. If I have cash I give it to them. If I don't I added it to my credit card. One time the employee got pissed off for not getting a cash tips and when I thanked her she just walked off. The second time which was yesterday. The employees told me I could not tip with my card at all and that I could use there ATM. It seems to me that they are avoiding paying taxes which is silly because if I gave them 10.00s and they have to pay 25% they still pocket 7.50 but by not allowing customers to choose how they give them get 0 dollars. Also it's pretty rude to expect a customer to use the ATM in your business that the business is getting extra income from and the customers have to pay a fee. Yesterday, was the last time I will be in that salon. Time to find a new place. Good luck with the IRS. read more

Went here for my first time! Called for an appointment first being that It's mother day's day weekend an prom - they squeezed me in with a pedi. Wish I could get my nails done but I can't have anything on my nails working at Starbucks. They know all their regular clients an I had great service like I was a regular too. Blue Ocean is my favorite pedicure spot! They're very nice, and always ready for me when I make my appointment in advance. Sometimes I call only an hour or two ahead of time, and it's no problem. I am still recovering from the infections and nail fungus that I developed after my first and last visit there. I had a pedicure and fill on my acrylic nails before my mother's memorial service. What I got was over filed feet to the point of bleeding. Then the infected nails became ingrown causing worse problems. I have now been on prescription meds for a year and a half and still have a way to go. During this time I cannot have nicely pedicured feet. My dad and I got mani-pedis here today. Really felt pampered! They worked quickly but expertly. We came in and they were really busy, they said there would be a half hour wait. I have been a client here since they first opened, and not once have I had a bad experience! I have gotten my eyebrows waxed here on a monthly basis as well as a pedicure whenever I have the time. Everyone is always nice and never make you feel like you're a bother (which would be crazy) but other places I have had that experience! They were NOT straight, started to come up after a few days...I will NOT go back to them. I do NOT recommend this place especially when there are so many more places to go get your nails done in the Monroe area. I had to get acryllics for work, and kindly asked the lady who was doing my nails to make them look as natural as possible. She kept making comments about how I bite my nails and kept suggesting that I get color, wouldn't go as short as I wanted, etc... She entirely rushed the process. Turns out three days later I had to go back in and ask them to redo the acryllics because they were already beginning to lift off my nails (it should be at least a week and a half before this occurs). I could tell right away that they were not happy that I even came in to request they redo them. The entire time the ladies were talking back and forth in a language I could not understand, and the lady who ended up redoing my acrylics was rude the ENTIRE time! She would rush between customers and there was one point where i ended up having to wait 10 minutes to get my top coat applied, because she left to another table to start on another customer. She kept arguing with me about having to redo them, telling me: "If your gonna complain about the job I do on your nails, go find a different place! I don't care if you don't come back again." Even after having them fix my nails, there was still nail polish on my fingers and streaks. Afterwards, a few customers commented to me about the customer service and were astonished that they would treat a customer like that. All in all, they have TERRIBLE customer service, and do a very rushed job. This business is not worth your money. I will do exactly what the lady told me, I definitely will not be going back. They lost a customer, and probably a few other customers who witnessed what had gone on. read more

I came to blue ocean on a very high recommendation, but apparently because I wasn't her (a regular), their service was crap. I came in at 5:30, they close at 7. I wanted a fill and a pedicure. There was one other client in the salon and I still waited for close to 30 minutes. The staff was nice enough, but they rushed through my entire visit. And I mean RUSHED. My nails looked like shit, lifted within one week and three broke before the week was up. My pedicure looked great, but it chipped and peeled on the SECOND DAY. I've never had that happen. Ever. Needless to say I will never return. I'd rather drive an hour to north bend where I know I will be satisfied. (The conversations much better there too) read more

I'm a fair-weather pedicure-getter, getting them done only in the summer when my feet are at their worst. The staff is super friendly, never even a hint of a look of disgust at my calloused, dirt-stained excuses for feet. The facility is always clean and inviting, the wait never long, if a wait is even required, and the polish seems to last longer than I think it should. I'm absolutely horrified at the service I received today as well as the condition of the waxing room. I went in at 12pm today and they were slammed. the daughter of the owner who is 11 led me to the waxing room. she told me to lay down on the waxing table but there wasn't any paper or towels down so I sat until someone came in. while sitting there I was staring at the back of their white door and yellow walls both were disgusting and needed to be wiped down. in the corner behind the door was hair and lint piles SICK. I walked out of the waxing room with out a wax. I then sat down in a chair for a pedicure, an boy who looked to be younger then 12 was responsible for cleaning out the tubs, he kept yelling across the room to cami the owner and his mother to ask which ones were clean, mine was not clean by the way, it was gross. I said would you mind washing mine? and he said he just had before I sat down. GROSS! then a guy who said he was 18 and in college sat down to do my pedicure. he did not cut my toe nails, nor did he ask to do so (weird but now I'm so thankful) he did not put any fizzers in for smell and disinfectant. I could go on and on. He really was nice, kept asking me if I was comfortable because I was supposed to be there to relax. a young girl came to paint my toe nails and got polish all over my toes and tried to walk away saying I was done. Not too happy with this place. Two times I had an appointment and it was no different than when I walked in without an appt. I came in for a fill each time. Someone started removing my polish, then got up and waited on another person. Then 10 min later she came back and started filing my nails, then left to wait on someone else. One of the times that I had an appointment, there was a person that came in and sat down to wait. The person working on me left me and took this person to a room in the back leaving me again. She came out 10 min later and worked on me again. People are walking in all the time and they don't turn them away. They just tell them to have a seat. The chairs were comfortable and the massage function was relaxing. Everything looked clean and there was not a strong odor in the spa. This was my go-to for a couple of years. The last 6 months have been terrible. They try to service too many people at once....stretching a mani/pedi to 2.5 hrs!!! Sadly this was the only place open in Monroe on a Sunday which should have made me realize they were going to be busy. I waited 20 minutes in a pedi chair, not knowing there was going to be a wait. Once the pedi got started it was quickly rushed due to being short staffed and busy, 5 employees- 12 customers. People were waiting a long time while I was there and were never told there was a wait, even a couple gals with appointments that came back got pushed back feather in getting service done. The girl doing my pedi went and helped another customer and than I had to wait to get nails done. Meanwhile the own is yelling at her workers saying who knows what but it got really uncomfortable really fast. When I was told to go to a nail station an older lady came over to get my gel nails off and to follow of taking those off she put new polish on. No cleaning my nails, no massage, didn't even tell me to wash my hand, the girl that was sister next to me when I was getting my pedi done she got the full treatment and she came in after me.
