The house is technically 4…read morebedrooms and 1 bath, but we only used the upstairs (1K 1Q) - the first floor has two small rooms with a twin in each; the bathroom is upstairs. Highlights: the kitchen is fully (and may I add perfectly) stocked to actually cook dinner in - lobster pots and crackers, pots, pans, knives, everything. They even provide the dish soap and paper towels...something we never get when we travel in the south. There is a washer dryer (again, there is soap) in the basement. Next, there are tons of books, DVDs, an XBox and even toys/books for little ones! Since we were flying this was key. There is also a crib, high chair and stroller. Other rentals up here don't offer that! The deck is great - lots of seating and a nice view of the harbor. They have some adirondack chairs down by the shore and a fire pit. You can walk to the marina (buy lobster from a lobsterman!) or into town in just a few minutes. Oh and there is AC...again many places up here don't have it and you never know if it will be 95 or 75 up here in summer...we've had both! It's about 25- minutes to get into Acadia National Park, which may seem far. But the town of Southwest Harbor is so quaint I'm glad we stayed here.

The room itself is incredibly clean and comfortable. It offers everything you'll need for the perfect getaway. The owners are extremely kind and will give great advice on local restaurants and sites to visit.

But you have to get yourself to Bangor, first. Driving it's two hours from the airport. But it is worth every bit of effort to get there. Leen's Lodge is a gem on the edge pristine clear waters of West Grand Lake in the heart of the northern Maine wilderness. The lodging is rustic - it is cabins on the lake. But they are clean, quaint, and comfortable. The service and food are top-notch. The proprietors, Scott and Kris Weeks, and family, along with a few extra staff provide an experience you won't ever forget. Dinner - 5 stars. The first night I had the most amazing, perfectly seasoned, tender lamb chops with freshly baked homemade bread, wild rice, asparagus, and dessert was local blueberry pie. Other entrees included maple glazed salmon, filet mignon, and fresh Maine lobster. Breakfast - You cannot beat it. Blueberry pancakes with local maple syrup and thickly sliced bacon. My morning order "Wendy, make whatever looks good today." I was never disappointed. But you are not just coming here for the food. It's an epic outdoor experience - the quality of hunting and fishing is among the best in the world. We fished and caught as many big perch as we wanted, plenty of smallmouth bass, and even some land-locked salmon. (I won't mention that my fishing buddy hooked an eel - that did not get in the boat.) Had the time of my life and the owner, Martha is an absolutely talented and amazing chef. I stayed here a week while visiting the most eastern and northern point in the US. During the actual wedding ceremony we all felt as though she was lurking behind trees watching everyone. It was sketchy. Then come to find out she put some bullshit charges on the bride and grooms bill because there was make up on one towel.
