Well lit, clean and friendly. An incredible assortment seems to be always available compared to other shop. Other shop brings out different donuts throughout the day. I came upon them purely by accident, a privately owned business were using them as part of their menu. I thought they were made at this particular business and the owner told me that they bought them from the Blue pantry. Went there fairly early (about 4:45am) and we were skeptical when we walked in because it was empty. However, the donuts looked so inviting in the glass showcases. The man behind the counter greeted us seni-warmly, maybe he didn't have his morning cup of coffee just yet. In any case, we picked out seven donuts and it came out to about $7.50. The croissant was very good. Flaky on the outside and soft and moist on the inside, and because it was early they were still warm! Also the plain cake donut was very delicious as well. Soon after we finished ordering, several customers showed up and the small store got fairly busy! Ok, I feel obligated to write this update since my return visits have been less favorable. The last three times we've been there all the donuts with chocolate or maple glaze tasted like nail polish. It was so weird. I took a bite and immediately spit it out, it was THAT strong, I didn't even need to chew it. It was such a horrific difference in taste from what you're expecting when you bite into a fresh chocolate glazed donut. My daughter asked what was wrong. I told her I bit my lip really bad (I wanted another unbiased opinion) and I offered the donut over. She took a bite and grimaced, panned over at me with a really sad and disgusted look on her face. I said, "what? What's wrong?" She said, "this tastes horrible!" "Oh, you taste it too? I was wondering..." long in short we both agreed it tasted like nail polish. Of course we had to see just how many of our donuts had the same misfortune and sadly all the chocolate and all the maples suffered the same fate. The sugar and regular glazed were still ok. But we lost half of our donut run that day. The next two times I tried again only buying one of each and still, it tasted like someone was doing their nails as they prepared the batter. The last visit was a man that I hadn't seen before, he had almost nothing left at 11:30 which seemed early to me, like he made less so he could leave early when they sold out. Tried out this small little donut shop this morning at 5:30 with my daughter. It was quiet and actually had a steady flow of guests coming in for donuts and coffee. The donuts all looked awesome. They have all your basic favorites. Lots of different donuts with sprinkles for my little girl and a coconut donut for myself. Ham and cheese croissants for those of you looking for something savory. What I really liked was how friendly the man behind the counter was. Unlike my previous favorite (Baker Ben's in Roseville) this gentleman actually looks like he enjoys his job. He was all smiles and very polite. It seemed to me like he knew every guest that came in. This just shows me that he has a very strong number of guests that are loyal regulars. I'm guessing because he is friendly and consistent. It's a cute and quiet place to enjoy your breakfast and read the newspaper. Or hit run in and grab a fresh and delicious donut. Hands down the best donuts I've ever had. My favorite is the cinnamon crumble cake donut. It's extremely most and flavorful. Their donuts are also very fluffy with just the right amount of glaze.
