My dog can be pretty nervous; they noticed, and asked if I'd be open to coming on Sundays when it's a little quieter for him. They're genuine in their care for the dogs that they work with. I brought my 10 month old rescue doodle pup (Huxley) here for his first ever haircut. He's a bit of timid boy so I was very nervous going in. I called the morning of my appointment and they did a great job of walking me through the process and giving me tips to help make sure he had a great experience (bring some of your dogs favorite treats!!). When I rescued him, he already had some bad matting behind the ears and on the legs. I definitely could have done a better job grooming him. When I got there I spoke with Quinlan who was amazing! He showed me all the places that were matted that I didn't even notice. He clearly explained that they could try brushing out the matts but that would be an uncomfortable experience for Huxley and may traumatize him, making future grooming scary. I explained that I would REALLY like to keep as much hair as possible but also wanted to prioritize his comfort. Quinlan wrote down all my request and even had my inspiration picture already in their system. (This ain't their first time!) Shortly after I left, I got super anxious about how short they were going to cut. I called back and Quinlan reassured me that he communicated to the groomer that I would like to save as much hair as possible. What I really loved was that about 15 minutes later he gave me a call back saying they had more thuroughly examined Huxley and the matting was more intensive than they previously thought. We agreed that the best way to proceed would just be to shave him and give him a reset to grow back healthy fur. Quinlan and the staff clearly had Huxleys best interest at heart and they did a great job of communicating with me and setting expectations. In preparing for his first haircut I read countless reviews of groomers and saw story after story of someone picking up their dog and the groomer had done something completely opposite of what they requested without ever communicating with the owner. Paws and Effects kept me regularly updated and talked me through what would be best for Huxley. I can't stress enough how nice this was for someone getting their puppie's first haircut and how much it helped to relieve my anxiety. Huxley is now looking cute as a button and doesn't have large matts pulling at his skin, making him uncomfortable! Thank you so much Quinlan and everyone at Paws and Effects. We will definetly be coming back soon! (The photos show how overgrown and matted he was before his cut. They even saved a large matt to show me when I picked him up) read more

My recently adopted king cavalier spaniels got a bath and groom here at Paws & Effect today. It seems like trimming the hair around their paws gets long and makes it uncomfortable to walk. I tried to trim it myself but not as easy as YouTube makes it seem especially since they are not puppies. I'm super happy how nice both of their cuts and how well their paws were trimmed.
