    shrimp and broccoli

Not the best seafood. Got fried shrimp and oysters. Cup of she crab soup. House salad. Baked potato. The shrimp wasn't fresh at all. Small and a bit tough. Oysters were ok but some were chewy. Kitchen forgot cheese on potato. Brought broccoli instead of salad. Tea was good. Server nice. Soup was good. Lettuce was all iceberg.

    crab legs and oysters

Service is good, but some of the seafood is horrible. We ordered two clusters of snow crab legs, a dozen of oyster. There are parasite eggs all over the legs and inside the snow crab meat and in some oysters. Oysters are not fresh raw and steamed. We refused to eat the snow crab legs after seeing the parasite and the owner only returned one of the two clusters. The meal costed over $100. Not a great experience at all.

Gater bites the best dish, gaterlicous.

The gater bites are gaterlicous. You have to try them for yourself. Great for everyone

The fresh local shrimp and scallops were delicious. Loved that they bagged them in ice so they traveled home so fresh.

Fair warning: Bluffton is not a big down, and despite this market being on a weekday, I have never…read moreseen this area as packed as it was for the market. You can still find parking a couple of blocks away, but the area had a cramped feeling that it usually does not. The reason for this, I assume, is that this is a pretty impressive market as these things go. The setup is on a green square and allows plenty of opportunity to sit and eat or otherwise enjoy oneself, but shade is also available and there are some bathroom facilities on the square. The vendors were a good variety for a market of this size, including several fresh vegetables and local rice, but also baked goods and some of the sort of prepared food that you'd be more inclined to eat on the spot. Prices were high, as one might expect. But I don't think that anyone inclined to shop here would not find something distinctive and local to be worth paying money for.

Parking is free on the outer perimeter of the park and neighboring streets. That is a huge plus for me. Also I love that it is true to what it is which is local growers of fruits and vegetables. There is a couple of food to eat booths as well. This particular visit I was running late and arrived at 1pm an hour before they close. Since I was hungry I stopped at this booth that had dumplings or lo mein noodles. The dumplings were not reading so I got the lo mein had very little vegetables and the lo mein was okay not the best I ever had just average. Next I went to a particular vegetable stand that I have been to before with great success. Meaning I got home and the purchases were good. Last week I got a cantaloupe and tomato here. This week needed peaches for my Mother In Law. They were firm and the size of a baseball. Six of them weighed in at $17. Next I stopped at a booth that had pralines. I chose one with walnuts $3.00. The taste was very buttery and really hit the spot. Just as I headed back to the car it started to rain. So glad to just miss it. Note all vendors have covers over their booths. To protect their items and to keep out of the sun/rain. Definitely will continue to come here as I love the small town flair and every one is so nice and friendly.

The upstairs bartender was friendly and he made me a very good extra dirty vodka martini. Before I knew it, our table was ready! We ended up getting seated after a 10 minute wait. We all sat down and as we looked at the menu, we all realized there were many delicious different options to choose from. We started with some raw oysters, the cajun broiled oysters and a basket or two of hush puppies. All of which were so good, I wasn't able to get a picture before we ate it all. The cajun broiled oysters were my favorite!! Then, our server took our entree orders with a smile and made sure to keep our drinks filled as we waited. I ordered the Redfish Special and it was a very big portion. I barely finished my meal and my friend who ordered the same thing ended up taking half of it home. I was expecting the lemon cream sauce to be on top of the fish but I believe it was mixed into the lump crab. It was so delicious, I could have been satisfied with just the fresh lump crab. My sons ate everything off their plates and my husband loved his Trio of shrimp, cod and scallops. This whole place has a great vibe to it.

Our server was Avery who was great at handling 6 old guys. One of my buddies asked for Swiss cheese on his melt and was told they didn't have any. Then Avery said "I might be lying" suggesting she didn't really know since she works mostly at the other Capt Woody's location on HHI. Mine came with American cheese and was delicious. I would have ordered it with Swiss as well if I knew they had it (which they did). The place was quite busy. For ambiance, we saw 2 delivery trucks which provided some loud background noise and blocked our view of downtown Bluffton. Other than that, it was great!!

We found ourselves on the Waze direction turning right down a rather long windy road that looked as if we had inputted the wrong address. Drove up to the Palmetto Bluff Greeter's Cottage... by this time I am FOR SURE thinking I got the directions wrong, yet NO this is indeed located on Exclusively private residential grounds. The greeters were especially nice asked what I was about and I explained that I was looking for the market... at that one lady perked up and excitedly told me about the BEST Chocolate Croissants (that melt in your mouth) at the market. We followed the map they handed me and wound our way through manicured grounds and looming lush Palmetto trees. The market has a gas station as well and is a small high-end kinda 'general store' for the residents. The market, the Montage Palmetto Bluff and maybe 2 other restaurants located on the grounds are open to the public however... imagine if you will a sort of "Pleasantville' or 'Truman Show' neighborhood that is what you have here. Be sure to read your pass that they have given to you... you aren't allowed on any of the roads except for the main roadway. Seriously if you think to go being a 'looky-loo' it feels as if the ENTIRE compound eyes are drawn to you LOL We didn't do this but we did mosey over to check out Montage Palmetto Bluff Resort then high-tailed it out of there.
