AVOID AT ALL COSTS!! Disrespectful service & completely unacceptable behavior!! My boyfriend and I placed two separate orders for a total of 4 platters and 2 drinks. During my boyfriend's transaction, he didn't realize it was cashless, and the employee, Mitchel T, repeatedly pressured him to put his cash in the tip jar - mentioning things like a ski trip and family to convince him to hand the cash over as tip. It quickly became uncomfortable. When picking up our first order (2 platters, 2 drinks), the same employee asked if I could carry everything. I said I'd try, but instead of giving me the drinks, he handed me only the 2 platters and angrily sighed before setting the drinks back down. As I went back for the drinks, he instead handed me the remaining two platters. I turn to set those down and while doing so I guess he thought now I would be able to handle carrying 2 platters and 2 drinks. Because I didn't grab the drinks this second go around, the worker called me a "F***ING IDIOT." When I said, "that's rude," he doubled down - telling another customer I was an idiot because he was "busy" (there was only one person in line). My boyfriend calmly tried to address it, but the employee refused, completely ignored him, and continued glaring at us as we left. I stopped by here last night for dinner. My dad and I were looking for a place to eat on Yelp when I came across Waikiki Garlic Shack. We headed down Kuhio Ave and found it amongst a nice little set of food stands. Since it's a stand, there isn't too much to say about it other than there was a single guy working on this evening. For dinner I decided to go with the spicy garlic shrimp. After ordering, the gentleman working the stand told me it would be about 8 minutes and almost exactly at that time my name was called. My order came with a salad, mac salad, and two scoops of rice. I first tried the sauce that the shrimp was in and thought it was really good with a nice bit of heat on the backend. The shrimp themselves were cooked nicely and had a slight sweetness to them. The salad was a nice addition to add something green to the plate and the mac salad was decent. The rice was cooked well and I ended up pouring a lot of the extra garlic sauce over it since I enjoyed it so much. Before long my plate was empty and I was pretty full. I was looking for a quick hot lunch (3 days of eating poke will do that to ya) and this popped up on Yelp so I wandered over. It's in an area with a few other food stalls and I didn't know what to expect but I'm so glad I tried it. I ordered the angry shrimp plate and the 6pc coconut shrimp a la carte ($13.95). The coconut shrimp is outta this world. Coated with breading with flakes of coconut, the crispy, crunchy exterior is so satisfying to bite into and unveils the juicy shrimp underneath. I loved the sauces it came with too -- it paired so well with the shrimp. The angry shrimp plate comes with two scoops of furikake rice and a small side salad. Whatever is in the salad dressing is seriously addictive and the angry shrimp is wonderful when paired with the rice. The sauce made me want two more scoops of white rice. I preferred my beloved coconut shrimp more but all in all these were excellent dishes. I might need to get this again and that's high praise considering the abundance of good food in Oahu. read more

Walking around Waikiki and came across this small area with lunch wagon. I remember seeing some reviews on this particular Angry Shrimp. Went to try this place while doing a staycation in Waikiki. I was craving garlic shrimp and this was the closest to our hotel. When we got there, it wasn't busy at all. I ordered the spicy garlic shrimp while my Husband ordered the regular. I was so excited to try it because the reviews on yelp. The man taking orders on Monday 6 April 2026 at around 2:00pm, Mitchel T, was extremely unprofessional and rude. He called a woman "a f***ing idiot" to her face all because she put her platters on the table before grabbing the drinks from him. He then repeated it to her, then to the man she was with, then to the other customers in line. Extremely unprofessional. The food was good 'tho I think they got our order wrong and made/gave us the "spicy" shrimp when we said "no spice / not spicy" because our 7 year old didn't like spicy hot seasoning. We had the Butterfish to add 'tho and other foods, so there was something for everyone to eat. It's general shared seating among other food vendors in the outdoor area.
