There aren't many tables inside but the restaurant is in two parts. They have what you see when you walk in which is like the classic diner vibe and then an additional bar area in the back. The food was fine. The kids burger was the saddest thing I'd ever seen the salad with an addition of chicken was also the saddest amount of chicken I'd ever seen. The fish taco special was really good with their homemade chips and the Fairview burger was fine. The best food they had was the fried pickles. Perfect sized pickle chips with a delicious batter! So good!! Overall it's a good eat for the money.

The post peaked my interest, especially, since I knew exactly where it was, so, I YELPED it and made plans to go. On our last visit to Waynesville, I put it on my cheap places to try list. We had my in-laws in tow, so I'm reporting the opinions of 4 people. My wife and her dad got the country fried steak. They said it was okay, but nothing special and they wouldn't get it again. My MIL and I both got the Meatloaf sandwich. I got mine on a hoagie bun and my MIL got hers on Texas toast. We both enjoyed our meatloaf sandwiches. Mine was worth going back for another. My MIL also enjoyed half of hers and gave me the other half. The Hoagie bun was definitely the better decision. This is a cheap diner with cheap diner food. The atmosphere is just what it looks like in the pictures and it's exactly what we were looking for. The staff is very friendly. Our waitress tried to sell us some of their homemade desserts, but, unfortunately we already had ingredients and plans for an apple tart, back at the cabin. We will definitely visit this place again, on our next trip. I'll get another meatloaf sandwich, (it was really outstanding) my wife will get something other than the fried steak and we'll both grab a couple of those good looking homemade desserts they had in their display case. We spend a lot of money eating out, when we travel, so I always sprinkle in a couple of cheap places, in order to afford a few pricier, more upscale places. Our waitress, Shannon, was incredibly sweet, attentive, and seemed to think of every little detail before we even had to ask. She made the entire experience even more enjoyable. The food was phenomenal! The wedge salad topped with perfectly cooked ribeye was fresh, flavorful, and satisfying. The hand-breaded fried okra was crispy and delicious--some of the best we've had. The smell of fries made me drive home faster lol. When I got home and opened the containers I was blown away of the size of the hotdogs. The roadside-style motel is defunct with boarded up doors and broken windows but don't let that deter you. Just go to the back of the parking lot to the building with red shutters. There is a decent amount of parking with one handicapped space by the door. There are steps going up to the door, so bear this in mind if you are mobility-challenged. On entering, there is a small counter to the left with the cash register. We were greeted as we entered and told to sit anywhere. Seating is all tables, either two or four tops. While it is definitely an older building it is clean and bright inside. Our server came as soon as we sat down and took our drink order. She returned in maybe a minute with the drinks and took the food order. She was very pleasant and an obvious professional. The menu is fairly large but simple to understand. You can select one egg and then add whatever other protein you want. The eggs come with biscuit or toast, and grits or gravy, so it's easy to assemble the meal just for you. They also have omelets, pancakes, and French toast so you can easily find something you like. The food arrived in no more than five minutes. This was unexpectedly quick but everything was cooked as ordered and hot off the grill. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the sausage ordered with the eggs was hand patted. I would have preferred two sausage patties but the one provided was very tasty. The biscuits are obviously homemade. The sausage gravy had some sausage bits evident and I did add pepper (a personal preference) and it was very good. The Western omelet had all ingredients cooked in with the eggs. The hash browns were more like home fries and crispy on the outside and soft inside. There were not many people here when we were, but they did have several take out orders. Service was very good as was the food. This is certainly an instance of not judging a book by its cover and may be the most accurate description of a hidden gem.
