Bonfire is a solid coffee shop- located in the heart of the downtown area of Carbondale. They offer MANY breakfast/lunch options including a pleasant dark roasted espresso. I appreciate the variation in gluten free options, both healthy and flavorful. Staff were pleasant, straight to the point and helpful. All while managing wait time excellently. We visited Carbondale and the Glenwood Springs area recently & I wasn't overly excited about our coffee shop options. I'm very thankful we checked this one out as it was a wonderful experience and we went here twice over our 6-day stay. Our first impression was seeing so many items on their menu that were organic/higher quality/all natural. My wife doesn't eat processed sugar so this was a great fit for us. They also locally roast their beans which is something we look for. Our first day consisted of coffee only. My wife got a honey latte which was heavy on honey and delicious. She would recommend it and get it again. I got a caramel lattee which was just ok since it was from a pre-made syrup which I don't normally care for. They don't use Monin though which is a win in my book! The 2nd day was coffee and food. I got a cobb salad which was excellent. I added Kalamata olives and the lemon oregano vin was delicious. Super fresh greens, clean food. It was perfect after our hike! My wife got a veggie sandwich and raved about it. Bread was well toasted and not soggy plus a lot of flavor. I also took her hummus and added it to my salad which was a wonderful decision. The biggest reason for our review was their customer service. They were very friendly, patient, and made us feel welcome. Would definitely recommend stopping in! read more

My wife and I were on the road and looking for a good cup of coffee, some wifi and breakfast. Bonfire came up as an option on Yelp so we decided to give it a try. What a cool spot. They have local art for sale in the front and a bunch of pastries, and baked goods. The donuts looked great but I forgot to get one this time. I ordered a pour over (light roast) and had the pox bagel on a poppy bagel. The coffee was great and the bagel was more of a sandwich than what I would normally expect if I ordered any kind of bagel with lox. There was a heaping of chopped lettuce in it which really lightened up the meal. That was perfect because it was second breakfast for me. My wife had an omelet that was delicious. I think it was ham and tomato? It was super fluffy and had avocado on top. It also came with a slice of buttered wheat toast. I love toast. The staff was very friendly and seemed to all love their jobs. It's nice when you see that. I really dug the space with their benches and the contraption in the back that I couldn't tell what it was. They have fast wifi and ample power on whips along the bench. It seemed there were a ton of locals and everyone in the place seemed to know the guy sitting next to us. A good sign! I'll come back here again when I swing through Carbondale. I'm always looking for a good breakfast and coffee spot. read more

Two stars for the breakfast sandwich which was just ok. It didn't help that the temperature in the seating area in the back had to have been in the 50s. Stopped here on my way to to Denver. I wanted to support the local coffee shops. This place had a huge line, the latte was great but I also ordered the farm grilled cheese. I was so dissatisfied as it had one slice of cheese that was barely melted but had too much greens. It didn't taste good. See picture, it was mostly a spinach sandwich and was far from a grilled cheese. Bread that was used was good. The coffee shop was packed, so assuming it's a good spot, so I recommend it still. read more

I went to Bonfire twice while we were visiting Carbondale. Loved the Golden Hot Latte. My husband had the bagel with smoked salmon. He loved and it was filling. The place was busy but the staff was quick getting food and drink out to us. I usually waver between an iced latte and a good cup of black coffee. This was one of those days I went with the latte. It felt like the ratio was off because I tasted mostly milk (and it looked like mostly milk) so the coffee taste was completely lost. I would be curious to know how good their regular coffee is as it seems people really like it. Ate here for the first time during "Ride the Rockies". Holy smokes, I had a great latte AND a great breakfast sandwich - much better than the boring event food. The line was long and the wait made my stomach grumble, but it was worth it. The latte and food was like rocket fuel. Seating is limited to two tables outside, otherwise there are some park benches around the corner, which is what we opted for.
