Just Making a reservation was a major accomplishment because you can't book it online and you have to leave a message and hope they call you back. Rooms are fine but basically an old motel with a new coat of paint and some new furniture. Linens are nice. No iron in the room and impossible to get one from staff because no one answers the phone at the front desk or housekeeping. Front desk not staffed except 8:00 am until 10:00 pm. If you get locked out of your room it's pretty cold in your car. Only hotel I've ever stayed where there was no iron. read more

Very nice views but the beds are really uncomfortable. You fall into them. They have very soft toppers on them. The restaurant: the clam chowder is bacon chowder. Very salty and much more bacon than clams. Lots of spices. read more

We spent a long weekend at this hotel, which was recommended by family. We loved the footbridge that is so close to the hotel -- we didn't have to use our vehicle to get to anything! We did not have a water view in our Standard King room, but enjoyed sitting out on the little patio that our room had and "people watching" in the evening. The view from our patio was the walkway which led to the restaurant. The bathroom in our room was tiny and only had just enough room for a toilet and shower, and our bathroom door didn't shut, but oh well! Very friendly staff! We would definitely stay here again -- hopefully next time we will have enough time to use their kayaks and paddle boards! read more

If you are coming to nNew England to play golf, put Boothbay Harbor Golf Course on you list of must plays. The course is difficult , but the rest in is perfect. I have played here several times and it never ceases to amaze me. The flowers , waterfalls,perfect fairways,tees and greens are worth the effort for the golf. The greens are perfect, slick but perfect , you would probably get used to them, after a season of play. If you're coming to Maine for golf this is a must! read more

This hotel is NOT a resort. We checked in for two nights. Hotel reception was not friendly or welcoming. Valet was no where to be found. Our room overlooked a parking lot - Bay was no where in sight. Hotel room was up rickety stairs w no elevator (so not Ada compliant). There was no place other than the bar and restaurant to actually see the Bay. The night we went to dinner there they were having an event (microphone was so loud that it made it hard to talk to one another). Ordered two soups and two cocktails - bill was $81 with tip. When we checked out I told the reception how disappointed we were - got the feeling it wasn't the first time she'd heard the complaint. For almost $300 per night this resort felt more like a motel 8. Probably more a 2.5 Rooms here are pretty basic. Clean and such so I can't be a total hater. Although this place is right on the water most rooms don't have a view... Pretty odd. Staff was all pretty cold. No humor, no interest in wanting to provide much more than basic service... It is about 50 degrees out and I'm from California. My room only has a sheet. So called down to front desk, no we can't bring you a blanket, no you can't get one from us!!! What? Turns out the front desk doesn't have a key to the closet, ok fine... At least the heater works. Basically everything in this town closes at 8. They are 1mile from the closest gas station. At a minimum they should have some basics to buy in at the front desk, nothing. The restaurant is pretty decent on the food side. But slow as can be. Also the only seating was an outdoor patio that was freezing. The manager turned on the heater. We looked and never found a heater. It never got warm. This place has potential but felt like it was due a Gordon Ramsey makeover... read more

Wow, this place is terrible. Where to start....we are at the oceanside location. Fyi, the pool, fitness center and golf course are 10 minutes away at the upscale property. When you check in, they don't mention this. They also don't tell you that the rooms are not serviced during your stay unless you ask. If you don't have a reservation for the restaurant, they will not seat you no matter how many tables are open. The bar may also refuse to seat you. The views are nice, the rooms are not. The front desk staff, concierge and staff are rude. There is no customer service. This is not an upscale hotel and they work hard to make sure you know that. We visit Bar Harbor every year and thought we would try this hotel. Never again. In a town packed with amazing places to stay, this isn't one of them. Go anywhere else, really, anywhere is better than here. read more

On a whim I decided to grab my kids and go on a shirt adventure before school begins next week. The Rocktide had decent reviews but it's draw was it's location being situated in Boothbay Harbor....somewhere I had never before visited. The staff are fantastic....always warm and friendly. Not a single exception. The room, although smallish was clean (save for the two generic Cheerios that were on the floor in the bathroom). The room also didn't get serviced in Thursday of our stay but that may have been b/c of our own schedule as well. I've straightened a few beds (!) so no harm. Here's the advice piece: when booking ask if the room is highly traffic'd and/or on the first floor. We checked in on Wednesday and it was wonderfully civilized both during the day and at night. Friday night it was horrid. Late nighters returning from town and speaking in very un-indoor voices... So room location is key. Breakfast comes w the room and is superlative. That alone should be reviewed! The walk to town is just inured over the neat footbridge and the town easily accessible in every way.... Except for those with difficulties walking. Lots of stairs and inclines. The complimentary trolley helps a bit in that regard. We'll be back....but will def steer clear of holidays. PS: the puzzles in the enormous and comfy library are addictive! read more

I use to come here every year for 15+ years when it was the Rocktide. I use to stay in the corner suite. My first time here as BHOGR. We downgraded our room to the Superior King room. Which happened to be more money than what we use to spend at the Rocktide for the suite. We didn't have room service unless you requested It. I'll assume because of COVID. However, service was available at the restaurant (My review listed under Coastal Prime). I had to minus two stars for the following reasons: -Trouble getting into our room every night with the magnetic card. (We did inform the front desk when we first arrived) -Ran out of toilet paper (No room service as stated above) -Had to replace the batteries for the TV remote (Front desk) -High cost for the rooms now. Breakfast also use to be included at the Rocktide. -GFI outlet switch in the bathroom kept tripping. For the prices they charge, I shouldn't have to ask for any of the above! Otherwise, great views! Great outside deck. Staff was friendly & accommodating when needed. read more

Staff is super nice and helpful. Otherwise, the bathroom was dirty, hair in the sink, a clump of hair in the toilet and the floor and counter were just speckled with dirt and hair. The bathtub also had wad of hair stuck to the wall and black specks in it. The bed was very uncomfortable and both my husband and I woke up with back aches. The place is just outdated and needs a facelift. Great location though as it's right over the footbridge. read more

I've grown up going to the Rocktide, my great-grandmother worked here making oatmeal and overseeing the breakfast buffet forever! Friends would come visit and stay here so we'd get to swim in the pool, we'd ride the trolly to the aquarium and now we spend most of our weekend happy hours on the sea deck! I live in Boston but am in BBH most weekends from April-October. Happy Hour! We've come here for happy hour enough over the past few years that the server sees us and brings our drinks right out, which makes us feel special and happy :) Amazing view, comfortable seats, cheap drinks and the snacks are great. If it is rainy or cold, the inside Tiki bar is 50s awesomeness. They usually only have one server cover all of the outside and maybe the bar too so if it's crowded, service may be a little slow. We usually drive and use the free valet but we've sailed over a couple of times, you can tie up on their dock. It's usually just my sisters and me but occasionally our parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins come join us! It's a really nice spot for a get together and cheap enough that one of our parents or uncles will pick up the tab ;) The dining room atmosphere feels cozy, lots of dark wood balanced by big windows with views of the harbor and models of boats and trains scattered around. Breakfast Buffet: cheap and regular Dinner: I've enjoyed most dinners I've had here. Good wine list, awesome chowders, prime rib, haddock...etc. The last two times our servers did not present the wine correctly but were great otherwise. Dessert: Their key lime pie is the best I've ever had anywhere ever in the universe. Unfortunately this year they made a few changes we're not thrilled about. First they took down the awesome 50's bubble letter signage and put up cheesy 80s signage, it's just awful. One of these signs advertises the sea deck but, in doing so, it blocks the view of the water through the railing on the sea deck. Luckily there is still plenty of water to see. I understand wanting to change things up but if you're going to do it, don't change it to something ugly. Then they fired some really great people who've worked there forever :( Also, the new live steel drum music at happy hour is annoying. I still love this place for the location and all the points I made above but I don't see us coming here as much in the future. read more

We have been coming to Boothbay Harbor for probably 30 years. This is the nicest restaurant by far in town. The new owners I renovated not only the hotel but the restaurant do a five star product. Prices are extremely reasonable for what you get the new general manager Landon Flynn. Has done an outstanding job at turning a very tired restaurant and hotel into the nicest and classiest one in the entire region. The value for what you get is amazing. I used to own a restaurant chain in the San Diego area and I know value period we will continue to come back to this place for many years to come. We cannot recommend it highly enough. read more

Extensive menu and good food. We started out in the outdoor cocktail bar/deck for drinks and apps. Great view of the harbor! Moved indoors for dinner with five adults and four kids. Everyone had a great meal; standard fair on the kids menu, and good deal of choices for the adults. The sea scalops were nicely prepared and the Champagne lobster was tasty. Our service was prompt, friendly, and professional. You can tell the place is well managed with a focus on service. We'll definately be going back next time we're in the area. read more

Stopped over for the night to check out the town of Booth Bay. The room was adequate but no fridge. Carpets wasn't the cleanest, sink in the bathroom was awfully low, set up for children, also there was no place to hang up clothes. Now onto the breakfast (included in the rate), it was fantastic. The restaurant was classy, have two staffs making omelettes, everything was good except the corn beef hash, it tasted a little sour. I was also disappointing to see tip jars placing in the restaurants, guess not enough people leaving tips. I have not doubt this is a town full of tourists or people who own boats. It felt a little snobby. Didn't feel the same warmth as we have experienced in Bar Harbor. Not recommended for young couples or families with babies. read more

My wife and I stayed here and spent her birthday evening here. We got here early afternoon in October and the weather was fantastic. This place used to be called the Rocktide, but was renovated about 2 years ago. It looks fantastic, and we spent all afternoon into the evening on the patio/deck overlooking the water. We sat by the fire pits and had margaritas and tacos for their Taco Tuesday. The steak tacos were very good and margaritas were pretty good as well. We decided to stay around for dinner and we shared the Wild Maine Risotto w/ Lobster & butternut squash and a seasonal salad that had acorn squash and some fresh fruit. The risotto had very good consistency but did lack some flavor. The lobster on top helped make up for that somewhat. The seasonal salad was very good and just the right amount. Best of all they were able to accommodate my gluten allergy for the breakfast and dinner we had. Overall we really enjoyed the experience and will be back! read more

"Poor quality hotel for the money" This hotel has a nice view from the restaurant/bar and some rooms. The standard room has NO view and is tucked away by the road. Our room was in the main building so we had access to the veranda that overlooks the harbor. The room itself--- purely generic room. Motel 6 has it beat. The bathroom door sticks, the bathroom sink cupboard won't close, the furniture is non-descript. The main dining area and bar area are nice overlooking the harbor. Those rooms are in direct contradiction to the quality of the rooms. lounge is very nicely done. The dining room is very nice and serves a nice dinner and a hot breakfast. We booked this hotel on a whim and we're so happy we did. The location of this hotel is superb; right along the water, but a very short walk to the Main Street area in booth bay harbor. As others have mentioned, the standard King room does not have a view, but the harbor view room is not too much more and is worth the money. We are in the bar area two of the nights and really enjoyed the atmosphere, especially on the second night with the outdoor deck and fire pits. read more

Stayed at the Rocktide for my boyfriends cousins wedding. The staff was awesome and so was our room! We were able to fit 7 people comfortably and the room even had a kureg! Our view of the harbor was amazing and the restaurant was nice as well. I would definitely recommend the hotel if you are staying in Boothbay! It's right in the center of town with easy access to the bars and restaurant as well! read more

What a fabulous find! We just stumbled across the hotel while searching for somewhere to stay in Boothbay Harbor. Turns out this hotel just underwent a $9 million complete redo and is absolutely fabulous. They didn't miss a beat. Such attention to detail. From checking in and having the very well dressed clerk walk us to our room, which I have never had before, to the exquisite bedding, monogrammed plush towels, etc etc etc. We had a private powerboat tour on their 37' Hinckley motor yacht with Craig, who was a great tour guide along with Addy, who served us drinks and snacks while on board. A first class experience. We did not want to leave the hotel after two nights there. The owners have done a great job. We can't wait to go back! read more

The rooms were nicely refurbished. Very clean. Service at Coastal Prime was good but the waiters were stretched thin. Slow to get food and long waits between courses. Food was good. Expensive. I had blue fin tuna and wife had pasta w lobster and cream sauce . She really liked the pasta and tuna was cooked perfectly. The staff seemed distracted with the owner parking his new yacht right in front of the outside dining area and bringing in a large group to dine. Quite a production When selecting room, be sure to check the location and view advertised. The pictures on website are not accurate.we paid up for water view suite and had an obstructed view. The balcony shown in website picture shows sliding glass door with balcony. There was no sliding door and the balcony was a 4 foot walkway that you have to move your chair when a guest or staff walks by. I left my name at front desk for Landen the manager to call me. Staff said they have had similar complaints. He never called. I ran in to him 3 days later at front desk and while I explained he cut me off and said it was one of their most popular rooms and had never heard any like this before. Turned his back on me and started working w someone else. Not what the other staff had said. Very rude and not the customer service I would expect when I paid 330 a night plus tax for a room. Aside from Landon, the staff was great. Friendly and helpful. We liked the location and taking the footbridge across to the small village was great. Awesome little village w shops and restaurants. Good location. We might prefer the other side of the harbor since the setting sun in summer is right in your face in the afternoon and evening when sitting on the bar deck or your "balcony." you have to admit, outdoor seating is the very best when viewing docking lobster boats, sea dogs, and other fine scenery in the area, or even funny people seated outside as well. we ordered deep fried scallops, deep fried clams, and deep fried fried (which is where they deep fry the deep fry), and beer to swig! excellent choice and on such a fine day. very good quality and freshly flavored. definitely meets your deep fry needs. mmm-mmm. i love every flavor and taste. will be going back when in town. read more

We stayed at the hotel for one night. We reserved a king as described to our specific room number but got two full beds. We were told the rate was for water view and even though website said King they had not gotten around to changing room over. Room had a nice view. Clean. Not luxury. Charming harbor side and we were not expecting the Four Seasons. Restaurant atmosphere better than we expected and hoped to have a great meal. Our second course Mixed berries and greens salad had a grasshopper in it. Very disgusting and waiter left table with no return until our entrees were delivered. Second waiter came over to apologize but simply staring at us and saying "sorry" no assurance the next course was going to be food safe. No chef apology, no manager. We left without entree and they did not charge us. We left gratuity but they just followed us to door saying only thanks for coming. The appetizer and main course never arrived and had never been ordered from the kitchen.The popovers were terrific; the view from the table was terrific; the menu looked good; the wine list was from Mars. Nice place. We had dinner on the porch (Glad we did. The noise in the main dining room was quite loud. A lot of families and young children.) The meal was wonderful. We both had the Champagne Lobster. What a wonderful way to enjoy Maine lobster. The service was great as were the drinks. I had my normal Martini while my wife had her Manhattan. Both were "up" in the normal Martini/ Manhattan style. Here is the only drawback. When the bill came, there was a addition $0.50 charge listed below each drink. When I questioned the waiter, she said that is because you get more alcohol when it is served up! I am not complaining about the money. But this is bush way of handling what is perceived to be a larger drink. I have been drinking Martini's for over 40 years and this is the first time I saw a separate charge for having a drink "up". If they feel they must charge more, bury it in the price. Do rub my nose in it. Yea, I know i am being picky. It is the only reason I didn't give it 5 stars. Just visited the Rocktide inn for a night. Rooms were nice and clean, not super modern, but nice. The views are amazing. However the good ends there. The food is absolutely terrible. Everything was frozen or of very low quality. The fried seafood was frozen and came out extremely greasy it made me sick. My girlfriend's lobster tail on her surf and turf was also frozen. The salad had scallops wrapped in bacon on it, also frozen, the clam chowder was not fresh and was possibly from a can. I guess the old owners past away and the new owners (kids in the family) fired a bunch of good people and the place went down hill. I will never come back. It's sad many coastal places turn into this trying to save a buck to stay in business. If there was no view it would have nothing but a parking lot close to downtown. Sorry for all the negativity but for the price, we expected more. read more

I stayed here for a 3 night mini vacation in Boothbay Maine. Rooms were clean and modern, great thick towels. The location is right on the Bay a few feet from the walkway bridge across the bay so you never need to get in your car to get to any restaurant or bar. Free breakfast for guests in the dining room. They have Happy Hour every day on their patio on the harbor. Spectacular views. read more

The bedding is excellent. As in past friendly service,clean rooms. There is an excellent buffet breakfast that comes with the room. Lovely place for dinner and drinks. Come here and watch the sunset around the firepit! Peaceful setting, great service, and excellent American cuisine. I had the mussels prepared in a white wine sauce which were perfectly done. The Seabass was great too. It paired nicely with their Sauvignon Blanc. We also loved the blueberry mojito!
