I found myself stuck at a hotel Salina wondering if there was any food nearby I wouldn't regret later. Surrounded by fast food restaurants I was saved by the Blue Skye Brewery! They offered takeout and I was able to pickup some decent grub. I picked up a 14" Chicken Cantina pizza ($12) with black bean, Cilantro, corn, onion, and tomato. It was your typical chicken + veg pizza but everything went together pretty well. It wasn't mind blowing tasty, but it hit the spot. Let's get to the star of the show, dessert! If Blake Shelton made a dessert love child with a cheesecake, this is what it would taste like. The S'more cheesecake ($5) had a touch of zest mixed with a burnt marshmallows and a classic cheesecake flavor. I know what you're thinking, "no beer?" Love trying different beers and Blue Skye has some really solid craft beers. I've been probably 4 or 5 times and they always have 4 or 5 different beers with varying styles. Food is really good especially the pizza and appetizers. Service was shakey my first visit but it was shortly after it first opened so totally understandable. Been fine every time since. Ambience is excellent. Clean and modern. Being a native Salinan who only makes it back during holidays, I really appreciate the addition of Blue Skye to downtown, food, and bar scene. I am a fan...of the beer. One redeeming quality of this place is the beer. Try the two IPAs on tap....Mugglers and a lighter, more delicate version. Get a beer flight. Their beers are improving since the inception of this restaurant. Not another place in town to get brew on tap like this. Quite enjoyable and always something surprising. The food can be left alone. Sometimes it's not good. It's always too pricey. You can get better at home or at the Paramount. The service is inconsistent. The noise here is unsettling. Bad acoustics. I remember parking and walking up and down the street to see if something would capture my attention and this place did it! I'm very happy to see a brew pub open up in Salina! There is a lot of potential growth in this city for other brewers. The brew pub is located downtown and within walking distance of shops and entertainment. The interior is simple and industrial. They have been open for a little over one month. They had four of their own beers on tap (America Pale Ale, a red beer, a stout, and a vanilla Porter). The Pale Ale was okay but I would have preferred a more hoppy beer. The red was also okay, but not a style I normally drink. The vanilla Porter was too sweet for my taste, but would have been awesome if served at a warmer temp. My biggest beef is that unless a brewer or the owner is on hand, the bar staff & servers were generally clueless as to the products they were selling. I'm sure this will rectify itself the longer they are open. read more

We visited this brewery when we stopped overnight on a road trip. Service was amazing! They are working so hard to make everyone feel safe and welcome. The patio was so welcoming and felt so safe. We visited from Houston on way to Denver. Had the Thai chicken peanut pizza and fish and chips. Both were excellent and would make it in Htown. More importantly the Fire Engine Red was one of the best red ales I've had, comparable to Deschutte's Red Chair, and the guest Kansas Territory lemon shandy perfect for a hot 90 degree day. This town of 50k has a real gem here with Blue Skye. We will make the time for it on future road trips. read more

We had a one night stop over in Salina and asked the desk clerk in our hotel for brew pub suggestions. He said Blue Sky was top on his list so we checked it out. Eight o'clock Saturday night was pretty crowded but we got a table. Nice menu but we went for pizza which was great. And the real reason we went - beer! They have a short list but you should find one you like. We tried their IPA and their Red. Next time we're in Salina we'll definitely go back. read more

We travel through Salina often and decided to try out Blue Skye today. I'm so glad we did! We walked in around noon and the place was packed so we sat at the bar. Cat was our server and she immediately welcomed us. We looked over the menus, my husband tried and ordered a beer. We ordered a chicken bacon ranch pizza, a sausage and pepper pizza, and the A.M. Burger. Everything we had was amazing! In recent memory, I can't think of a pizza I've had that was better! For beer, my husband had the 6th St wheat and the Hugh Heff. He loved them. Been coming to Blue Skye for years, so obviously there are some things that keep me coming back! What We Love: - the pizza - chicken cantina and Thai chicken pizza (with the sriracha on the pizza) are our faves - peanut butter burger - beer - brown eyed girl and ol dirty stout are my picks! - prices of growler fills Disappointments: - no more nachos :( these were my absolute favorite. We tried the totchos which appear to be the exact same thing except with tater tots in place of the chips....wasn't a fan of them. I miss the nachos. - beer variety - while I enjoy their beer, it just seems like they never have any new selections. The peanut burger was delicious with a little kick of spicy. They use pepper jack cheese and sriracha and peanut butter. I highly recommend this burger. Why 2 stars? Service needs adult supervision. Four college age female servers huddle at far end of the bar abiding in cyberspace, looking up to see if anyone might need anything...which will still require patron urging, nothing is preemptive. Moreover, these young girls eat from bags of snacks with their hands, moving directly to serving. They regard no sense of customer peace more worthy than their talking to each other across the room. Very disappointing experience. Nachos were cold and made of weird pita like greasy chips. Margarita pizza had canned flavorless tomato sauce with really crappy cheese- the only thing redeeming was that it was hot. Beer was the most interesting but still underwhelming thing. This is a relatively new place as breweries go. There is a bright beer future here if last night was any indication. The IPA is very good, with body to back up the hops. The seasonal Hugh Heff wheat beer was also a worthy effort. As for food, I had the pizza of the week... Bacon chicken ranch (and added jalapeno). The crust is just about perfect and the toppings are all evenly distributed. I ate the whole damn thing, so no breakfast for me the next day! Service needs a little work here.
