    Shrimp and chicken kebab plate

Ordered the shrimp and chicken kebab plate yesterday. It was really warm yesterday and I'm not sure if that was a factor with the refrigeration of the food or not. A few hours after eating the plate, got a bad case of food poisoning. Vomiting all night. This is the last time I'll be coming to this establishment.

My bbq chicken mini bowl was pretty dry. It's inexpensive, good size portion, but unfortunately the chicken bbq could have been juicier. My wife's breakfast bowl was a bit better. The turkey sausage was pretty tasty and it came with hash browns and eggs. The spot is a grab and go and the customer service was decent.

Loco moco with mac salad $15 (oct 2025)

We first reviewed this place was 10 years ago (2015). Back then, they just one food truck, simple menu, grilled fish, steak or shrimp. Since then, this food truck has been expanded to a long standing shipping container equal to at least 3 food trucks with tables and benches. The menu is extensive from plate lunch of different combos of proteins (fish, shrimp, steak), loco moco, poke, tacos, breakfast and even pizza. They have QR code for the menu and taking credit card. If you can't find what to eat here... you will be starving forever... they have everything! For the price, I'm surprised to see what I put in my review back in 2015, $25 for a plate of grilled fish/shrimp or steak... I again ordered a combo of grilled ahi and beef kabobs for... $25! What?!! The portion is a bit smaller though but still pretty good. The fish and steak was grilled perfectly and pretty tasty, served with white rice, green salad and bread. We also order loco moco for $15 plate. My partner is on his "loco moco" diet who likes this loco moco (more than Goofy's or Basalt). The presentation is consistent with the dish name (loco or crazy), messy and sloppy with the gravy and ground beef patty over white rice with fried egg on top. The people here are nice and chill. They keep the area super clean.

This was on the door of the place.

Wanted breakfast but they didn't open until 8am. They have a very busy defensive menu and prices are expected . They have a QR code to order your food and seating outside for you to wait and enjoy your meal. I came back later in the day for a loco moco )they have several types) and it came out quickly. The guy was nice and offered me a bag since I took it to go. The food was plentiful and hearty. I'll definitely go back since they offer breakfast all day.

Most visitors know that Hawaiian food trucks are a must...well how about a shipping container? Blue Ocean operates out of a massive shipping container, displaying its HUGE seafood menu for all to easily see. I ordered the calamari and shrimp kebab, which came with a Hawaiian roll, salad, and white rice. For ~$15, the price can't be beat. The quality isn't 5-star worthy, but good for a satiating seafood meal. To me, my shrimp kebab tasted a bit like sticky caked up charcoal, so it wasn't the best tasting shrimp I've had on the island- but again, only $15 for a generous portion of seafood! The only other issue I had was the seating area...I had to clean my table and chairs off due to fresh bird poop (birds lurk around the area in hopes of munching off of you!).

First of all I was super excited to try this truck for a few days! I was craving shrimp fried rice! They have what's called tempura shrimp fried rice! 3 little shrimps and some fried rice that wasn't very flavorful. Disappointing...the sweet chilli chicken was ok...they could have added more sauce on the chicken. The lobster and garlic shrimp for $41.00 could have been better too. The service was fast, but the food just was ok. $70 for three items.

Blue Ocean Seafood & Steak is a larger food stand/Food truck located across from the well know food truck area off this stretch of Waikiki. They are hard to miss as they have big signs everywhere, and of course, that big blue block really stands out color wise while walking down the street. The food they offer here is a massive menu selection, and they offer just about any variety of what you would find from a Hawaiian BBQ place. They offer course offer a wide variety of seafood options as well, and even have things such as lobster on the menu, so not just your typical Hawaiian BBQ spot. They are also open earlier in the day and late into the night, so easily accessible. When I visited them earlier in the day I got the fried calamari and loco moco combo. The service was okay, no complaints. The food I got was hit and miss. The part that was a total miss was the rice and the mac salad, as I feel both of these were just old from the previous early day or further back and needed to get rid of it. The rice was hard, but not in a dried rice way, because it's been reheated poorly. The mac salad was honestly the worst mac salad I ever had, which is strange considering I'm getting it from the source. But not only did it not taste right, the sauce itself was grainy on every bite I could stomach until I gave up. However, the other parts of it, behind the actual loco moco and the fried calamari was fine. Egg was fine that was with the loco moco, and gravy no issue. Fried calamari was a bit on the tougher side but still tender so I didn't mind. At least the main actors for this dish were on point. Overall, Blue Ocean is a convenient option with a vast variety of choices to pick from when it comes to food options. They also offer some of the cheapest options in Waikiki for food, so not a bad place to be either. However, I'm not sure if the rice and mac salad for me this day was just a one off, and hope it was because those really took me out of the redeeming qualities for this place. Perhaps will try them in the future when I'm back and give them a try later in the day.

I've visited this place four times during my trip. The food is amazing, and the outdoor seating area is particularly nice, especially at night. This restaurant is just a few blocks north of Waikiki Beach. One day, we ordered food and walked to the beach to watch the sunset. Don't hesitate to stop here at all definitely worth it.

Ordered a garlic shrimp with mahi . Hmmm it's so so . Shrimp not fresh mushy and mahi steak too hard like frozen too long .

Late night eats! 3 1/2 stars. After day drinking, this sure beats McDonald's. The salmon was a little overdone and the coconut shrimp was fried a little too long, but again, late night eats! Lol. I was hungry and it hit the spot. Fast and friendly service. Outdoor bench seating. Prices are average. $20 for my plate. Will I go again? Sure, for late night eats.

We were walking by here and the aroma from this food truck filled the air. The food smelled wonderful and we had to give it a try. It's right by Maguro Spot where I picked up my lunch. The hubby decided to try their sweet chili chicken $17. The prices are a bit higher here in Waikiki. They gave a lot of chicken. I can't do spicy and thank goodness it wasn't spicy at all. It was on the sweeter side. It was yummy after just getting out of the fryer and being drenched in their sauce. It came with white rice, toss salad and a butter roll. I would eat here again, but looking for parking around this place is nuts.

During my boyfriend's transaction, he didn't realize it was cashless, and the employee, Mitchel T, repeatedly pressured him to put his cash in the tip jar - mentioning things like a ski trip and family to convince him to hand the cash over as tip. It quickly became uncomfortable. When picking up our first order (2 platters, 2 drinks), the same employee asked if I could carry everything. I said I'd try, but instead of giving me the drinks, he handed me only the 2 platters and angrily sighed before setting the drinks back down. As I went back for the drinks, he instead handed me the remaining two platters. I turn to set those down and while doing so I guess he thought now I would be able to handle carrying 2 platters and 2 drinks. Because I didn't grab the drinks this second go around, the worker called me a "F***ING IDIOT." When I said, "that's rude," he doubled down - telling another customer I was an idiot because he was "busy" (there was only one person in line). My boyfriend calmly tried to address it, but the employee refused, completely ignored him, and continued glaring at us as we left. Other customers also expressed how rudely treated they were at this location. We spent nearly $100 to be treated with hostility. Completely unacceptable.

It came with three sides so I got cole slaw, potato salad, and Mac and cheese. Cole slaw and Mac and cheese were solid; Potato salad was just alright. They also gave one warm bun too. The reason I gave 3 stars was because service was extremely slow. It seemed like they were short staff and had one person at the cash register AND getting the food. He would take a few orders, and then grab the food. When I arrived, he was grabbing food for multiple folks so then I stood there waiting like 15 just to place my order. Then when he restarted and took my order, he took like 5 more orders before grabbing the food so then I waited even longer for another 15 min. That's 30 min of waiting! Also he wasn't serving food in the order that orders were received so it felt actually felt even longer. There needs to be a better system! Surprisingly he did a employee discount on my order. Not sure if it's because it was close to closing time. Btw they charge extra if you order to-go because of the supplies for packaging. However, after having to abandon our original dinner plans, we were no less intrigued after randomly stumbling across this place. While they may not have been our first choice for dinner, coming here was far more appealing than eating fast food or at the nearby IHOP! Although seeing so many folks at this mini food truck park may have been what caught our attention, it was the boxes of fried chicken on nearly every table that swayed us to try Waikiki Chicken in Paradise in particular. After skimming the menu, it wasn't hard to see why they were such a popular choice - everything on it sounded great. Granted, that's not overly difficult when there are only eight items to choose from, but tough to argue with the likes of fried chicken loco moco, fried chicken curry rice, fried chicken sandwiches, chicken & croffle, and fish & chips! Since we saw how big the portion were and didn't want anything too heavy (read: sadly, no loco moco or Japanese curry), we opted to split a FRIED CHICKEN RICE PLATE ($16.95) which came with a Fried Chicken Cutlet over White Rice with Mac Salad & Green Salad. Funny enough, despite already having a sense of how much food they give, I was still surprised by the generous portion size. As for how it all tasted, this was great. The breading on the chicken reminded me of Popeye's (though, without the spice), the batter was crispy, and the chicken itself was rather moist. As for the sides, the mac salad was pretty good, but the salad was a little heavy on dressing. If there was one thing I could change about our order, I think I'd want to see how it would taste with a sauce or glaze. At the very least, I'd definitely go with a different dipping sauce, like their Pineapple Ginger, Lilikoi Mayo, or Guava BBQ, as the Honey Mustard we went with tasted a bit generic. Of course, we could've solved both problems if we had gone with the Fried Chicken Loco Moco or Fried Chicken Curry Rice instead! I guess I'll just have to wait until the next time I'm in Waikiki!
