We went to the food hall in the international market place to pick up some dinner, this BBQ spot looks good so we gave it a try, and it did not disappoint! Huge plate of food with mouthwatering smoked meat, the slaws and salads are also very yummy, plus the great music, definitely worth a try.
This was my first time. I like that they offer 3 sides with your meat. I had the baked beans, coleslaw and potato salad. All three were very tasty. Not your standard sides. I would just order the sides that is how good they were. I ordered the ribs. It came with 4 ribs. The sauce was really good and the ribs were meaty but not fall off the bone tender. I suggest sturdier utensils as my fork broke on the first rib. I also suggest offering extra sauce (for a fee) and provide a hand wipe for after dinner. I would also like to see a brisket Sammy. I certainly be back. The staff were friendly yet slow to acknowledge us waiting. It is located in the food court and finding a table can be a challenge in peak eating times.
Let this be a warning! Don't ever buy food here! This place is embarrassing! We got a brisket plate and I was so excited about it! Took our plate to go, went back to our hotel room, and was ready to eat. The meat was tough! Sooooo tough! I just chewed and chewed like it was gum. Omg disgusting! Then I tried another piece and dipped it in the sauce hoping that would help. Nope. The worst brisket I ever had! Go check the picture I took of it, I ate 2 pieces. Saved the rest for my dog. It was soooo bad. The sides were also just as bad as the tough meat! Mac and cheese was dry my kid ate it and he likes the microwave kraft cups better. The potato salad, yuck tasted weird. Coleslaw was basic like the ones you buy in Safeway. Omg I'm so disappointed!!! We ended up ordering food by the pool at the hotel we were staying at because we were so hungry and their mac and cheese was way better. Save your money and take this review serious. Just don't order from here. I truly hate to bash on businesses but man I'm truly disappointed. DONT GO HERE and NEVER EVER order the brisket.
the store is located inside the food hall! seating was easy to find due to the hall having a large dining area service was normal, but the food did not live up the the hype we had. we got the combo plate with brisket, ribs, & sausage and everything was super super dry and almost cold, the customer before us demanded a refund as our order was almost finished being prepared and that should've been a red flag for us. the only pro i guess can be the fact this is a large meal and good for sharing
So, the sausage is good. It was probably the best thing there. The ribs were tender and not dry, but NEED the sauce. They didn't give much sauce, so I will lower the score for that. The brisket was good, but also NEEDS sauce. The beans were bad. The roll wasn't really warm. The potato salad was fine. The mac n cheese wasn't to my taste. The vibe in the food court was good. There was live music, so that was fun! I can't say anything for the service because I needed to go find a seat and let my party handle the food orders. BUT, when I did ask for a to go plate, they gave me one. After you eat, you clean your plate and put it in the bin over the trash can. I would say the combo is too pricey for what you get. It would be best to order one choice in my opinion.
Conveniently located in the International Market Place, this place is great! It's surrounded by great food and bars in the food hall, and it was pretty easy to find a seat on a Saturday night. The food was amazing---I got the Kalbi short ribs, which were incredible. The kimchi might be some of the best I've had, and the mac and cheese + garlic rice were so good. Your food comes on a tray and you pick it up at the counter, but the service was great in terms of the portions they give you. It's a little expensive, but you get a lot of food.
Right after my friend and I checked in at the hotel, we headed to Kūhiō Ave Food Hall for dinner in Hawaii time. He was from the east coast. So, this would be his late after midnight snack. We looked at all of the food vendors, Choo Hoo BBQ was the only one close to both of our palates. First, it's all meats. Second, smokehouse in the middle of Waikiki sounds exotic. Third, the long line moved fast. The menu screens changed too fast. I had to take pictures and read them from my phone. I didn't see the paper menu until we got to the cash register. It was also hard to read. I wished they have a bigger print. The aroma from the smoked meat made us hungry. So, we ordered 2 plates. The Combo Plate was consisted of Brisket, 2 Ribs and Sausage with 3 sides. The other plate was half chicken with 3 other sides. Both plates came with a dinner roll. Amongst our sides, we both had 6 different varieties: Potato Salad, Baked Beans, Mac & Cheese, Chee-Hoo Garlic Rice, Kim-Chee-Hoo and Cole Slaw. Thumbs up to Mac & Cheese and Potato Salad. Thumbs down to Kim Chee because the texture was really weird. It tasted like made from frozen cabbage. The service was awesome. That was why I gave tips for this fast-food stand. I could tell they were short staffed. Both men worked so hard like they were juggling between front and back at the kitchen while managing the orders. Kudos to the skilled employees! We took our food back to the hotel. Not knowing I got a $1.50 surcharge for the sturdy paper bag. I only found that out from a photo I took during check out. I couldn't see things well because it was dark at that place. Yeah. I think I'll be back, after trying other food vendors at Kūhiō Ave Food Hall on my next visit to the island.
First, the gentleman who served me was great! I ordered the kalbi plate, which was quite lean, unlike most places where the meat is tough. The marinade was spot on!! YUM! 3 side dishes of potato salad, baked beans, and mac N cheese. It was a LOT of food. The beans were the best of the 3.
You get alot of food for each order. I got the jalapeno cheddar sausage and it came with 3 large sausages and 3 different sides. Sausage was good but ive had better elsewhere. The mac n cheese was delicious. Really good. The bbq beans and cole slaw were decent. My sister got the ribs and enjoyed it. The worker was super friendly. Would come back here again!
This place closes at 9 and we visited the Kuhio food hall at around 7:30 so sadly they were out of the garlic rice. We chose the potato salad, mac and cheese, and coleslaw instead for our sides. Potato salad and coleslaw were creamy and salty but the mac and cheese was pretty plain. The combo plate comes with pieces of beef brisket, 2 pork ribs, 3 Kalbi ribs, and 1 long sausage. The beef brisket was super tender and soft but the other meats had more flavor, especially the salty sausage. For a food hall/court eatery, this place is delicious!

They're located in Kuhio's food hall. This place was popping at 8PM on a Saturday night. I ordered the Chee Hoo combo which came with beef brisket, baby back ribs, smoked sausage, and short ribs. It was ~$30 and easily shareable with 2-3 people. Everything tasted great and I loved the smokey flavor and bbq sauce. Beef brisket and short rib were kinda tough and chewy. It came with three sides so I got cole slaw, potato salad, and Mac and cheese. Cole slaw and Mac and cheese were solid; Potato salad was just alright. They also gave one warm bun too. The reason I gave 3 stars was because service was extremely slow. It seemed like they were short staff and had one person at the cash register AND getting the food. He would take a few orders, and then grab the food. When I arrived, he was grabbing food for multiple folks so then I stood there waiting like 15 just to place my order. Then when he restarted and took my order, he took like 5 more orders before grabbing the food so then I waited even longer for another 15 min. That's 30 min of waiting! Also he wasn't serving food in the order that orders were received so it felt actually felt even longer. There needs to be a better system! Surprisingly he did a employee discount on my order. Not sure if it's because it was close to closing time. Btw they charge extra if you order to-go because of the supplies for packaging. I hate to give this one 3 stars...the service was great, the location is neat, collocated in a food hall with live sports playing. However, the meat was not very tender, nor very flavorful. The beans were not very smooth, and also lacked flavor. The mac and cheese, roll, and presentation of the plate were the best attributes of the food. Maybe it was not the type of BBQ that I expected, almost a cross between standard, Hawaiian, and Korean, but not totally the flavor profile of any one? I wanted to love this spot! read more

The food is normally good. We got a large potato salad and coleslaw. The quantity was good for a large and they tasted good. I paid $27 for a brisket, it was 50% meat and 50% fat. read more

It's located in the food hall, so it can be a little hard to find seating, but the ambiance is always nice with everyone and the music. Service was wonderful, he was super sweet and energetic, seemed like he enjoyed his job. Food was good overall. Ribs fell off the bone (as they should). The Mac n cheese and potato salad were our favorites with the beans as a nice "munch" in between the heavier items. Overall, would stop by again if we were craving more southern style food; great meal and portion size for the price! read more

The food looked good but was blah. The meats was cold, where the fatty pieces solidified and turned white. The potato salad was bland and the kalbi was tough and chewy. Everything was bland or just ok. The BBQ saw was just a dab...not enough to add moisture to any bite. read more
If you're looking for some legit BBQ...this is your new spot to check out if you're in Waikiki! Located inside the Kuhio Avenue Hall inside of International Marketplace. We ordered the Combo Plate ($26) which came with all the meats including ribs, sausage, brisket, short rib. PLUS 3 sides to choose. We got the Mac n cheese (not cheesy enough), potato salad, and baked beans. Bread was meh. I think my favorite meats were the sausage, short rib, and brisket. And favorite side is the beans. Enough to definitely feed 2 people! Maybe more, if you don't eat as much as we do XD Can't wait to come back here! It was tasty and mouthwatering despite some sides not up to my standards. But the meat is the star of the show anyway! read more

We were trying to eat at a different restaurant, but it was too busy so we ended up eating at this food hall. All of my friends were eating pork bbq, which I am unable to eat, so I decided to get beef bbq. EXPERIENCE I was not expecting much, but walking by the sales person was super kind. He checked in with me before closing my take out order to see that I was satisfied with the portion. Straight forward and thoughtful service. FOOD (5/5) Beef Brisket with Rice, Mac & Cheese, and Beans - This beef was sososo good! It falls apart and is easily cut with a plastic knife. It really is simple and focuses on the natural beef flavor. Highly recommend! The sides were also good, nothing stand out, but yummy as expected. OVERVIEW This was definitely a surprise find during my trip. I was very pleasantly surprised. The portion was quite large. Good flavor, very soft, and yummy sides. If you just need something quick and filling, definitely try it out! read more
The boyfriend decided to eat here and got the Kalbi Shortrib Plate ($18), which includes 3 sides as well. First of all, the service was super friendly and the portions were great especially for the price. For the sides, we got the beans, mac & cheese, and cole slaw. Everything was so flavorful and I really liked that they added more sauce to the mac & cheese to keep it not dry. The way they marinated the kalbi was so delicious too. If you're feeling BBQ while in Hawaii, this spot should definitely be on your list. read more
Ordered one combo plate, $26. Comes with three sides of your choice. Choose from kimchi, coleslaw, beans, mac n cheese, potato salad. Our plate had the following: Coleslaw, mac n' cheese, potato salad; baby back ribs, kalbi short ribs, beef brisket, spicy sausage. The coleslaw might have been sitting out long, or not cold enough, since the cabbage was a little wet. But it's not bad for a food court. Mac n' cheese was onolicious! Some of the best I've had, and I'm not actually a big fan of mac n' cheese in the first place either. Potato salad also good. The baby back ribs were full of flavor, kalbi short ribs were much more subtle, the beef brisket was unfortunately a bit dry, though some fat to make up for some of that. Spicy sausage excellent. Staff is friendly, we talked story for a while about our personal lives, wasn't too busy at 5:30pm. The portions are huge for the price. This one plate is definitely enough for two people. I ended up asking for take-out containers afterwards. Located at Kuhio Food Hall in the centre of Waikiki. One of the more affordable places in the area. Baby back Ribs were yummy. Came with 3 sides - picked mac and cheese, potatoe salad and beans. Really good flavor and the person that took the order was helpful. Showed us the size of the ribs before we ordered so we had an idea of how big/small they were. This place is inside the food court area so there is plenty of tables to pick from! It is inside the KuHio Food court. So it is spacious enough. read more

Meat was dry. All of it. As you see in the photo. That the most dry out, burnt kalbi I ever had. I mean why the fuck would you even try to serve that to customers. And the girl at the counter kinda give you a little attitude if you don't tilp. Saw her reaction when the gentleman before me just sign the credit card ipad. Dont waste your money, time and tastebuds here you will be highly disappointed. 2 star cause some of the sides were edible. read more

Came across this place tucked in the back of the Kuhio Food Hall. Ordered the Combo Platter which includes baby back ribs, kalbi ribs, sausage, and brisket and three sides. Everything was very good and cooked to perfection. I did ask for a side of their delicious BBQ sauce to dip my brisket in. There was so much food that I barely finished it. Definitely a great find. read more

Ordered the combo plate $28 and wife got the baby back rib plate for $18. The baby back ribs are dryer than the sand on Waikiki beach. The tri tip had no taste. Kalbi short ribs were decent and the hot links are aight. read more
