My coworker and I were excited to try this new lil' taco spot nestled in the old south end pita pit location. The restaurant was clean and uncluttered. The staff was very friendly and offered us samples of a couple items. I had the El Pastor taco, chicken taco, and a Chile Verde taco, all were super delicious. They have a bunch of toppings you can choose as well to maximize your flavor combos should you desire. Thanks for adding a new delish taco location to south Anchorage Serrano's! We went back a second time and again the staff was super friendly, restaurant was clean, and I left in a heavenly food coma. Thanks again!

We won't ever be going back to Burros. We got a burrito, a quesadilla, a blended drink with chili salt, and street corn. First off I was eating my (very flavorless) burrito and chewed on this staple pictured. I thought it was a bone or something at first. We called to tell them and they wanted us to bring all the food back for a refund. I thought that was the strangest thing. My family and I were already mostly done eating by the time I bit into it. Although I paid about $60 for this meal, I just didn't think it was worth my time to have to drive the 25 minutes across town and then another 25 home just to return 2 half eaten plates of food. And then still have to figure out dinner for my family of 4. Obviously this resolution was dissatisfying. The burrito had nothing in it I think it was just meat and cheese, very very bland, I ordered Al pastor, but it was cut into large chunks and was flavorless. You can see in the picture it was about 4 layers of tortilla for what very little filling it had. In the picture the left side of the burrito was meat and the right side as you can see was basically all tortilla and I'm not sure maybe beans or something? Not good at all I'm very sorry. The quesadilla was also very bland and extremely greasy. I tried to show in the photo how much oil this thing was slathered in but it didn't come out well in the picture. But you can see all the oil on my plate. We called our order in but the person in front of me got one of those drinks and it looked super good so I ordered one. It was good but maybe not for me. A little too salty. I liked it, but I don't know...I wouldn't get it again, I would just get a diet soda or Mexican coke. Lastly we got some "street corn" which was very very limey and VERY watery and the texture made me wonder if it was frozen or canned corn. I could be wrong. It wasn't good at all either. I feel bad for leaving such a negative review but I just wasn't really happy with anything at all. From my empty burrito, to the watery corn, and the fact they expected me to drive an hour round trip, again.... To "bring back" the burrito with a staple....what a trip. I coulda written something nice here about the excellent customer service had they been willing to make that right, but bad food and poor service are the highlights of this review.

Burrito was mainly cheese and 17$. Chicken chipotle nachos had a lot of flavor but yet overpriced and too much cheese. Very much over hyped.

I understand food costs more in Alaska, but this felt overpriced for what I got. Four tacos with beans and rice came out to over $40 with tip for counter service. The beans were under-seasoned, the rice had very little flavor, and the tacos themselves were bland. I don't think they believe in seasoning The tip screen starts at 18%, then 22% and 25% even though you order at the counter, pick up your food yourself, and bus your own table. That didn't sit well either. As someone who grew up eating Mexican food, I was hoping for something amazing at this price point. I would strongly recommend you avoid this place.

The place is a little outdated, but it's very colorful and it adds to the ambiance of being transported to another place. Staff was attentive and we got to choose where we wanted to sit. They had a paint night type of event that was ending when we got there and as we kept eating more and more people slowly started coming in. Portion sizes are huge....we couldn't finish our food. We took it back to our Airbnb and we repurposed and used the leftover food into new dishes for breakfast the next day. Was this the best Mexican food ever.... well no, but it wasn't horrible. I got the Chile Verde Burrito and it was good. I think that the dishes were basic and there was nothing that took it over the top. Nothing special, no different seasoning. Even though we didn't finish the food, we ordered dessert and shared. The flan.....OMG! Yes, yes, yes! I would go back for the flan. It tasted like it had coconut, but when we asked they said that it didn't. Hmmm, not a bad thing that it tasted like coconut in my world, it just elevated the taste.

We had a BOGO Free dinner coupon so we decided to give them a try again. I had the tamale and relleno combo. The tamale, rice and beans were very good. However that relleno was BAD. It tasted like mold. I ordered another tamale ala carte ATI make up for it. My partner had the chicken suizas and I thought they were good. He thought the chicken tasted like it was precooked and reheated like at another local chain (TK) so he was a little disappointed. I thought it was tasty... The margaritas are nice and strong which is a plus, but not enough to make me return. I think we will stick to our main spot in Spenard for Mexican food...

I was expecting something more hole-in-the-wall (Mountain View has changed so much), but Xalos is an open space with lots of seating and a big menu. I couldn't decide on what to eat but went with the pork carnitas plate. Fiancé went with the birria tacos and we shared some guac and chips. You order at the counter and they bring the food out to you. The pork on mine was very tender and juicy and there was something about the flour tortilla that was different but very good. I seasoned it with their spiciest hot sauce (I could handle on its own, but accidentally ate a jalapeño right after...yikes). I honestly could have inhaled the whole plate but saved some for later. Fiancé is somewhat of a birria connoisseur, and while these weren't his favorite he enjoyed them. Xalos was a great find and good value for the price (a little over $50 for the two entrees and appetizer). I'd love to try their tacos on our next visit.

Like they were frozen, thawed and froze again. The sauce they simmered it in wasn't good and I'm convinced helped overcook them to a rubbery consistency. My steak was fine, but was well done vs medium rare like I ordered. I prepared myself that it likely wouldn't be cooked right, but I expected at least a little pink. I know it's not a steak house, but they cook steak for other items so I figured I'd be okay. My partner said his ranchero steak wasn't very good. He only ate it so I wouldn't feel uncomfortable eating while he waited. The meat wasn't very good he said, tasted old. He said the sauce wasn't very good either. For the rise in prices of things quality has gone down. They haven't done much for improvements - my seat had a big gash in it. Unfortunately after being a customer for many years I don't see myself returning here after 3 strikes this year of poor quality food at an inflated price. I think they should consider cutting their menu in half and really focusing on making quality dishes.
