I had the bacon egg and cheese and it was phenomenal and the iced Milo was also delicious. The service here is also amazing, especially Sue treated me with the up most respect. FYI the "Aussie iced latte" is a latte with a scoop of vanilla ice cream added to it. It's not truly Australian but I like the fun option. This is a great place to get some work done or pick up a quick cup of coffee. The interior is bright and welcoming, and in the summer, you can sit outside with a view of the water at the end of the street. The pastries are quite good - I bought a croissant here that was large and flaky. I've also had the hot chocolate here - it's not bad but also not worth going out of your way for. The true skill of this place seems to be in the coffee drinks - which are high quality and made with care. The staff is super friendly - they take pride in their work, and are helpful with answering questions about the menu. Notably, this place is also very clean - I bought a drink to use the bathroom once and was pleasantly surprised. If you need a place to work with decent coffee, this place is great. read more

Their espresso drinks are great 5/5. We also bought the Maverick espresso beans to brew our own at home. The chocolate and almond croissants that I got are not bad. They are generously sized but I wished the chocolate batons in the croissant are bigger, and the almond filling more. Understandably it's not where I expect them to shine as they are not a bakery. Am I just a grumpy old man if I say the fare is pricier than what was in available in Jersey City's pre-gentrification Flamingo Diner-fueled halcyon days? If you're into avocado toast, Bluestone provides a fine rendition (The Lot) that expertly uses additions like prosciutto to tweak but not tear down the paradigm. The flat white was good. I have had coffee from here before and it used to be good but last week we got a cappuccino and it was bitter to the extent that we had to come down again to return it, post which they told their coffee machine has some issue, if that was the case, please dont sell coffee rather than selling such a bad tasting coffee, we requested to exchange our order for cold brew assuming that would be fine as no machine was involved but even that was bitter and weird in taste as well.. not sure if they reused old beans or had some issue..we had to discard it and get coffee from office coffee machine. Wanted a coffee spot with seating and this place is awesome for that! They've got both indoor & outdoor seating. Only thing I'm not a fan of is the limited menu - I tried the avocado toast & it wasn't my favorite. I got a hot latte too which did taste good! Otherwise, it's in an awesome location, right at exchange place & a good option. I'd probably still recommend Semicolon over this place though. But I'm glad I got to try this establishment! The best place to get a consistently good cup of coffee in Jersey City. Hands down. I also like their avocado toast. It's a bit pricey but it comes loaded and their ingredients are always fresh. Not as great as it's Hoboken location. The outdoor seating area wasn't clean and it wasn't explicitly saying that this location didn't have dine-in. I sorted these out and started placing my order for pick-up instead. I waited for some notification or my food to appear at the pick-up area for good 10-15mins, only to realize none of the ordered items from the menu were actually available at the cafe. Lol this inefficiency just drove us crazy. I travel places and review places and wanted to have comfortable food right next to my house and this is the experience. They were not able to refund us the money for the items and we had to pay for the new order again. LOL! Exchanged my experience with the company and they offered us a free coffee worth 5$. So I give it another shot, picked up my free coffee and was able to hear from others the same experience and they were expressing discomfort on a busy Tuesday morning. We came here for Sunday breakfast. And we loved it . It's going to be our new hangout place. The manager Daniel was amazing friendly and very inviting. The atmosphere is very calming. The food was great. We had two simple black coffees, bacon egg croissant, and a egg avocado burrito. Had this new Australian cake (sorry don't know the name) it was really nice and light. Iced chai latte was just milk and cinnamon. It was so plain and nothing at all to write home about. The bacon, egg, and cheese croissant was awful as well. Maybe thats my own fault for not reading that it included chipotle mayo, and way too much of it, but it still had a weird floppy egg and bacon that was too chewy. Perfectly good cafe to grab a cup and go, but not great for staying. First, they have no functioning wifi. Also, they don't serve coffee or tea in ceramic cups, only disposable ones which will some day end up in the Hudson River or a landfill. The Newark airport location is amazing! Kane is the sweetest and sold me on the chai latte and it is one of the best I've had! Clean with fast great service! Avocado toast and sunshine burrito were delicious! Pricey but totally worth it! And everything is pricey these days anyway. We will def be back next time we are traveling in Newark! read more

If you're looking for a neat new hipster coffee shop that enforces the idea that millennials spend far too much money on avocado toast and prosciutto, then look no further. Bluestone Lane is just that, and it's a cute little place located right on the Hudson waterfront at the bottom of Goldman Sachs's Jersey office. America runs on Dunkin, but Goldman may start running on Bluestone. I also feel the need to add that this is the first ever Bluestone Lane I've ever experienced, so unfortunately I can't compare this location to other Bluestone locations. I'll use Starbucks as a control - a classic, ubiquitous, and, dare I say, basic coffee shop. If I had to put it in a nutshell, Bluestone is place with better-than-Starbucks coffee (albeit less variety) and a small brunch/lunch menu to fuel a busy bee on the go. While a limited menu certainly has its shortcomings, I suppose I'm not particularly fond of spending more than a few minutes trudging through an extensive list, especially while in line to get a quick cup of joe on a work break. Now before I go any further, I have a confession to make - I am by no means a big coffee drinker. I have a very low caffeine tolerance and therefore have the arguably psychotic habit of drinking black decaf coffee. Nonetheless, I'd still argue that I have a palette for appreciating a good cup of black coffee. That said, take my review how you will. I tried the plain black coffee, the flat white, and the avocado toast, and here's what I gathered: 1) the coffee is more aromatic than Starbucks's, 2) the flat white has a great cream/espresso balance/ratio, and 3) the avocado toast was good, but not $10 good. Was this place good? Yes. Would I come back? Yeah. Would I recommend it? Sure. Would I frequent this place? Definitely not. read more

I like the location and place is kept clean (typical bluestone standard) but the drinks are pretty subpar and inconsistent. I come here every week, in the morning, for the same drink and it's either missing a shot of espresso or something else. I think it's because the shift team is understaffed in the weekday mornings. I rarely give 5 stars to a place I have eaten only once but Bluestone Lane SAVED MY LIFE last Friday and I wish to show my gratitude. My friend was picking me up in his sailboat at Liberty Landing to take the boat to VA en route to FL (eventually). He said he would be there at 9 AM and I had been up extremely late the night before so I hustled to be there on time. Turns out he got stuck at Hell Gate and wasn't to the marina till 11 AM. I was absolutely starving. Plenty of time to eat before I took a Lyft (should have done ferry) but I wanted to be on time. There is NOTHING---and I mean nothing--- at the Liberty Landing marina. You'd never know this to read the glossy, glitzy, glam website boasting about the most extraordinary restaurants blah blah blah. They never updated the website to reflect that little thing called COVID-19. The general store is useless. No coffee because of COVID. They have to go sandwiches with no date on it. Scary. And a lot of junk food and microwaveable sausage sandwiches I would not eat if the last thing standing between me and an early grave. The nearest food is 2 miles walking from the marina. A brilliant friend in Brooklyn with a buddy who docks his boat in Jersey City suggested that I use Grubhub or Seamless. I wanted everything on the menu but I settled on their "Big Brekkie." I don't even EAT bacon at breakfast. I eat an occasional BLT from the bodega (once every two months maybe) and a Cobb salad (about the same). I'm just not a bacon person. But the poached egg /avocado toast with farro, spinach, wilted kale, and roasted tomatoes came with bacon and I'm glad it did. This is not cheap (but neither was City Diner, which seems to labor under the misconception that it's in Manhattan not New Jersey: high prices!). But I didn't care. Absolutely delicious. But if you do order, USE THEIR APP so that Grubhub and Seamless don't get richer than they already are at the expense of hardworking local restaurants. Finally someone told us that they are not working on it, as they forgot about the order. Then they denied having received the order even after we showed them the receipt I've ordered a few times here in the past and they are almost always late, and often forget about add ons and forget to omit ingredients (even if you indicate an allergy). We tried their Avocado toast, Ricotta, berries and mint toast and Almond oatmeal and everything was delicious. The place is clean, spacious and well decorated. I would love to give 5 stars but need 1 star for improvement :) Out of my local three choices - Gregory's, Starbucks, and BL, I def rank BL on the top two for my daily go-to-place.. Their latte and other coffee drinks taste pretty good and consistent (make sure to have whole milk for the best taste). Their iced latte is big cup but their hot latte is kinda small which I found weirdly. At least they have all kinds of options (half decaf, light iced, extra hot and etc) when you order on mobile which I like. If you order their coffee drink with ice cream, make sure to watch out the sweetness...my hubby found it overly sweet. Lastly I never tried their food such as avocado toast...I think it would be better to only stick with their coffee for now. read more

Despite having been, by this point, conditioned by the ridiculously exorbitant caffeinated drinks and sugary snacks fancy- or hip-looking cafes charge for, maybe I should've still known better when handed over a soggy and sad-looking veggie toast that consisted of 3 or 4 slices of tomato, a few leaves of spinach, maybe pesto and some melted cheese spread between two pieces of bread. I placed a mobile order of a cheese & tomato toastie through the app in the afternoon two days ago, Dec 26, but when I arrived to pick up the order I was told the store was in fact closed due to holiday hours. First mistake, not updating the hours on the app and still letting customers place orders. Thankfully the weather wasn't horrendous but I definitely wouldn't have appreciated making my way there in the cold for nothing. As someone who works in technology, I can see how systems break all the time, even in large organizations, so, tried to look past this. I was asked to leave my name and contact info so they could refund me later (for some reason the cashiers there at that time couldn't do it) when one of them suggested I could just take the cold toast if I didn't mind it not being toasted (apparently toaster was broken). I agreed and ate it back at my desk shortly thereafter after heating it up in the microwave. My stomach felt funny for the remainder of the day. Now that I think about it, it may not be that shocking after all. They were most definitely closed on Wednesday, and were only open in the morning on Tuesday, if at all, meaning the toast might have been prepared on Monday, if not earlier. I picked it up almost by accident (I was about to leave when the suggestion of taking the cold toast was brought up), meaning they were planning on selling it even later. Now that's a scary thought. I'm not sure how restaurants and other cafes dispose of old food, but I definitely would not have been able to stomach (pun intended) the idea of eating this $10 toast that was two pieces of bread with some veggies scattered in between when it was almost a week old. read more
