Pros: Our room felt very clean. The WiFi worked well. Checkin and checkout were really simple processes. Only about a block from the Main Street to the downtown shops and piers, but keep in mind that the walk is a steep hill. There was enough parking the whole time we were there. Water pressure was good. The whole inn seemed to be recently renovated. The decor was really cute and on-brand for Morro Bay. There were multiple lighting options, including the mood lighting around the ceiling. The AC worked great, and the room had a ceiling fan. Cons: The bed was pretty hard. We were sore after sleeping in it. Some type of drawers would have been nice. The walls are super thin, so you can hear people in the room next to you and their TV. The mini fridge was definitely mini. The bathroom didn't have a fan for steam, and our bathroom window had no screen. read more

Though the interior has been nicely updated aesthetically, the practicality of doing so without the addition of insulation or soundproofing missed the mark and did not enable a good night's rest. I heard every move my upstairs neighbors made, all the love my next-door neighbors made, and every cough, sneeze, snore, and giggle in between. I did enjoy the recessed lighting in the added crown molding and the location is close to restaurants etc. The person at the front desk was also very helpful. read more

It was my first time in Morro Bay and there were plenty of options in and around the area for inns and lodging. I'm so glad I found this place on Yelp! It's new and opened about a month ago and was very pleased. I felt like I was one of the first problem to stay here lol. My fiancé and I contacted the front desk letting them know we wouldn't be arriving until after 9 or 19 pm. Jason gave me clear instructions for the lockbox as the front desk closes at 9 pm. Check in was easy and the next morning Jay helped us complete the check in paperwork. We stayed in the deluxe king suite I think. It was a nice corner view where you could kind of see the rock and the marina. The room was clean and had excellent amenities and smart storage space. It was so nice having a little fridge, microwave, smart lighting and cool modern deco /mid cent modern room. The uplighting of the room was a great touch!! The cost was also very fair for our 2 nights. I can't confirm this but this may also be POC owned business. Overall very charming, clean, comfy and walkable to the marina! Horrible! DO NOT STAY HERE Management is not on site and does not manage property! Walls are paper thin and there was a couple above us physically fighting all night long, slamming things around and screaming obscenities. The management of the hotel didn't care at all as they aren't on site and only offer a phone number for emergencies. We slept in our car as we felt safer there than the hotel room! read more

This crappy hotel had the nerve to charge $332. for just one night! (Check out the pix.) On top of that, it charged my credit card WITHOUT permission. On top of that, it REFUSED to make this right, claiming it could not remove the charge. Meanwhile, it had charged the crappy room to TWO credit cards. I advise you to stay elsewhere! I don't know why we were singled out. Maybe because we reserved through a 3rd party or maybe because my wife has a service dog. Either way, we made a reservation for a week stay, however, on our 4th day Jason, one of the night employees here, texted us and told us he was going to charge a $65 replacement fee for the towels we used and charge us for any additional towels because they had makeup on them. We destroyed them, he said. I said I can't believe other people haven't gotten makeup on the towels. It's normal use. It comes out with soap & water. He said there have been others, and they all get charged $65 plus tax to replace them. Turns out, he charged us $74.55. He also threatened to charge for the sheets if there is any "biomatter" on them and charge us for anything else that is wrong or dirty according to their discretion. He threatened to evict us several times during our conversation. I asked him if he tried to wash them. He said they were destroyed, they were rags. They were simply soiled. Later that day he texted me, "If you decide to leave a negative and disparaging review of the property on any platform, even anonymous we will be charging a $350 cleaning fee per night," along with other fees he invented. And if any charges are disputed or charged back from the bank, they will file a felony police report. It became a hostile environment, so we left 2 days early. Jason is a bully; he is very disagreeable, rude, arrogant, and hostile when talking on the phone and in his emails & texts. Over some towels... Unbelievable. read more

Blufftop Inn & Suites - Upgraded room - Hotels Near Me - Morro Bay, California

Just finished a 4-night stay here and are leaving pleased with the accommodations. Recently renovated two story motel - everything is clean and updated. Parking is outside of your door as is standard with motels, but the area felt very secure and we had no safety concerns. A few things to note: there is no storage in the room. No closet to hang things, no dresser or drawers. Not a deal breaker for us, but we do typically like to "unpack" especially on longer trips such as this one. Just be prepared to live out of your suitcase for a few days. Bathroom has shampoo and body wash dispensers in the shower, but no conditioner. Hand soap dispenser at the sink, but they do not provide lotion. Pack accordingly. Our deluxe King room included a small fridge, k-cup coffee maker, large TV. It had a desk area, small table with two chairs comfortable enough to eat at or play cards, and a small couch. The bed was very comfortable! Our AC was fairly loud when turned on auto but if we switched it to cool it ran much quieter - there is also a ceiling fan directly above the bed which kept the room cool. There is lighting options for every mood. We didn't have trouble with noise through the walls outside of the standard doors opening and closing or the occasional conversation as people were coming and going. Great location, easy walk to the shops and restaurants at the Embarcadero. Overall a good stay, and would return for our next trip to MB. read more

Second, I could hear the neighbors on either side because the walls are just too think. Also, every time a car or truck pulled into the lot I could hear it. The hotel was 85% empty but when I wanted to book a third night, I was told that they had a two night max... a policy that is 18 mo old due to the hotel discouraging long stays. WHAT??? This is one of those times where it would be nice to have "half" options because I would actually give this place a 3.5 but I digress. The husband and I decided at the last minute to take a trip to the coast for one night and the place we normally stay at was booked. Found this new place and the limited pictures we saw it looked like a decent place so we rolled the dice and booked the day of the trip. Pros: Location is great. Just one block up from all the storefronts and restaurants. (However the walk down is really steep! On the way up I checked my heart rate when I got to the top and I was at 155! Lol that was my workout while there.) It is newly remodeled. I really enjoyed all of the new and modern furnishings. I think they have only been open for -6months. Ample parking. Self explanatory. Bed was comfortable. I actually slept through the whole night without waking once. (Pillows could have been bigger and softer but that's a personal preference) Really clean and good attention to detail! Whoever does their housekeeping does a great job. I should have left them a tip for that alone. Cons: Small rooms!!! Booked the King Deluxe cause I was told that it was bigger than the standard king. However the room was still small. I can't imagine it was bigger than 200sq ft. Thin walls. I could hear my neighbors on both sides. I could hear the neighbors to our left flushing the toilet while I was in bed. I don't think I've ever stayed in a place that had super thin walls like this one. No hair conditioner or lotion. I don't know if this would be a huge thing for some but it was an observation I made. Again, this was a first for me. Every place I've ever stayed at had both. Wi-fi is awful! I attached pictures but their DL speed was only 3mbps!!!!!!! I couldn't believe that the internet was this awful! The husband and I couldn't help but to laugh cause we had no idea that wifi could be this bad. We luckily have unlimited on our phones but still. Randoms: Lobby has snacky snacks. Prices range from $1-$3 Lots of plug ins to charge stuff. So. Many. Lights. (And light switches) T.V on the smaller side but overall good fit to the size of the room. No view. Just the parking lot and neighboring hotel/motels. Would I stay here again? Maaaaybe just for the night again. (I wouldn't pay more than $200 for the night though) It's a decent motel/hotel and a whole lot better than 95% of the other hotels/motels Morro Bay has to offer. read more

The entire hotel has been recently renovated so everything has a fresh, clean vibe. The room was small but due to the recent renovations, they made smart choices in the way the room was utilized. All features are high quality and the cleaning staff were really friendly. The location is only one block from the water and just two to three blocks from the small downtown. The only thing with this place is the walls are thin so if you're a light sleeper bring earplugs. That said, all our neighboring patrons seemed very considerate from 8pm to sunrise. I will NEVER stay at this hotel again and recommend you don't either. I have never been somewhere that doesn't supply conditioner. So, we had to go get some the morning of checkout. We were approx 30 min late after checkout time because of this. First they call us 5 minutes after checkout and I explained we were a little behind because we had to go get conditioner. Then around 11:25 they start banging on the door. I answered and explained the situation but the guy I was talking to didn't really speak English well and didn't understand. Then in the parking lot I approached another man simply asking him if he spoke English - based off the interaction I just had and he labeled me a racist right off the bat. Then continued to berate me!! This is unacceptable treatment from a business. He claimed to be the business owner - business must not be great if you are doing all the cleaning yourself! Get a staff that knows about hospitality! Your business will fail at this rate! This inn is stunning! Recently updated and man did they do a great job! USB's everywhere, super comfy bed, nice sized bathroom with really pretty tile, the type of mirror that you touch and it lights up and has a defog feature! In the room there is also a full length mirror that lights up as well. There is a ceiling fan- which I have never seen in a hotel room- and also indirect lighting around the ceiling. So so nice! Oh and last but not least is the Wi-Fi, it is actually fast. Usually when I use the Wi-Fi at a business it is so slow I just turn it off and use my cell service. TLDR: If you don't value a restful stay or a good value, Blufftop Inn is your ticket. Make sure you figure out how to reach their staff after hours - it may come in handy! LR: We booked a one night stay with our two young children at the Blufftop Inn. The room was clean and relatively recently renovated. The overall experience was the worst we ever had. As other reviewers mentioned, it's an older property. The walls are paper thin and you can hear every single thing happening in the adjacent rooms. Management put out a note requesting quiet time between 8pm and 10am, but even with the most considerate guests, you'll hear EVERYTHING - from quiet conversations to extracurricular activities. Unfortunately for us, we lost the next door guest lottery and were assigned a ground level unit underneath an exceptionally loud and aggressive couple. What started as an after-hours disturbance turned into a late night ordeal, and at 1:30 AM we were desperate enough to call management (reminder: no on premise after hours support). When no one answered at the phone number posted at reception, we were forced to call the police. TWICE. In the middle of the night. The couple was removed at 3 AM. This was a very distressing experience, especially for our children, who were exposed to behavior and language that left them shaken and upset. When we reached out to management the following morning, they claimed there is a Ring bell next to the door that allows guests to reach staff after hours. Because we failed to use the bell, we were only eligible for a partial refund. They also mentioned that staff had been alerted by the police and came to remove the guests. So, despite having been aware of the incident, management didn't bother to reach out to check on us and apologize. If you place a different value on almost $400 after taxes, Blufftop Inn may hit the spot for you. We endured one of the scariest nights and worst customer service experiences we ever had. read more

Zero stars. Worst experience one could imagine We forgot our room key in the room, after rushing off to my birthday dinner. Came back @11 pm to relax and realized we had no room key. We called the front desk (which had closed @9) and very apologetically explained our situation When the owner showed up few moments later, my husband greeted them and apologized that they had to come @11 but we have our 4 year old son with us and we're locked out in the cold. The owner was very put off. And told us we had to leave. We where shocked and so confused by this reaction seeing that all of our belongings where already in the room and we have a small child with us and now we're being relocated?? For what? We called the Morro bay police department They came and where very helpful and our side They got us back into our room for the night Thank goodness But cancelled our reservation for our second night We spend $380 on this sub par hotel but seeing we booked it through hotel tonight we didn't know what we where getting just knew we where close to the water What a complete joke and disappointment Never been so embarrassed and treated so poorly in my life And for what? It might have been a nice place to stay except for the part where I asked one simple question and got tossed out in the middle of the night! I was having such a lovely night too. Dinner....shopping....just cruising the California coastline which has always been my favorite thing to do. Unfortunately, when I arrived to get my keys for a reservation that WAS ALREADY PAID FOR ON BOOKINGS.COM, he insisted on me paying for it again. It was 10:30pm and all I wanted to do was sleep and drive away the next day. So I surrendered to his unreasonable and unexplained demands for a second payment of $110 plus taxes. I had to grovel to get this kid to give me the room I had reserved, apologizing for whatever-it-was-about-me-he-found-so-offensive? Ugh. I got the room, wrote a letter to the management about the unsavory incident, and was about to go to bed when I heard a very loud knock on the door. It was the POLICE ORDERING ME TO VACATE! Wait a minute....I was the one who got robbed for twice the room rate...I was the one who was made to apologize for doing nothing but ask a simple question....and I was the one who was willing to let it all go and put my head on a pillow, sleep, and drive away leaving the whole mess behind me. I WAS BEING TOSSED OUT BY TWO COPS!! MORRO BAY'S FINEST! I begged these two rather intimidating fellas to tell me what I did that was so threatening and worthy of being put out in the middle of the night. Their answer: I wrote a letter to the manager. My friend made a reservation for an ADA room, driving down from Santa Cruz with her caregiver to see her sick sister. When she arrived they told her they had no ADA rooms available...even though she had reserved an ADA room! It was a very frustrating couple of days for her; especially difficult getting in/out of bed. In addition, the walls are very thin and you could hear everything in the other rooms. I contacted the office after she left to complain. The manager didn't seem to care or want to make any amends. Very sad. read more

I was very clearly discriminated against at this inn (An agent at Airbnb even agreed with me). I wouldn't wish this awful service to anyone so please be warned! The room itself seems renovated, but the service was absolutely horrendous. After my stay, Blufftop management just stated matter of factly that they were going to charge me $300 for my undisclosed "pet" because they are not pet friendly. They did not bother to ask me about my "pet" or reach out to me to try to better understand the situation. When I shared that I have a service animal, it seemed that they didn't believe that I had a disability and even gaslit me saying I was trying to "hide" my service animal. Blufftop was completely inappropriate and aggressive and made me feel extremely uncomfortable with their questions and their biased and prejudiced assumptions. Thankfully, I got Airbnb on my side, so I didn't need to pay anything additional. Unfortunately, Blufftop management never apologized and continued to say truly unprofessional things to me. For the price, you cannot beat it during tourist season. The beds were very soft for those that like that. I think the sheets were a little on the rough side but overall we slept well. I somehow managed to get a room for the three of us half asleep. Sadly I got too small of a room when we arrived. They thankfully were able to get us an upgraded room with extra space for our child for only a little bit more $. The front desk gal was super nice and helpful. The shower was really nice except for not having conditioner.... which isn't the best when your hair is super long. Walls we're pretty thin and we could feel the wall vibrating with the neighbors phone going off for a few hours last night. Bring ear plugs if that would bother you, otherwise slept good and close to Carla's country kitchen breakfast spot (across the street). One of the cleaning lady was so nice this morning. My son dropped his takeaway oatmeal all over the floor. She was super understanding.... Having a small child with you is a little hectic when traveling. read more
