I read the other reviews, and I can see how everyone's experience might be different, but I came in looking for retro games, and my experience was great. No one bothered me while I was browsing, which was what I wanted. Good selection (but not great), as several items I saw elsewhere for over market price were not even in their inventory here. I've had consoles for 36 years and I've been a more serious collector for about the last 7-8 years so I know what I'm looking for and I know approximate market value and the selections I made were in the correct range and I didn't see anything too terribly over-valued. I went into this game store simply looking to get a disc resurfaced--something I've done at other locations without any hassle. I picked up the game from a thrift store for a couple bucks and noticed some light scratching, so I figured resurfacing it would be a good precaution. However, the employee refused, insisting I test the game first before having it resurfaced. I explained I understood the risks of resurfacing and that I was fine with spending a few bucks to try and make the game work, even if it didn't end up playing. I told him I only paid $2 for the game, and I was okay spending another $5 for resurfacing just to be on the safe side. Still, he kept pushing back, saying I'd be "out seven dollars" if it didn't work--like that was some major loss I hadn't considered. It didn't stop there. He suggested I try cleaning the disc first, so I asked if they had any cleaning materials I could use or if they could clean it in the back--I was even willing to pay for it. But again, he refused and said that was "something I could do at home," despite having the cleaning materials visibly behind the counter. It honestly felt like the employee just didn't want to do his job. I wasn't asking for anything crazy--just a resurfacing, which I've had done plenty of times before at other stores with no issue and no unnecessary lectures. This experience was frustrating and way more complicated than it needed to be. read more

Had a awful experience here due to owner/manager of store escalating a situation they were not part of. Never have i been treated in such a way at any gamestore. Wow! When my kids were kids, they would have LOVED this place. Well, actually they'd love it as grown ups! All things gaming here. Games, games and more games. New stuff and retro stuff. They have gaming systems and accessories. They also have collectible items. My visit was just to pick up an item I had ordered on "Wish". The guy behind the counter was really nice. I was at first put off by the high prices (higher than price charting says they should go for). But they do have two things going for them: helpful and friendly staff, and quick repair service for damaged recent purchases. I bought a Game Boy pocket ( Blue in case you wanted to know) and I was excited to play my original game boy games the way the were originally meant to be played. There was only one problem: the start and select buttons needed to be pressed very hard to work. I explained my problem, and they agreed to fox it. I got my game boy back the next day and it works perfectly. Sometimes you need to take service into account when you buy something. You're not just buying a product, you're also buying a guarantee that they will fix what is broken, and they will gladly exchange it if they can't. Keep up the service quality and I'll gladly pay more than the bare minimum. read more

Seeing so many systems and games gave a rush of good feelings, if you're a looking to start a gaming collection or pick out the that one game that's missing Blue Shell Gaming - Fresno will be the place, if the Bullard store doesn't have it then Madera or Clovis will. What I liked was how the store was set up the massive walls showing so many games in their original cases and the display case with the really high end games was what caught my eye. Decided to turn in my old console and video games since GameStop does not accept anything from older generations. Was graciously greeted by staff who invited me to browse around while obtaining price quotes for my trade-ins. I was blown away with their inventory. Everything from last gen's games/consoles/peripherals all the way to the Nintendo classic, I've never seen so much of my childhood under one roof! Staff is knowledgeable as well. Kiara, a manager, was able to tell me which plug-in microphones I would need for different PS2-era karaoke games, and which would need an adapter for my backwards compatible PS3. This saved me from the future headache of discovering this problem on my own, all within a matter of minutes. I have always been the kind of person to support a family owned business or a small business over a big conglomerate, so I decided to go here instead of the usual GameStop. My first visit here, I brought in over 20 Xbox games to see what kind of trade they could do for me. They offered me $15 in store credit for EVERYTHING. No biggie, I accepted it and went on my way. However the next time I came in, I see one of my games (a limited edition metal tin version of dragon ball z for the Xbox one) being sold for over $30. Again, whatever, no biggie I understand the need to make money on their end so I let it go. Then, I began to browse around the PlayStation games because my boyfriend had just gotten a PS4 and I wanted to get him some games. I had a very nice employee come up to me and ask me what I needed help looking for today, and I explained to him that my boyfriend got a PS4 (I was clear about this) and I was looking to get some games for him to play. He then told me "Well just so you know, all of our PlayStation 3 games are buy two get one free right now!". Myself, being exclusively an xbox player where games are backwards compatible, thought how great of a deal that was and decided to pick some up. I then quickly discovered that PlayStation games aren't backwards compatible as well, so I quickly went somewhere else to get some games for my boyfriend for Christmas that he could actually play, and I was going to return these ones. I went into the store tonight and explained the situation, and asked for my money back. The associate that assisted me told me it was my responsibility to be aware of what games were playable on what system, and said he would ask if I could do an exchange for some different games. That was the moment I realized I was never coming back to this store again. Even though it was THEIR MISTAKE that THEIR ASSOCIATE had made, it was still somehow my own responsibility. He was incredibly condescending and offered absolutely no sort of apology even for a miscommunication. He told me they didn't offer refunds and it was printed on the receipt, but absolutely no one made that policy clear to me when I purchased, and when I wanted help from their employee and I TOLD HIM WHAT SYSTEM MY BOYFRIEND JUST GOT, he still pointed me towards the PS3 games which were useless to me. And if their no refunds policy is on the receipt, when was I going to be made aware of the policy?? Because when do we get receipts? AFTER THE PURCHASE. So basically, you're informed of the policy once it is already too late to get your money back. In the end, I was given store credit to do an exchange for PS4 games, but the associate made me feel like it was my fault and that somehow they were doing me a favor. It frustrates me that I really tried giving a family owned business a chance, and they screwed me over and treated me that way. They robbed me twice, it definitely won't happen a third time. Anyways, if anyone has managed to read this far, just go to GameStop instead. read more

I brought in a few items to check how much they'd offer. they said 110 for a limited edition GameCube and a couple games. I later sold them to a guy in that parking lot after he told me to meet him there. Afterwards he asked to test them inside and they told him that the games don't work and would need to be resurfaced. also that the GameCube had broken parts inside and rattled. However when the guy went home and checked himself everything was in perfect working order with no problems at all. Such a horrible thing to do. I can't believe they would do this to anyone. it is borderline Defamation on my character to tell a customer of mine that i lied about the items. read more
