This is a very good microbrewery and pizza place in the heart of downtown Salina. The pizzas there are pretty good I've been there many times and have tried everything from the peanut butter burger to the Thai chicken pizza. The Thai chicken pizza would be the best one that I would suggest for purchasing well here. The variety of beers is pretty extensive it worth a shot. The peanut butter burger is unique but I would not necessarily recommend them. The service was friendly and courteous. read more

On a cross country road trip and we decided on this place for dinner last night. It is open until 10 but indicate they stop taking kitchen orders at 8:45. We arrived at 8:35 and while we had a few minutes to decide the server rushed us to make out selections, which we picked the Greek salad and the andouille pizza. Always on a quest to try every local brewery, Blue Skye surprised us a bit with how tasty their beers are. Each of the beers we tried were good representatives of their styles (two IPAs, a brown ale and their Fire Engine Red ale), although they were out of the stout. Four half pint tasters were just $6, so prices were good also. For food, we shared a wood-fired sausage-pepper pizza that had tasty Italian sausage, smokey bacon and green peppers and added side chop salads with a nice blue cheese dressing. The building was an older, well-maintained place with a typical bar, behind which you could see into the brewery thru glass windows. Four or so televisions were tuned to various sporting events, but it was pretty low key and quiet on this Sunday afternoon. We probably won't make another trip to Salina just to visit Blue Skye, but if we find ourselves in the vicinity again we would definitely stop in for a brew. read more

This place was recommended by our nearby Hotel. It was a jumping atmosphere and the place to be on s Friday night. The two bartenders were very knowledgeable about the beers and gave us some samples. Both beers hit the spot! The food however was just OK. Fish tacos were skimpy, not much fish and didn't need the mayo on top. My husbands fish fry was really fried and the coleslaw was too spicy for him to eat. Maybe we ordered the wrong things. Pizza looked yummy and popular. We enjoyed sitting at the bar and it was a really friendly atmosphere. Not sure if and when we will be driving through again, but we would stop for the beer! We were visiting Salina for a funeral. Arrived about an hour before the funeral was to start so decided to visit Blue Skye again after our great experience here last fall. We ordered the andouille sausage pizza to share. Thin and crispy crust cooked in a wood fired oven. Nice flavors. I wish I could write a description for you, but I don't recall everything that was on it. I recall spinach similar to a pesto sauce. It was really good. The menu is large with varieties of pizza, sandwiches, burgers, salads, and more items to choose from. The restaurant advertises its beer, but I'm not a beer drinker, so I can't tell you anything about that. Our beverage and food order was taken right away. Our pizza was brought to us in less than 15 minutes which was really good because we were on a tight schedule. I wish there was one closer to Topeka. This place is pretty nice downtown location in Salina. They are a microbrew type place. Although I am not much of a beer drinker, I do enjoy their Blonde beer. I have even taken a growler home before. They sell growlers. I come here for their wood fired pizza. It is so good. They have a bunch of odd combos such as the "tex mex pizza" and a few others. I always just get the traditional pepperoni pizza. It is so good. They have other items on their small menu but I am not interested in trying anything else. Very dissatisfied with the quality and portions during brunch. Specifically the chicken and waffles. In the past the order had two waffles and three nice sized chicken strips. Slowly the chicken has become nothing more that chopped up crumbles of perhaps a half of a chicken strip. I will certainly not be returning to purchase 8 dollar chicken crumbles. Hotel was clean and had very modern fixtures and rooms. Employees were kind and helpful. Our only issue was that the towels were missing from the bathroom. Also would have appreciated a Safe bar for shower (a bit slippery). Dispensers for soap, shampoo and cream rinse, but one was unattached from shower wall (and only partially full). Breakfast was great. We added it to the accommodations. Just needed some clarity and info on what was considered part of the breakfast. Front desk was helpful. First off, we didn't go for pizza and beer. Maybe if we had, they would have gotten more stars. We went there because I read they had sandwiches. The sandwiches were mostly the option of getting their burgers with a grilled chicken breast. Our food was okay but not great. I had the crispy chicken jalapeño sandwich. It was supposed to have candied jalapeños on it. It was more of a relish that didn't taste of jalapeños at all. The chicken was very crispy though and the fries were good. My husband had the Greek salad. The feta cheese must have been playing hide and seek as my husband never found any. He was able to add chicken to it for $2.00, and he said he got a fair amount. One thing that bothered me, and it probably shouldn't have, but the staff were behind the bar at one point eating take out from Martinelli's. It just struck me as poor form. I have mixed feelings about our experience here. We were visiting family in this town, and we looked all over the internet for some where to go to brunch. We could find any good options- so we waited to go to this place for lunch. Upon arrival at the time they stayed they opened on their website, we saw that they were already open and serving brunch (which was also not noted on their website). The next thing that was a huge put off was it was open seating. This was an absolute disaster because they were busy with several families and children's sports teams in between games. People were lurking all over the restaurant to beat the next group to an open table, and when you were eating people were hovering over you for you to finish so they could sit down. Once we got a table, we had to stake our claim before it was cleaned, and this resulted in it not being properly cleaned... my chair and area were sticky. Now for the food. The cinnamon roll we ordered as an appetizer was fantastic and super cheap. For my meal I ordered a Cobb salad, and the chicken in it tasted prepackaged or prepared days in advance. How hard is it to cook chicken to order? It was so gross, and the dressing tasted fermented. How hard is it to have good ranch or bleu cheese? Others in my group ordered brunch items and their food looked delicious. I wish I would have ordered the same... So overall, I'd update your website operating hours and the fact you serve brunch. Get a dang hostess and start a waitlist to ensure that guests are seated in the order they arrive and don't disrupt other's dining experience. Stopped in for a lunch break while on a road trip down 81 and was not disappointed. Staff was friendly and the interior was cool and exactly what you would expect from a microbrewery. Since I was on the road, I skipped the beer and went straight for the food- I ordered a margarita pizza with peperoni and it realty hit the spot.
