My family and I had a wonderful stay in the Seaward Cottage. We arrived later in the evening 7/4 and departed 7/6 mid morning. When we arrived the receptionist was so nice. She offered many tips and made sure we were all set. In the morning on the 5th we grabbed some coffee inside the reception area. We toured the gift store and checked out the restaurant menu. We needed a couple extra bath towels and the gentleman behind the reception counter was very helpful and accommodating. Our cottage was the perfect size for the five of us. We even made one bathroom work n with no issues. The bathroom is actually a pretty good size. The bathroom could definitely use some hooks throughout to hang towels and maybe wet bathing suits, etc. Especially since this is geared for a party of 6. We had no problem with hot water. The living room set up is also a decent size with a working fireplace and a table and chairs in the corner. The kitchenette is tiny but packs a lot in there. The beds were extremely comfortable and the linens were clean and soft. The porch was so inviting. We sat outside numerous times and enjoyed it. The WiFi worked great, no issues. We used the pool one evening and that was perfect after a day of walking. Towels are provided and the pool is heated but not super warm. We had no problem swimming in it. I like that the pool will be open slightly later 830/9 depending on dusk time. Only complaint is how fast some cars go out front in the property. My concern is there is many people in that area on and off during the day including children. But, that is no fault to them. Maybe speed bumps to help slow people down? Overall this is a great location with beautiful views. read more

Such a disappointment, nothing like the pictures - the location is terrible - look over power lines to the water - lacks basic amenities in the rooms, no coffee maker, etc - although part of Hyatt (Mr & Mrs Smith) - no benefits. We left a day early - hotel said they would refund points and then recanted when Hyatt called. We would never stay here again and would not recommend this property. So many better coastal locations nearby. read more

Locks on doors are rickety and definitely don't feel safe Coffee in the room is hideous You can hear guests in the room above us and all they are doing is walking. Recently spent a few nights at Bluebird Ocean Point, and at nearly $500/night we had some higher expectations that they didn't really deliver on. We still had a fun time and enjoyed ourselves, but given there's a resort fee and the expense of the rooms we expected a little bit better. That being said, we wouldn't turn down staying here again in the future if we really wanted to come back to the Boothbay area. It's nestled in a cute corner of Ocean Point, with a bustling little rural neighborhood surrounding it. It feels old school in a delightfully quaint way. Staff was friendly and welcoming both at the front desk, and at the restaurant. The restaurant staff is actually a hoot, and we really enjoyed dining at the restaurant instead of heading into town for dinner. It's got a lot of outdoor space to hang out - Adirondack chairs and picnic tables along the water. Great place to settle down with or without a beverage and read or just enjoy the scenery. The room we stayed in was fine, though it was insanely humid and bordering on wet in the room. Turning OFF the air conditioning actually dried things out a bit, so that was odd. And please be aware, I'm from Maine originally. I am no stranger to humidity - but it was significantly more humid inside the room than it was outside. So we informed the desk that there might be an issue with the A/C. Our ocean-view room was indeed ocean-view but did look across the road and a parking lot before you could see the ocean. The patios aren't super private, but all the guests we encountered were very wonderful and friendly so that wasn't a knock. Overall it's just expensive for what it is, but it's still a good time. The value might not quite be there but it's a really lovely experience with some wonderful people. read more

I have reviewed this place before and I gave it 4 stars. I need to now downgrade based on my recent experience. Since it got taken over by new management, it has lost some of its coastal New England charm. If I were just reviewing the on-site staff, excluding the chef, I would give this another 4 stars. At the front desk, Liam, Sandra, Reagan, and Owen really want everyone to have a nice time, they are super friendly and responsive to everything. The room staff is also very attentive to requests at odd times. And the bartender makes a good drink. The rooms themselves were meh. The new owners made a lot of cosmetic upgrades but not much more. For example, someone went on Wayfair and bought a bunch of furniture. They also designed a shower without a door so the bathroom floor floods. Our room, the Dory cabin, has a sloping bedroom. So cosmetic is nice but structural would have added value to our stay. The toilet paper holder was hanging by a thread, and the hot water heater should have had a high lock on it so kids would not get into that closet. Not that it worked for more than a shower and a half. We lost hot water every day. And speaking of closets, there isn't one. Nor was there a dresser in the room. I'm not asking for much, just something more than an open bar with hangers. They've also taken away the free breakfast with items such as blueberry pancakes made with local Maine blueberries. Now you get a Costco-themed continental breakfast on a table with packaged salmon and store bought muffins. And they charge $15 per person. They also charge a resort fee now, which I just think is obnoxious. Not as obnoxious as the chef who refused to substitute broccolini for truffle potatoes and blamed it on needing to cover costs. Overall we were disappointed and I'm sorry I have to write this review. Hopefully the new owner will change course and not think he's some fancy destination with a Michelin star restaurant. read more

Clean room, nice staff, beautiful views--but not a good value. At close to $400/night I expected better. I paid for a premium oceanfront view. My porch/deck was not very private, and the first floor rooms are noisy if there's a family above you, as there was when we were there last week. The coffee supplied in my room expired in December 2023. There are no facecloths other than the color black. Have you ever had a black washcloth at a hotel? I haven't. Usually means they are hiding something gross. The housekeeping staff was very. nice and tried to help, but there is little they could do to overcome bad hotel management. We went for pub night and sat at the bar. Donovan was amazing. His charm, fast service and one heck of a bartender! The kitchen was quick and really wonderful prep. The hummus, Pita and veg were fresh and a great started. The fish tacos were huge and the haddock was outstanding. There were so many grilled shrimp on the garden salad, it was overwhelming!!!. Each one done to perfection. Great grill and definitely fresh. I have to rave about Donovan's cosmopolitan. It was perfectly prepared. Oh and did I mention the view! Nothing prettier than Ocean Point. We even got to see the fog roll in. Just a perfect evening! read more

I had reserved a room in the farmhouse (motel) section of this property for 2 nights through a travelzoo offer that included a rate of $99 per night for the weekend, a $25 dining discount and a few other offers that we did not use. The exterior was not overly impressive nor had the interior been remodeled in a number of years, but it was clean and served our purposes. The entire property is beautifully situated on the water and immediate area along Shore Road offers stunning views of lighthouses, offshore islands and anchored boats. I would not hesitate to return to this resort. We had dinner in the dining room our first evening and thought it was a pretty good value given our $25 discount. Otherwise, I think you would be better off dining at one of the restaurants in Boothbay Harbor. Included in our room rate was a continental breakfast which we could have upgraded to the breakfast buffet for $7. I checked out the buffet and decided to just grin and bear the continental. As it turned out, the continental was pretty sad. No fresh fruit, stale muffins and not much else. We settled on orange juice, coffee and toast. read more

Absolutely stunning sunset spot in East Boothbay, well worth the drive from town for a bite and the view. Service was good, friendly and reasonably attentive. We sat outside on picnic tables across the street during the covid summer which is new for them. We love our light meal consisting of.... Mango salad. Perfect blend of greens w/ mango and a very tasty vinaigrette. Strong recommend. Crab cake appetizer. Good but not enough larger crab pieces, a little mushy. Good spicy dip mayo based sauce. OPI Lobster Stew. Honestly, it's a more of a thin bisque which is actually a good thing. Very tasty without being overly creamy or heavy. Loaded with big chunks of fresh lobster. Delicious and a must have. Check this place out. Arrive in summer at 6pm, sit outside and enjoy the perfect Maine sunset over cocktails and excellent, unassuming foods! read more

Great view and location. Very quiet, beautiful view of the ocean/harbor. The people are kind and helpful. We stayed in one of the more economical rooms for around $100/night. We stayed 3 nights. We were looking to unwind so this place is perfect It was very cute, clean and roomy. A little outdated on the furnishings but it was very clean and pleasant. This place has more of a historic inn feel about it. If you want new furnishings and fine china at the inn's reasturant, this May disappoint you. The reasturant connected to the inn serves a fabulous buffet style breakfast. Dinners are above average but not the best available but again it is very good food and the waitstaff is super friendly and attentive. I would definitely stay here again read more

Has lost several steps in last couple years. I'm sure they are blaming pandemic. No housekeeping service during our 3 day stay. I had to send an email and wait til next day for response. Carpets filthy, bath crusty with peeling paint/wallpaper. DR prices sky high. Messages sent before our stay were ignored as I asked for a special anniversary treat for our dinner-- nada. It was not a nice experience at all. The room was supposed to be a sea view, it was not. Also, the room has window AC units that you could not sleep while it's on because they are so noisy. They did not allow us to check in till 4 pm. When we want to check out the latest, they gave us is 11:00 AM. Even though I spoke with the manager, she said we are fully booked, and we can't give you more than 11:30. During my stay I need to ask questions. I called the front desk (reception) and there was no one picking up the phone at 5 PM. Instead answering machine service answered me. Also, it was way overpriced. Never again. read more

We stayed at the Ocean Point Inn in the past and always make a point of staying at this location when we visit Maine. Talk about unexpected! If the makers of the classic movie "Dirty Dancing" needed to re-shoot some film... they could bring their production crews to this inn right now and simply start filming. Blast from the past, retro kind of place. You drive and drive and drive out the peninsula to get to the Boothbay area, then to reach the inn you drive down another rural highway, turning onto a smaller rural road, then carefully curving through an unusual rural residential grouping until the road ends into the water and the inn is to your right. Old school from the get-go, hubby and I at age 47 and 49 where the youngest people we saw there in late June. Beautiful, jaw dropping setting... you are literally very near the eastern most point of land in the lower 48 - and the fabulous sunsets and sunrises that go with such. You check in with the quaint folks who work there, and are given a map to go find your room. Thee are multiple buildings, each with a name, and some private cottages, too. One interesting lesson with this trip.. while traveling the coast of Maine, you are going to encounter lots of lodging establishments that are multi level and do NOT have elevators. Really wishing I had brought less stuff, or at least lighter smaller bags, but thank goodness my husband is awesome. Other interesting point is this inn like many other businesses is not year round. They pretty much operate April - October, which might explain why renovations don't happen. Our room was large, and had a beautiful view where we were directly on top of the office where you checked in of the main house. It was sadly lacking in updates, however, with a very dated country décor from late '80s early '90s is my guess. The bathroom was small, and one of those where you had to shut the door to turn around in there, I really hate that in a hotel, with fair water pressure that wasn't very consistent on temperature. Our rate was only $125, and when you factor in the setting... I'd say that was still a good deal despite the shortcomings. One surprising plus that you wouldn't normally even think about is the room had two luggage stands, that was helpful. Adirondack chairs line the sea walls where you can go and sit and enjoy the sunset in peace. Several folks staying in some of the other buildings were doing so on their porches, etc. as well - it is a very tranquil place. Your stay includes a continental breakfast buffet that you can upgrade to the full buffet (in an adjacent room) for only $8 each - nice to have options. We did also have a light dinner (Margherita Pizza, $10 and a cheeseburger, $11 - we had enjoyed enough lobster by this point in our trip) in their dining room after we checked in and had relaxed a while... it was fine. They had a special deep dish raspberry pie ($6) that with ice cream was really exceptional, I will say. The biggest selling point is of course the fact that it's there, and you don't have to drive the 20+ minutes back to civilization. read more

The cheery seaside decor and landscape full of colorful flowers was matched by a friendly check-in clerk who happily welcomed us for a one night stay. The sunset over the harbor was gorgeous and included well placed adirondack chairs for up close viewing. From our second floor ocean front balcony we had the full Maine experience of seeing early morning lobstermen pulling up their pots and then watching the fog roll in. Perfectly peaceful! We ate outside this evening. Some of our meals were cold and others slightly warm. The swordfish dinner included a very small cold piece of swordfish, fingerling potatoes that tasted so, so, and broccoli that was ice cold. This meal was not worth 28.00. The bill had an error on it. The server was pleasant and worked hard to serve us. Our overall food quality was disappointing. We would not recommend this restaurant. read more

Had a great time! This is the most relaxing place I've been to in a long time. Spent a week and enjoyed every bit of it. Stayed in one of the lodges that reminded me of the motor lodges of the 1970's, and I mean that in a good way. Very friendly staff, on site restaurant was delicious, beautiful views. If you're looking for a modern 5 star hotel with all of the amenities, this is not the place..but if you want a clean, comfortable place with great people and great views, this is it. I was debating on 4 or 5 stars and was going to go with 4 (no on site laundry), but our restaurant waitress (CeCe) was so cool, I couldn't do anything less than 5 stars and have a clear conscience. read more

Ok, I can't believe it's been seven years since my last review of this place. What's been missing is a sunset picture, so here it is. We've been coming here for probably 15 years, so I guess we're biased. If you're looking for five star meals, terry cloth robes, and mattresses that Scott Pruitt would ask his AA to look into buying, go somewhere else. If you're looking for quintessential Maine coast, book here. Thirty or forty units, all with ocean views. Lobstermen pulling traps almost all day, swim (if you're a penguin), paddle your kayak, or just watch the tide come in and out. Only thing, don't book 4th of July week because I don't need any competition. They now offer a FULL breakfast buffet, not the typical Hampton Inn one, but real breakfast. Dinner is very good. Go somewhere else for lunch, but BYOB to the seawall for afternoon of ocean watching. You see, big chain hotels can't build this close to the coast. Ocean Point is a one of a kind. Visit. read more

I've never stayed here, but I go the restaurant regularly when I stay in Bootbay Harbor for vacation durning the month of July. I've been here at least 20 times. First of all, Ocean Point has got to be one of the most beautiful places on earth. The views from the restaurant are really amazing. It's a very romantic place to visit with your loved one. I find the food to be really good. I particularly love the lobster stew. It's very expensive, but it is awesome and almost always filled with lobster. Surprisingly, even their shrimp cocktail is good. I've been to much fancier and more expensive restaurants, but I've never had a better shrimp cocktail. The mussels are great, and the salads are solid. If you're from out of town and you'd like to try lobster, you can't really go wrong with their "lazy lobster." It's really awesome and a great treat. The service here is mixed. For some reason, many of the restaurants in the area need to hire people from other countries, at least during the summer months (I wonder where the heck all the locals are?). Often, these folks are pretty weak as servers, but not always. Overall, this is a great place. If the service were more consistent, I'd give it five stars. read more

Ocean Point is very tranquil. A bit off the main road but that's why it's so nice. The inn is nothing extravagant, but very relaxing. Beautiful views of the harbor. Great place to walk around the shoreline or take a walk on the dock across the street. There is also a pool. The owners recognize returning customers. Moderate rooms with cable TV. Also cottages you can rent if you have a large group. The restaurant is nice but skip the breakfast. It's way over priced and not that good. Have been coming here for 3 decades. However I won't spend money in Maine in 2010 after Prop 1. Somehow Maine's libertarianism only applies to straight white people, not minorities. read more

Stayed here this past weekend, and well ahhhh. Very peaceful & tranquil. We stayed in a 2nd floor suite, with amazing views. The rooms furniture are more up to date then their wallpapered walls. Tear that down and paint the room, will help make the room look less worn down. Bathroom could use a remodel too! King size bed was very comfortable, I slept through the night, which doesn't typically happen when I'm not at home. Their is a restaurant/tavern onsite, food is really good, except the breakfast is not worth 16 a person, go offsite for that. the hostess we had was very accommodating, and helpful. I wish I could remember her name, as I'd give a shout out to her! Overall, was worth the stay here, I hope to visit each year!! read more

We arrived to the restaurant and went to the hostess to be seated. We said good evening, but the girl who was working there didn't even turn around to look at us. She was pretending she's busy with something. Her colleague (a waiter I suppose) told her that two gentlemen are waiting for her, but she ignored the information and continued to ignore us. Instead she started to call her colleague "a jerk" so loudly, that everyone could hear it. After really long five minutes or so she turned around, so we said again: good evening, we would like to have a table for two. She didn't say anything nor even looked at us. After another two minutes waiting we decided to leave. I must say I don't remember if I've ever experienced such a terrible service anywhere. It was so insulting. This girl shouldn't work here, but in my opinion it is also managers' fault they allow situations like that to happen. Luckily there are so many other restaurants in the area and new are coming every year. Nice sunset view is not enough. Especially when you can not even get a table and eat there. Avoid this place. For sure I won't ever come back there again. read more

My family booked a room here for a wedding. They had to cancel 8 days prior to their stay due to a medical emergency (and subsequent death). I can understand that a refund may not have been possible, but they were not even allowed a credit. Don't expect this establishment to be understanding of any emergencies (including death) - even 8 days before your reservation. read more
