I booked a table at Bluebird for dinner through OpenTable because of my love for Made in Chelsea having seen it so many times on the show. It was perfect. It's huuuuge! There's a cafe section, a huge outdoor bar area and a massive restaurant with another circular bar which you can sit at. All the staff were so friendly, sweet and attentive, I felt happy and relaxed the whole evening. We got a fantastic deal of 2 courses with a glass of wine for £20 from the set menu. The food really surprised me it was excellent! I had a pea risotto which was a huge portion and really cheesy and tasty! For pudding, as I have a nut allergy and was a little limited I was able to choose from the a la carte menu for no extra charge. I had a wonderful Chelsea evening here, it was exactly as I had hoped =] Will be coming back here fo sho! read more

An elegant, upscale brunch place which is literally the spitting image of what I'd create like if I had the money, skill, and any kind of talent or eye for design. The art deco, white building set back against the King's Road of Chelsea is a beautiful dining experience. It's definitely where you would take your fiance's parents or a long courted girlfriend. It makes for a 'dress-up' fancy brunch out with the girls to eat up not only the the Anglo-French menu but the airy, splendidly grand structure of the interior. Menu items are typical of brunch, with eggs served up in fancy ways and the lunch menu appeared to be fairly standard as well. What you wouldn't expect is all the little extras of the cafe, such as wine cellar boasting 750 bottles of vino and the adorable shop where you can buy your favorites to take home with you. The cocktail list here is actually impressively long - perfect for a boozy afternoon. There is an outdoor courtyard and the afternoon tea area as well. Amid stunning presentation of the food, the thing that didn't make me fall instantly in love with it, is that the food seemed to be missing some of the finesse I would expect of an established brunch haven of Bluebird's fame. The side salads were not quite there, small and with the dressing being thin and meek. The eggs royale were fine, of course, but nothing to take them over the edge of everyday eggs royale anywhere. I had similar comments from the other guests are our table in regards to the salmon as well. I will definitely be returning, but perhaps for cocktails or afternoon tea (or both). read more

(This review is for the Cafe at Bluebird) I came here on a late Saturday afternoon and the place was crammed with people. Even though there was a bit of a line to get seated it took under 10 minutes to get a table. The service was a bit slow and my food came out almost 25 minutes after my friends, so luckily we were in no rush.. I had a nice salad with butternut squash and goat cheese which was nice and a good size. After we ate we stayed at the table chatting and drinking for quite a while and even though the place was busy we didn't feel pressured to leave or hurried in anyway. The manager came over at one point and very kindly asked if we would mind moving to another table as he needed ours for a reservation. We happily moved and were pleasantly surprised when the manager sent over a few glasses of free Moët. Nice buzzing atmosphere and beautiful outdoor courtyard. This review is based on drinks alone. We went here for my sister-in-law's 30th birthday party. The decor is stunning in this large bar and restaurant, reminiscent of the inside of a beautiful ship. The cocktails were fruity, icy and alcoholic = me likey However they were unnecessarily expensive = me no likey The staff were friendly and the area that was reserved for our private party was quite large. My only complaint was that it was also right next to the entrance so there was a lot of other people in the area, not so private. I would love to come back and try the food but judging by other reviews I would do so at my own risk. A few years back I lived round the corner and never made it to the Restaurant. A welcome opportunity came up to go and have dinner, but did the Restaurant live up to the hype and everything I'd heard about it? It had a lot to live up to but i think on the whole this is a good Restaurant. The food is good quality, the atmosphere is superb and the service is great. No complaints so far. The bill was a little on the steep side for what we had but no more than you would pay in other high end restaurants. What nobody told me about and What i like the most about this place is that it has one of the most superb selection of Vodkas and Gin's I've come across. If you like these spirits you are in for a treat, (i recommend the Hamersmith local Gin!) the staff are well versed in what goes with what and the history of the different brands. They also have a few good looking private function rooms which look great. I'd have given this 3 stars but the excellent bar and atmosphere brings it up to 4. So in summary a hidden gem of a bar with slightly above average food in the restaurant. read more

I go to the Cafe when I have neither the patience nor the funds to stomach the restaurant upstairs. Plus one for the good solid "this is English food, but not crap English food" menu of roast chicken, burgers, tasty chips, etc. Plus another one for the cute-looking space and decor, including tables on the cobblestones. Plus another one for being near the King's Road (yes, sometimes that could be a GOOD thing depending on the errand one has to run) and not too far from Sloane Square Tube. Plus another one for never making me wait for a table. Plus a half a star for the food, which is not great, but not bad. Minus one because the space is not cute, it's cramped. Even when the retaurant's empty, you're squeezed into a teensy little corner. Minus another one for not having anything on the menu lighter than a burger/half a roast chicken, but more substantial than a green salad. We came for dinner and had an excellent time but I was so terribly disappoint with Easter brunch. The food was awful and service even worse. I won't go back after this experience because it just left a bad taste in my mouth. We chose bluebird because they had a kids egg hunt which was also kind of a bust. Lesson learned. read more

Overpriced and not that good frankly. The place is in a good location and looks nice from the outside. The staff are professional and the service is pretty good. However the food is very average and it is expensive. Your paying simply for the name or the Chelsea tag. The bar area is one saving grace and is worth a drink. I'd encourage a cocktail or glass of champagne in the bar, just don't bother eating. Similarly the cafe downstairs is woth having a drink in. A couple of beers in the sun is a ood idea. Don't bother with this place. It's poor VFM and not that nice. There are much better and cheaper restaurants in the area (Cadogan Arms and Pig Ear are two to name). read more

A hip location in a interesting location. The decor is very European for a UK location. Enjoyed some decent wine and the list is fairly long with an above average selection. Dinner was solid but not incredible. The appearance of the restaurant leads you to believe very fine dinning, it's good but the food is not as good as the decor. So Chelsea is close by and we haven't explored the area much and decided to head here for dinner and drinks. We were totally undecided on the venue and just decided to walk down King's Road and pick. We both were drawn to walk into Bluebird Chelsea. The cafe is cosy and quiet. I am sure it makes for a beautiful summer evening out. I will go back here just for the prawns with chili miso glaze....magic...pure magic. For mains I had the southern fried chicken and the husband had mussels. Both were really good! I couldn't finish my chicken though. There was some good red wine to go with it. I know white would be a better pairing with our food choice..but it was a cold evening...and we both prefer red. Staff is nice, service is quick. Ambiance as I said is good. Best to finish an early meal here and head to the Bluebird Chelsea Bar upstairs. read more

I have been here a couple times before and it has never dissapointed. This is always a great place to go, with a big variety on the menu. The cheeseburger is always safe, in fact it's incredible, you must try it. Apart from being quite tricky to get a table if you come for a late lunch it is usually quite easy to get a table for two or four people for a brunch. Brunch is certainly my favourite time to come anyway. A very cool outdoor area with decent service but a great location being in central Chelsea. It is a very fashionable place to eat so I would definitely suggest making the trip there with a small group just to check it out. They make a very good Bloody Mary. read more

I came here for a Sunday brunch. It was a fair deal at 25 pounds for two courses - I ordered the chili fried squid as my starter and the pork belly with a lentil stew as my main. My friend had been here before and recommended the Bluebird, and I do enjoy trying new places which are local. You first walk through the forecourt which has a number of tables, which is their cafe section - here you can have breakfast & lunch during the day and then dinner & drinks in the evening. I noticed that everyone looked particularly smart, both the men & women. As we met after work and it was getting a little chilly, we decided to head up to the first floor. Immediately you are taken by the chic interior design with lots of reds, we sat around the bar, and as I don't drink they made me an amazing non-alcoholic cocktail. Neither of us had eaten, but we hadn't booked a table, we were however lucky enough to get a table as it was early on in the week. Whilst my friend was eating oysters and seabass, I was particularly unsophisticated and ordered a hamburger which came with chips - simple but tasty :-) I have to say the two people that served us were soo nice, attentive when needed but also left us to it. Dress code: everyone looked smart, which is what you'd expect for somewhere on the fashionable Kings Road. I did however dress smart/casual, teaming my high-waisted skinny jeans with a blouse and pretty bow heels. If you want an alternative place to meet with friends but which is more sophisticated than the local pub, then I'd suggest this. Also, it would make a lovely venue for first dates or couples. A really lovely little debvelopment, originally set up by Terence Conran, this is a converted 1930s garage that features a restaurant, cafe, foodmarket & private members club. The restaurant delivers the upmarket Modern British food so beloved of Conran, and is of the highest quality (and price). Dishes include Cornish Crab, Lobster, Lamb & Steak. You can eat quite reasonably here, as long as you stick to the cheaper end of the wine list! The dining space is a wonderful 1st floor contemporary space, with views into the kitchen on one side and out onto the Kings Road on the other. For special occaisions hire out the private room, which always reminds me of a James Bond villain control room in the way it overlooks the main restaurant. The Private members club also has rooms for hire. The cafe spills out onto the forecourt in front of the garage and has a very European/pavement cafe feel. The foodmarket serves up some great ingredients too. read more

Bluebird Restaurant is quite a hike from any nearby tube stations so bus is the best option for getting to this restaurant (that is, unless you can afford a chauffer like many of the locals ) We took advantage of a lunch deal on toptable (some set course meal) and it turned out to be very good value for me for the quality of the food that we got and even the portions. I have a big appetite (as all my friend know!) and even I was full after the first two courses (a beautiful velvety and rich mushroom soup and beautifully cooked steak with side of fries.) The restaurant itself is very attractive. The room is gorgeous with high ceilings (so feels particularly light and airy) and funky furniture. Sadly we weren't lucky enough to see any celebs during our dining experience but apparently it is a frequent celeb hangout and I don't blame them. Service was pretty good although strangely they were quite slow with pouring our wine. Wine was hidden away behind our booth in an ice bucket so we never knew how much was left. Cool place for romantic diner with nice ok food. Pricey for the food but it's all about the atmosphere. Not my typical kind of place, but one of my friends recommended it to me and we weren't disappointed. The building has great history which always triggers interesting discussions. Wow. What a venue. The stuff of movies and TV - not somewhere I would usually expect to go! We got a meal deal voucher through a website and headed off not knowing what to expect. The place is stunning, pretentious, glamorous and seedy all at once - everything you expect from King's Road!! The food was actually very good, beautifully presented by a very relaxed waiter who didn't make us feel uncomfortable for coming in on a cheapo voucher (some places do). He recommended wine and was great without being overbearing. Went there for a celebratory lunch last week. Given the location (King's Road, Chelsea), it was everything would expect: good (not amazing) food, expensive, elegant (tending towards pretentious) atmosphere and slick (but not necessarily friendly) service. One thing slightly annoyed me: when I asked the waiter's opinion of a couple of the dishes on the menu in the cheaper, £15 range, he tried to up-sell me by advising me to go for a £25 option. As a former waitress, I know up-selling is tempting, but it creates an embarrassing situation for the guest! We had fun: we all enjoyed our meals, but it wasn't really for me. If this sounds like your kind of place, you'll probably love it. If, like me, you're more into street food and local joints with amazing food and a friendly atmosphere, then this is one to avoid. This is a neighbourhood favourite. My preference is to come for breakfast before the crowd gets there on the weekend. Any time after 10:00 you will be waiting to get a spot. If it's lovely outside the chances of you getting on the terrace will be quite low. Bluebird is a great place to come by yourself for a casual breakfast or with a brunch partner. My preference is rather simple, poached eggs, toast and the lovely portobello mushrooms. Bluebird is also a one stop shop for all your needs. The coffee shop makes a nice flat white in the mornings to go. Bluebird's upstairs bar and restaurant is a great standby for the area. Cocktails are always well executed and service level in the restaurant is always quite high. Meals have a modern british flair to them. I appreciated living so close to Bluebird as it served a lot of different purposes, I think the key to enjoying it is coming on off peak hours as it is a bit of a tourist/MIC destination. read more

I've been here twice - once with my fashionista girlfriend and once solo [on my birthday] and both times the experience was less than pleasing. Stylish? Yes; Good food? No. Good service? Hmmm. The time with my girlfriend, we were in the dining room and a waiter dropped a glass - which broke right behind my chair. Did someone say something? No. Did they rush to pick-it up? No. In fact, it took literally 5-7 minutes before someone came over and swept up the broken glass. How's that for fine dining? The second time was my birthday and I was solo. I had pork and it was just ok. The bar is uncomfortable and the people working there seem to be going through the motions. I haven't been since the D+D folks took over but I'm not expecting much better. There are better dining locations in London, this isn't one of them. read more

I would not come back here nor would I recommend it. It is overpriced, with a poor atmosphere and very mediocre food. Atmosphere: The place is huge - high ceilings and extravagant decor. You are immediately overwhelmed when you walk in here. It is overly quiet and the service is pretentious (I guess I should expect that from Chelsea!) Food: We had oysters and pasta. The oysters were awful - like I was worried my date might get sick. The pasta was overcooked and the sauce tasted like it was from a can. So sad, especially because both items sounded so great on the menu. Wine & cocktails: These are the reasons why this didn't get only 1 star. I'd come back to hang out at the bar or outside on the terrace in the summer. The cocktails and champagne by the glass are excellent and fun. The wine list itself if overpriced, but extensive. My husband made a reservation at Bluebird restaurant October 8th when we were visiting London. After long days of sightseeing and quick, casual dining, Bluebird was the perfect fancy retreat. We arrived in Chelsea early and came in to enjoy funky, floral cocktails at the bar. The high ceilings, eclectic furniture, and lavish flower arrangements were a sight to behold. We were seated promptly when we requested and ordered from the set menu. Everything was perfectly prepared, artfully served, and scrumptious. The food was fresh and seasonal, but not memorable. However, the service, and atmosphere was beyond comparison. I felt like we'd discovered a place where the discriminating Londoners congregate. I'd love to return and re-live that romantic evening. read more

What a lovely spot! I took some friends out to dinner here on a night I was in town. It was Sunday and I opted for the tomato soup and fish and chips. The tomato soup was good and I would order again. The fish and chips was revolutionary and probably the best I've had in my entire life. I came here for a leaving do with some of my colleagues and we had a good meal. I liked that there was a large outdoor seating area, and the food was a mix of contemporary English food and some standard pub dishes. Most of the service, like the rest of London, is foreign so its tricky to get quality service. Overall, I'd come back if I was in the area - but its nothing to go out of your way. This restaurant is just not worth it. They end brunch at 11:30am on a Saturday and Sunday and will NOT let you order anything from their brunch menu after that, including fruit. Yes, they will not let you order a fruit plate after brunch ends. Pathetic. I would never go back here for brunch again. And their lunch menu is full of greasy and fat food. Came here for afternoon tea for mother's day, disappointed with the service but the quality of afternoon tea was excellent and we did enjoy it but it was spoilt by poor service overall. We had to wait over 30mins before we were asked if we would like more tea and it was hard to grab their attention and staff were not very attentive. The staffs need to be more organised on these special occasions also the waiters do try and up-sell. Really sad as it spoilt what would have been a lovely afternoon out. You're waiting for awhile and after waiting for a long time the food will taste better than it really is. Is it mind blowing? Nope, but again the game is on, you're hungry and you are outside. The food was generally pretty good but for the prices paid (£45 for three courses) the service was inattentive and we were rudely made to leave our table "to reset for dinner" at the end of the afternoon.
