Very disappointing experience. Nachos were cold and made of weird pita like greasy chips. Margarita pizza had canned flavorless tomato sauce with really crappy cheese- the only thing redeeming was that it was hot. Beer was the most interesting but still underwhelming thing. To top it off service was none existent and the staff seemed confused and incompetent. I guess at least it's cheap but you're better off skipping this one. read more

This is a relatively new place as breweries go. There is a bright beer future here if last night was any indication. The IPA is very good, with body to back up the hops. The seasonal Hugh Heff wheat beer was also a worthy effort. As for food, I had the pizza of the week... Bacon chicken ranch (and added jalapeno). The crust is just about perfect and the toppings are all evenly distributed. I ate the whole damn thing, so no breakfast for me the next day! Service needs a little work here. I'm not sure why it was slow, but it was at the bar where I sat and I also overheard people asking for their servers at tables. read more

I ordered a Bloody Mary and thought it was very good; the bacon was also a nice touch! We decided that we had to try the scotch eggs and we sure didn't leave any on the platter.lol. The pizza is delicious, the beer is pretty good, the food is tasty. It's very hard to get a place to sit, and although there is now a hostess station there isn't always a hostess so it is a little bit of a seating free-for-all. The environment is also VERY loud. We would love to go to Blue Skye more often, but the good food and drink isn't worth the hassle of fighting for a table and yelling over the too loud music and televisions to be heard. read more

The hip interior design was surprising. This being our first meal in Kansas we didn't expect design worthy of an affluent college town. It seems like a great place to meet friends for a beer and a bite. The food was underwhelming though. The burger tasted like a food service frozen patty. The crust on the pizza could've been crisper and thinner, true to a wood fired oven experience. If investing in a wood fire oven, restauranteurs should dial in the recipe. They had a large party to serve so perhaps they rushed the process to get our food to the table faster. Service was attentive and friendly. The beer was tasty. My husband has gone to this restaurant twice within the last month because he had business in Salina. First time he brought home leftovers and they were extremely burnt. He said it would have been really good pizza if it hadn't been burnt. He went there again to give them a second chance and received burnt pizza again. He brought home the leftovers because he didn't think it was that burnt and when I went to eat some of it, I flipped it over and found it was all burnt very badly. Contacted the restaurant through messenger and sent pictures along with what had happened. The restaurant read the message but did not reply back. Terrible customer service. They could have answered back and rectified the situation but they chose not to. He had taken an employee out for lunch and paid $35 and received the worst pizza I have ever seen. Do not recommend this restaurant at all. NO CUSTOMER SERVICE WHATSOEVER. SHAME ON THEM. Don't know how they stay open if they serve this kind of food topped off by NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. read more

Very nice find in BFE Kansas! Excellent brews, the IPA was awesome, hoppy without being over the top. I also liked the b-17 blonde and seasonal hugh heff. The pizzas are terrific. We thorough enjoyed a specialty Thai chicken pizza along with a classic pepperoni. The wood-fire brick oven did not disappoint. This is going to be a mainstay stop on our travels between MO and CO (and any other time we roll down I-70). read more

Coworker and I stopped by here for a burger and a beer. I had the stout. It was a good stout. Chocolaty with coffee notes and a good mouthfeel. My coworker had the red. He liked it, and he normally drinks Coors Light. I had the Peanut butter burger because of the reviews on Yelp. It was delicious. Especially with the heat from the aioli. My coworker had the tumbleweed burger. He said it was one of the best burgers he had. The couple alongside of us ordered a pizza. It looked very good. They have a wood fired brick oven to bake the pies in. It had a nice thin crust. I will definitely be stopping in here the next time I'm in the area for business. read more

We drove 40 miles off the hwy to come to this brewery. We had been here before on our travels. We walk in and it says "Seat Yourself". There was 7 tables open and EVERY one was dirty. 2 employees were standing talking to each other. We stood for a couple minutes, then left. How disappointing. read more

Soooooo this place was super chill. It wasn't busy when we walked in, so thankfully the food and service was prompt. We got the dirty double, chicken quesadillas, fish tacos, and Maui burger. The dirty double was literally cheesy bread, wee were kind of expecting cheese sticks like mozzarella sticks but it wasn't bad. Fresh and hip look with an open floor plan. 1 we decided to have some mahi mahi fish tacos and boy they were pretty good. Fresh ingredients, and a light flavor, I would surely order them again. 2. We ordered the veggie pizza with no sundries tomatoes. Growing up in the northeast I consider myself a pizza snob. I can say with full certainty that this was a very delicious pizza. We go to Salina a few times a month to shop and were looking for something other than your run of the mill chain restaurants. We found Blue Skye on Yelp and took a chance, and we are SO glad we did! The food was amazing! We had egg rolls, pizza, the blue burger, and the peanut butter burger! We ordered a flight to try the beer and ended up leaving with several growlers of their beer, which are very reasonably priced! Service was great too! We happened in to Salina on a road trip and found our way to Blue Skye for a beer and late dinner. Beers we tried were excellent and food was also quite good. Staff were especially friendly and gave us a quick tour of the brewery, complete with stainless tanks made at Portland Kettle Works. I'd highly recommend to others. This microbrewery opened 11-20-13. They currently have 5 house brewed beers on tap, of which the pale ale, red ale, stout and wheat beers are my favorites. They also have 5 other taps. Wine and spirits are also available. The food menu features wood fire oven pizza. I had the Sausage & Pepper pizza and it was outstanding, a bit spicy, with excellent complex flavors! I'm extremely disappointed in Blue Skye. We have been coming here a couple of times a month for the last year and it has gone downhill. They've gotten rid of the nachos for some reason even though all the tables around us at dinner tonight tried to order them. The pizza quality has gone way down. The ingredients just aren't as tasty as they used to be. The one redeeming quality is the beer. I love the fire engine red.
