After calling Electrolux, we were referred to Baldwin Appliance Repair. We were very happy with the ease of making an appointment with them and the repair was done to our satisfaction. We waited and called and texted over the course of three months trying to get an update on "parts" to come in. Really it's shame on me and the rest of you. Tongue in cheek, of course! As somehow you guys and I myself overlooked doing due diligence. I usually spend a few minutes checking the company out prior to even calling them. So, it's my fault...But, I do remember calling Maytag to get 2-3 local repair companies to choose from. Apparently, that was all the research I did. What's strange is the similarities of the stories that also resonates with mine. After Maytag gave me there number (Baldwin Appliance in Silverhill, Al) in the photo you'll see there phone number. I called or texted them and left a message. They called back that day. In hind site I now know this is where the scam happens. My messages was normal (the hook) so they called me back. Set up the appointment and the young kid, maybe 25ish came out and began to fumble around in a clueless manner. I was just causally watching. Then got more intrigued as he just stood there listening on the phone with Maytag tech support because he had no clue what was wrong with the washing machine. Background, I was in the Coast Guard-Electronics technician. I decided to ask a couple of questions because he never used any tools (multimeter) other then a 1/4" head screwdriver to remove the back panel. His answers he gave made no sense. I just continued to watch. So, I'll summarize. He said they needed to order a part. Great! But it's on back order. Ok, approximately how long. I'll check when I get back and notify you. Now, here's the hook line and sinker. They need me to pay for the part and the install now. So, they can order it, etc. And remember I also had to pay $106 for the service call for today. Part is $239 which is BS and the cost to install it is $30. It is a plug in part, literally it will take longer to remove the back panel then to replace the part. Shady companies will invert part and labor cost to make you feel your being treated fair. The Electronic control board (mother board for my model MHW5500FW1) on eBay, partsimple, repairclinic and appliance parts among other sites is available right now for an average $106-$144. A refurbished one from parts simple is $74.12 with a 1 year warranty. On the surface I felt the scam. But, had to give the benefit of the doubt. Because, at the time I had just undergone a total hip replacement and didn't think I should tackle this project at this time. It's hard to believe companies can still operate their scam with so many social media sites at our fingertips.
