Checked the reviews before we went and Leah was all up in arms about how spicy it was. Got a Beef Bean Crunchwrap and it was excellent. About as spicy as typical Mexican food, like a splash of Tapatio on scrambled eggs. Staff was smiley, friendly, and made polite conversation with us. The view from inside the brewery where we sat was very pretty, seeing the snow on all the trees really gives a winter wonderland vibe. Don't let the review of a Karen with the palate of a five year old dissuade you from checking this place out. read more

Stopped into Girdwood Brewing for a snack and some beer after a day of cross country skiing. They always have phenomenal food trucks and today was no different. Grabbed a shredded pork slammer and the truffle oil and parm fries. The two women who were working the truck were super helpful in describing the different options. The truck was super clean and all the items that were currently on the line being made looked great. Will definitely be back and can't wait to try the other slammer options! read more

New Mexican cuisine in Alaska, can you believe it?! This may be the only place in the state serving such food. It's often posted up in the Girdwood Brewing parking lot, which is where I found it. I'm now regretting that I didn't take a picture of the menu. Both because I don't remember the name of what I had, and because I want ya'll to see why I had a tough time picking. The menu is very unique. I went with what amounted to a fancy burger with fancy cheese but served...in a tortilla instead of on a bun. It was mighty tasty, I just wish I were a bit mightier in its hunger-busting ability. Would love to go back and try their other options. read more

Visited from out of town. Full disclosure of exactly how spicy their food is would have been really nice to know. We walked up, looked at the menu, ordered food. No where was it blatantly obvious it was a "spicy food truck". One could assume chile means spicy, but I didn't not assume it was melt my face off level of spicy. I had to throw mine away, my friend gave hers away. I was so confused as to how I missed that key information. I went back and looked at the menu, and again, there is nothing obvious to warn against the level of heat. Please update your menu to disclose that the item is spicy. A pepper icon next to the item even. My friend and I both wasted our money on food we couldn't enjoy due to either (yes, maybe) our misunderstanding, or the menus lack of description. Either way, it's an easy fix if you care. read more

Maybe this place is good, but based off the one menu item I tried, I was not impressed. I ordered their version of Taco Bell's crunch wrap. It did resemble a crunch wrap, however I much prefer Taco Bell's $6 version which tastes better than Blue Ristra's $12 remake. Additionally, when I asked the cashier what was in the wrap, she never mentioned beans. BTW I hate beans, and there were SO many beans in the wrap, it was overwhelming. It was also bland and lacked good flavor. So, that is my review of Blue Ristra. I kind of blame them for not adequately describing what I was getting when I asked. Had they told me the wrap was loaded with beans, or mentioned the word "chili" I would have avoided ordering it, but they didn't. On the plus side, the brewery next door is very good. read more

Amazing food! I got the fries and they were cooked to perfection. Perfectly located right outside the brewery and satisfies you're hunger. However, they did have hot sauce on the counter that I couldn't resist. When I used it I put way too much on and ruined my food. read more

One of the greatest food trucks I have ever eaten at. Hands down. First of all, the price is phenomenal for what you get. 6$ for a 1/4 pound of meat topped with fresh lettuce, avocado and tomato is incredible. The taste was also incredible, the "Tortilla Wrapped Burger" (which was what I had.) was extremely well seasoned and the veggies inside the burger/wrap was fresh and crunchy. Blue Ristra is a food truck parked outside the delicious Girwood Brewery and I got the Frito pie, served in the Frito bag, like it should be. It has quality spice, a good kick, and just terrific flavor all around. My boyfriend got the green chili burger and fries. He raved about the tortilla wrap and the flavor. I snuck a few fries and they are delish. We'll be back to town for mountain biking season and can't wait to come back here. I'm going to be craving this food and beer combo for months! read more

I just tried a burger at the Blue Ristra in Girdwood. Excellent choice for a quick bite to eat. I thought it was a little weird at first that they prepare their burgers with a tortilla instead of a bun; but, it makes a lot of sense when you eat it. All of the juicy goodness is trapped neatly inside. Easy to eat and the flavors blend well for an amazing taste sensation. If you're in Girdwood stop by the Girdwood Brewery and enjoy the food truck. I confess that I hadn't tried it before because I don't drink beer. Homemade root beer and a great meal works for me. read more

We stopped by this place when it was parked outside the Girdwood Brewery. The owner was very accommodating and made us a "kids meal" that was a beef and cheese taquito. This was not on the menu and we were thrilled. My kiddo loved it. We followed it up with the hatch chile burger... and in one word, AMAZING! Most restaurants substitute anaheims for hatch chiles and people don't know the difference but I always notice. He doesn't do that and it was amazing. This is true New Mexican food here in Alaska.
