You know when people say that a place is a "vibe"? I think I found what they are talking about. The Bluebird Cafe definitely had an ambience and a mood that felt "vibey" to me. There was acoustic music playing and the decor is vibrant and fun. The menu of made to order breakfast items was modest but covered the main things you'd expect to find at a breakfast place. The quality of the food was lacking, however. Something about paper thin bacon that is heated up in the microwave just doesn't appeal to me. However, if you're just here for a cup of coffee to enjoy while pouring over the daily paper, you'll be perfectly happy here.

The ambiance is the key in this little place- art all around and great help and good food!

Reuben sandwich. It came with a bag of chips, but overall a very small sandwich for the price.

We stopped here to refuel after hiking up to Doc Holladay's gravesite and memorial. My husband and I were both pretty hungry, we needed a lunch spot with vegetarian options, and this was close and quick. Unfortunately, the quality and value weren't there. My husband ordered the Reuben, a special that came with a bag of chips for $16. The sandwich was really small, and since the chip selection wasn't great, he settled for dill pickle. He had a cold brew with caramel syrup that hit the spot, so perhaps beverages are where Bluebird Cafe shines. I chose one of the vegetarian quiches from the case and got a side salad. I do wish the side salad had cheese or a little more than just lettuce, onions, and a tomato. My quiche was good, although I had to scrape some burnt spots off. Neither one of us were satisfied after finishing our meals, but rather than ordering other items, we just decided to try another restaurant for dessert and buy some snacks for the road. Even though the food was so-so and portions were small, our orders were correct and I was glad to support a pro-LGBTQ+ restaurant.

Avocado toast

We are visiting Glenwood Springs from Denver and needed to find a breakfast venue. When we found The Bluebird Cafe we immediately fell in love with its warm ambiance and kind staff. They have a varied menu that caters to a many dietary restrictions. I love that the owner is supportive of the LGBTQ community and felt safe and accepted here. He also promotes the growth of young artists and displays a variety of local artists and it gives a homey relaxing feel. I ordered the lump crab Benedict and my husband had the avocado toast. The food was very fresh and delicious. The toast was thick and had a homemade feel. The potatoes were delicious and the Benedict was flavorful. The hollandaise sauce was lemony but not overpowering. We had amazing coffee drinks at The Bluebird as well. We struggled to find decent coffee in Glenwood but the coffee drinks here are marvelous! The coffee was fresh and they offered so many creative options that we had a hard time deciding. My vanilla oat milk latte was the perfect sweetness and the size was generous. We plan on returning to try more of their menu while visiting. I HIGHLY recommend you visit too.

We stopped here thinking this place was connected to the Blue Bird Cafe in Logan Ut. We learned that it's not. My sandwich costed 12 dollars and it had 3 pieces of bacon and it was super tiny. They ran out of ham and served it to me anyways. I had to return it and get a refund. I ordered I hot cocoa. Which was fine except the kid was busted and it fell all over my shirt. My hubby ordered a turkey sandwich and he did not get a turkey sandwich he got a ham sandwich and they told me he got the last of the ham. Ambiance was a little weird. We will probably never stop and eat in this little town again it's like a wanna be copy cat of Park City.

The owners are rude and power stricken. The food is way over priced and coffee is crap. I don't recommend it in the least.

I am normally a red sauce eater but the green (probably the weak Sendy) was really good. Not spicy but full of flavor. Service was excellent again. 1st visit: I've been in Colorado for nearly two weeks and this has probably been the best meal I've had so far, even after dining in Aspen (Clark's, Aspen Public House) and Boulder (Flagstaff, the Kitchen American Bistro). I love chorizo tacos and the ones here served with potatoes and fried egg with a side of chips and salsa was one of the best I've ever had and I think that's says a lot after living a lifetime in Texas. The hot dog was flavorful and probably a foot long. It was served with lightly salted french fries that reminded me if the ones my mom used to make me. The Bloody Mary was also very good and slightly spicy although it was only garnished with a lime and no olives. The place is very small, seats maybe a couple of dozen indoors but there is also outdoor seating. Service was very friendly.

I'd rather hit up Costco/sams club hot dog. Fresh cut fries are nice. They should be boiling or grilling the dogs.

Sandy was my server and she was great. Attentive without hovering, the kind of service you'd expect at a much fancier place. I decided to move from the bar to a high top when my salad arrived and she immediately jumped in to help me get resettled. Later my napkin slid off my lap and she had a fresh one down before I even reached for it. I ordered the Rocky Mountain Ribeye with fingerling potatoes, green peppercorn sauce, gorgonzola, and braised onions. It came out thinner than I usually like my steak cut, so I was a little skeptical at first, but it was cooked perfectly and very tender. The gorgonzola on top made the dish. The flavors were incredible! The fingerlings were fine but forgettable. Didn't matter -- the steak carried the plate. I also had the side salad, which I almost didn't bother with, but as it turned out, the ranch dressing was scratch-made and they toss in thin-sliced green apple, which really elevated a simple side salad. Can't figure out why this place wasn't busier. Food and service this solid deserve a full room.

Windows give a lot of inside light, decent spacing between tables so you don't feel awkward or squished. We were seated quickly. The host and servers were all nice and checked on us regularly. We started with drinks- my wife had an Irish coffee (strong!) and I had a Bloody Mary; this thing was LOADED with celery, carrot, something pickled, bacon, etc and it was divine. I wish I had taken a picture of the menu because it had some different offerings compared to what is currently on the website so unfortunately, I cannot recall the names of what we ordered but they were both fantastic! Descriptions as follows- My wife had some kind of pork hash with 2 poached eggs and caramelized onions that was melt in your mouth delish! It was a fairly large serving; she ended up saving about half of it for a meal later. I ordered a dish that had caramelized sweet potatoes, spinach, smoked salmon, spinach, mushrooms, poached eggs and an aioli - this was delightfully fresh but also filling. All the "ratios" of ingredients felt perfectly matched. Overall, if I am ever back in this area I will definitely be stopping here again!

The breakfast sandwich and salad were pretty good. After finishing almost all of his plate my husband found a cockroach looking bug under his breakfast potatoes. It was clear the bug wasn't just hanging out on the plate and had been sautéed in with those potatoes. After finding the bug, we all lost our appetite and didn't want to eat anything else from here. The owner (I'm assuming?) did apologize and comped his plate due to the bug discovery. This was a pretty disappointing experience as the pastries on display in the front looked pretty delicious. We had planned on getting a few to go on the way out but didn't trust any more of the food. Sadly won't be returning.
