Well this was my first time in treatment ever and I was there for my severe depression PTSD and a…read moregambling habit that was out of control...I drank but not to a point to the reason I was there. I did not detox and was there for the mental health aspect they just added ( the VA sent me there ) I went close minded with the idea I was going to stay for only 3 days and return but I ended up staying for 20 days. So let me start with the things I did not like there...first to many kids not being held accountable to attend the groups and just sitting around smoking all day and then being able to high up all the outside meetings and events that those who attend the groups regulary attend. There is not enough info for new admissions you generally spend the first 3 days navigating everything trying to find your way around. The CA's are very helpful but there are just not enough of them to help everyone. And I thought there should be some type of security there. There is a lot that goes on that the CAs just cant pick up on and are not trained for. I went with the intention on hoping for one on one sessions with a therapist to find out I enjoyed the big group and was able to open up more and talk about things I havnt spoke about in years. I can not say enough good things about my therapists in big group Charlie and Mary!! If you have to go there hopefully you end up with them. I have been seeing therapists for over 15 years and Charlie was the only one who was able to break through for me. Overall the facility itself is fault nice, food is ok ...good probably use a few more pavilions outside maybe out back. I don't believe I got much help with the gambling issue cause they kept putting it with drinking and drugs I get it it's an addiction but I didn't get drugs to help stop the urges to gamble like those who have urges to drink and use. If you are going to have a mental health aspect you may have to start a group only to deal with that and not group them with substance abuse individuals because for me listening to someone for an hour who uses did not help me much. Anyways thank you for what was done for me there and I am thankful for the resources I was afforded and the time I was able to get away from the real world and focus on some things I had buried

They are insane if they think that this dump is getting a single dollar from me! It is sad to think what happened to the 2 CEO's that they are trying to milk every penny from people/clients who do not have the money!

Overall our experience should've been two stars but there were some very attentive staff members…read morethat provided exceptional care. My elderly mother was admitted on a Friday afternoon, which seemed like a burden to the male nurse who did intake (incompletely and incorrectly, which caused problems with insurance down the road). He was not welcoming, at times rude, and seemed frankly unhappy to be working at the facility. The following day on Saturday, the doctor came to see mom and I asked him about bloodwork results. When responding, he felt like he had to show me the long list of patients he had to monitor, so no, he had not yet time to review the bloodwork. Sheesh. Not only did he have an ego, but he gave me no confidence that he would be looking out for mom nor any of the other patients at the facility. After I called him out on that, he eventually provided me with bloodwork results. Later that day, the day RN assigned to mom ignored her requests for her inhaler after her PT session because that was "respiratory's responsibility." Another nurse overheard me asking for it again, and she told mom's nurse that respiratory was not there because it's the weekend. The nurse apologized and finally gave mom her inhaler after we waited almost 3 hours. That's a long time for someone with breathing problems. The PT and OT teams were great. They treated mom with the utmost care and respect. Most of the concerns were with the medical staff. I'm disappointed that a few bad apples ruined our experience. Encompass at Mechanicsburg would be a good place to go if you are not elderly and do not have a lot of medical issues. Encompass, please do better for the next elderly person. For others thinking about going there, just be prepared to be your own advocate.

Where to start? Well, It starts at the top. And, it's the same Management there now as when I was…read morethere - sociopathy may not be the best word, but psycopathy might be. The wrong medications, ALL the time. Would they change them - Hell No. Because if they change the medication, they see that as an admission that they were using the wrong medication - SO, keeping using the Wrong One. Proof - I ordered and received the 1,000+ Medical Report after discharge to see what they were actually using. BTW, the bogus list of meds that they provide upon release bares no resemblence to what's listed in the actual Medical Record. And the bogus list included less than half the meds actually used. The same approach for dispensing the wrong dosage for the meds. Better yet, how about NO dosage? At times, NO appropriate medication was used. On a scale of 1-10, 10 being the worse pain; I was a 10 multiple times after an 8 level fusion surgery. Proof - If you PASS OUT and fall on the floor from pain, after suggesting suicide, that's a 10, period, no subjectivity involved. None. BTW, they get some of the employees to buy into the above approach, particularly the temp contract workers - they'll do anything to stay on the payroll!! And of course, Management knows that! Stay informed, And, stay away.

After seeing the doctor on his second visit they discussed a 6 appt treatment, my husband didn't go back after that. The chiropractor told him that he doesn't 'crack' patients anymore, because it's a dying treatment, WHAT? Every chiropractor that my friends and family go to, specifically go to them to be cracked, but ok? After not getting any relief my husband sought out a doctor and was referred to a different chiropractor. This office also has massage therapists and my husband said the office was always busy, so they must be doing ok despite not having a great chiropractor ‍ it was also clear that the chiropractor has a hand/wrist injury and maybe that is why he doesn't crack patients. Overall would not recommend for chiropractic work.

(My mother has a favorite farmers market donut, cherry topped. A staff member started picking them up on way into work. On days when the market isn't possible, she keeps a jar of cherries in the fridge so she can dress up a regular donut.) I had such horrible experiences w/ a memory care unit at a facility in Douglassville. Constant staff changes, staff that seemed to have zero medical knowledge, could barely speak English or be understood (a nightmare for elderly w/ hearing loss & a failing brain), & dreaded my visits. Instead of learning quirks or adding more staff, they heavily medicated to the point of weekly trips to the emergency room from falls. All of Spruce seems to be long standing members of the industry, many of which have worked at Spruce for years. From Theresa in the finance office to Arlene on night shift (both a pleasure to deal w/). 4 stars because facility could use some renovating- it is very dingy & dated. But come to realize looks are deceiving. Other places shiny & new, but understaffed, undertrained, & uncaring. Spruce gets right what matters. I PURPOSELY show up at all hours. My mother is always groomed, safe, and smiling. Staff always happy to engage.
