Blue sky was good bar food. Had a lot of martinis on the menu and I was satisfied with my Lemon Drop. I tried the Steak and Avocado Salad. It was pretty good, just found out that I personally do not like feta cheese ( which is on the salad). That's not their fault and our service was great. The waitress we had was funny and they were fast even though they were short staffed. I hope that changes for them soon. It's a cute little place! read more

I'm going to start off with the service. Service here is atrocious. Actually, it's non-existent. You need to go to the bar on a slower day because your waitress is also the bartender. I needed my ice tea to be refilled and never got one. The next part is unforgiving. What came out seemed very pleasing to the eye but in reality the fish tacos were overseasoned with salt. I will give this place two stars because the staff is nice and their drinks and fries are good. But. We won't be going back. First time we came: great server, above-average food. I got a lavosh pizza that was pretty good, and big enough to feed the entire table. (It is actually served in the pan it's baked in. I'm sure the restaurant thinks this is clever, but it comes across as lazy and frankly it takes up an embarrassing amount of the table.) Anyway - it was decent and close to home. Done. So, tonight, we let our daughter pick. Blue Sky. Fine. We go... and it sucks. Waiter obviously new. Chicken obviously used after being "rescued" from freezer burn. The "nachos" app was - literally - eight chips covered in cheese and aforementioned chicken, with a huge pile of wilted lettuce and brown guacamole (see pictures) in the middle. Not three minutes after the app arrives, our meals arrive - and the waiter stands there awkwardly while we scramble to make room on the table. Never cleared a single plate, despite how badly they were piling up on the table. Service sucked. Our meals sucked. Husband's martini and fries were the only good part of the meal. Bummed, because we wanted to find a great neighborhood place. But we aren't going back. We just moved back to the area after living in Dallas for 8 years (where amazing restaurants and bars are plentiful). This was our "to go" neighborhood bar that we visited often, so we were anxious to return! What a disappointment. We sat at the bar and I ordered my favorite martini, a gin martini with a lemon twist and a few drops of orange bitters (the classic recipe). I initially asked the bartender if they had orange bitters and she said "yes", so I ordered my martini as described. When she served it, it was a brown color (orange bitters is clear). I took a sip and immediately knew she used Angostura Bitters, not orange. She was clueless and had a discussion with the other bartender as they looked at the bitters. Turns out, they didn't have orange bitters (and this is a martini bar)? To top it off, the martini was served in a plastic martini glass (and this is a martini bar)? After I told the bartender my drink was wrong she was very rude to us. I cannot believe a place that calls itself a martini bar doesn't have the proper ingredients, tools or education to make the most basic martini. The menu is full of sweet, foo foo drinks. On a side note, the food was good and the beer was cold. I understand good help (or help in general) is hard to find, but when the bartender got an attitude I was pissed at her behavior, not the drink mistake. Hence the one star. read more

Our first visit will be our last, unfortunately. The food is gross. If you have a Costco membership, you can prepare better food at home. We ordered potato skins and pretzel bites as apps. They were not freshly made and not even hot, possibly microwaved. They were room temp; the potato skins were dry and mealy. Not fresh and definitely not even hot. The quarter pounder and double burger's that were ordered tasted like frozen patties...the tater tots and fries were similar to items you can pull from your freezer and heat in the oven. Our bill totaled $104 before tip for 4beers, 2 sodas, 2 apps and 4 sandwiches with fries or tots. Totally over priced food. The waitress was however nice and checked in frequently. read more

Highly disappointed. This place was one of our favorite places to eat in O'Fallon years ago and then we had 3 bad experiences in a row and hadn't been back in probably 8 years. We decided that it had to have gotten better because they were still in business this many years later. The waitress was nice but the simple food we ordered took forever to come out and when it finally did, my sandwich and my fries were just barely warm. My wife ordered the "customer favorite" sloppy joe and they put cheese on top that wouldn't even melt because the sloppy joe was also just barely warm. Admittedly, we did not have an alcoholic drink, so maybe we were on the I don't care list. Either way, there are too many good places to eat in O'Fallon so I guess we'll give it another 8 years to give it another shot. read more

Quite delicious. We were invited by friends who had just moved to the area and we were quite happy with the food and drink. Good craft beer selection. Delicious burger, with toasted bread and a tasty sauce. Accompanied by tater tots. My wife had the Philly sandwich which she enjoyed. Breakfast food was a bit of a disappointment. Pretty sure the bacon and potatoes had been sitting in a warmer and definitely not freshly cooked. Pancakes were very dry. It is a shame that a place with good food and great atmosphere is ruined by their service. Our waitress actually bumped and hit us when removing plates or bringing food without apologizing or acknowledging doing so. Food came cold and we had to get refills from the bar. The waitress confronted me in the middle of the dining room when I said the service was terrible. I regrettably still paid 10% tip. Then the waitress and manager were going off on me in front of other patrons and when I said I would not be back, they yelled out goodbye. It wasn't a bad experience. It wasn't great, either. I got the Cajun chicken sandwich, and my friend got one of the burgers. I ordered the veggies as my side, and they were cold. I get the gyro and fries for lunch and it's always good. Not carved off a Greek spin griller but it's still good. We went for dinner one night and it was pretty bad. It was packed and the tables are way too close to each other. The food was all cooked in the same old fishy grease. Not good at all. Been a customer since the place first opened six years ago. I cut back on going out and have not been there nearly as much as I used to. Bill has a good sense for what will work in the community and has kept some long term employees around. He also revamps the menu and wine list 3-4 times a year, so if you haven't been there in a while, there's usually something new and different. The menu is pretty standard American style food, but their Cuban sandwiches and gyros are pretty good for the area and probably my two recommendations. The bar gets busy at night but finding a table to dine at is usually not too much of a problem except on weekends. The patio is also nice during the summer and helps with that. The gooey butter cake there is some of the best in St. Louis. Not dry and nasty like you get at the grocery store, and sometimes they make it with specials such as lemon or chocolate. read more

Walked in tonight sign said seat yourself. We were rudely addressed as we were walking to the table and told to go wait by the door. After talking to two waitresses the young man asked if we had reservations. We did not. There were three tables occupied and plenty open. Wanted to try the gryo...took a bite ended up with a bread tie twisty IN the gyro. Take 2 with the gyro.. looks like they just slapped the meat onto the sandwich.... the first one had a better look. Meat tasted like spam. Spam .. actually I think spam has more of a flavor. ... the goat cheese was fine as was the sauce. Served in a pie dish that left a mess on the table when Mike took it away. Was told manager would come to talk to me. 30 mins later the manager came to talk to me. At least they didn't charge me for it... even if I was willing to pay... It seems like a nice place.. Found this place as a result of a Yelp search. Stopped in with the extended family for dinner. We were greeted at the the door by Ron, who would turn out to be our waiter. Ron was great. He was knowledgable and personable. He was passionate about the food there. He made some great recommendations, which turned out to be excellent. I had the salad with sirloin tips. It was a generous portion, and very tasty. My pops had the meatloaf, and it was enormous (and very good). Everyone at our table really enjoyed the food. The tab for 7 of us was very reasonable (even with the drinks we had). Cardinals game was on the TV. This place is a little classier than a regular sports bar, but not too much so. Pretty enjoyable first experience at Blue Sky. My husband and I went on a Saturday night with another couple who'd been there before and really liked it. The restaurant is basically a big rectangle, divided by a glass wall that makes you see weird colors when you're trying to look at the TV. One half was a bar, one half was the restaurant side. Surprisingly, it wasn't too noisy. The decor was pretty fun, as well. Interesting and colorful art hung on the walls. Our server was very amiable and prompt. Our water glasses were always kept full. We ordered the Fajita Nachos for an appetizer - it was about the smallest plate of nachos I've ever seen. I'm pretty sure there were only about 7 chips in it, although everything else (beef, cheese, etc.) was plentiful. But the food, overall, was pretty cheap, so we didn't make a fuss. I ordered a grilled Buffalo Chicken Wrap, which was quite tasty. There was a TON of buffalo sauce, which was pretty OK with me, since I like a lot of sauce. Their ranch dressing was really tasty, too. I'm not sure how it was different than other restaurants, but it tasted great. The real winner of this meal was the homemade chips. Sooooo divine, and perfect when dipped in ranch. I didn't try anyone's else entrees, but one friend said the Cuban sandwich was really good. My husband deemed his Rueben as "pretty good." Our bill (for the two of us) was about $21, even after tip. Overall, not amazing, but pretty enjoyable. I'd go back. Overall, the place is not bad. I met up with a colleague to discuss a few things and we were here for about an hour and a half. One thing that caught my eye upon walking in was how the bar was divided by the dining area by a high wall, and not a single person was sitting in the dining area, yet the bar area was about 2/3 full. That may be because it appeared as though all of the TVs were in that area and people may have been there for the Blues game. Everything appeared to be neat and clean and since O'Fallon is smoke free, nobody was smoking inside. Also, being at the tail end of Happy Hour, the drinks were reasonably priced for the time we were there. The waitress was prompt and checked on our drinks when they were getting low, but was not interrupting us every two minutes. It's not exactly in my neighborhood, but if I am in the area, I would not mind stopping by at some point in the future. read more

I went with another couple and had chicken alfredo, cobb, salad, and a burger. The burger and fries were really good. The fries came out hot and golden brown. They were better than many other restaurants' fries. The salad portion sizes were gargantuan. The cobb salad looked like it came out in a mixing bowl. The people who ordered the chicken alfredo pasta complained about a lack of taste and not having enough sauce. I ordered an old fashioned which was pretty good. It was strong.
