We snuck in here to look for a snow globe for my daughter she always brings one back home from every place we travel to as a memento of the trip. We hadn't seen one anywhere else so we were sweating it lo and behold on one of the shelves stood the cutest mini snow globe complete with little black bears so stinking adorable and exactly what we were looking for! The shop has a myriad of items ranging from Knickknacks to apparel to toys. On a regular day you could spend a good amount of time in here just looking at all the items on both floors. I definitely recommend a visit here if you're in town!

What once felt like a nonprofit thrift store serving animals and the community now feels more like a for-profit or consignment-style operation, except the items here are donated, not consigned. Prices have grown exponentially. I've personally seen used Danner boots priced around $175 for used shoes, dish sets priced $50-$100, purses commonly priced $15-$100, and everyday household items priced far beyond normal thrift store standards. Cups that should be 50 cents are a couple dollars or priced much higher. Used shoes are often far outside what locals can reasonably afford-$10-50. Again for used shoes!!! This is not consignment. These items were donated by local people out of the goodness of their hearts with the expectation that they would stay affordable and accessible. Blairsville is still a lower-income area overall, even with tourism. Pricing should reflect the people who actually live here. They also removed the monthly $6 bag sale, blaming theft. From a customer perspective, this feels less about theft and more about greed. Locals have complained repeatedly and they ignore them citing their same excuse. I've been in the store multiple times and heard shoppers openly say things like, "That's outrageous" while looking at prices. I've also been informed that this store is generating millions in revenue each year in a small town. I can't confirm if this is accurate but there are some reliable sources that are getting very fed up with the greed from the people at the top and that work at the store. If that's even remotely accurate, locals deserve transparency. Where is the money going? The board members are reportedly not local, and it shows. The community connection that once existed feels gone. As a low-income local, I used to enjoy going into this store. It was friendly, welcoming, and community-focused. That atmosphere is not there anymore. If you want to donate to a place that clearly gives back and shows where the profits go, I strongly recommend: * Habitat for Humanity Blairsville-prices are starting to elevate to but staff is super sweet * Safe Thrift Shop * Empty Stocking Thrift in Blue Ridge, which actively supports their community and prices items fairly This community needs accountability and transparency. A nonprofit thrift store should not price out the very people who helped build it.

Beautifully curated space with several amazing collections from local artists!…read more Doreen's Art House sits alongside several other local retailers and eateries along Main Street in downtown Blue Ridge. As we wondered from shop to shop, the open doors and cute pup on the porch invited us in to a beautiful space filled with art of all styles. While the walls and tables were lined with completed pieces, the artist staffed for the day was in the middle of completing a beautiful animal print. Overall, Doreen's Art House is a great addition to the downtown Blue Ridge scene and is certainly a spot I will frequent when visiting the area!
