Located at the Cooper Landing Brewing Company, this restaurant serves up basic sandwich choices in the $15-17 range. I had a burger and fries, while my traveling companion had the Cuban sandwich. I thought the burger wasn't bad if not spectacular; she was less impressed with the Cuban. The fries were very good. Food orders arrive relatively quickly.

Blue Yeti serves hot sandwiches made to order out of a blue truck in the Alpine motel. Parking lot in Cooper Landing. Across Sterling Highway from the Drifter's Lodge. The chef has a selection of hot sandwiches to choose from including Turkey Reuben, Monte Cristo, Cuban, and breakfast burritos. A sandwich, chips, and drink make for the perfect lunch after a hike to Russian River Falls, or a mirning fishing trip. These sandwiches are delicious. The Reuben & Cuban were a big hit with my group, but the two who had the breakfast burrito thought it was too greasy & not great. I've been daydreaming about trying the Monte Cristo since I had the Reuben, though. Good potato chips. Friendly chef. Hot food. What more do you need.

    Monte christo.

Burger Meat was tasteless but fries were the bomb. Ranch had very little flavor. Fries sauce was good though.

This hotel was by far the worst place that we had stayed on our trip to alaska out of all seven locations. You check in at the restaurant.Although we had to go into the bar to find somebody to check us in and get us a key to the room. The guy was really nice. That checked us in and the price was right. Unfortunately, that was where the good things ended did. The place is clearly very dated, which is totally fine. There are random holes all along the wall, where it looks like other things used to be. Our friends were staying in the room next to us and their carpet was absolutely disgusting. Thankfully, we had some sort of vinyl on our floors. So that it wasn't that bad. Her bedding had multiple tears in it. Nothing in the room matched from the towels to the sheets. When we pulled back the sheets of the bed, there were little specks of what looked like dirt all along the bed, and it appeared that the sheets had not been cleaned. Thankfully, we had each brought a blanket. So we were able to use that to sleep with. It really, truly did feel dirty though sleeping in that bed. We only had two towels in our room for 4 people, so my husband went and asked for another. The only thing that they could give him was an extra hand towel. When I turned on the shower, the way that the shower head was facing the water, just completely shot right out of the shower stall leaving water all over the floor and no good towels to clean it up.

Then some new owners took over, and i was served limp and floppy fries and we didn't go back. Although of course I appreciate they may have had teething problems, as new owners, and that we'd go back at a later date. And we did return today. Our server was friendly, and helpful, brought us coffee, in sturdy Sunrise Inn mugs, and took our order (Crispy Chicken wrap and fries for me, Chili in Bread bowl for him) The atmosphere was warm and friendly, with quite a few diners in, chatting to the server. Guys, the Crispy Chicken Wrap brought to me, was simply outstanding. Perfect in every way. Great mix of crunchy vegetables, cheese, and creamy ranch, i cannot praise it enough. It's the best I've personally tasted, in, well, ever really. And the fries have redeemed themselves 1000%. Super crisp, and soft inside, beautifully seasoned. I am so happy that Sunrise Inn is THIS good. I'll be driving back down just to have this again, and think nothing of the drive. Blake really enjoyed his Chili Bread Bowl too. Seriously, if i can get food this good i don't really care about the cost, or the length of the drive to get to it. But yes of course it would be more convenient if it were in Anchorage, but the drive is half the fun. Also the staff - the server was great, very friendly, and the chef brought out our meals to us, and he had these pants on featuring fish. Very alluring, and I told him so. We'll be back sooner rather than later

Further there are a couple of easy, scenic walks on the property. A 1 mile fairly flat nature trail through a wooded area and a 1-2 mile walk to and along the river, also fairly flat (albeit there is a hill with a phone at the bottom, Princess will send a shuttle to retrieve you). We used it as a base for walking the Russian River and Russian Lakes trail (to the first lake), both highly recommended. With more time we would have headed to Juneau Falls...there are a ton of hikes in the area, all which sound tremendous. Could also be used as a base for Seward and exploring the Exit Glacier/Harding Icefield hikes. Have fun! Oh. The rooms. Kinda rustic but clean and spacious, a wood burning stove and TV (used neither), balcony, and very importantly a laundry. Which we made good use of. Check in. We arrived at ~1:30 and lying in wait was a sugary sweet desk clerk who *very* sweetly and in no uncertain terms told us that check in was 3PM. The only thing missing was a "Bless your Heart". No mandatory service charge, greatly appreciated. Very good service, personable, attentive server was really on top of things. Ambiance? Although we were not rushed in any way, the layout really seems designed to move people through quickly. Neither a positive or a negative, apart from the soon to be discussed pancakes, it was an enjoyable breakfast. I had Eggs Benedict, subbing a tomato slice for ham. Enjoyable, standard diner fare. Partner had Pancakes with fresh fruit and whipped cream which looked tremendous but tasted like they were grabbed from the warming tray, not freshly made. Inexcusable anywhere, but in particular for an establishment that advertises themselves as providing an '...elegant and fine dining...' experience. Ending breakfast we headed out to enjoy Alaska. After returning from a days hikes we were not in the mood for driving to dinner, so despite the mornings breakfast issues we returned to the Rod and Reel. The results were much better at dinner. Service remained good, my vegetable hot pot was greatly enjoyed, partners quesadilla (served with a massive quantity of tortilla chips) was filling and well prepared. Nice to finish on a positive note.

So, my neighbour has been nagging me for some time now to call in to "that place with the railcars"…read morejust outside of Soldotna, but I'd not yet been. Though she hadn't mentioned there was a restaurant, she raved about the coffee shop and waffles. So my friend and I were coming to Soldotna last weekend, and me, as usual, am frantically searching Yelp for something with 4/5 stars. Addie Camp came up as a contender, with a solid 4.7 stars, but I hadn't realised it was where the railroad cars are. So we decided to give it a go. What a beautiful area it is, once you get up into the parking lot! It's very neat and tidy, and all the little railroad cars surround the central parking lot. And there's really massive solar panels to the rear. I liked that. There was not a scrap of trash anywhere. Very inviting. So we head into Addie Camp, and I'm wowed. It's beautiful inside, cosy and welcoming, yet very modern. The staff are lovely. The hostess asked if we had a reservation, but as we didn't she invited us to sit at the bar. No problem! They have tables upstairs, and in a railroad car to the side. It's absolutely beautiful, and features a lot of warm wood, but not old wood, very light modern wood. I tell you, I'm in love with this place. Anyway so we sit at the bar, where Sam was mixing cocktails. Sam is very pleasing on the eye, I might add. He was using Fevertree Tonic in one of the cocktails, and I told him that Fevertree's Elderflower Tonic is one of my fave drinks ever, and he said he loved it too. Anyway, so upon perusing the menu - it's not a huge menu, but there are plenty of things I'll eat - I ordered the Gold Star Elk Burger with rosemary fries, and my friend got Gambas Al Ajillo (Spanish style wild Patagonia Shrimp in a spicy olive and herb citrus sauce served with fancy bread) and we both opted for a Train Track Tonic Mocktail, mainly because Sam the bartender told me he had elderflower syrup, and it was featured in one of the mocktails, so I was sold. The napkins are fabric, and the silverware is fancy, heavy, not your usual restaurant fare. I was quite impressed with how quickly we were served, because it was quite busy. The food itself was outstanding. The bacon jam in this burger is EPIC and it's not your usual tiny bacon crumbles, it had chunky bits of bacon, and was sweetly gooey, but savoury too, absolutely the best bacon jam I've had, and it just gave the already amazing burger a boost it didn't even really need. There's no way to eat this burger in a dainty ladylike fashion, it's a beast, and the bacon jam is messy, but I went with it, and Sam got us some extra napkins. About 3/4 of the way through, I had to go knife and fork on the burger. I wasn't leaving any of that thing. The fries were good, the burger good, the mocktail good, excellent service, very attentive. This is unquestionably THE best restaurant on the Kenai Peninsula, and I can't wait to come back with my husband, next time we're down there. And, I did see regulars come in and be treated like they were old friends. After my experience there, I can see why people would keep coming back, it's THAT good!
