My grandfather passed away earlier this year, and the family came together recently for an afternoon of catching up and sharing memories of him while enjoying some food and drinks at the Bluffers Restaurant and Event Centre in Scarborough. My aunt made a reservation well in advance for us to sit at a long table near a window, as that's exactly where my grandfather would have enjoyed a meal with such a beautiful view. It was easy to park nearby, and the views of the lake from Bluffers Park were amazing. When arriving to the restaurant, any window had a wonderful view. While the tables that my aunt was envisioning weren't set up the way she envisioned upon arrival, but the staff did a great job rearranging tables to honor the request. We kept everything simple by having everything paid on one check. We ordered a large-sized portion of the Grilled Mediterranean Vegetable Platter, which is a combination of grilled peppers, grilled zucchini, grilled fennel, basmati rice, mixed olives, feta cheese, hummus, tzatziki, and pita bread. In addition to this, several of our family members ordered desserts or other appetizers and a variety of drinks. Everything was tasty, though after our food and drinks arrived, it was difficult to get the attention of staff when we needed something. Got a fish cake and pork soulvaki. The fish cake was very browned on the outside but very dry inside. There was a lot of fish but very little moisture. Pork soulvaki had similar problems, dry and tasteless. The salad side had too much lemon and was too sour. Without the lake view patio it would have been much worse than Jimmy the Greek in mall food courts due to its overpriced food. read more

I had it in my drafts for quite some time but I forgot to post ^^" The restaurant might be different now, who knows, but I still want to document my initial experience! I absolutely love surprises! Never knew there is an old school styled restaurant by the docks at Scarborough Bluffs! Wooden interior with multicultural flags as decor. Floor to ceiling windows to capture the gorgeous sunlight by the waters. Perfect date spot to catch the sun/sunset! Bluffers Park Restaurant is also a popular 'banquet hall' to host small weddings or cocktail receptions. The restaurant do expect you to dress well even on a regular day. Seriously, the place inside is NOT exactly fancy, but they think they are. So play along. Came here on a late Tuesday summer evening. We were served by an older gentleman. He was working by himself on the floor. I got this annoyed vibe from him but that changed after we popped open a bottle of red while we waited for our meal. Escargot in a tomato sauce with sautéed mushrooms, onions and black olives was delicious and appetizing! It was not presented on the traditional escargot plate, but rather on a simple flat plate. There was a generous amount of meat! Sea scallops were nicely seared in a Teriyaki sauce. The sauce really compliments the green salad. It was a bit pricey for just 3 scallops, but overall a very enjoyable dish :) Order filet mignon as my main, served with peppecorn and sautéed mushroom sauce. I enjoy my steak blue rare but somehow was talked out of it for medium rare lol. The meat was still cooked nicely. Finished off our meal with a traditional slice of Tiramisu with fresh berries. Overall, the food was very good! The presentation for the dishes were not exactly the best. Fortunately, from recent photos by Yelper Dia W., I think they might have up their game. Last night I had my worst restaurant experience ever! The Toronto East CPA Association held a dinner meeting at the Bluffers restaurant. I registered and requested Roasted Chicken as entree and Fruit cup/plate as dessert. The restaurant prepared one chicken dinner short and gave my dinner to someone else. I waited for over 20 minutes and my dinner was still not served! Eventually when everyone almost finished their meal, the Waiter brought me a Chicken Filet, burned and over cooked, tasted bitter and rubbery. I forced myself to eat approximately 1/3 but couldn't stand it anymore. I complained to the Waitress but she just ignored me. Then I spoke with the Waiter and he just took the plate away without offering any substitutions. I was in the middle of the meeting and the speaker's topic was "How to deal with difficult people", so I didn't want to make a scene. As for my dessert, the Waitress told me I have to pay extra for the Fruit Cup/Plate because it's not included in the meal. Although I specifically talked to the Organizer when I registered to request a Fruit cup/ plate for medical reasons. I never got my Fruit Cup/Plate. The Waitress told me to talk to the Organizer. Lastly, the Waiter and Waitress forgot to serve coffee or tea to the whole group! They did place empty coffee cups in front of each person. I did complain to the Organizer at the end of the meeting last night and sent her an email this morning stating all the facts. Will I go back to Bluffers Restaurant? Would you? We liked our server, he was nice, attentive and for him I will give 4.5 stars. I never give a perfect score, as there is always room for improvement. Terrible experience. Owner charged us a bunch of hidden fees and behaved like a child when we complained. They made up a bunch of fees at the end, including random pops and drinks. They also charged us a $5 cutting fee per person for a cake we brought without telling us. They did not cut it, and only put it in the fridge for us. If they told us beforehand, we wouldn't have taken it. Since we were a group of 6, the full cake cutting fee was $30. We suspect the owner was racist as we were the only POC in the restaurant at the time. read more

Discriminatory and Prejudiced. I entered the establishment with someone who has a medical condition, requiring routine trips to the washroom. We were abruptly approached by two employees, raising their voices, that the washroom is for patrons only. Outright aggressive and inappropriate, considering the fact the washroom is literally right at the front door. When I mentioned we have a medical condition, the aggression increased with voice raising... "even if you are pregnant, too bad!" I have never experienced this behaviour in any establishment. In my experience, similar behaviour starts at the top of the chain. This restaurant and employees lack a moral and humane compass. I wish this establishment a painless bankruptcy. read more

Summary: hour wait for good food, poorly written menu, pricey, okay service, loud music After eating here for Mother's Day last year and thoroughly enjoying it, we decided to return for 2019. Under new management, Bluffer's Park Restaurant has undergone a new menu and several physical and operational changes since January. The menu was strangely written and inconsistent in the information it provided about its meals; it would list sides for some items and not others, and there was no written dessert menu which also seemed off (more on that later). The prices were quite high for what we got: $25 for fish and chips was steep! The atmosphere was the same, although they frosted some of the windows overlooking the marina to hide a garbage pile outside the kitchen door. They also removed the blinds (it was cloudy but beware on a sunny day!) and replaced the soft jazz with upbeat beach music that didn't fit with the chill (but more casual than before) atmosphere. We received our salads in about 10 minutes, but despite it not being too busy, our main dishes came almost an hour after we ordered and moments after I had to ask the wait staff to check on them for us (didn't want to have to bother them but it was getting a bit odd). By the time we ate our late meal, some of the dessert options had run out including the tiramisu we were hoping for (it's homemade and still amazing). While the food was good, the rest of our visit had us laughing on the way home about how far the place has come since being remanaged. Hopefully they'll become what they were in time. read more

A group of 4 of us went last night for my wife's birthday and the food was terrible and way overpriced for what we received. The server was fine, not overly attentive but no big deal. I ordered the Lobster Mac and Cheese, which was undercooked Kraft Dinner and 4 small miniscule pieces of Lobster. The cheese tasted like no name cheddar and was not even fully melted. I would give this meal a 1 out of 5. I paid $25 for this. My wife had hard Fettuccini Alfredo with a sauce which tasted old and was barely visible on the plate. The warmest thing about our meals was the plates themselves. I can't speak to my guests meals but I know they left mussels on their plate as well. They never offered to do anything for my wife's birthday. We didn't bother complaining and left. Ruined Mother's Day We reserved a table by the window one month in advance. When we arrived, our table was being made up, however, a waitress gave the table to someone else. The host simply said, "oh well," and seated us in the middle of the restaurant. We waited over an hour to put in our order. The waiter came by and filled up my water glass a quarter way full with no ice. The waitress asked us numerous times if we received our appetizers, to which we said "no," yet nothing was done. A man wearing a black suit greeted people at the door and held it open, but did nothing else; you'd think he could have bussed a few table or helped out brining food to the table, but that wasn't the case. I ordered a drink which never came. Other people around us were complaining the poor service as well. Our appetizers finally came; a few bites into them, our main courses were served, we were clearly not ready for them. The main course was cold and the dessert was store-bought cake. Tea only came with cream and no small plates to rest our used up teas bags. Instead, we placed the discarded tea bags on the table. Our plates were cleared until the very end of the meal. The waiter kept calling me "boss." It's the worst run restaurant I've stepped foot in. No one cares about customer service. read more

Food is bland but when it is seasoned it's over salted. The balsamic dressing tastes like barbeque sauce. The amount of food that you end up eating does not amount to what you have to pay. Every step of the way we were extremely well taken care of by Bobby, Voula, and staff. The private patio, dance floor, separate ceremony space, customizability, and picturesque surrounding views of the marina and waterfront all made it feel like a one of a kind venue. If you can't dish it, don't serve it. My fiancée read a blog article about the revamped Bluffer's Restaurant, so we were excited to try it on a sunny day. Unfortunately, it turned out to be a series of disasters. When we arrived, we were greeted by a server and a shadow server, who both showed us to our table. The shadow server hovered over us from the moment we were given the menu, expecting us to have decided what to eat instantly. Next, we ordered from the menu given to us (the lunch menu). I ordered the lobster mac and cheese and she had the Big Ship Burger. When the food arrived (after what felt like an eternity), the lobster mac and cheese was stingy on the lobster (at a price of $28). The Big Ship Burger -- which was supposed to have portobello mushrooms and horseradish aioli -- had neither. In fact, they had deliberately substituted the portobello for what were ordinary (lower value) button mushrooms. When we called the waiter over to ask about this discrepancy, she immediately took away the dish and went into the kitchen. A few minutes later, the waiter came back and told us that the kitchen had "run out" of portobello mushrooms. Mind you, we sat down for an early lunch at 11-something -- how could the restaurant have run out so early in the day? The owner then approached us and accused us: "You shouldn't have ordered from the lunch menu. We are only serving brunch now." However, a few minutes after this comment, we saw lunch items leaving the kitchen. She never acknowledged the deliberate cover-up and hardly offered any apology for the restaurant's error. She was brusque and abrasive in her manner. The waiter returned a few minutes later with another order of the Big Ship Burger, despite my fiancée not ordering another one. This new burger still did not have any portobello mushrooms. The waiter appeared confused and briskly disappeared into the depths of the kitchen with the second order of the Big Ship Burger. A few bites into my very mediocre lobster mac and cheese (which, by the way, only had a small claw and measly scraps of lobster meat), I asked for the bill, which took another 10 minutes to arrive. The card machine suddenly lost its connection to the network and the general manager then blamed this on the "location of Scarborough Bluffs" as too remote (???) Fortunately, we then had an excellent lunch at Gourmet Malaysia. Coincidentally, when we ordered lunch there, they had run out of one of the ingredients. But the waitress at Gourmet Malaysia handled the situation far more professionally than at Bluffer's Restaurant -- instead of deliberately covering-up a missing ingredient, Gourmet Malaysia told us up front about this before we placed our order. Overall, Bluffer's Restaurant was nothing more than a bluff. The food was extremely mediocre; the decor was tacky and jaded; and the staff was rude, misleading, and highly unprofessional. We will NEVER return under this new management, nor will we be recommending it to anyone. Do not eat there! read more

First thing the owner asked when we walked in was 'Are you going to order appetizers? You have to order from the main menu, check the prices before you decide if you want to eat here'. I was extremely offended because he thought we couldn't afford to eat there, but we were hungry and there's is nothing else opened around. So we settled and ordered three meals, we ordered two pastas and the 'captain's plate' all the seafood were overlooked in my opinion, and one of the pastas was too dry and tasteless. The only good pasta was the one we asked to change the base sauce from tomato to Alfredo. Server's attitude was alright, but not that polite either. I have been here once a year for the past seven or so years for an annual work function. We always have the brunch buffet. Every year it is the same. One word sums it up...blah. The spread is identical each year in regards to the items served and the lack of taste. I know a buffet is a hard thing to pull of well, but this place really underwhelms. If this is the best they can do, I am not ever interested in visiting this out of the way restaurant on my own time. The place itself does have a great view of the water and marina and that's why I give it two stars, but the service is sour. I am not a fan of having arms thrust in my face while I am in the middle of conversations with fellow diners. Yes I appreciate that wait staff need to clear the table, but there is something to be said, and that is "excuse me.' Save your coin and bring a picnic lunch to the Bluffs. read more

The owner, Paul, was on hand and we had the service on one level and then went upstairs for a social time prior to the dinner that was back down stairs. The food was rather good, we all had the salmon at my table. It is hard to pull off a meal for 90 people and get everyone to enjoy, but this was a nice and enjoyable time and place. This is definitely one of the best meal we ever had in Toronto (Kiwi lamb and sea food linguini). All the flavours were felt and it was not salty at all. I come here every year for valentine's dinner. This is a one-of-a-kind location, right at Bluffers' marina. Live DJ for on v-day. They own in summer for the mariners but not in the winter, but they do open for v-day and wedding banquets. Hardwood dance floor. Loft and all-around balcony. Their wine selection is good and food is high quality, through the years that i have come, although the price has gone up every year. Free parking. Fabulous view. All glass window hall. We get there looking for a nice place for the big wedding. The place is beautiful, we start checking around and we wanted to try just a small thing from the menu, like appetizers or soup. However that kind of attitude from the owner and then from the server was really annoying. Maybe they were expecting us to spend lot of money before to see. We had a Friends reunion this past Saturday from a recent Destination Wedding in the Caribbean last month and what better place to have the event than at Bluffer's Restaurant.The view with all the boats at the Marina was a nice backdrop to where the wedding was. Our host Voula and her staff, primarily our waitress , Charmaine, was very attentive to the group, they even played Cuban music to add to the experience. It's the little details in life that add that extra something that raise the experience to another level. Before the wedding we were all strangers, but now it feels we all have become friends. This dining experience sealed our friendship. We all started with either a craft beer or a French rose wine called "Romance" paired with tasty appetizers which included grilled octopus in olive oil and lemon, jumbo shrimps and mussels in the most tastiest sauce that we all passed the dish which had a lot of this sauce at the bottom and dipped our bread into it. That's what friends do. I had the surf and turf, the steak was perfectly cooked and very tender, most people had a pasta with seafood, whether red or white sauce, someone had the fish and chips and someone had a steak. Some people in our group chose the vegetarian option so they have grilled vegetables with pasta and one person had the gnocchi. After the food we all had various cheesecakes like blueberry or Bailey's and a few had the tiramisu topped off with an espresso.. The location is nice (by the Bluffs, nice park and beaches), the architecture and decoration are not too bad, but that's all the pleasure you'll get from this place. Sadly, the food ruins the experience - in a pretty bad way. The caesars's salad was very average in the execution, lacking quite a few ingredients that make a good caesar's salad (it's not that hard, really). It's not just a matter of tossing bits of lettuce, some industrial croutons and bottled dressing. Not when you call yourself a restaurant. My tablemates were a little happier with their starters, but far from being elated. Then I did the mistake of ordering the sirloin medium-rare, which got me a cold, overcooked and flavourless piece of meat. I sent the plate back and was brought another piece of microwaved lukewarm overcooked tasteless meat bathing in some watery juice. The mashed potatoes were saturated with garlic (one mouthful and you won't taste anything else), the greens were OK. The desert was the best part, the tiramisu was tasty and well presented, nothing to complain about. My tablemates who had the chicken and the salmon got luckier with their dishes, but it still wasn't anything to write home about. Upon my remarks regarding my main dish, which I didn't eat, the waiter offered me another dish to go (the chicken, which seemed decent), which I accepted, only to find out it was the salmon when I got to my car. I hope the raccoons won't get sick from it. Conclusion: Don't go there for the food. Have a picnic in the Bluffs park instead, it will taste better. read more

Went to celebrate a birthday at lunch. Enjoyed the location and beautiful atmosphere. However, the restaurant is under new management. We've been here many times for several different occasions under the previous owner and staff. Sadly, the new staff were not experienced. Unorganized. Only 2 servers for a full day restaurant so as you can imagine it took forever to get our food. We were a group of 8 adults and 6 kids. Food was mediocre when we finally received it. I had to put the candles on my brothers cake and bring it to the table, no one offered to help.There numerous things that added up, 1 option for herbal tea, dirty bathroom, $4 charge for a salad substitute on a omlette dish instead of home fries...... seriously, etc. Honestly I doubt I would come back nor have any celebration there just not confident in their service or attention to detail. I would definitely come back here for the beautiful view on a warm summer/spring day, with a gorgeous patio which overlooks the water. We were seated right away on the deck outside, and the table was well set with beautiful white linens and cutlery. Our server was very attentive and kind. The food was spectacular and very fresh. I highly recommend the smoked salmon and shrimps as appetizer, along with the calamari. Linguine del mare hit the spot and was definitely a pleaser with fresh seafood and a very flavourful sauce. Finally, the chocolate mousse was nicely prepared, not too sweet but very "chocolatey". Could have done without the berry sauce. Girlfriend had hair in her food (short black hair, which neither of us has), left he dish basically uneaten. We call the waiter over and he looks at the hair, then shrugs his shoulders and takes the dish away. Food is left on the bill. My food was bad, the chicken was wet and swiming in a pool of galic sauce. And the veggies on the side were straight up out of a walmart frozen food, no seasoning , nothing. Have a little pride and integrity for your restaurant. Its such a nice location and building. You should employ staff that actually care about the service they provide. read more

I'm so sorry to see the previous owner Paul gone. He has known my family for over 30 years and treated us with special care for so many holidays and events over the years. The new owners don't know how to honour reservations. I booked a party of 15 a month in advance for my mother's birthday. We had a 2:30 reservation... but at 2:15 my brother arrived early. He was told that they'd be running behind and not able to seat us on time. By 3:15 there was still not a table to be found to seat us. I'd called multiple times in advance to arrange things, so it wasn't like they lost the reservation. The manager had zero apology other than "we've had a lot of walk ins so we're busy." At this point I have elderly relatives standing outside waiting with no where to sit and apparently no time line after 45 minutes as to when they will seat us. Thankfully, I called the Stone Cottage on Kingston Road who assured me they'd make space for all 15 of us on short notice. I am flabbergasted that this is how the new management runs what once was a very special restaurant. Don't waste your time or your money on the disorganized unprofessionalism of this place. read more

My daughter and I were refused at the door due the fact we were wearing work clothes. We're both painters so they were paint splattered but freshly laundered and clean. The man at the door was very rude and didn't let us take a seat, even though the place was deserted. I was upset by this, we were planning to have a nice break from our work schedule.
