Ordered one of the best biscuit breakfast in the world. Came with pickled beets, coleslaw and the perfectly poached egg on top with a tomato jam. Wow, I can't even wrap my taste buds around how delicious the smokey mountain brook was. I wanted a local fare, like smoked trout, I'm not the biggest fan of arugula, but I gave it a try and it was so balanced I ate way more than I anticipated. Would've been better if the food had arrived warmer. I know some people like to eat their food at room temp, but just not my preference. In my experience, if eggs "over easy" are cooked at too high a temp the whites become leathery. I know some people like that leathery white thing, but just not my preference. And no, the eggs being room temp didn't offset being cooked in too hot oil. The biscuit was doughy (maybe just undercooked) but I was able to eat around the edges of it and the edges were actually tasty. Sure would've liked to have had a whole biscuit tho! I know some people like to eat their biscuits at room temp, but just not my preference. I prefer them hot, I think they taste better. A hot biscuit also helps to melt the butter and at the risk of sounding like a prima donna the cold little bricks of butter I tried and failed to spread on it became a bit of a turnoff. The home fries seemed undercooked but I was able to eat a few. Nothing really special about them, just seemed like a potato chopped up and pushed around in grease. I did like the jam/jelly selection, nicely done. Some may wonder why I didn't complain or send this back. I had an appointment down the road and wouldn't have made that considering the initial order took 12 minutes from payment to plate landing on the table, so a re-do would've been??? no idea how long. Sometimes it's better to just tough it out. It wasn't busy, there was no line to order, about 6-8 patrons total in the restaurant. I was surprised at the wait, but part of that was my order getting crossed with someone else. They have two main seating areas and an outside area as well. But the place stays busy from the time they open. You order at the counter, then get a number, and find a place to sit.... They bring you the food. They will help you to find a spot as well. You're not just left trying to kick someone out of their table. They try to be sure you have a spot before you order so you're not just left holding a plate and standing to eat. As you get close to placing your order they have a glass case filled with pastries and sweets that are all home made. Blueberry pastries, cinnamon rolls, croissants, scones and other delectable items. Take my advice... get one! I had a blueberry pastry that was awesome! The order taker was good considering that it was just nonstop and we had a party of 8 to take orders from. They managed like it was just a normal deal... no fuss no muss. When I placed my order I went for the biscuits and gravy. I love a good biscuit and gravy meal, but they have "twisted biscuits" here! I got the one called The Lookout: Fried chicken, bacon, and cheddar cheese. Smothered with gravy all loaded inside two huge home made heavenly fluffy biscuits! Just on the edge of town this biscuit stop is a definite must! I came by this morning for a biscuit and it is hands down. That largest biscuit I have ever had in my life period it was so incredibly delicious on its own but to step it up a notch I had one of their 4 amazing flavored jams. It was so tasty that I had to come back for lunch and do it all again. This place has a ton of Hometown charm and the staff is super kind. THE FOOD!!! IS SO SO GOOD!! So good I made myself sick! We took a little day trip out to Black Mountain while visiting Asheville today. Such a cute little town! The first thing we did was seek out a good breakfast place and Yelp came through yet again! With Blue Ridge Biscuit Company coming out on top of the recommended list, we headed here as soon as we arrived. When we walked in, we were pleased to see how cute the inside was compared to the outside. We were immediately greeted as we made our way to the counter to place our order. I knew from looking at the menu online that I was going to get something "local" so I ordered the Smoky Mountain Brook (smoked trout spread, poached egg, red onion and arugula with a caper dill cream cheese sauce and topped with tomato jam). It was absolutely delicious! My daughter chose The Lunker (fried catfish, chipotle lime slaw and roasted pepper remoulade). She loved it (and even shared a little with her dad). My husband had a simple Biscuit Egg and Cheese. The serving sizes were very generous and they brought out yummy homemade jams to have with our meal! To drink, my daughter had a Dirty Chai while I had a plain coffee. For that, I was instructed to pick any mug I wanted and to help myself to as much coffee as I desired. Such a friendly place! This place has become a 'must' every time we visit BM. I was so excited to show our girls the biscuits 'as big as plates' and it was even better than I remembered. Everyone loved their meal. I ordered the Lookout with a side of grits. I literally can't find one thing that needs to be improved with the biscuit meal and the grits were honestly the best I've ever had. I was blown away. Tip: know that there's probably a wait here. We came on Friday morning and while there were a few tables open, they seemed short-staffed and we had to wait in line. My wife and I came here for breakfast last week. First off, we got there around 9am and there was a line that lasted around 15 min. It got longer and was prob 20+ min waiting around 10am. You order first, sit down, and then they'll bring your food to you. Btw coffee was just ok, drip coffee and was not anything special. But my wife got the Smoky Mountain Brook, which tasted incredible. It came with a runny egg if you like that. It was fresh, delicious, with a bit of tang. I got The Lookout, which was also incredible. Another thing is that the biscuits are like 3x the size of your normal biscuit, and I couldn't even finish mine. Fried chicken tasted good, was a bit oily which makes me suspect they needed to clean their fryer. Sausage gravy was great, and so was the bacon. A complete surprise to find this delicious breakfast and lunch place, not far from our campground. Lots of gluten free and vegan options. Everything is organic or sustainable. I had the scrambled egg platter, 2 scrambled eggs, pork sausage, homemade outstanding grits and a gluten free biscuit. Wow, it was out of this world. Staff were running around and the host/cashier was quite rude and unapologetic. She was just telling people they had to wait as tables were dirty. The three girls in front of me were turned off and just left to find a new place. I got a biscuit with egg and cheese and a coffee. Around $10 without tip. Felt steep for what it was but the meal was huge. Two meals in one. Biscuit was fluffy and delicious. Not all of the cheese was melted but it was good anyway. As someone else said, their coffee is awful. It's super watered down. No discount for bringing your own mug. Oh well. I had half my biscuit and nothing to eat it with when I heard another server offer jam. My server the cashier did not. Glad I overheard and sought it out myself as it's delicious. Tastes homemade. Have been going to the Blue Ridge Biscuit Company for several years now and have never been disappointed. Their hand made biscuits are airy, fluffy and layers of thin flakes and butter. They also have gluten free biscuits that are just as delicious and flakey. Today we had biscuits, eggs and cheese and sausage patties as a protein and a Mountain Man biscuit that is piled high with pulled pork, pickled red cabbage with sweet BBQ sauce. Other than the Mountain Man, my favorites include the "Greybeard" which is a chicken fried steak biscuit topped with slices of a fried green tomato with a house made honey mustard sauce to the "Lookout" which is a chicken fried steak biscuit topped with bacon and shredded cheddar cheese and smothered with sausage gravy. They also make their own pastries on site that include croissants and strudels and they brew their own specialty coffees and they also have a wide selection of teas at their coffee bar. read more

A latecomer to biscuits and gravy, I've enjoyed exploring the southern dish offering in many locations. To date, of the handful places I've ordered from, BRB Co has top billing. Located on the main route and with plenty of parking in the storefront mall, the location is modest, in contrast to the food. We ordered inside for food to go and waited a reasonable amount of time. Two of us chose the biscuits and gravy, and, due to COVID, we ate in our car. While the ambiance in a compact car was not the same as in the restaurant, the biscuits were amazingly flaky, warm, tasty and, yes, they melted in the mouth! The sausage gravy contained the right ratio of sausage to gravy, and, the salty and spice fit perfectly with the biscuit's texture and taste. I've since found out that the restaurant is known for their amazing homemade preserves meant to be applied generously on the biscuits. Unfortunately due to COVID, the preserves were not available. TIP: If you're not quite hungry to stop while in the area, take a hike first at one of the many nearby trails. You're stomach will thank you! read more

The environment isn't special. The interior temperature is cold in the winter. I get that it's in an old retail strip, but I HATE being cold while I eat. The wooden chairs are basic and not that comfortable. It's very "biscuit head" rip off -- unless it's the other way around. I did like the biscuit. I liked it better than Biscuit Head. But I want to want to go to lunch in a place and this isn't a place that invites me back. If you like a meat-n-three that is super basic this is your place. You order and then sit. The gal taking the order seemed a tad impatient. The waitress then hovered a bit -- then I realized it's because they were shutting down at 2:00. Lights were off, nobody round while we wrapped up our lunch. This area is recovering from Helene, and I'm going to say let's have Grace. So I'm likely to give it a second shot. We come here whenever we are in the area and it remains our top breakfast spot anywhere around Asheville. Eat whatever you want on the menu because it is all good and whatever you do, ORDER A BISCUIT. The fresh made daily biscuit is a big rectangle layered and beyond delicious. They make homemade jams to go with it. I can't find the words on how good they are but I will say that we take 6 on the road home to give to family and 2 never make it home. Beyond thè Biscuit, they make all sorts of "twisted" biscuits with different toppings- all delicious. We often get the breakfast platter and substitute in a biscuit for the toast. My wife loves the spiced pickled beets and I like the savory grits. The restaurant is clean, has an outside seating area out back and is very busy. The service is excellent.
