There are several different places to park and a few different entrances, depending on whether you're interested in the fields, the playgrounds, the disc golf or the trails. So much to choose from! I went for the trails, which is connected to the W&OD that is 40-plus miles long and Four Mile Run. So, pick the one you'd like, and loop around back to your parking spot. I really like this park! You can also find a bench and just hang out near some trees or the fields. You can bring a blanket and toss around a frisbee and have a little picnic. You can bring your children and let them run around and play. What a find in NoVa!

The course isn't as well maintained as it was. There are roots that can make you be more vigilant. Personally I'd rather relax, but pay attention to where you walk. The containers are aging. My hope is this year they'll fix it up. Obviously that's up to the park authority. If you want to try out this activity, this is a good place to start.

Seems like he had the entire gamut -- blow up couch, blow up bed, portable grill, speakers for music, bug repellent, food, and libations ;-) You will hear everything that is nature at night. I swear I heard a fox howling/barking. All-in-all, it was a cool experience...five days later, still itching from those bites. Oh! There's a water park too...arrive early to get in because they do have a capacity limit.

I also remember having a great time on the lake paddle boating and swimming in the big "L" shaped pool. Fast forward decades later, I have taken a liking to camping. I still consider myself a novice, and over the last 3yrs, I have accumulated some cool stuff. I have an annual camping trip with a large group next month, but I wanted to do a small intimate trip to one of my favorite childhood places. I must say, Lake Fairfax has one big change from when I was a child. It now has a HUGE waterpark that has giganic water slides as soon as you enter. I was a little disappointed to hear from the check-in Park attendant, who had the personality of a disinterested teenager, that the L shaped pool I referenced was no longer there. My picture of laying poolside or chillin in the pool were shattered, because with waterparks, comes tons and tons of young kids.. and honestly, I would just rather not..LOL! Once we made it to our assigned camping lot, I was super pleased at how close we were to the extremely clean rest rooms that were equipped with showers. The camping site was noticeably quiet, almost library quiet, so that suprised me a little. I didn't want to disrupt the flow, so I kept my speaker at a low level. :) All in all, I had a memorable experience at Lake Fairfax Park and I can definitely see myself coming back sometime next Spring/Summer!!

The playground next to the splash pad is big, new, and accommodating to littler kids. The ground is that cushioned material so falls are less devastating. This park is also always very clean. The other facilities like bathrooms, fields, trails, courts, etc all look great as well!

They have a giant lake for fishing, you can fish from the dock areas or bring or rent a non-gas powered boat. You can also rent a canoe or paddle boat but all the rental stuff is only open during spring/summer They have a 5 mile trail along the lake that's a nice walk but can be crowded when the weather is good and pay attention since the trail entrance isn't marked as clearly as it could be. They also have mini golf, a train, playgrounds and some other stuff. It's free for Fairfax County residents (glad we're getting something for our taxes) and $10 for everyone else but of course the rentals, mini golf, train, etc. cost extra. There's a decent amount of parking but go early on a nice day or you might have a hard time grabbing a spot. I'll come back here for sure to walk the trail and maybe do a little fishing or rent a boat

For those that don't know, disc golf is played almost exactly like regular golf except with a…read moreselection of discs (similar to a frisbee). This is the only Metro accessible disc golf course in the area, located less than one mile from the College Park stop. There are 18 holes, each hole has three seperate tee boxes to provide a challenge for almost any skill level. While none of the holes are impossible, several are tricky and will test your skills. There are quite a few trees scattered throughout the course to provide some entertainment. If you'd like to play, check out www.pdga.com for more info. To purchase discs (a set will run less than $50, the only investment you'll ever need to make to play disc golf), try the REI in College Park or the airport museum next door to the course.

Just played this course today and it was really good. Good mix of open fairway and technical wooded…read moreareas. This is a converted golf course so it is laid out very nicely and has a paved path. There is long, mid, and short tees for each hole. The longs can be more than 700' so I played the shorts. I had over 10000 steps and it took 2hours 15 min to play Talon so just be aware of the distance. The course was well maintained and had a good amount of hills which is different from the flat courses in the Richmond area. I'm looking forward to playing a round on the second course there when I come back. There are two courses to play. The owner/operator was great and promptly returned my call when I got there. The first course starts to the left of the club house and the other one is across the street from the parking lot near a portajohn.

Definitely will go back again, but it is a good bit off the beaten path lol
