Anna did a superb job on color-correcting my base color (my previous DIY root touch-up was too light), covering up the white/gray roots, and adding golden-copper highlights. The final curling at the end made me "look like a celebrity" according to my kid. Love how it turned out! The hair washing was relaxing and I wanted to fall asleep, lol. I can't believe I waited so long to try lash extensions! After three visits with Anna, I'm officially hooked. As an Asian girl with 3 barely-there lashes, I was skeptical about how they'd look, especially since I need to keep things pretty tame for my corporate job. But Anna totally got it and promised me a natural, work-friendly look. The whole process was way more relaxing than I expected. I think I even dozed off for a bit while Anna worked her magic - the relaxing music and her super gentle touch put me right to sleep! When I finally opened my eyes, I was amazed. Olivia at Blue Salon is a miracle worker! I have had a challenging relationship with my big curly hair. In the past I had equally challenging struggles finding someone who understood curls. They are a unique language. All hair salon folks by trade cut straight hair. Right? They are fluent in straight hair. But I don't have the pleasure of having straight hair so I wear a lot of hats when I'm not on speaking terms with my curls. They're rude and messy but with help from Olivia I have learned how to discipline and appreciate the curls my mother always loved. I knew the moment Olivia ran her hands over my self-cut nightmare that she knew what I needed. Olivia always just knows and I feel safe and confident that she will make sense of my hair mess. I leave an appointment with Olivia feeling beautiful and over the years I have sent my whole family to see her. During the Corona-closures I was so distraught I shaved my head. More than once. I have since returned to the Hair Whisperer Olivia to get my hair back to shape. Olivia is highly skilled, staying on top of current trends and techniques. Rates are reasonable. Parking is ample. Shop is clean, comfortable and happy. I am easily overwhelmed and overstimulated by noise and smell and I have never encountered discomfort of any kind during an appointment at Blue Salon with Olivia. Well this was awhile back, around the beginning of the year. Originally I got my haircut and color by Micheal about a year or 2 ago. He was such a great stylist and very meticulous. Took his time and really made sure that i was happy before i walked out the door. Unfortunately though he doesn't work there anymore. how do i know this? In the beginning of the year as i walked in with my cousin to see if he was still around i got the most rudest response ever! the girl assumed i had an apt and called over the lady whom she i had the apt with over. I then told her i was just here to see if Micheal was in today or if he still happen to work here. Her response? "We don't know where he is, do you?! Because we've been trying to find him" "Uh no, I just wanted to see if he was still here because he used to cut my hair" "Well he's not here, So when you see him, you tell him we're looking for him, OK!" wow... what can i say to that? akwardness? I guess these girls have some personal problems with this guy, but regardless. What a great way to show your potential clients that you don't give a F*** about them. Also, when Micheal was still working there I brought my friend in to get eyelash extensions done for her wedding. well 1 1/2hrs later they were beautiful! but.... I guess just because they look good doesn't mean they were done correctly. because after her wedding they all fell off.. that was $150 well spent. I called, complained and what did the girl have to say? not much, just that basically if i wanted it done again i would have to pay. YEAH RIGHT! she got her lashes done on Friday, her wedding was on Saturday, it fell off on Sunday. If it was done correctly it should have stayed on for at least 4-6weeks, not like 3 days! read more

I've been coming to her for years and the times that I had to get my haircut by a different salon made me realize that not everyone can do what I thought was a simple trim and layer. Let me start by saying it was pulling teeth with this guy to get a appointment I had to call everyday and no answer he finally txted me...that's when I knew it was so unprofessional not only Hector but everyone at this shop is careless and dull..please save your money don't waist your money on this poor so called business establishment. It costs an arm and a leg to get my hair done by Fritz so it had been a LONG WHILE since I had gotten my hair cut or trimmed. Then one day- it hit me... I want bangs... long bangs that skim the top of my eyelashes. I want it to be very chic, clean, and completely different from what I have now. So I called my sister-in-law about her stylist- May- and I was on my way to see her. May rents a chair at Blue Salon & Spa and she is FANTABULOUS!! She gave me long layers and long bangs, kept my length, & before I knew it... my hair was nothing short of EDGY CHIC! I was so ecstatic, I almost cried! I braced myself for her charges and nearly fainted when I realized how BEYOND REASONABLE her price was. How reasonable? So reasonable that I gave her a $20 tip and still came in waaaaay UNDER what I usually pay at Hair Play. Why $20? Because I would be racked with guilt if I walked out the door looking that fabulous & I didn't show her how much I appreciated it-- so much so that I even gave her a huge hug to boot. BEWARE: THEY CHARGE AN EXTRA $70 IF YOU HAVE ASIAN HAIR AND WANT HIGHLIGHTS! I scheduled an appointment with Tommy at Blue Salon. We spoke over the phone about my hair and that I was looking to get blonde highlights. I informed him that I have my old highlights and that the base of my hair is black. We discussed the pricing and that he would honor the groupon. When I arrived at my appointment time, he was with another client. Clearly he was busy. He directed me to the chair and then just looked at my hair. Then he told me since I have Asian hair it's hard to get the blonde highlights and that he would need to charge me an extra $70 dollars to add toner. I reminded him that we discussed over the phone that I have black hair and that the bottom half was old highlights. He just looked at me. At this point, I didn't want to get my hair done by him. I LEFT. I felt I wasted my time and also discriminated over my Asian hair. Beware that they have hidden fees and they are not trustworthy. ESPECIALLY TOMMY. read more

Finding a good hairstylist is hard. I've been to so many local salons and just never been totally satisfied. Sounds totally prejudiced, but really I need an Asian person to deal with my hair. It's not that non-Asians can't, but they're few and far between. But Anna, she's my girl! She knows how to deal with my thick thick straight hair. We've done perms, various cuts, colors, and it always ends up meeting my expectations. The other ladies are awesome, too! Unfortunately, this salon needs more professional help in the communication department. I called over 3 weeks ago and left a message on both numbers. No call back. I tried again 3 weeks later, same....no call back. Tried again a few days later and finally got an answer. Got set up with an appointment the next day. Got to appointment 20 min early. Response......oh did you not receive my message? I look at my phone, no calls. In their defense, my cell hesitates sending vm messages. But the excuse that someone else made an appointment for her and did not inform, is ridiculous. Again no communication. This is NOT an isolated occurrence. It has happened before, and I chose to give it the benefit of the doubt. Someone should be in charge of returning vm messages. Communication is critical for the business. read more

My good friend called this salon in advance to get some highlights after reading a Groupon Deal for $63. My friend told "Tommy" over the phone that she had black hair and that she needed highlights. Tommy gave her a price quote over the phone for $63 (as described in the coupon) and scheduled a 3 p.m. appointment. When my friend arrived at the salon at 3 p.m., no one at the salon said anything. Eventually, they asked what she needed. She said she had a 3 p.m. appointment with Tommy. Tommy, however, was already helping out another client. Tommy took a break from his other client and told my friend to come over. She came and sat down and Tommy took a look at her hair. Tommy asked what she wanted, and she said that she would like a haircut and highlights as they had discussed over the phone. Tommy stated that due to the fact that she had "Asian hair," the dye job would be difficult and not look good without toner. As such, he would charge an extra $70 for toner (even though toner is standard and cheap at most salons for darker hair). My friend reiterated the discussion that she had had with Tommy over the phone regarding her dark hair as well as the agreed upon price quote of $63 for the haircut and highlights. Nevertheless, Tommy insisted on the $70 toner fee. At that point, my friend said she would just get the haircut. Tommy said the haircut was part of the deal, which included highlights (highlights that apparently cost an additional $70.) So, the "deal" was actually for $63 + $70 = $133. My friend was pretty upset and decided to not get anything done at Salon Blue. She reiterated her phone discussion with Tommy and the fact that she relied on his word over the phone and had driven over to the salon. At the end of the day, my friend expressed that she felt incredibly misled and disrespected by this establishment, especially because of her "Asian hair." She and I will not be coming to this salon anytime soon. read more

I just walked in to this salon to ask for an eyebrow wax, and stood at the entrance for a few minutes and was never acknowledged. Mind you there's a sign on their door that says Walk in's ok. There were two ladies working on two clients and one other employee in the back who made eye contact with me, and did not say hello, or ask if I needed any help. I walked out and returned back, giving them the benefit of the doubt. I again felt I was being ignored. One lady finally asked what I needed. I asked, if the had any time for an eye brow wax and the I got a stare up and down and she looked at her clock and said no. She didn't even offer for me to return or an appointment. I have a Groupon for this place and I tried to call to set up an appointment but couldn't get a hold of anyone so since it was nearby I thought I would walk in and make an appointment. I walked in with my son and we were looked at, but not greeted by anyone. I stood next to the empty front desk for 7 minutes. one employee (male) looked at me and went back to work his client and one other employee walked next to me grabbed some foil and I looked at him but he was still In Mid convo with his client who was waiting for her hair color to set, and he didn't even acknowledge that I was there. finally a woman from the back came out with a client and greeted me, at that point I felt very uncomfortable with the place. but I told her I had a Groupon and she said she doesn't do Groupons, pointed to the 2 men and said they do the Groupons. We are independent business in one salon. So Great!, the 2 men that ignored me the whole time I was standing there. Are the ones I have to work with. What was I supposed to do? walk onto the floor and interrupt their conversations to ask for an appointment? It was very unprofessional, the place looked cluttered and unwelcoming, which I would be ok with if their customer service was great!
