You know when people say that a place is a "vibe"? I think I found what they are talking about. The Bluebird Cafe definitely had an ambience and a mood that felt "vibey" to me. There was acoustic music playing and the decor is vibrant and fun. The menu of made to order breakfast items was modest but covered the main things you'd expect to find at a breakfast place. The quality of the food was lacking, however. Something about paper thin bacon that is heated up in the microwave just doesn't appeal to me. However, if you're just here for a cup of coffee to enjoy while pouring over the daily paper, you'll be perfectly happy here. read more

We stopped here to refuel after hiking up to Doc Holladay's gravesite and memorial. My husband and I were both pretty hungry, we needed a lunch spot with vegetarian options, and this was close and quick. Unfortunately, the quality and value weren't there. My husband ordered the Reuben, a special that came with a bag of chips for $16. The sandwich was really small, and since the chip selection wasn't great, he settled for dill pickle. He had a cold brew with caramel syrup that hit the spot, so perhaps beverages are where Bluebird Cafe shines. I chose one of the vegetarian quiches from the case and got a side salad. I do wish the side salad had cheese or a little more than just lettuce, onions, and a tomato. My quiche was good, although I had to scrape some burnt spots off. Neither one of us were satisfied after finishing our meals, but rather than ordering other items, we just decided to try another restaurant for dessert and buy some snacks for the road. We are visiting Glenwood Springs from Denver and needed to find a breakfast venue. When we found The Bluebird Cafe we immediately fell in love with its warm ambiance and kind staff. They have a varied menu that caters to a many dietary restrictions. I love that the owner is supportive of the LGBTQ community and felt safe and accepted here. He also promotes the growth of young artists and displays a variety of local artists and it gives a homey relaxing feel. I ordered the lump crab Benedict and my husband had the avocado toast. The food was very fresh and delicious. The toast was thick and had a homemade feel. The potatoes were delicious and the Benedict was flavorful. The hollandaise sauce was lemony but not overpowering. We had amazing coffee drinks at The Bluebird as well. We struggled to find decent coffee in Glenwood but the coffee drinks here are marvelous! The coffee was fresh and they offered so many creative options that we had a hard time deciding. My vanilla oat milk latte was the perfect sweetness and the size was generous. We plan on returning to try more of their menu while visiting. I HIGHLY recommend you visit too. read more

Love the seating and decor. There were tables as well as arm chairs and bars so you have lots to a choose from. We went there for coffee and breakfast while we waited for our train. The coffee was great. As must have been the food but we waited very long for our food. They forgot our orders (and it wasn't busy at all). Sent our order to the wrong table. Sent two of the same dish to us...We had to gobble our food down because a leisurely breakfast became fast food. I didn't have time to enjoy the breakfast and tell you how it really tasted. This spot was super cute. Tucked in on the side of glenwood springs, you walk in and it's a space where you order at the desk. They had artwork from local artists surrounding the walls which I think was super cute. They had coffee and breakfast/lunch choices. We went there at a time where it was kind of between breakfast and lunch so I got lunch. I ordered a sandwhich that had blue cheese on it and I was not disappointed. I love love love blue cheese so it was everything I wanted. A day later we went and just got coffee there and I got vanilla latte. That was super delicious too. It was a literal fever dream experience. Very crowded and tight with very odd and rude patrons. The staff were very polite and working hard for the amount of customers. We got two coffees and a quiche. Were told it would be 15-20 min ended up taking an hour for a very run of the mill coffee and a fleck of quiche. Perhaps its better to go on a day its less busy but if there is a line I would go somewhere else it was simply not worth the wait. read more

We stopped here thinking this place was connected to the Blue Bird Cafe in Logan Ut. We learned that it's not. My sandwich costed 12 dollars and it had 3 pieces of bacon and it was super tiny. They ran out of ham and served it to me anyways. I had to return it and get a refund. I ordered I hot cocoa. Which was fine except the kid was busted and it fell all over my shirt. My hubby ordered a turkey sandwich and he did not get a turkey sandwich he got a ham sandwich and they told me he got the last of the ham. Ambiance was a little weird. Beans crusty and tasteless. Guac brown. The one $ on Yelp is misleading, I spent $28 on this mediocre food and a weird iced latte. There's only about 4 cubes of ice in it and the color is all wrong. I had to wipe all the crumbs off my own table. There's flies everywhere as well and it's not very clean in here. Kinda mad I spent nearly $30 on a handful of chips and some nasty beans. My wife , daughter and I stop in for a quick breakfast . I wanted to get a Veggie Burrito without onions but was told the burritos are pre made and can not have it made to order. With that, my wife and I have a Veggie scramble egg on a bagel . Comes with cream cheese , avacado, and tomato on a plain bagel. Size was good enough for my wife. Too small for me but it tasted good. My daughter had the Avacado toast with a medium cooked egg. She also had an Iced Latte Matcha Almond milk. She liked her breakfast. I would try some other breakfast place if I had my choice. If you want to feel like you just ate at a tourist trap, the Bluebird Cafe will fill your needs. The people are nice, the food is not bad - but not good either. The decor and ambiance is excellent. But when you have to order at the bar, are asked to bus your own table, pay above premium prices for average (at best) food, then they hit you up for a 20/22/or 25% tip option.... I stopped by Bluebird Cafe to grab some breakfast and a lunch snack too. We had a long drive ahead of us and this was the perfect place to stop. While walking in you see a truly beautiful small business. They have art and clothing from what looked like local designers, tons of books and games to enjoy while you're in the cafe. Tons of fun little things to do around this store. Now onto the food - I got two breakfast items. A bagel and a burrito. The bagel was great, hearty and filling with fresh ingredients and really thick cut bacon. The burrito was great too, flavorful and filling as well. I got a turkey sandwich for later and that was also great, the honey mustard spread was delicious. Packed with veggies and made on fresh bread. I also got two muffins were great. Bad for celiacs and bad vibes. I told them I had celiac and ordered a matcha. It tasted full of chemicals... I asked to read the label, and it had wheat and barley in the mix! Now, if this review were only based on the confirmation of the menu - it would be a 5-star establishment . . . there is, however, an X-factor at the Bluebird cafe that takes it to another level. That X-factor? Its the friendliness of the cafe. In my 10-minute visit, I heard the barista interact with customers by their first names on 3 occasions. I also heard customers reciprocate the first name exchange. The obvious connection that customers - and staff - have at the Bluebird is a giant testimony to its 5-star status. Which is fine, but the ambience, menu, and price all suggest a full dining experience which is not offered because they are not properly staffed for that. The resulting experience is uneven, at best. I experienced racial discrimination for the first time from a female cashier at this location. I visited on September 2nd around 9 AM. Not knowing the name of the bread on display, I asked for "cinnamon bread," but the cashier only responded with an annoyed expression, repeatedly saying "What?" in a rude manner. Only after I went to the bread and pointed at it did she finally say, "Oh, cinnamon roll." I then tried to order an iced latte, but she claimed they were out of ice, despite the store being open for less than two hours. While it's possible that this was just bad luck or a misunderstanding due to my pronunciation, what upset me the most was the cashier's attitude. She never once said "sorry," didn't smile, and her tone was rude and dismissive throughout the entire interaction. Her behavior made me feel very uncomfortable, and thanks to this experience, I no longer wish to visit Colorado. I hope this issue is addressed. read more
