I've been very happy with the quality of care and grooming prowess at Blue Pooch. The facilities may be a bit small for medium and large dogs but they all get along so well and they're cared for in such a wonderfully kind way. Clovis always comes home happy and tired:) When I've had him groomed, the groomer always gives me a full report and tips for caring for doodle hair. I love this place and the hands on care they provide. read more

I've been grooming my dog for the last 7 years and know the difficulty finding the perfect groomer. For the last 3 years, I've been going here and I love Blue Pooch. They make my pup Miko look great every time he comes. I have a good feeling about the groomers because Miko is generally afraid of dogs and is freaked out when we go to the vet or other groomers, but the last time he saw his groomer he jumped out of my arms to greet her. You hear a lot of scary stories about dogs dying at groomers but I never am afraid of that happening here. Timing: I usually drop off Miko and about three (3)hours later Miko is done with his grooming. That part really makes me feel more secure when I drop him off. When I used to take him to Petsmart or Petco, he'd be there for sometimes five (5) hours, which I think is excessive. The groomers and staff here are friendly and accommodating when I call in for an appointment. Price: Each of Miko's groomings cost about $65. My pup weighs about 10 pounds so compared to other quotes from LA groomers, I feel it's a fair price. I also enjoy the fact they don't try to add things onto my grooming. Petsmart or Petco always felt like Jiffy Lube to me. They would always add in another $5 for an "emergency" nail grind or combing without my knowledge until I came there to pay. The grooming: Prior to any grooming, they usually talk to me for a minute to get an idea of what kind of haircut I want for him, which I really appreciate. I usually show them a photo of his old haircut or how I'dl like him to be cut this time and he always comes back with a giant grin as if he knows he's looking fly. Every time he comes back he has a cute bandana or bow tie (PS, I love the bandanas they give him- they fit so well!). Suffice it to say, I'm a fan. read more

This is the best groomer around! My dog and I have been going to Blue Pooch for about 6 months now with my long haired Maltese and have never been disappointed. Every time I come in everyone is so friendly and the always remember my dog. It's such a hassle for me to bathe my long haired white dog every few weeks so I bring her to blue pooch and when I come to pick her up she is bright white, beautifully brushed and best of all... I was pretty disappointed with my experience here. My dog has been there before (taken by my wife) but this was my first time there. The price was okay to start off with ($90 for wash & groom of a 40lb Goldendoodle) but when I picked up, I was surprised with an additional $15 added to the bill for "having to brush his hair for more than 15 minutes." That didn't seem reasonable to me. And to add insult to injury, there was a spot on his head that was cut/trimmed flat, as opposed to round like the rest of his body. Also hair towards the bottom of his leg that seemed to be missed and 1 inch longer than the rest. I will not be going back. read more

I wanted to like this place but unfortunately the cut the groomer gave my Bernedoodle was pretty uneven. Her body was uneven, the top of her head, and near her tush area there was still a matte that I will have to take care of myself. I don't feel comfortable bringing my dog back since she's already very skiddish going to the groomer. When I initially called and asked for an estimate for a 70 pound dog I was quoted $95-$115 and was charged $150 and I added $20 for tip. For $90 the uneven haircut would be more understandable but for $150 I feel like the cut should be perfect. On the good side they do have texts that let you know when your pup is ready to be picked up which is nice. read more

I have been going to blue Pooch for the past 6 years.. They are the only people I can truly trust my dogs with.. They do an amazing job. Arisa is fantastic and very talented. She knows how to trim my Pomeranian dogs very well. You can see my both of my dogs on their Instagram. One is a baby still so just gets minimum trimming. This place is great for small dogs, but if you have a doodle - keep it away from this place! They cut my bernedoodle's face soo terribly, she looks like an old man with droopy beard. I gave very specific instructions and showed them a photo of exactly what I wanted and I got my worst nightmare. I love taking my shihtzu here, but I will never bring my doodle back here EVER! If I wanted the results I got, I could have went to Petco and paid half the price. read more

The price is not so awesome, some say you get what you pay for but I wish it was about 10 or 15 dollars cheaper. Elsewhere it is. I've only been here once and now I am a huge fan of this place! When we got there, Misa took Butters and asked us questions regarding how we would like for him to look, any allergies, and how he is when he's groomed. The fact that she asked me these questions made me feel like she was an actual professional in grooming dogs, cared about our dog, and wanted to make our experience the best. I told her that my boyfriend isn't a fan of the boxy Japanese style whereas I'm a fan so it would be great if she could do something in the middle. When we picked Butters up, I couldn't stop gushing over him. Even my boyfriend was very happy with how he looked which is surprising since only 1 of us is happy whenever we take Butters' to get his haircut. I would highly recommend Misa for your dog's grooming needs. Our bill came out to $65 for the bath and cut. They waived the $10 additional brushing fee because Butters had a lot of knots in his fur and it was our first time there. The only thing that sucks is that you have to use metered parking, but if you go further down pico towards bunds, they have non metered parking. read more

We had a great experience taking our rescue dog for grooming at Blue Pooch. The staff was super friendly and helpful and even gave Lily a little Halloween themed bandanna to wear home. The facility is darling, very clean, and inviting. We paid $40 for a bath and oatmeal scrub and my dog smelled delicious afterwards! We will definitely be back! Miku has been our groomer for over 5 years, initially for our Maltese and now for our rescue, Leo. She has consistently done an amazing job and as long as she is around, we will never look elsewhere. Leo is not good with cages so he is always allowed to roam around and play with the daycare dogs prior to grooming. He comes back smelling wonderful and usually, with a handsome bow :D Scheduling is a breeze and we've never had a problem getting in on a weekend. I recently moved to the Westside and needed to find a good groomer for my beloved Cairn Terrier mix, Ishie. After having read countless of YELP! reviews, which gave me anxiety, I decided to try Blue Pooch a shot...and thank goodness I did! Cairn care requires hand-stripping their wiry coat in addition to giving them a haircut. The groomer did a wonderful job with both, and Ishie came back to me looking even more handsome than he usually does! Blue Pooch is a very clean and welcoming establishment, with a warm and accommodating staff. You can tell that everyone who works there not only loves what they do, but they also truly care about the well-being of your fur babies. I feel their rates are fair and reasonable although many reviewers seem to think their prices are a little too steep. I have tried several groomers in Orange County, and grooming rates are more or less priced around $60. I have also tried Petco twice who charged me $50. This price didn't include hand-stripping, but apparently included some fleas and scratches as parting gifts both times. I challenge anyone reading this to find a place that does not sacrifice quality and attentive care for price. Honestly, I don't mind paying this much if I can guarantee that my dog comes back to me happy, healthy and handsome! Five stars! I couldn't be happier with their service. So so to maybe close to below average grooming job with the highest prices around. They nickel and dime you and while there are a couple of nice staff, the rest are uninterested and very hard to communicate grooming intention. Perhaps they just have too many clients and really don't need to win new ones. read more

Please don't go this place. They cut TWO of my dog's nipples. I suppose the groomer inadvertently sliced off one nipple, but to cut two, that just shows how careless they are. What also worries me is that I think the groomer knew they did this but deliberarely didn't bother to tell me when I picked her up. Since then I've spent hundreds on hospital visits and medication and my dog is now traumatized when I try to drop her off for grooming at other places. Please do yourself a favor and do not go this place. read more

Blue Pooch is the best place to groom your furry ones hands down! My little Haru has been seeing Arisa for almost 2 years, and no one gets her bichon cut the way I like it like this place does. I love shaping her face as round as possible and have ventured to a number of groomers in west LA before finding this place and no one ever got it as right as Arisa. After going to Arisa, my dog has received a ton of compliments about her haircut! I have debated writing this review. I was so furious earlier but having worked in the Pet Industry for 10+ years I have seen the worse of how big retail groomers can treat your pets and I was happy to pay more for a basic B&B for my dog. I had been to Blue Pooch from a recommendation from co-worker a few times. I never had any issues and was happy with the services received. I liked that it was a small salon and the team seemed very nice. Today, I brought my Senior dog into the salon for an 8:30 am appointment. I was on time and there was no line. The salon did not look overly crowded and I signed in and left. About 5.5 hours later I was worried that I had not received a call that she was done so I called the salon - no answer. I figured they may be on lunch and I would call back. I called back another hour later and still NO ANSWER so I decided to drive up there assuming they were still busy and that there is no way she couldn't not be ready. When I arrived the team members behind the desk started to get frantic - honestly at first I thought they gave away my dog! They came back after a few minutes and said that she got missed and the bath wasn't complete and to give 20 minutes and they would have her done. Its never okay to rush any service to stress a pet out - especially a senior one! Now, here is what I want to convey with this review - I know pets. I have worked them in boarding facilities, groomers, and vet clinics. The fact that I had an appointment and signed in on the sign in sheet tells me they do not care about the animals well being or health. I mentioned earlier it was a small salon. Is no one walking and checking on Pets? No one checking to see if they had water? Clawing at their cage? Bleeding? Naturally pet's anxiety increases in salons which is why professional salons can charge what they do. This is negligence. My pet is a Senior Pet (which they obviously did not track), did not have access to water, and to be honest I'm not sure where she was placed if she wasn't regularly walked by. I'm absolutely heartbroken that I have to write this review but I have been there when pets come for emergency vet services. Do better Blue Pooch - prioritize safety over money and treat your clients like they would be treated by their families. For everyone, don't go here. I'm going to purchase products online and do it myself. This was a horrible experience. read more

I absolutely loved my experience with Blue Pooch! So glad I saw them driving by then checked their amazing Yelp reviews. I have found my groomer! Dylan groomed my two rambunctious 11 month-old German Shepard/Rottweilers today and he was amazing! They are sisters and do most everything together so they have separation anxiety when they can't see each other. At Blue Pooch, they allowed them to sit next to each other while they were being groomed and this helped a lot. They also are a bit timid with new people and can be high energy and a handful if I am not there. The whole staff at Blue Pooch was amazing with them! I left with no worries that they were in great hands and with people who really knew dogs. When I came back of course my girls were jumping on me (working on this in training!) but their coats felt AMAZING and they were SO soft and shiny. Their fur had been shedding like crazy and I can totally tell he got most of the undercoat out! Dylan did an incredible job. I have brought them elsewhere before and for the same price and the quality was definitely not as good!! Another thing I liked was Dylan loved my girls and they loved him. Like I said, they can be shy and wary of strangers but they immediately loved him and this was a great sign! I am terribly disappointed and will not return. For the price, I was expecting quality in all aspects of their work, They did not take great care in paying attention to what I wanted. This is the WORST place. They can NOT be Trusted with your loved one. They charged my friend extra because they were going to take extra care of her, they like to up-charge everything, and within the 5 minutes my friend was paying and walked out the door the dog had been shaved so close that she had multiple CUTS!!! Mind you they charged her extra to be extra careful but they didn't. It took the dog months to grow out her fur and in the Winter! Do Not go here! They don't care about your paw bff. read more

Wow! The reviews here are 100% correct. I found Blue Pooch on Yelp based on the 5 star rating and took a chance with my girl Bailey, and the results were phenomenal. I like to keep my dog's hair long because short just doesn't look good on hair. I was given a consultation where the groomer actually came out from behind the counter and asked what I liked and preferences that I preferred. I felt secure when I left and when I returned to pick up Bailey her hair was the right length and she looked absolutely beautiful (see pics). The results are consistent because there was a couple before me that dropped off their dog when I got there, and when I return they had just picked up their dog. I could tell by their reaction to their dog's cut that I would be pleased. I'm so glad that I stumbled on to Blue Pooch and I will definitely be back. read more

I usually board Chico in standard boarding and really love getting a few photos of him daily -- he's always smiling from ear to ear in them and surrounded by cute doggie friends. Chico had a cherry eye flare up when he was boarded earlier this year, and they handled the situation beautifully -- they gave me options, took him to the emergency vet for a checkup, and isolated him in VIP boarding until we were sure he was okay! It was such a relief to know he was in good hands and I will forever be grateful to the staff for going the extra mile to ensure his safety and comfort throughout. I trust them completely and so appreciate that they actually know and love him, so it feels like he's at summer camp with his favorite people every time! I love Puppy Island (and so does my dog!)!

Summary: irresponsible groomer chopped a sizable chunk off my 10 month old dog's ear and cut the side of his ear resulting in stitches and antibiotics. He now wears a cone and is on heavy mediation for the next 10 days. Groomer left the ER and couldn't care less while Aya, shop manager, only stayed for a couple of hours. -- I took my dog to Blue Pooch because of the cute fluffy look they advertise and the great things iv'e heard online. When I arrived a male groomer greeted me and started to ask what kind of haircut I wanted on my small 10 month old 5 pound Yorkie. I told him to keep the long hair but to give a trim on the eye area and a sanitary cut. He was kept pushing for shorter hair and he claimed his hair was too long on his face, feet, and ears and that it would suit him better and keep him cleaner. I've learned not to fight with these people as they're taking care of my most precious cargo and I don't want any "accidents" to happen because of animosity created between groomer and client; so I gave in and said ok to shorter cut. Two hours pass and I receive a call from Aya Thomas saying there has been an accident and Zuko's (my dog) ear has been cut! I start to freak out and ask for more details, she proceeds to tell me he is bleeding a lot and they've put some powder to stop the bleeding but to no effect. She guides me to an animal hospital where they took Zuko and when I grab him from the groomers lap, he is shaking and crying in pain with a piece of the top of his ear flapping around, only held by a minuscule piece of flesh. I am instantly furious and scared as this seems like such a dramatic and intense cut for it to be "just an accident", the groomer says sorry once but I don't even look at him as I'm comforting my dog. After about 1 hour to my dismay the groomer leaves without saying a single word to me. Aya stays behind and we begin a waiting game of 10+ hours until Zuko is seen and treated by the ER doctor. During that time the owner of the shop, Yuri comes up to our car and without hesitation, spews the most putrid, empty, and cold "apology" I have ever heard. She says sorry ONCE but focuses the very one sided conversation on stating how this was NOT the groomers fault and not her business fault for what happened. I find that disgusting and totally apathetic to make such claims when I am visibly shaken and upset by the whole incident. After her 2 min speech she leaves the hospital, as she only came to bring Aya a coat from what I could tell. Aya stayed behind to pay the hospital bill, which is the least I would expect from them. When they bring Zuko out at around 1 A.M, I find myself alone with my partner as Aya had already left without even saying goodbye. The doctor tells me they couldn't salvage the piece of Zukos ear and so had to cut it off and give him stitches. He had to be out under anesthesia for this procedure and was in extreme pain from what I could tell. The most shocking revelation is that Zuko not only had a piece of his ear cut off, but also had another cut on the other side of his ear that required two stitches. How is this possible if it was an accident?!?!?! Wouldn't the groomer have noticed he hurt him with the first cut, deep enough to require stitches, and stop there and maybe ask for help?!?!?! While Aya payed for the expenses, I am appalled at the treatment my dog Zuko received there and at the unprofessional and inexperienced groomers they hire at Blue Pooch! I am trusting my dog to you, I don't expect an incredible haircut or special treatment whatsoever, what I do expect is for my dog to be treated with care by a responsible professional. He is now on antibiotics for the next 10 days, anti-inflammatories for the next 5 days, pain medication as needed, and a cone until he heals. Anyone who has a dog will understand how much love they bring and how hard it is to see them hurt, specially at the hand of someone who clearly doesn't care about them. I will NEVER be going back here and I hope they take action with the groomer and train their employees better. They REMOVED my review!! read more

We took our dog, Stanley, to Blue Pooch after reading all of the great reviews. Stanley had a couple of small mats on his back legs (he's part poodle) and they informed us that they would have to shave him all the way down to essentially bald, or brush them out for an additional fee. We opted for the brushing, thinking it would be insane to shave him down over a couple of knots! When we went to pick him up a few hours later, I was shocked by 1. The appearance of my dog (They did a REALLY bad job on his face - he was unrecognizable! Body was fine although they didn't do anything to his shaggy legs, so within days he was tangled again.) 2. The cost of the entire grooming ($115 for a 15lb dog?!) A few weeks later, I took Stan to the vet because he kept scratching at his ears. Turned out, he had an ear infection in both ears. The vet asked if I had ever gotten him professionally groomed, and I told her I had just gone a few weeks earlier. Apparently, groomers are supposed to cut the hair in their ears and clean them, which prevents ear infections. Blue Pooch hadn't done this. Considering the cost of the grooming was fairly high for what I was used to, I had imagined that they had covered all of their bases. Turns out, I was wrong. Won't be returning! read more

Blue Pooch was my dog's groomer before we adopted him and we decided to make sure we used her services so that our little guy would feel comfortable. Upon arrival my normally sleepy and quiet doggie greeted her with so much excitement. It was clear that they definitely had a bond and I knew instantly that he would be in good hands. We have a poodle mix and decided to give him a super short cut. He came out looking like a brand new dog. He looked positively handsome in his decorative collar! So, last week, I asked for it to be a tiny bit shorter -- one setting on the trimmer. Something got lost in translation, I guess, because they practically shaved him. Take a look at the pictures. But the real problem comes from their response. When I got him from the van, I asked what happened. They assured me that this was one setting shorter than we'd been getting. You can see that it wasn't. Later, I texted to follow up and ask what size I'd need to ask for next time...and they ghosted me. After a transaction totaling over $200. They have failed to respond to another text from me and one from my wife. We got a little worried so we sent an email. No dice. As a last-ditch effort (in this day and age), we made a call to each of their phones. Nothing. I guess you need to spend over $300 to get a reply nowadays? No thanks.

In about 10 minutes, a unfazed Rodney and his team did all his nails and cut back the problem dewclaw significantly, despite the Cujo-like antics of the (muzzled) dog. The price was super reasonable and the dog doesn't associate me with the unpleasant experience. Win-win. I love watching pros who know what they're doing, and this was a perfect example of that. SpawtlessLA is the complete opposite. I initially reached out to the owner, David, via a Yelp inquiry. He was great and told me to bring Barnaby by at 10 AM this past Sunday (3/22). When we arrived, there was a slight mix-up--the groomer, Toni, hadn't been looped in on the booking and already had a pup on the table. However, Toni was incredibly sweet and professional about it. She politely asked if we could come back at 12 PM, and I'm so glad we did. The 12 PM appointment was perfect. Unlike the "grooming mills" where it's loud and chaotic, it was just Toni and Barnaby. It was quiet, comfortable, and very low-stimulation. Barnaby took to her immediately (which says a lot!), and you can tell Toni has years of experience and genuinely loves the animals she cares for. Plus, the biggest win for any LA resident: THEY HAVE PARKING! No circling the block or fighting for a meter. The pricing is very fair for the area, and the level of 1-on-1 attention is unmatched. If your dog gets anxious during grooming, do them a favor and bring them here. We will definitely be back!
